February 13, 2019 4.0 Pros The ease of use was my favorite feature as billing can always be difficult. Setting up new accounts are a breeze. When I had any questions, or issues, their support team was very responsive and helpful. Cons I did experience an issue where it would log me out quite often when opening a 'self-service page' to send to our customers. This appears to have been fixed and works well now. Pros It is intuitive to use. While there is a learning curve at the beginning, once you understand the general layout, Chargify is easy to use. They've expanded on their analytics, making the application more instrumental in business decisions backed by real data. Their API and webhooks allow for integrations that suit my company's workflow. Instead of disrupting or working around Chargify, the software pairs well with our pre-established setup. Cons The coupon set up can be limiting for some of our promos. Pros Satisfies general needs for a subscription management service, supports long list of payment gateways, plans are highly configurable Cons It’s impossible to handle multiple currencies, tax regions or payment gateways in a single Chargify site. This necessitates to create separate sites for all combinations of the aforementioned settings, which is a huge administrative and integration effort. In fact, we decided to abandon Chargify for our flagship product for this very reason. Reason for choosing Maxio At the time, Stripe and Braintree subscriptions did not offer the required features and Recurly was not competitively priced for the Australian market. I will say we're looking at other, more user/business friendly options with our site rebuild. Pros It is easy to edit and store profiles. Your customer support is usually kind and they do their best, but there's a lot of issues they can't fix because the tech is so clunky. Cons \- Customers have a hard time editing their own items - once they do edit something we aren't notified - using the software on our end is very difficult to run orders off of. You can't download a list or have notes on a profile. We have to have a separate google doc that we load up with everything and keep track of orders. It would be so nice to have a way to keep track of when an order was sent, order notes etc.. - It's tough to figure out who your new users are for a monthly subscription - You should be able to customize the downloadable lists - We have a problem because we send it out once a month on a standard day, we can't just have those people sign up and then get charged on a certain date so they get recharged, or their billing is off until we change their charge date. Their platform is easy to use and well documented. Pros Chargify is easy to use and adapt to your business. They constantly improve their service. Better pricing than most of the competition. Cons Some competitors offer more features and are first to offer new technologies, but Chargify is quick to follow. Once everything is set up, its incredibly simple to search for clients by company name or name etc. and the same goes for viewing and editing customers. Pros The Customer Success team at Chargify is wonderful. You can go to them with any questions or concerns you have and if they don't know they answer, they will get one for you. They have made working with Chargify a joy and have helped us to adapt and alter the product to help it work best for us and our business needs. Cons There are parts of the software that are hard to figure out how to use without completing additional research. Chargify does have great Help articles, but it would be nice if the software was more user friendly so you don't have to refer to the Help items. Pros The billing through this software is a breeze and it makes it very easy to track AR. Cons Reports can be made more interactive and functionality should be improved to make the user comfortable in constructing their own reports. Also I personally saw that 1 customer can only have 1 currency attached to it. I would suggest this should change and multiple currencies should be allocated to a customer. Pros Our software is primarily a subscription based service with various enterprise clients that all have different needs for their representatives. This means we have to tailor the pricing models based on the services these clients are using. Chargify makes it easy to quickly ascertain our revenues and churn rates and also identify key areas of improvement. Chargify is a robust platform we have chosen to implement and will continue to support. Cons Due to the extensive features Chargify has, it can be quite daunting at first glance for someone not experienced with running different kinds of reports. However, once they get up and running, the process gets smoother, but it is an initially steep learning curve in my opinion. I felt very well taken care of by, especially by my on-boarding specialist, Kayla. She took me through a very stressful transition (let's be honest, money and technology can stress a person out) and made it smooth and easy. I'm very happy to be on track and using the system now. And I love it! I went with Chargify because it seemed like the only system that would allow me to both charge clients cards automatically, but also send invoices to those clients that need to pay by check, ACH or wire transfer. We have a lot of international clients, so this was imperative for us. Cons There are a few places that improvements could be made, but they are minor and the staff seem very open to hearing comments. I do wish we could go back and edit invoices that have already been created. But I understand the reasoning