There has been a slight learning curve, but the experience has been good overall. I am pleased with the overall process.

Pros

It is easy to use. I have found there was only a slight learning curve, so it was not difficult to use.

Cons

I have not found anything I do not like at this point. It is somewhat different from what I was used to, but not so much it made the process difficult.

### "Needs Detailed GL Feed"

Good, I do rely on it to make sure we are on track to produce accurate and timely financial reporting.

Pros

Tracking and Organization of Month End Tasks and Recs required by the team.

Cons

Lack of Automation, still using spreadsheets for most balance sheet reconciliations. In order to do the type of reconciliations that we are doing we would need a detailed feed into ART. It is possible we aren't using the subledger functionality but I'm skeptical that it would give us the detailed information on variances that we need.

Pros

It is a good tool to store our reconciliations. The Support team has been very helpful to resolve issues.

Cons

Sometimes it is difficult to find notes in the reconciliation due to the many icons.

### "Great month-end tool!"

We could not be happier. Support is extremely responsive and SkyStem is always open to ideas on improvements.

Pros

Its a simple, effective reconciliations platform. My favorite module is the tasks module though. We use it to ensure all month-end items are complete as well as house the support for a number of our SOX controls. We grant both internal and external auditors access and it has significantly cut down on requests that we have to manually pull.

Cons

The reconciliations screen could be a little more user-friendly. There's just a lot going on that I'm sure some companies utilize that we don't (e.g. multiple currencies).

### "Very New to ART"

ART is so very new to me. I am learning something new every time I work in it. I look forward to the webinars and getting more information on how to utilize ART to my best ability.

Pros

It's ease in moving between reconciliations and months. Also, once the little nuances have been figured out, it is easier to work with a little more each time.

Cons

The thing I least like about ART is figuring out the best way to log in. I have had issues when logging in where it would not bring me to the main page. I believe i have figured that part out, though.

### "Great Recon Tool"

I use it to to recons for mostly asset accounts. I like the features that are there to do the bank recon

Pros

I like that I have access to all the old recs so I am able to look about at old notes and comments easier. It is very well organized

Cons

I wish I was able to see coworkers progress and help them out with out being assigned to the GL recon.

### "Best Value for Account Reconciliaton"

Skystem customer service is fantastic. It's hard to find this level of friendliness and quick service with any vendor.

Pros

The #1 thing we love about ART is that it has allowed us to get rid of paper reconcilements. Beyond that, the ART platform makes reconciliations more streamlined for us. It saves a lot of time during audits because the reconciliations are easy to mass export with backup documentation and audit trails. We also use the taskmaster for month end tasks which makes tracking month end progress easier.

Cons

The user interface could use a refresh. The reconciliation screens could be more streamlined or intuitive. However, overall the system is relatively easy to navigate both as a user and an admin.

### "ART: A Superior Product at a Reasonable Price"

We first implemented ART in 2015 and our experience with ART over the years has been very favorable. With respect to customer service, it is always prompt and reliable and issues are resolved fairly quickly due to a knowledgeable team. As a testament to our satisfaction with this product, we just recently renewed our contract for another three years which is our third contract renewal since we initially implemented ART.

Pros

We were on a manual, paper-based reconciliation and certification process prior to implementing ART. ART has been an ideal solution for our organization because it is easy to use, it is workflow-based, and it satisfies all of our needs for complying with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for public companies at a fraction of the price that other companies charge for similar products with essentially the same functionality. Additionally, implementing, utilizing, and maintaining ART does not require any involvement from our IT Department whatsoever which is a big positive for most, if not all, companies, big or small.

Cons

The ART team is open to feedback and recommendations for improvement. The few issues that we have brought up in the past have been addressed through additional features or functionality.

### "Reconciliations and Tasks"

My experience with ART has been wonderful. Easy to learn and easy to use. We implemented many years ago and had an ERP implementation which had us re-implement for the new software to connect and the new chart of accounts. This also went very smooth. The support from the team is the best I've experienced.

Pros

This software has helped keep all account reconciliations across multiple countries in one place. It is easy to use and provides evidence that account reconciliations have been completed and also reviewed. We also use the task feature which allows us to have one source listing all manual journal entries and tasks required for month end. The user has to check them off as they complete and a reviewer of approver can also check off that they were completed ensuring no entries or tasks were missed during close.

