Pros: Very easy to add lyrics to the presentation, integrated nicely with other products most churches probably use anyways.

Cons: I am currently using version 6 and version 4.5. I am sticking with 4.5 for now because I can't find a good way to use my keyboard on version 6. In version 4.5 you can use the arrow keys to navigate the cues without firing them, then hit enter on the one you want to fire to the presentation. Maybe I just don't know how to use the newer software, but it feels a lot harder to control since I'm using my mouse a lot more. (on my laptop I want to stay away from the trackpad as much as possible!) You can go through (sort of) the cues with your arrow keys but enter isn't the way to fire the cues, and I have a lot of volunteers that help me out with running media, so I want things to be as simple as possible but also flexible enough to skip cues if need be, so telling them to just press spacebar isn't always the best way to do it either.

There's also some overall clunky things in the newer version with editing songs and text cues and how it reformats when you try to repaginate things to your liking.

It looks like a nice try, there's just enough finnicky things about it to keep me tied to the older, slower 4.5 version for now.

Overall: I've been using MediaShout weekly since 2009. I've learned most of the tricks, bugs and shortcuts to the older 4.5 version, but I haven't really tried version 6 a ton because I can't get it to do what I want all the time.

We appreciate the feedback. V6 is a little different- it puts more at your fingertips without going to different layers to edit. Multiple parts of the program are "active" at the same time. We tried to allow for things like entering numbers and pressing enter to fire, but the challenge was that commands were being sent to the editing functions and not just to the control functions. However, there are a couple of ways to navigate and fire cues such as the F7 and F9 keys, or like you said, the space bar. You can even assign custom keys. You only need to click to jump to out of order. I do realize that is common, so I hear you. For text editing, be sure you have page breaks inserted (Ctrl + Enter or right click and select "Page Break" in a text box). This keeps your pages split as you want, regardless of changes to text size or text boxes for instance. Let our support know (mediashout.com/support) if you have specific questions so we can help. Thanks again!

Pros: First and foremost, their customer service / support is the best. Any issue (my own or theirs) I've ever had the MediaShout team has effectively and efficiently solved to my utmost satisfaction. The team is very knowledgeable about their software, know it inside out, and are on top of their game with it. [No non-english speaking people reading from a script with these guys!] They are tirelessly patient and extremely concerned with making sure my experience with MediaShout is the best they can make it. That alone makes the money spent on the software well worth it!

Secondly I love that I can edit the presentation on the fly and live. My Pastor has a tendency to ask for something to be done right BEFORE service starts. Can you show this? Can you add this scripture? You can do all that easily during service with just a few clicks! We couldn't do that before. It's a win/win for us. Pastor's happy and we're happy!

And thirdly, I love that I can now spend more of my time focusing on the pictures / graphics that I want to use instead of spending the majority of my time on formatting and setting up road maps for our worship songs. MediaShout allows you to format the entire cue or script easily! Setting up road maps [that my worship leader changes each time we sing it] is a breeze. Just drag and drop everything in the order you want it and wallah!

And the best part, with the words showing up on the stage with the next line feature, MY team thinks I'm a rockstar!

Cons: I don't like that the main stage and the stage are tied so closely together when creating lyrics. I'm very anal about word placement in regards to the picture / graphic I am using. One slight change on the main effects the words on the stage as well as the next line feature. I know I can use the alignment buttons the software provides, but like I said, I'm anal about word placement. I would also like the ability to change the position of the words that show on the stage without it affecting the words or the next line feature as well.

Although the MediaShout customer service is top notch and the support they offer is the best service around, I do wish their user forum was a bit more active. You can learn a lot about how to use a program more effectively by communicating with other end users. I have yet to find a forum within [or without] MediaShout that actively offers this valuable resource.

Pros: Mediashout visually enriches our Sunday morning worship experience. ** Our pastor uses sermon graphics or short video clips to support various sermon points. It is easy to import these into the script for him. **We love the time saving option of downloading scripture and song lyrics. ** We have an awesome choir that does special performances such as an Easter Cantata or Christmas concert. It is so easy to attach the background music mp3 to a title slide and then go right into beautiful graphics which visually support the song. **It is very easy to use MediaShout to set the mood for a special service -- especially more pensive services such as Maundy Thursday, Good Friday or our Blue Christmas service. **We've done some beautiful memorial services using customized slide backgrounds and photo slide shows with music behind the pictures. They are very easy to accomplish with MediaShout. **It is fun and easy to incorporate music lyric videos into our contemporary Wednesday evening service, using all or part of a video or even stopping it in the middle and restarting later. **We can import an picture of something that happened earlier in the service (i.e. a Baptism) and show it on the screens as a closing slide -- that's how easy it is. **The Customer Support team is A--mazing!! They ALWAYS go out of their way to help and advise us. ** We are an all volunteer team of 4 people, ages 65 to 80!!! If we can use this product, anybody can!

