Pros: one of the best cloud based digital analytics data maintenance tool and is very organized. We use it mostly for digital marketing

Cons: the customer service sometimes takes little longer than expected but else it is all good and they need to optimize a solution delivery model

Pros: Salesforce is an industry leader in the CRM space and is being used by most companies. Companies decide to use it because it is reliable. It is relatively customizable.

Cons: Salesforce tends to be an industry leader in CRM because it's in the cloud and has great brand awareness. I wouldn't call Salesforce's CRM fluid either, it feels clunky when using it.

Pros: I can truly recommend Salesforce. Its efficiency saves you time that you can spend on analyzing your market. Everyone I know who is a customer seems to love it and utilize it to the fullest. Give it a try - I believe you will love it!

Cons: Takes a bit to learn how to use, but the customer service is so great that it doesn't really matter.

Overall: Sales, sales, sales! Salesforce is the perfect sales took for any business.

Comments: Salesforce does everything we needed, and more. As a non-profit, they originally didn't help us that much, but once we were connected with our own representative, she has been super helpful and keen. We used Microsoft Access before for our data management and this is much, much better. While it is a very different tool than Access, I find it does everything that access could, just a bit differently (and mostly in a more consistent / user-friendly way)

Pros: Loads of features; easy to use; different interface styles (classic vs lightning) to meet different preferences; cloud-based; accessible via browser; mobile app; free 10 licenses for non-profits! free self-teaching tools available online; very transparent in their activities (i.e. maintenance schedule, updates)

Cons: back-end can be complex; expensive for small scale businesses; can be time-consuming to learn to use

Pros: My experience is limited to the Radian6 component, but it is quite powerful in terms of what it is able to do in terms of social media listening, and categorization of content. Visualizations of the data are also pretty decent.

Cons: It's expensive for what it is, but still worth a look if affordable (perhaps as part of a package incorporating other parts of Marketing Cloud). It's not the easiest tool to get started with, so it's helpful to have some expert assistance when getting started.

Comments: As I said, this produces great reports for managers. And managment is the deparmtnet that ends up making purchases of solutions like this. Without ever consulting the actual in-the-trenches sales team. So they buy it for their needs butn not for the needs of their sales reps. Consequently, the number of meetings increases trying to fiuge re out why sales have dropeed and outbound calls have dropped, etc. And this takes motre time away from active selling. Salesforce creates a downward spirtal in sales.

Pros: It's better than using 3 x 5 index cards

Cons: Too many boxes to be checked on every single contact attempt that is made. Difficult to use. Extremely slow for a sales rep trying to mak any number of calls. I used to use GOLDMINE and made twice the number of calls daily than I could when I had to use SaleForce. These are very true numbers. easily made 70 - 100 calls a day with Goldmaine. Only able to make about 30-35 tops using Sales Force.

Comments: Tons of resources! Look on the community site for answers to your questions or just to see what is possible! Make sure someone goes through the training modules online-Trailblazer

Pros: You can hire a consulting company to change Salesforce to fit your business needs if you don't have the time or knowledge to do so (we hired Cloud Creations on the referral from our sales manager). The community is so large and expansive that you could easily find a fix to any sort of business problem you are having. We really needed a platform that integrated with our home grown system and made sure that all of our departments were talking to one another. We chose Salesforce because of its ability to be shaped and molded based on our business model. And you can adapt as your company grows-change things, add things, do whatever you want!

Cons: It did take some months to get our version of Salesforce to be where we wanted it, but for other companies that had more IT resources or time to devote to it would probably not take as long. Make sure you have a project manager or person dedicated to its success and implementation internally or it might not get adopted within your company.

Pros: It has basic functions that allow you to send out or schedule massive email campaigns. Other functions include tracking of email campaigns and performance reports.

Cons: I think the email cloud in general is not so intuitive in a way that I need to spend more time with putting together the email campaigns than I should. Like one example, I don't understand why I need to click so many times just to upload a photo, or a subscriber list. It is also quite difficult to manage a subscriber list, so easier to just keep uploading a new one...

Comments: SalesForce has a long learning curve. A rudimentary knowledge of it can take you a long way, but you will not be making full use of it -- especially as a nonprofit, that normally would have limited resources.

Pros: There are many great features about SalesForce, including the AppExchange. It gives us a lot of flexibility with regards to events, volunteer management and donation recordings. The feature of recording contacts is easy and prominent, unlike other systems where it is hidden.

