Pros

The product is relatively easy and quick to subscribe to, deploy, and use. We love how beautiful and uncluttered their apps are (mobile and desktop). The most needed features are covered with Motive's basic subscription and when coupled with a higher subscription and AI real-time dashcams, Motive leads the way as a premier partner for trucking companies.

Cons

We do not hesitate to use their 24/7 support (phone/chat) to better understand the product and to resolve issues. However, the best way to contact them is by phone as sometimes we tend to be less understood through the chat application and it happened several times we were left without a response for long periods of time. I recommend calling them directly for quick follow-ups and resolutions.

### "Can’t get my money back. Horrible service. Horrible people "

Had motive for many years. Few months before 2025 got an email saying there will be price increase. Wasn’t happy and I replied to the same email saying do not charge me because I won’t be renewing my subscription I no longer will be using motive. Ended up still getting charged with the price increase. Used it for couple of months now trying to cancel and they won’t refund me for the months that I won’t be using.

Pros

It was all good until the price increase. Was not happy about it and decided to cancel but can’t refund.

Cons

Horrible customer service. Trying to cancel the subscription and they won’t refund me for the months that I won’t be using their service.

Let's go back to 2016 when I first had the chance to experience this awesome trucking ELD app and it's software when Motive used to be "Keep Truckin". One of the first to offer a free to use/ try before you buy kind of deal. It was a great way to let people experience what would soon be coming down the road in the near future for HOS compliance... Literally! It was good back then and has only gotten better! Fast forward to 2026, the same awesome service plus some added features that stand at the top of the leader board with the best ELD products on the market. User friendly software on both ends for the driver and office management personnel, all with full FMCSA Compliance.

Pros

Easy for drivers to use and operate. Backend office is simple and easy to manage. FMCSA compliance is top priority. Help was normally just a phone call away if needing assistance.

Cons

Sales department. Never push or be over bearing. Let the product sell itself... Customer Service wasn't to bad when needed

over all motive works well, just wish they would make it so a driver could go total paperless in states that have tolls.

Pros

Motive is fairly easy to use, their desktop give easy access to vehicle tracking, as well as use of camera to record event. easy to download just need date and time of any incident you might want. we also use it for eld drive logging, lets us know if drive is short on hours or is in violation. maintenance tab helps keep track of up coming preventive maintenance that you may require. their billing is pretty standard in monthly or yearly charge. last DOT is very familiar with this system and have had no trouble getting info downloaded to them during an inspection.

Cons

biggest con is we run a lot of new york state toll roads and on ifta reports print out they do not break down toll miles vs regular road miles, just gives a total for the state. so drivers still have to manually keep a written record of toll miles. If you look at their faq page there it says they do but you have to go thru each trip, for each truck, each day. who has time to do that? customer service told us that after we called them on it.

I was in the Safety and DOT Compliance role with Motive. I watched our events that came in from our drivers and kept up with some DOT inspections that were due.

Pros

One good thing about Motive was the accuracy of the location of our assets and the event detection that would come from one of our drivers.

Cons

The only Con from me for Motive was it is very hard to get ahold of a live customer service agent. They always wanted you to use AI chats.

I see the overall value of the camera & see that it has made many drivers more aware while driving to stay focused on the task at hand., accident free.

Pros

I like that several times when there was a possible circumstance beyond my control, that could have lead to an accident(but did not) the camera is there to be my back up!

Cons

It keeps telling me to buckle up(which I do actually appreciate) when I'm already wearing it. It's not covered up by clothing or anything else. Also, when in heavy traffic, I always back up or slow down to allow for space between myself & traffic in front of me yet I'll get a reminder to not follow so close. I usually try to count the appropriate seconds that are required.

solid fleet management system that helps us manage drivers, maintain compliance, and track vehicles .Once you become familiar with the platform, it can be a very useful tool for both safety and dispatch.

Pros

Everything in one place. Having ELD logs, GPS tracking, safety alerts, and driver data all in the same dashboard makes it easier to manage drivers and stay compliant.

Cons

Some of the settings or reports can be harder to locate at first . sometimes delays in syncing data between drivers and the dashboard.