Cons: The learning curve from MediaShout 5 to MediaShout 6 was pretty steep. We had some frustrations making the switch. MediaShout 6 has had a few glitches, most of which have been fixed with upgrades. Customer Support has been awesome throughout it all.

Pros: I love the numerous features and options that help to make for a vibrant worship service. Most of all, I love the wide selection of Bible translations that are available without the need of having to purchase a separate license for each translation. This is really the main reason that we chose MediaShout above the others.

Cons: It can be a bit complicated to operate the software. Stability is a bit of an issue. Even with a powerful machine, it may crash from time to time.

I am not thrilled with the past licensing model that at times necessitated having to potentially purchase a new license if a computer crashed. It would be nice to have an option where licenses could be activated/deactivated via a secure login. However, I think that the new licensing model which makes it more cost effective just to purchase unlimited licenses will remedy this issue.

Finally, upgrade pricing is too high.

Overall: This software helps to enhance the spread of important information, it helps to enhance worship services, and is very cost effective.

Hey Gary,

Thank you for the review! We've found MediaShout to be a very stable program among church presentation software. Occasional crashing can normally be attributed to outdated graphics drivers, implementation of PowerPoint or mis-matched codec settings.

We also look forward to the day when users can deactivate "dead" computers via their secure logon to their MediaShout account. It is unfortunate that computers can become unusable before you have a chance to deactivate. In that instance, just give us a call -- or submit a ticket or chat -- and let us know the name of the computer in question and we will deactivate it on our end, opening that activation up for your later use. It wouldn't necessitate purchasing another activation to use on the replacement computer.

Again, thanks, and be blessed!

The software is very powerful and has features for every size church and way/style of worship.

Pros: It allows me to use beautiful motions as backgrounds and I can put text over the motions. It's easy to use and very well supported by a team of very knowledgeable and helpful Christian people. I don't use/need even half of the functionality but what I do use allows me to create wonderful hour-long services in a liturgical "high church" setting. I love my work as a visual worship leader and could not even begin to do my church justice without this wonderful and powerful software.

Cons: Same thing with all software I guess ... when big new releases come out, the learning curve is very rough. Part of that is on my shoulders because I'm not a young techy ... but wow sometimes I wonder why developers don't take into consideration the stress it creates and time required to have the user interface change so drastically that the user feels lost and has to start from scratch. And you know how much time we have on our hands. But, bottom line is the software and support is awesome and I love it.

Overall: The software is built and designed for churches ... and allows me to support our worship services with spectacular visuals and a smooth running one hour services. The team of support people is outstanding. This software is the bomb and I love it.

Mediashout v6 supports almost anything we wish to accomplish as a church presentation program.

Pros: Ease with which a queue can be laid out and understood by a completely new operator. The addition of comments and sections keeps the clutter of a long program manageable. I also like the ability to immediately edit lyrics, to easily change backgrounds and to specify where I wish to place all of the various media in a networked drive which greatly simplifies backups. The operator interface seems well laid out for use in the service. The customer support is absolutely STELLAR. Extremely knowledgeable and curteous support persons smooth over any issues which could be otherwise frustrating. I love the tutorial videos which seem complete for most operations and is a great introduction to new users.

Cons: Somewhat inconsistent or confusing song editor when inputting/editing lyrics. Function key F8 sometimes will not stop a cue and sometimes the spacebar will not advance a page within a cue, but there are others ways to accomplish these. Dragging and dropping a media selection within a queue is a bit "touchy" and sensitive to small mouse motions. There have been a few annoying instances where the computer has "frozen" prior to a service while running Mediashout, but to be fair, these instances are few indeed and it is unclear where to place the blame. Technology is notoriously fickle.

Overall: Ease with which a presentation queue can be constructed and displayed. All manner of media can be easily employed.

