Performance of the plugin was abysmal. 2. Geolocation was broken and costing us a small fortune. 3. Support was rude and, well, not supportive at all. Pros We used Store Locator Plus for many years. In the "old version", before we were forced to go to their recurring cost plan, the solution worked reasonably well. On paper, it has all of the things you'd need from such a solution. However, the implementation leaves much to be desired. Cons Store Locator Plus used to be pretty decent. Unfortunately, when we began needing support -- at the same time as our costs went up significantly -- we began looking for a replacement. But it didn't happen overnight. We built a few new company websites last year and we had a custom solution developed to handle the "store locator" function. It didn't work well, so we implemented SLP, a plugin we had used for years on the old versions of these websites. We ended up having to go to a higher cost plan, but we had many problems with the plugin. When we finally got it up and running, we were wholly unimpressed with the performance. Full page load was 15-25 seconds on each locator page. Despite the help of two different development agencies, working with SLP support, this never got much better. Our Google API usage for geolocating also went through the roof! We went from $0 each month for years (under the free tier) to over $500/month average and spiking to nearly $800! Numerous conversations and complaints with SLP support yielded no solution; we were stuck paying thousands of dollars per year. We suspect that geolocation was occuring every day for each of the 3,400 locations despite all related options in the plugin's admin panel being disabled AND the Google API key being (supposedly) removed from the admin panel as well. Cons Complexity of package groups to figure out the feature set needed led to incompatibilities with our WordPress installation. Response from Vendor February 24, 2020 Our WordPress add on package offerings has been greatly simplified over the past 2 years. We have THREE options available, one for UX changes (Experience add on), one for bulk location management (Power add on) and one for Premium features + expedited support (Premier subscription). We also launched a SaaS option that works on any web presence platform.