Pros

Motive has a lightweight UI that makes it easy to implement and navigate through it. I highly appreciate the GPS tech that enable us to track location of vehicles and monitor movement enabling us to respond to any changes promptly. Additionally Motive help us optimize routes based on realtime traffic and other factor data leading to effective deliveries, reduced fuel consumption and travel time. Motive has also embedded a two way communication tool that enable us in the back office message and communicate with our drivers one on one. Comprehensive reports and fleet metrics data gathered help diagnose engine issues, identify potential issues on our vehicle health and keep accurate record of fuel consumption

Cons

We haven't experienced any issues with Motive. Its performance is incredible and the system runs without any hitches . All thanks to their readily available expert support team that help us resolved any issues we are facing

It has been a process to learn the very interactive reporting platform. I can find all truck data + in a minute as well as track the entire fleet at 1 time.

Pros

The support team in specific \[sensitive content hidden\] are the best I have seen in the industry. They are taking care of all of our needs and we have roughly 10,000 trucks in our fleet.

We did not move on from our previous ELD company sooner!

If you have to have and ELD this one is a good choice for the ease of reporting, inspection mode, compliance, customer service. they work with many other tracking apps, they are constantly improving and developing, and update current laws and such.

Pros

Everything about this is easy to use and set up. Anyone can use it and set it up. It usually works well with any vehicle, we have used in several different semis and even hot shots. I like the reports for making apportioned and IFTA reporting easy. I have never had any problem that wasn't fixed really quickly. If the unit goes bad they ship another one right away. If you have a problem and can not find how to fix it in help or maybe not typing just the right search you can always call. They have lots of help pages online to help you avoid having to talk to someone, but if a phone call is easier than just call in. I have never had a problem with anything they could not help with yet. We have used them for at least 3 yrs now, some with other companies and some on our own. Other companies and software that we have used was horrible and if we had problems it took people 20+ days to fix. That is never the case with Keep Truckin.

Cons

on some vehicles the odometer mileage does not read correctly. Don't get me wrong the mileage for the trip and day is correct to how many miles and such. it just won't read the odometer so that they match for example 299473 on odometer and it has correct miles per day, and trip. just the odometer reading, not a big deal you just put it in and it runs everything fine. Other that that which is not a big deal, every now and then it will say 30 mins on break and then throw a violation because the time was really 29:57. My drivers know to make it go until 32 mins, just to make sure. It rarely happens but i know it has shown 30 and my husband drove and i was watching it. Then i logged in on the computer and it showed a few seconds less than 30min. i also have not called in about this issue as it has only happened a few times and maybe it was a sync issue that was randomly fix when logging off.

Reason for choosing Motive

We knew Keep Trucking from using it before with other companies and we just went with them, No need to ever bother with anyone else. We felt like they were the best. We used the app before the ELD mandate went into law and it was just so easy and user friendly.

We worked with a company who used them, it was awful. 3 units went bad in less that 6 months. The first install was horrible and messed up my sync unit in my truck, and never connected past the first day. the second one worked for a few months and then never connected again, then it took them about a week to troubleshoot, then another 21 days before they could get tech out. it was just ridiculous. Luckily we only worked with that company another couple of months and when we got our own authority, we already knew we were going back to Keep Truckin.

### "#1 thing it is easy for drivers"

overall I like KT. I do believe they should think about giving better rates to the people that have been with them. When we renewed my company chose to not go with KT because someone else made us a better offer and it was not easy to get KT to match the offer and when they did if they would have just offered me that deal in the beginning it would have saved me ALOT of time and since we are a small company TIME is very valuable.

Pros

I have to do the training for drivers so I appreciate how easy it is to train on. I also like knowing where our trucks are and being able to see that everything is ok everyday. Even the drivers that were against ELDs like it and have found it makes life easier.

Cons

customer service and sales teams. I have had so really difficult experiences with both. Not that it is every time I call but I have had people that could not find my account tell me I don't have KT hang up call back and new rep had no problem. I have been so frustrated trying to order a new device that I was ready to just give up but called one more time got someone else and problem solved so I know there are good reps there. Some have accents that are very hard to understand but that is just a minor detail that can usually be worked thru.