Pros: The program is very easy to use and covers all our needs as a church. Being able to show lyrics and Bible verses and ppts seemlessly makes MS6 worth it. Being able to open multiple presentations is a useful new feature.

Cons: We have encountered random crashes and bugs in the program. Even those are rare, it does get annoying if that happens during service. When moving between decks, it feels like MS6 is moved backwards in comparison to MS5 and MS4. Being able to skip slides without having to use the mouse is very useful to our church and using the arrow keys then entering was a valuable feature that was lost.

Finally, an update to the Android version of MSRemote to match the iOS would improve our experience.

Hey Alwin,

Thank you for the review! I'm sorry you've encountered occasional "buggy" crashing issues. I would mention that crashing, though rare, is often caused due to a Windows Update changing settings in your machine. As a software, MediaShout is supremely stable and will only crash, for instance, if you have outdated video card drivers, PowerPoint implementation, or mis-matched codec settings. When something like that happens, reach out to us -- submit a ticket, get on our chat line, etc. We're here to help!

Thanks, and be blessed!

Pros: It will do all sorts of things, pretty much anything you want.

Cons: I've used Media shout from versions 3 through 6. 5 was great - I loved it. Easy to use. Virtually no learning curve. Very intuitive. Then someone decided to make major changes on version 6. Very cumbersome. Hard to figure out. Not intuitive at all. I actually hate it, but have not choice but to use it. Even after nearly 2 years, I still can't stand version 6.

One of the most annoying is that things like column width on the screen, remote on/off, preview screens, compact script - none of those things save with the program. So if you have to do a quick reboot, the program comes up with several things you then have to do in addition in order to be back to where you set it.

The lyric setup - entering your own lyrics - is really cumbersome. Seems like the program is friendly to those who use the lyric service, but hard for those who want to do their own lyrics from scratch.

Overall: Does what I need it to do in setting up worship media. My experience was great for versions 3-5. They just really screwed up version 6. It does it all, but in the most cumbersome way.

Pros: Ease of use for my volunteers; Personal touch from customer support and that they understand my needs; Always ahead of my need with the functionality of the software.

Cons: Updates for the software seems to come out more often than I would like. Because I have volunteers that run the software in two services weekly (4 volunteers swap out weeks), they barely get used to the look and the feel of the program when it is time for the latest update and changes and the learning starts all over.

Overall: Ease of use and reliability are the main benefits. I also have always been impressed with the customer support. The way they have always understood what I am going through in my weekly schedule here at my church, understood my issue with me having to explain several times and helped me solve that issue.

Pros: My favorite thing about the software is the ability to change my presentation on the fly! Incorectly spelled words, wrong bible verse or version. This is one the main reasons we purchased this software.

Cons: The link to Songselect doesn't link. Freezing sometimes occurs in the middle of service and I have to reboot. This issue has greatly improved with the information provided under knowledge base for updates to Codec.

Overall: We have had Mediashout for over 5 years and the devlopers continue to update and improve the product. Purchasing the premium help has made a difference in my stress level coming in on Sunday morning and not having to worry that I can't get help with a last minute problems.

Thank you so much for the 5-star review! Like so many other churches, we are pleased that you have had a great experience with MediaShout.

This morning, we were able to talk on the phone and you mentioned that the SongSelect issue cleared itself up about a month ago. Because we have not received calls on this issue, we are curious if it was an issue outside of MediaShout. If you are experiencing any issues whatsoever, we are here to help. God bless you and your ministry.

Our church uses this software every week and it's got all the features we need, and then some.

Pros: The MediaShout people are super helpful and are constantly working to improve their product. They don't sell you something and then leave you hanging. One time I sent in a question just before the holidays. I got an answer as soon as the office was open after Christmas was over. I followed the instructions step by step and it totally fixed my problem.

They are very friendly, knowledgeable, quick to respond, and speak my language. Oh, and they love the Lord Jesus Christ and live to serve him, and in so doing, they help us and they help meet the needs of the churches that buy their product.

Cons: Rather a steep learning curve, but that's because there are so many features to learn. So it's sort of a con but not really. If you have the time to learn the software, you will NOT be disappointed!

There are glitches with every software program and MediaShout is no exception. However, if you call for help right away they can either help walk you through the fix or give you a workaround.