behind it. I would also like to see more advanced/flexible reporting. I like that you are able to give users different levels of access and the reporting is very robust. Their customer service is top-notch! Cons Most payment software provides the user id for transactions and Chargify currently doesnt have this feature. Pros Our external auditors were included in the evaluation and selection process for a GAAP compliant revenue recognition package. During the audit, I was able to use SaaSOptics to quickly and easily provide revenue recognition reports and deferred revenue calculations that were reviewed and approved by our auditors. With the help of the SaasOptics implementation team, we were able to import 5 years of detail invoicing activity from QuickBooks and build a supportable balance sheet and approved revenue history. The result was a successful audit followed by the ability to provide all of the revenue reporting and analytics that our investors requested in a timely manner. SaaSOptics gave me the ability to provide deep insights into our customers, revenue patterns and our business almost instantaneously because of the reporting and analytic tools that are an integral part of the package. Cons I would like to the month end financial accounting interface to be more automated. Plus, we now pay a lot more for the service, enough to encourage us to build our own software. Pros Automation and limited intervention which is what we require for an online system Cons Support being offshore often takes a long time to get results when this is critical for our business. Chargify still has manual intervention, raising manual invoices when payments drop off. Less than ideal! Now we have invoices being pushed through with multiple months on them, which we now have to manually fix, otherwise our income would be overstated!!! They definitely got the job done for us. Pros Flexible and easy to use. It has the right combination of flexibility and ease of setup. Price points are a great feature. And - most of all - they've really worked hard to improve it over the last several years. Cons There are still some UX issues, like the way the "Catalog" page is built in the admin: if you have a lot of products, components, and coupons, it becomes quite difficult to use. The reporting area used to be very limited, but it has been improved dramatically. It still needs some additional work to make it more robust, but they're on the right path. Pros It can both handle credit card payments and send invoices. Cons 1: It's really hard to reconcile payments from our payment gateway (Braintree) with credit card charges. We are having to pay a contractor tens of thousands of dollars to build an integration for this. 2: Chargify cannot generate EDI compliant invoices. This is becoming a pre-requisite in several European markets, meaning that for some of our customers, we need to move them from automatic non-EDI invoices in Chargify to manually created EDI-invoices in a different system. It fulfills 95% of our daily business needs. Great service! Pros I like how easy it is to use and how seamless it integrates with other online apps (shopify, mailchimp etc) Cons I wish the email tool allowed for you to style emails better. The user interface is clunky and limited. Also I wish the integration with mailchimp passed along the subscription status of "pending cancellation". That way we could set up an automatic email campaign in mailchimp that is sent to users who change their status. It would help us save subscribers before they cancel. Chargify let us get up and running quickly and has kept pace with our needs as we grow. Pros Easy integration brought us to Chargify and it has been consistently good. The simple interface and a fair number of modifications have been great to manage our billing system without having to master an overly complex system. Cons We sell recurring and also Pay As You Go subscriptions. Recurring works great and our customers love it. Our Pay as You Go customers complain from time to time because their statement can arrive up to 30 days after their purchase. That makes them assume they have be billed on a recurring plan. Pros We've used Chargify to handle recurring monthly billing for a wide array of product (or offers). So far we've been very impressed with the flexibility of this tool - it can handle many different client requests and payment scenarios from invoices (paid via check) which aren't as ideal, to ACH and credit card payments. Cons Moving between subscriptions, offers, offer sign up pages, and the many different screens can become cumbersome, though this is to be expected when each 'product' of our is a unique subscription. The tool works for our needs, though isn't 100% designed for this purpose. Pros The software fits the bill for what our business needs. Easy to use and navigate. Customer service is superior! Cons The only ad on I would like is to get notified when a customer updates their payment portal without having to call on my IT to create a webhook to do the job. Reason for choosing Maxio They provided a form that was easily created and integrated. A form that allows rules for many different options of subscriptions. Pros Chargify is wonderful because it allows you to do so much in one space. Our company struggled to find a place we could change billing, refund, and cancel accounts without having to go across multiple platforms. Cons My only con to this software is I wish you could make refunds further back than 120 days. It can get tricky when we need to refund more and end up having to contact our billing department to cut a check.