Because KT was able to get my price back down after quoting me a higher price than I wanted to pay without any updates. Price was the only reason we tried Samsara and it was a good system but KT decided to price match and upgraded to include all the IFTA info and forward cameras and I did not have change all the ELDs out of all my truck to install new ones. Once again the whole thing was a huge waste of time had KT have said hey lets look at upgrading and saving and quoted me the price we ended up getting in the first place it would have been over and done and prevented the feeling of oh so you give new people a break but the people who have been paying you for 2 yrs get a crappy deal to pay for the new peoples good deals.

Overall, I feel like the product has a lot of good uses, and if it is what people purchase I do not feel that they will be slighted or taken advantage of. Some of the problems (GPS as previously mentioned) are annoying but it only affects the dashboard and not the logs so it is not deal breakingly bad.

Pros

I like the ease of customization and the ease of use. I can show someone how to use this product in 10min and expect that he or she will be able to do the bare minimum required of them with this. Or I can take the afternoon and show someone how to make it work for them personally and the best way for them to use it.

Cons

There are a lot of gaps in the GPS service. I notice at least 3 times a month, the gps stops tracking. It will then randomly pick up again. If it is satellite coverage, a better system is needed.

I like the motive ELD app is convenient. You don’t have to get a big bulky screen installed in your work truck and the app is very user-friendly. However, the financial tactics could be better. Inform the customer about the lump sum fee instead of telling them great price.

Pros

You can use your cell phone instead of the big clock screen that you had to get installed in your semi truck

Cons

The one thing I don’t like about motive is their financial tactics. They’ll tell you a great price, but they failed to inform you that you have to pay a lump sum fee.

Customer support is excellent, web and app content great, especially the ability to manage the fleet from the phone app. In vehicle cameras are excellent and the ability to set adjust or remove parameters you want monitored

Pros

The ability to track and locate fleet vehicles and drivers while managing their driving habits

Cons

bluetooth connection can be a bit glitchy at times

Horrible, horrible horrible use so many options. These guys will take your money and never call you back again and then give you random calls acting like they are following up on customer service.

Pros

The staff has no idea what they’re doing. They have no knowledge of their own system. Complete waste of money and time

Cons

Staff Knowledge of Devices False assurances Their own team doesn’t even know what devices they have Took me six months to let them know or for them to figure out which device that they need to send me

### "Great for Any Driver"

We have a very good experience so far. It has been a lifesaver for the logbook record-keeping.

Pros

The features I like most are the real-time tracking, trip history and logbook integration. It makes trucking and managing driver much easier with less hassle.

Cons

The site is easy enough to navigate with some coaching. A more intuitive format and labeling would be helpful. it seems to take a lot of clicks to access some of the information that should be more readily available, such as histories or reports.

Reason for choosing Motive

I don't know why this decision was made.

It's an overall good system, I've had a couple of challenges. I feel there should be assigned TEAMS to handle accounts/issues. The reason being, when I call in I get a different person each time and then a CASE number is created and then I have to wait for a response via email. I believe in good old customer service with live individuals to get things rectified. Some things cannot be handled with emails and require a live person on the other end of the phone.

Pros

As a trucking company we rely on ELDs and tracking. Motive allows for us to track our fleet/assets but there are many times the Solar Gateways need to be recharged and it makes it difficult for us if the asset is sitting at an offsite far way location. Motive has supplies us with cables to recharge the Gateway but if my asset loses charge while in a different state, how do I find it and recharge it? This happens more frequently than desired....just frustrating.

Cons

I wish there was a way to input more than one destination address because our trucks have multiple stops as route trucks and I have to continuously make changes rather than inputting all the address at once and watch my driver's progress. I've brought this up to Motive many times. I should be able to input the multiple addresses/route and watch the progress of my driver rather than feel as though I am babysitting them and asking them to call in after every drop.

Reason for choosing Motive

Sold on product and cost. Since our switch, costs have gone up.