Pros: MediaShout had great customer service that understood what our church needed from the software. Overall, it was pretty easy to use. It came with a number of backgrounds and Bible versions preloaded in the software.

Cons: While the software was easy to use, there is a somewhat steep learning curve. For the price, it lacks some major features other worship software options. Depending on your situation, the extra money might be worth it. The major con is that each song must be manually entered. If this has been modified in a recent update, please disregard this con.

Overall: I used multiple versions of this software for about three years. The upgrades were better each time they came out. After the learning curve, the software is easy to use. That being said, there are better options out there if you're willing to spend a little more.

Thank you so much for your review! Since version 4 (2009), songs no longer have to be manually entered. With our SongSelect integration, its a breeze to add in lyrics! We would love to also know what major features it lacks. It could be that they are simply overlooked as we have features that no one has. Let our support team know if we can help further!

Pros: Functionality. Does things I can't do with other presentation software. I like especially the timed advance feature.

Cons: Problems caused by unexpected and seemingly random behaviors. Specifically, the timed advance feature doesn't behave consistently. I get a cue set up with pages that advance perfectly, and then the next time I run the script, significant time has been added to some of the pages.

Overall: Mixed bag. Great when it works. The software defaults to single screen mode when something else outside of MS is projected and requires the computer to be set to duplicate the control screen rather than Extend. This causes confusion when we switch back to MS and set the computer back to Extend.

Pros: I confess, I haven't actually been behind the wheel driving it during a service, but I've installed it and tested it and talked with support. It's a great product with a great company behind it and an excellent value. You could just use PowerPoint, but this thing is optimized for showing stuff on a screen during a church service, and seems to have all the bells and whistles you could need.

When I've needed support, they've been incredibly, well, supportive. Actually, the last couple times I needed support, I went to their website to look for how to contact them and instead quickly found an article with exactly the information I needed to make sure everything would be solid for Sunday.

We use it to power three video outputs - the main screens up front, the control interface in the booth, and a confidence monitor on the back wall so the people on stage can see what's coming up next.

Cons: I've had trouble wrapping my brain around all the features and how to setup the presentation, or script, or whatever its called, but the guys that actually use it during the service seem to have picked it up just fine without a problem.

Oh, and there's a slight lag on the confidence monitor. Seems like it doesn't change until it's done with the transition on the front screens.

We selected MediaShout to assist our visual needs for our Sermons. It has positively enhanced them.

Pros: The support team is extremely supportive and concerned about our needs. They are quick to address a support request and can explain the issue and resolution is terms that are easy to understand. They don't speak at you they speak to you, and that is a huge plus dealing with support issues. The software is flexible, adaptable and easy to train our members on how to use it. Their library of tutorials and FAQ allows you to try and work through at your pace, any issue that may arise or new feature to use.

Though we haven't taken advantage of using a tablet at the pulpit, we were excited to know that we could attach one to better help the pastor navigate through his slides.

Cons: There have been a couple of times when Windows has updated and it effective the way MediaShout looked on the screen. But MediaShout was quick to acknowledge the issue and walk us through the correction.

Overall, very usable software. We can use different types of media in one presentation.

DeWayne, Thank you so much for your review. Our third party software company pushed out an update (unrelated to any MediaShout functions or features) that created this issue in May. However, our support staff was available on that Saturday from 11am-11pm and on Sunday from 7am-11am. We sent out many emails to our customers that support would be available that weekend and notified customers via pop-ups on our website as well. I'm very sorry that we weren't able to help personally like we able for others. As always, let us know how we can continue to serve you and your church. God Bless!

Pros: The feature I like most is the ability to edit a cue while displaying a cue. I like that Media Shout gives you all the Bible versions included in the cost of the software. When displaying a song we can see the complete words to each lyric so that the song leader jumps around then we can quickly see which lyric to display. I always like a company the is totally North America support. It appears all the support personnel also are Media Shout users in their local church. It is always a pleasure to talk to support, great Christian people.

Cons: There is a learning curve which requires new users to spend a lot of time learning how to use the software. The training videos don't cover all areas but a quick support call will quickly get you up to speed.

Overall: We can fully support our pastor with graphics, videos, Bible verses, and text. We also can easily display the words to our worship songs for our membership.

Pros: It's easy for our volunteers to learn the basics. It is capable of displaying all forms of media we use. I like ability to create custom templates for lyrics.