Cons

The Con that i have found is when an employee leaves the company we want to disable their access to the software. However you have to reassign all their accounts to another individual before you can disable. It would be good for that persons accounts and tasks went to unassigned or stayed assigned to that person until a replacement is found yet still allow you to disable their access.

Overall, I think ART is a good product and would be beneficial to any company. The accounts are well defined and assigned. Any outstanding items are easily identified and you always know if you are in balance or not. It helps finding miss-postings, mistakes which is obviously essential to any accounting department.

Pros

Coming from a company that did account reconciliations manually, ART definitely is a huge step up in the process. It helps to identify outstanding items at a glance and is a reminder of those items that need to be addressed. Because accounts are assigned to a specific person, it also forces you to take ownership of those accounts assigned to you and held accountable. Another plus is there are several different formats and the best format is chosen for each specific account. Most of my accounts, listing the outstanding balances, and supporting documentation is all that is required so the simplicity of the set up is useful. Another advantage is that the information in ART rolls over from Month to month so you are not starting over.

Cons

I think ART could be more user friendly in general. I think subscribers of ART could also benefit from tutorials. For example, for those accounts that need to balance to a spreadsheet, a tutorial on how to upload a spreadsheet in Art that would upload automatically each month would be useful. I believe there is a way to do this but I do not know how to. For more complicated accounts, ART is a bit too simplistic. Another point is that you can not put a note to the approver prior to submitting the account. Also, if you want to change the description only for an entry made in the previous month, you cannot do so. You need to close the entry and add a new entry. Now that we have been on ART for a while, I new training session would be beneficial.

### "User Perspectives"

Pros

We use ART to manage our monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. As a Regulatory user, my function is to reconcile the many GL expense and revenue accounts I touch through-out the month. I find my recon processes are so easy to manage and track using ART. I have the ability to attach permanent or temporary support documents and make several reconciliation decisions (eg. reverse at close) with each entry. ART clearly shows me the variance from month to month that I need to address and gives me the GL balance I'm reconciling to.

Cons

Since I am simply a user and do not get involved with the deeper features of the program such as account set-up, defaults, approval trees, etc. I don't know what might be helpful in those areas. As a monthly user, I find the program easy to use to submit my reconciliation documents and comments and I am able to keep my revenue and expense accounts clean and balanced.

### "Save Time and Increase Functionality"

Pros

As both a preparer and admin, it is easy to track the status of all of the reconciliations, so no account is forgotten. It is easy to upload supporting documentation and retrieve it quickly during audit time. This software saves our team hours, if not days, each month by speeding up the reconciliation process.

Cons

The Task feature took some time for me to get the hang of as it is not as easy to use as the reconciliations. I wish there was a feature that notified you when a task was pending review, similar to receiving an email when a reconciliation is ready to approved.

It would be nice it ART didnt calculate after each entry. Would be nice to have a refresh button so could make a lot of adjustments and refresh when needed. Since the ART refresh takes forever. Also, software times out even when I'm actively using it.

Pros

Before using Skystem, we were housing all of our account recs in Excel. Skystem has a great system to keep all of our reconciliations organized in one place. There are also great controls and approver process.

Cons

If you make a mistake with an upload, it is very difficult to unwind. However, skystem help desk is very easy to contact and they get back to you right away.

I was not part of the selection process. I was not with the Company at that time.

paperless, Central location for all recon's. Although we don't use the tool in the capacity it can be used, we like how the top page gives us uniformity. We have saved time by giving our internal auditors log in's to retrieve what they want instead of the accounting team making copies or sending emails.

Pros

I like the tasks portion. Although we currently use it to track our journal entries, I see it as a great monthend check list. We have two companies, one on each side of the country and we both use the tool for recon's. It is a great way for the east coast to see the recon's for the west coast without having to travel. Out internal and external auditors have all the recon's at their finger tips along with the sign off trail.

Cons

We need a way to have the preparer "take back" there recon after they submit but before it's reviewed. The instructions can be a little more detailed. We like to read and do ourselves. Helpful tips should be on the site.

Pros

Have not had a feature that stood out as something that is likeable other than it is a tool that appears to work.

