The options that I did use were very good, I have no complaints over it! Cons Since we already do reconciliation in excel, I think it's duplicate work since we are so busy. Excel can have better detail and we need to pay a lot for using Skystem. The team was very hands on, available to answer any questions as we implemented the system and are still available afterwards if something comes up. Pros I love the organization and ability to see in an instant where our team is during our close each month. It is a better tracking tool to show auditors who prepares a reconciliation and who signs off on the reconciliation than in Excel alone. I also like being able to navigate between periods easily. Cons There are a few too many options in the reconciliation for variances, I would prefer one section and you could drop down and pick what the reconciliation difference was. I have also enjoyed that auditors have the ability to access the recons through ART as well. Pros Paperless reconciliation and now being able to attach the documents by dropping in the file instead. Cons Not a big fan of the layout of the recons, could be separated better. Not being able to edit the entries and having to close it out and redoing it with the updated information. Just wish it had more capabilities around reporting. Also, wish the dashboards were updated and refreshed. Pros The simplicity of the product is very nice. Not overly complicated. The interface is quick and easy. Cons I'm more familiar with Blackline. Some of the features of Blackline and the reporting capabilities of Blackline are better than Skystem. Also, there seems to be a delay sometimes after approving an account reconciliation before the dashboards update. It helps us stay organized and divvy up our accounts to each member. One nice feature is the ability to create backups for specific accounts in the event a member is unable to complete an account on time. Pros Reconciling GLs is much easier with ART. It helps preparers and reviewers keep track of the month to month status and variances. It is generally fast and simple to use. Cons The user interface is a little clunky. It took some getting used to when first learning the software. It could be easier to read at a glance. I would greatly appreciate a dark mode. Investment Accountant Insurance Used the software for: 2+ years ### "ART - good but not intuitive" June 16, 2020 4.0 Pros We definitely use a lot less paper as documents are attached electronically which means less paper storage is needed. It is also convenient for our auditors since they can log in and review. For me, this is a faster and easier than before the conversion to ART, but part of it is because our managers seem to expect less support to be attached than I previously printed. In addition, several accounts that I have to reconcile can be grouped together and supported with perhaps one document. That saves a lot of time, not having to access each individual account and attach support. Cons I don't find this software to be very intuitive. I've used it each quarter for a few years and every quarter I need to refresh my memory on how it works. It seems like there are too many areas to drill into in order to complete and too many sign-offs. Sometimes there's no change in an account balance yet management wants a current document attached and these can be easily overlooked since they aren't flagged as needing to be reconciled. Pros Simple, nothing complex, ability to update frequency of recon, good basic documentation for any newbie to figure out, few errors/issues/down times Cons Recon view is not user friendly or easy or easy on the eyes. It would be nice if it was easy to see any variance and explanation right at first glance and know where to go to view a document. The ability to customize a report, no great out of the box reports. It would be nice to have the ability to deactivate/remove accounts (rather than just set to not reconcile), just in case they were imported incorrectly to begin with. Review Source AS Austin S. We have eliminated many worksheets from our monthly GL reconciliations and most importantly, saved much time not having to prepare the zero balance GL account reconciliations. The Task Viewer tool has helped our department with our month end close process that has eliminated a shared worksheet and all team members can access the checklist at the same time. Additionally, the implementation process was seamless. Once the template was sent to SkyStem, they took care of the rest and we were ready to start our monthly GL reconciliations. Cons Some steps are not as intuitive as a new user, but the support team has been very helpful throughout the whole learning process. You also have the ability to store via pdf scans, all of your supporting documents Cons Sometimes the server slows down during certain periods of the month especially when everyone is trying to get the balance sheet reconciliations completed. It is definitely possible that some of the negative aspects I perceive are based on minimal training, but I would think that for this type of tool, it would be considerably more intuitive. Pros It is a single source that allows us to create a binder for the auditors, and there are some interesting features with account mappings. I like the overall concept of ART, but it is cumbersome to use. The support is very responsive. Cons It is incredibly cumbersome to use and become comfortable with. Preparing BS analysis is a task, and I'm not certain how ART is easier for the accounting team than maintaining a physical binder. It has a very outdated feel. Review Source NB Nam B. Used the software for: ### "ART review" February 22, 2017 5.0 ART is a great tool for accounts reconciliation. It really forces you to really look into the account to know what makes up the balance. It is easy to set up users in ART. Users have access right away after they have been set up. It is easy to assign or reassign accounts to users and the changes take effect right away. No waiting period. Customer support is great. Staff are very accessible and quick in responding to whatever questions we have. It's a great tool for auditing purpose. Audit trail shows the work flow, who, when submits the recon and who when approves the recon so there's accountability. It's great that we can download the reports in excel so can sort or do pivot table or to see what have been done or have not been done. Review Source HL Hussain L. It was a great system for us being accountable for all the settlements we were responsible for. It was also a great system for our Comptrollers department as well. The system training was top-notch. The customer service was also excellent. Response time would be same day on the occasions we needed assistance. I had the chance to meet Customer support representative and was very impressed with the knowledge she possesses! If you are considering this system I would highly recommend it...! Pros The ability to attach matching balanced settlements in the system making it easy to research and compare totals. Cons Sometimes the staff would get hung up on where to attach a settlement. Very user-friendly and easy to learn and use. Pros Attaching back-up and showing monthly accrued items works very well. This is a great tool to replace the old Excel files we were using. Cons My only issue is when updating balances is happening I cannot get my recs completed. Too often I log-in, start to work and get a screen saying the system is busy, try again later.