Cons: When using the inline editor on lyrics, the cursor jumps up to the top of the page whenever I hit backspace and makes editing more tedious than it needs to be. Crashes often when using large powerpoints. At times settings seem to spontaneously change and I know it's not because someone other than myself was using the program.

Pros: Ease of use for a beginner. As I've used it more, I've learned more & more things about the software, and have become very proficient in how we use it at our church. I'm sure I'm only scratching the surface of its full feature set, but for our church, we are very pleased with it.

Cons: Occasionally, something doesn't work quite work as expected or the way it did before - but in each case, I've contacted support and got it working correctly again. In most cases, it was caused by someone changing a setting that was expected to have an impact. We're beginners, and don't have a professional team running our audio-visual equipment, so sometimes we cause the problems ourselves.

Overall: We are a small church and do not have an audio-video group or experiences in running software like MediaShout. I asked people at my work who attend other churches about what they have used, and MediaShout was one of the recommendations. As I researched them, their feature set and ease-of-use, along with the ability to buy a computer equipped with the necessary video card and other hardware, made them our best option. MediaShout support also helped me with planning the purchase of the 3 TV monitors & how to install them with the computer. Overall, it was a great success for a small church doing it on our own, with no prior experience.

MediaShout is a simple platform for our volunteers to use.

Thank you for this review! We build MediaShout based on feedback from users like you, so hearing your thoughts helps us improve.

Regarding loopinb video, there are three scenarios. Playing a video directly from the web, of course, can't be looped, nor can a DVD. If you want to loop a video from a DVD you would need to convert that video into a file, like an MP4, using a video converter software -- there are many freewares available for that. To loop a video from a file, select the video in the edit window and, in the tool ribbon's Formatting section is a drop-down menu for playback. Change that to Loop (from the default setting of 1). You probably already knew that, but it was worth addressing.

Again, thank you! Be blessed!

User of Media Shout 10 yrs, I love that it incorporates many file formats into a Worship Service.

Pros: The easy to use 'drag and drop script' format and pre-installed songs, video backgrounds and Bible translations are a huge help for any church (especially smaller staffed churches like mine.) Whether you utilize all of the great features or only have time to create a simple Worship presentation, Media Shout proves to be much more user friendly and cost effective than Power Point or other affordable presentation software.

Cons: With occasional 3rd party updates, I have had to unexpectedly had to contact their excellent customer service to discover temporary work-arounds to allow Media Shout to continue to work well until their patch is completed (always in a timely manner, but never quick enough for that Sunday morning). Fortunately, their customer support is available on Sunday mornings for those few but vital times needed.

Pros: You can do most things under the one computer. No multiple machines or feeds required. This is very useful for a mobile church setup. It also comes with multiple features that you often have to pay extra for with other products such as loads of Bible versions, Songs and Hymnals.

MediaShout also has first grade tech support that quickly respond to issues encountered.

MediaShout has been faithfully serving our church and multiple ministries for over 15 years. Our church was one of the first users of this product in Australia.

Cons: Text editing is probably the weakest point, which we sometimes have to rely on PPT instead for better formatting, but MediaShout is overall a very strong and all rounded product.

Overall: Stability and mobility. I'm a life customer with MediaShout and would not hesitate to recommend it to other people.

Just so much fun to use!

Pros: With ease, you can use this. Any level from beginner to advanced will have no trouble using this product.

Cons: There aren't enough videos to find out about the little known features! I learned how to find out where your backgrounds are being read by watching the support go in to missing media. More vids, please!

Overall: I have used MS for 10 years and I have enjoyed watching it grow and flourish. Easy to learn, easy to expand knowledge and fun to play with. Not a whole lot of issues. Just keep your computer current!

Pros: I had questions about how to best create video content to be played on Media Shout. After a lot of questions on my part, I got very detailed, precise and easy to follow instructions from the technical support team that allowed my videos to be played easily and with great resolution. The videos were for my own father's funeral and the help I got took away my confusion and stress about the correct output resolutions and compressions. I was so worried that if I chose the wrong settings the videos wouldn't play. Instead, with your tech support it went so smoothly.

I have been a broadcast television editor since 2001 and this has been the fastest and best tech support I have received in my entire career. Truly first class customer support!!!!

Cons: This software is wonderfully crafted for church presentations. It may not be the best solution for a large corporate event but similarly the software for corporate events won't be as good for your church as MediaShout.