Cons

1) It can't or doesn't remember your log-in ID so you have to type it in each time. Other programs will at least remember it and only the password is needs to be entered. 2) User's can load another month's recon until the prior month is reviewed/approved. Becomes a roadblock to processing and workflow as recon may be okay but reviewer just has not gotten to it. 3) Multiple step process to save and then submit a recon. If not aware of proper steps, then recon is identified as not being done when it is. If "submit" is clicked it should be the 1 and only step. 4) Should be able to see past comments without having to go to the particular month for the reviewer to see history of review notes on particular account 5) Not intuitive on the some of the functionality to get reports out 6) Going back to undo a step, e.g. take back an approval, sends it back to preparer rather than putting it in the "to be reviewed' stage. It was approved once and maybe it is just the reviewer that wants to make a change to the review note but it goes back to preparer it seemed from the occasional times this was done.

ART has greatly increased our accuracy and efficiency with our month end reconciliations and account reviews.

Pros

ART has made the period end reconciliation process much quicker than using internal spreadsheets. Streamlined our reconciliation processes and greatly relieved the burdon of managing these tasks. All of our recs are now in one place and easily accessible.

Cons

I sometimes have a hard time identifying where on the preparation page certain information should go. It sometimes is not intuitive enough, especially for new users.

### "ART simplifies reconciliation process & retention"

ART has saved us time by not having to shuffle paper around for approvals, and has saved us paper and storage space. We are able to allow auditors to look at recons in the program, which has saved us many hours pulling and scanning reconciliations for them. Electronic review & approval of recons cannot be circumvented, which ensures that nothing gets overlooked and provides proof for auditors.

Pros

I like the review/approval process in ART, and the flexibility to use the reconciliation item list, or to attach an excel recon. I also like the ability to upload line items.

Cons

Some functions feel a little obscure if you don't use them often. Also, once a recon is reviewed it moves to the reviewed list, and it still has to be submitted for approval. It's easy to overlook that submission step. It would be nice if when you accepted a recon a question would pop up asking if you're ready to submit it. Or better yet, if when you review the last recon remaining in your list, the system recognized that and popped up a reminder that you have items waiting to be submitted. Or, if the next time you signed in to ART it would pop up message if you have items that are either in process but haven't been submitted, or reviewed and waiting to be submitted.

Pros

We love the ability to recon to use the built in forms compared to having everything in excel spreadsheets.

Cons

Removing and changing account ownership takes longer than it should because of large amount of G/Ls. I would prefer to be able to do that quickly inside of the dashboard. Remove the limit of what can be returned and this problem would be solved.

The ART software was a perfect solution to help automate our company's 400+ balance sheet general ledger reconciliations. The implementation was easy and completed in just one month! The customer support has been excellent; from implementation, training users, and ongoing maintenance, they have been responsive and helped every step of the way. ART is easy to use, has excellent reporting capabilities, and has customizable quality control features. We have been very satisfied with the product!

Cons

Within the individual recons, we cannot edit the date of an open item, so items begin aging when they are input, not when they occur. As a result, the aging of items is not truly accurate.

We benefitted greatly from the software because prior to implementation, we were still performing paper recons and filing support physically. The reconciliation process was also somewhat disorganized as it was obviously tough to keep up with so much paper. ART provides us a necessary solution and serves its purpose. It keeps us on track to hit recon deadlines and helps preparers and reviewers alike perform their duties at a sufficient level.

Pros

It helps us keep our reconciliation processes organized and in good shape. It helps provide a centralized location for supporting documents and allows us to implement more control over the reconciliation process.

Cons

The format of a reconciliation template is somewhat bulky. Something that is more along the lines of an excel spreadsheet would be more user-friendly. It is also cumbersome to edit reconciliation items from a prior month. There seem to be a decent amount of unnecessary work-arounds to complete what should be simple tasks (ie. uploading data, updating or adjusting existing recon items). Lastly, there are regular slow-downs with the software. Long loading periods and session time-outs that occur while the you are actively using the software are relatively common.

ART has made it much easier for us to get our account reconciliations done. We haven't started on their other features yet, so I can't comment much on those. The team at ART is great to work with. They respond quickly and are great at helping you understand how the software works and recommending best practices. I've been very happy with the purchase and looking back at the 4 or 5 other options we looked at feel that we picked the right one.

Pros

ART has been a great addition to our close process. We're able to get account recs done earlier, follow through on unknown or identified variances more easily, and get account recs and support to the auditors much better than before. I've used the leader in this industry at a past job and feel this software is as good at a much more reasonable price.

Cons

Some reporting could be better, but this is a company that is willing to work with you and make changes. Way less red tape than at the others that we looked at.