Cons: Although it advertises itself with a feature to compose and create newsletters, the feature is not user-friendly and it is awkward to use. It is easy to create text but tough to format. Several apps in the product are repetitive when creating a contact, especially in the Auctions for SalesForce feature.

Pros: Some headway has been made to make the interface easily navigable, but much more needs to be done.

Cons: Difficult to navigate. Hard to get to stored repositories for image insertions. Impossible to get images and text to line up properly in side by side columns. Not enough support form customer service teams.

Overall: Creating newsletters in the Marketing Cloud environment is a frustrating prospect unless you are satisfied with a single column format. If you are looking to create double or triple column styles, you'll need to hire a designer with expertise in HTML, and the company's customer service team does not provide guidance at that level unless you are willing to shell out a LOT more money. We eventually gave up and went with a different software and company.

Comments: My organization uses Salesforce Marketing Cloud to help provide quantifiable metrics for our marketing spend. Overall, we have found it to be a robust platform. The marketing automation it is able to perform is top-notch. It has helped us to engage integrate our "thinkers" (analysts and data-driven specialists) with our ability to engage our consumers, both B2B and B2C. If your company can afford it, I would recommend it: it is money well spent.

Pros: Integration of various marketing channels. Provides qualitative analytics. Strong boost for social media efficacy.

Cons: Costly Time-intensive

Recommendations to other buyers: I recommend having a paid specialist help set up the interface. We lost valuable time with the software while we internally discovered best practices for ourselves.

Pros: Easy user-interface as well as a lot of helpful metrics.

Cons: The need for frequent password updates is a con as I sometimes have difficulty keeping track of my passwords. However, it does ensure greater security for the system and it is quite easy to update one's password.

Pros: Very powerful. Good support.

Cons: Extremely expensive and complicated.

Overall: When you send hundreds of thousands of emails, it seems you're destined to be tied into a system like this. It's very powerful, but it's extremely complex. Even for an experienced email developer, it takes awhile to get used to building triggers and actually sending emails.

The tools keep improving somewhat, but they're still very cumbersome. I wish they would spend more time making things easier and lighter weight instead of complex and bloated.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure to buy a plan that includes technical assistance. If you end up paying for it a la carte later, it's much more pricey.

Overall: We have a limited set of tools from Marketing Cloud and are just starting out with it. The new updated Content Builder seems very intuitive and was easy to navigate, even without training. We were able to produce basic emails in a short period of time. With a little practice we were able to begin designing more robust personalized emails. Comments: Salesforce MC allows you to create one to one experiences. The MC allows a marketer to give a unique experience to each customer. For instance, the female, twenty-something customer will receive a different message than the 40 year old male who likes sports. This allows for a higher conversion. Salesforce MC allows you to create marketing journeys that are unique to each individual to further the buying process and foster the customer relationship.

Pros: Scheduling, ease of use, creating customer journeys, personalization

Recommendations to other buyers: Research the product, develop a loose plan of what you would want to accomplish with the product. This product is best suited to purchase a plan that will have an account team bring your company up to speed and get started with the service.

Comments: I have been a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Customer for the past three years. About a year ago, we almost didn't renew because we were no longer happy with the product. However, after we expressed all of our concerns to our Salesforce rep they were able to make adjustments and I now have no complaints. This tool is great and we are seeing a good ROI on our investment. Their new content builder tool makes it easy to create emails even if you don't know HTML and if you pay for premier support you really get top notch help when needed.

Pros: -High ROI -Easy to create beautiful emails -Great customer support

Cons: They like to nickle and dime you for a lot of features. The product can be great - if you're willing to pay a lot.

Recommendations to other buyers: Paying for premier support is worth the investment. It's night and day better than the basic support we used to have.

Comments: It is very useful with all the features it has to offer. I was a Marketing Manager at my previous job and used this software daily. Once all the data is imported it is pretty simple to use from there. For those who are manually entering the data, I would suggest to fill out all the fields in order to get the most out of everything. I like all the dashboards and are very user friendly. It makes Social Media marketing easy! All the platforms are offered and tracks analytics for each post.

Pros: The best part is that Salesforce customer service is pretty spot on when I asked for tutorial videos or was stuck on something. I emailed them and they called me as soon as possible. I would talk to the customer service representatives for hours and they would walk me step by step.

Cons: The reports when exported are not very appealing. I wish they were formatted differently. It is a little pricey, but you do have a to work with.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you watch the tutorial video and really get to know your product in order to be able to use it at its full capacity.