Pros: I love that those of us that are tech savvy can dig into the options and have some fun with our creativity, and yet simplify the screen with volunteer mode, so that our week-end volunteers don't feel intimidated........Oh and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that the updates have finally included compatibility with standard remotes.

Cons: The system sometimes freezes during service. My computer is more than capable of handling the software, so I have been trying to isolate why we get occasional glitches. At this point I am blaming it on older video background loops that are not mP4. I don't know why wmv files would cause an issue, but when I don't use them, I don't have issues.

Overall: I have been with mediashout since version 4 was in service. I feel like there have been a number of growing pains getting to the current system, but it has been worth it.

I have used MediaShout since 2007 and have found it to be a robust program and easy to learn.

Pros: What I like most about the software is the options you have to easily mix your media types (text, fonts, graphics, etc.)

Cons: What I like least about the program is its' inflexibility to easily change the background on slides. This previously was super easy, but for some reason this option no longer exists as it once did.

Overall: We are able to give worshippers a integrated way to speak to them which enhances the worship experience.

Hi Larry,

Thank you for your review! We appreciate your feedback and will use it in future development to improve our product for the end user.

Regarding changing backgrounds on individual 'slides,' or pages, this can be accomplished by simply dragging and dropping (from your file browser) on to the pages you wish to change the background on. To change the whole cue, simply drag it on to the cue, inside the script.

I hope this helps in the use of MediaShout 6!

Again, thanks, and be blessed.

Pros: The ease of use is the best feature. It makes training new people on the software a breeze and it so easy for so many different types of people to learn. It is also easy to navigate to use on multiple monitors, screens, and outputs.

Cons: If you don't stay up to date with the most recent versions it can be very difficult to update songs, features to later versions of the product. This is a bit irritating and keeps us updating more regularly, which is expensive.

Pros: Bible verses and lyrics for most of the songs that we sing during a worship service are included so I don't have to type in all of the words. It is wonderful that I can just select the items and load them into a presentation. I download songs that aren't included using SongSelect, too. I love that I can quickly correct or make changes during a presentation. We often include videos seamlessly. MediaShout enables our worship services to be professional looking without having a professional preparing them!

Cons: There's so much function and capabilities that I am not aware of. I wish I knew better how to use the software and even be aware of the things that it can do.

Overall: I use MediaShout for our worship services. I prepare the presentations and show them during the worship services.

Pros: I love the built in libraries and the ease of creating and updating the libraries to fit our needs for our church! And if I ever a problem, the support team is quick to respond and help me out!

Cons: There are a few features, like announcements, I have yet to use as I haven't found the right info to help me figure out how to fire these off and play appropriately. There also is a delay in transitioning between cues within the software that does not happen on our display screens, takes a bit to refresh.

Overall: I've been using MediaShout for our church services for 5 years! Each upgrade throws a bit of a learning curve initially but once you work through those and uncover the new features - it has been fantastic! There are a few glitches here and there that you'll find as you work within the software regularly, but overall a great product for what we need!

Pros: Ease of dropping all formats of files into a presentation and it all works. I can import files with not issues and it does the rest. I like how i can prepare a presentation at home and drop it onto the cloud and pick it all up at church with no issues.

The ability to download and set the format from song select is awesome. Simple importing of sog library.

Cons: Learning the new set out. Having used Media shout for many years the main work bench has changed too many times and not always for the best. The current version however is great and so much better than the previous versions. Keep the updates happening just do not change the main set up screen.

Overall: Easy to use program that runs my church, meetings and more.

I even have older members who have learnt to use it as it was simple to run.

Pros: MediaShout 5 is a terrific software. Easy to use, fast with a lot of nice display qualities. It is the older product but so far it is superior for the smaller churches.

Cons: MediaShout 6 - takes longer to format a service. A lot of feature from 5 were not incorporated into 6.

For a smaller church it is not as functional/useful as 5.

Overall: We have stopped trying to use MediaShout6 as it was too cumbersome to use and actually fell short of the greatest features in 5. We don't have the flexibility to change on the fly with 6. I know it's a mixed basket. We are not a mega church and pretty much everything on 6 is geared to that type of church - or so it seems and feels. They are a great group of people. I would wish that they had both products being updated to keep their strong points so that both small and large churches could have terrific programs that fit their needs more.

We were a MediaShout customer for many years but had too many problems with the program.

Pros: Not much. It was affordable? We had to switch to another program because MediaShout was so unusable.

Cons: MediaShout stops working and crashes multiple times during editing of the slides. Customer service was not good, never answered the phone even during the customer service hours and took a long time to call back. The tutorial videos were not helpful at all. The software does not have a user-friendly interface in general but is especially unusable to people who have no experience with the program. Steep learning curve transitioning from MediaShout 5 to MediaShout 6. No matter how many times we talked to customer service, crashing problems were never resolved. Program was extremely slow. Many other problems but cannot list them all because of Capterra word limit.

Overall: None.

We've had a few conversations with this customer and provided answers and support to them multiple times even when our offices were closed (Sundays). Many of the issues appear to be related to computer hardware, but unfortunately our senior tech hasn't had an opportunity to look at it with them. Instead, it seems as if the finger is pointed at our software and our team when the customer may not have a full understanding of how software and hardware impact each other. In addition, they have posted negatively on numerous sites because we won't provide a refund (which is clearly stated in our policies) instead of allowing our team to support them like we do for our many other customers. We are in this position to serve the church because we love doing that. But we will not allow people to falsely accuse us of things we have not done. We have reached out to this user multiple times since this post and will continue to because that is our heart and commitment to the church.

Pros: Great product for building traditional services with liturgy and contemporary services with the latest music.

Cons: I still have times when the program locks up and kicks me off. Usually this happens when I am working on music or music backgrounds.

Overall: The software makes it so much easier to build services for the screens than using something like Power Point. I am able to build items into the service that can be reused which saves me lots of time.

Pros: Gee, there are so many pros with this program that it is difficult to pick just one. Maybe, if I hae to pick one I would lean to the lyric library. It is so simple to use existing songs and a piece of cake to add new ones.

Cons: Once again this is hard to to come up with. Maybe I could say that with MediaShout 5, we were able to edit the lyric library ID numbers where in 6 this can't be done.

Pros: My church moved from EasyWorship to MediaShout, and the difference was like night and day to me. MediaShout is more complex, and somewhat difficult to learn, but it had one thing that EasyWorship did not and that was documentation and because of the MediaShout quickly became my favorite worship software. Before I changed churches, I was able to create complex presentations with ease. Great job guys!

Cons: As I said it is difficult to learn at first, but there is excellent documentation provided, and tons of walkthroughs online.

Overall: Was able to create complex and and beautiful presentations.

Pros: The software is specifically designed for use in church setting and is therefore much more focused on delivering a clear, concise message.

Cons: Media Shout 6 was, for me, a major leap from Media Shout 5 which I was used to coming from a Media Shout 4 user. So I have not made the full transition to MS6. However if you have no "baggage" with MS5, I could well see that MS6 would be a great piece of software just as MS5 is. It is just that the jump from 5 to 6 is, in my opinion too great with a completely new look and feel.

Overall: Overall the Media Shout family of church presentation software is excellent and it allows us to seamlessly integrate text, visual, images, sound and video into a cohesive worship service experience. The only downside is the integration of PowerPoint.

Hey Kirby,

Thanks for taking the time to write a review! While Powerpoint has been challenging for many worship presentation software companies due to Microsoft Updates, we do have a couple of great options that get the job done in that area one way or another.

We were surprised to see that you found ProPresenter easier to use! While we have nothing bad to say about their product at all, we normally hear the opposite about MediaShout being the easiest to learn. We fully believe we are the most accessible presentation software for any church, regardless of size or technical skill level.

If you're running into any specific issues, reach out to our team and I'm sure we can make things easier for you, and quickly at that! Whether it be providing extra training resources or just a simple question/answer that makes a "light bulb go off," our support is very responsive and willing to help get you where you need to be.

Pros: It works, without having to spend a lot of money and time with it. We have staff that comes and go very fast getting a new person up to show a presentation around 10 or 15 minutes takes around an hour or two to for a person the be able to build a presentation. Love the facebook user group and videos.

Cons: Does not like to work with PowerPoint 365 have to log out of Media Shout we went to a feed computer when we have a full team. Our workaround for this is using a second machine which allows the worship team to check Lyrics while building the rest of the service.