Pros: Salesforce isn't the easiest to set up and integrate, but when you get there, you're likely to be happy. Infinite availability of modules. Integrates with almost anything. Encourages cross-team communications. Great support from the vendor, and strong community of users and third-party integrators. My favorite CRM solution.

Cons: Learning curve on configuration is a bit steep. The flexibility makes it less likely to be usable out-of-the-box.

Recommendations to other buyers: Larger shops with larger datasets will benefit from the advantages of Salesforce. Not so good for small shops.

Pros: I love that Salesforce can cover so many different facets all tailored to just about any business. For example, if your business does not have or intend to have a social presence, then you will not need the social media access for social listening, etc. I was impressed to learn how to map out journeys of ideal customers then setup analytics on behaviors and actions to track the progress.

Cons: Truly nothing. I wish I could have used every single feature but I was only able to experience parts based on what my client used. During a long engagement, I was able to help my client set up automated email marketing campaigns then track the progress along a defined journey to generate leads. Great interface. Sorry, this asked what I liked least and I lost track.

Recommendations to other buyers: Schedule a consultation with Salesforce so they can help you decide what features/packages will meet your business needs. Ask for a free trial and really take the time to get comfortable with it. I imagine their conversion of free trials must be pretty high.

Comments: Salesforce is the central repository for our business. All of our user activities like signups, payment history, the apps they have used and when, our marketing communications, our presentation collateral, and our customer support....all lie within the Salesforce cloud. It is the key to our customer facing business, and the Marketing Cloud is just one more piece to the puzzle.

Pros: Marketing Automation is hugely important to any business looking to scale their user base. SFDC's Marketing Cloud allows all communications that go to customers to be tracked, seamlessly within your overall SFDC instance. Campaigns to different groups are a cinch to setup. They have a nice, graphic UI for overall management, much better than the core SFDC stuff, for sure. Overall, this is a great tool to add to your company toolkit.

Cons: Maybe I am in the minority, but just about anything in Salesforce takes a little bit more time to learn than it seems like it should. Their UI is a touch clunky, and it certainly could use more design.

Comments: Salesforce is hands-down the best CRM out there. I have worked with it in both small business and large entity capacities and it works perfectly for both.

Pros: I think the best part about it is its ability to simply replace many applications because it can function in place of them. Data, Knowledge, Contacts, Accounts, automated email campaigns, social media, Support tickets, scheduling reporting - all in one. The company I work for now has separate applications for all of these and only the sales team uses Salesforce. It feels like such a waste.

Cons: The only con I have perceived is how quickly SFDC moves forward with new features - and the amount of focus they put on things they are rolling out. Sometimes, I think the energy would be better spent improving the current features.

The worst....

Comments: Going to do a short list here... -No consistent browser compatibility/takes two browsers to send one email: I have to design & preview emails in Chrome but content does not load in guided send box, so I have to send them via Safari, but in Safari content doesn't load in preview tab, so I'm basically sending blindly once I've created the email in Chrome. -Lag time: It can take up to one minute for pages to load within the platform. The platform times out on me at least 3 or 4 times a day when trying to navigate through different pages in the console. -Customer service: Non-existent. The service our account manager has provided has been abysmal. When I tried to communicate these issues they were ignored until I said something on Twitter. He then took them seriously, but to the day, has still never provided me with a resolution, and would not even follow up on progress unless I prompted him by asking where we're at in the process. We also received 3 invoices after paying a massive lump sum, that are apparently due payments on the invoice we've already paid. I've been trying to get ahold of accounting there for a week to no avail. This afternoon I was even transferred to HP (the computer company) when I asked to speak to accounts payable dept. No lie. That really happened. I could go on for hours... but I have to struggle through their platform to get some more emails out for the rest of the day. We're moving platforms next week and I cannot wait. Our annual cost with the new platform will be less than one quarter with Exacttarget. tl;dr version: The UX is terrible, customer service is non-existent, and it's massively overpriced. Look elsewhere - avoid at all costs.

Pros: You can send emails....

Cons: Too many to list... Trust me... we tried for over a year. It is not a matter of our email expertise. They are an enterprise, and they treat you like the little man you are comparatively.

Their tech support is impeccable with the ability to reach a real human being immediately with most problems solved instantly. If you need some powerful features, give ET a try.

Pros: Constant software updates and feature adds. Great phone support. Powerful email features.

Cons: Lead scoring for Salesforce isn't there yet, though they have mentioned it's coming.