Pros: This product makes "live" presentations a breeze to prepare and operate. Takes about 20-25 minutes on an average Sunday morning to prepare the day's presentation. The operation of the software is quite simple and easy to use once you have a handle on how it works. It is great to be able to switch between Bible versions, PowerPoint! presentations, song lyrics and videos all in one "script".

Cons: It requires a certain level of expertise to operate and maintain, needing good training for newbies. Even for a "techie" it has some quirks that are not always intuitive.

Overall: This is an all-encompassing solution for our church's projection needs. We are able to accomplish all of our projection from one central software solution

Pros: I grew up using this software to run media for our church. It was super simple and easy to teach others. It had all the basic functions necessary for church presentation. It's an easy windows program that's a MASSIVE upgrade from powerpoint and not as complciated to use as ProPresenter.

Cons: It doesn't have all the fancy options that ProPresenter has. Also, I'm seeing the price of MediaShout has increased significantly, which is a con.

Overall: I loved using it and found it super fun and easy. I could explain to someone else how to use it in minutes. It's great to be able to do things in the background while a slideshow is going or a video is running. It's easy to set moving backgrounds and it has pretty good default art setups for church presentation.

Pros: The way I can edit and create slide without disturbing the main view. Also the availability of many Bible versions, enabling us to assist our Pastor in delivering the Message of God to the Church.

Hey Robert,

I'm sorry you had troubles with using MediaShout. We strive to make the program functional in response to user feedback so it is designed with users in mind.

I'd like to address the refund policy. We offer a generous 30-day trial of our product with only one limitation: Only the KJV bible is available in the trial. No watermark, and all other areas are fully functional so you can get a solid feel for whether the software works for you or not. For that reason we don't offer refunds.

Have you used the program recently? The new user interface is developed to be more user-friendly and makes dealing with layers easier than ever.

Please call and ask for me if you'd like to discuss this further. I'd like to hear more of your feedback.

Have a blessed weekend!

Pros: I love MediaShout 6! I've been using MediaShout since Version 4 (2010). It's straightforward, easy to use, and makes it easy to have eye-catching graphics & videos to enhance the worship experience. Love that you can import song lyrics directly from SongSelect too. And customer support has been greatly improved. I can usually get a call or message back within a short amount of time. They've even remotely fixed problems.

Cons: Every software has its glitches, but the guys at MediaShout are usually quick to come out with an update that fixes it. As I said above, customer support has improved over the years.

Pros: Easy to adapt to the software. I love the idea of trying to put backgrounds relevant to the sermon. Some people are visual learners, and I try to make their experience as interesting as the auditory learner. It is also a great way to have everyone reading the same scriptures not matter the translation.

Cons: There are not a lot of background choices built into this version. Previous versions really had a lot of options for backgrounds, moving and stills.

everything centralized, so that someone broadcasting in my place would have easy access to" ALL" Media Shout has to offer.

Overall: The functionality to pull new lyrics from Planning Center Online has been a great feature we have recently started using. We still have challenges with this, but love the option instead of just searching online for lyrics.

My experience with MediaShout has been very positive. It definitely enhances our worship services.

Pros: 1. User friendly, easy to use

2. Great tutorials and online help

3. Great technical support

4. Great use of other software like Powerpoint and video players

5. I love how you can even use URLs from the internet

6. I love how the MediaShout developers continue to improve the product

Cons: 1. Application can be a little quirky at times so you have to shut it down and start it again

2. Tech support is still good but doesn't respond as quickly as it did in the past

3. Doesn't always keep the format of text templates such as keeping the text centered

Overall: Present quality graphics, song lyrics, sermon points, slideshows, and videos in a single application.

Pros: Every time I have an issue (and there have been plenty, usually operator error), I reach out to MediaShout Support and they get back to me and help me out. They are just awesome.

One of my favorite features in the current version is the ability to have multiple presentations open in separate tabs. No more having a super long presentation for a weekend event that has four events. Just build out the four presentations and the weekend is set.

Cons: If I had to pick something, it would be configuring the Announcement Loop. This one always gets me, it needs its own video.

Overall: MediaShout is exponentially more flexible than PowerPoint

Pros: Introducing new songs for worship use to be a big chore! We use to have to type out all the lyrics, which left lots of room for human error. MediaShout links directly with Song Select, making lyric additions a simple import. I also love the ability to add still photos and motion graphics to our worship lyrics. It's amazing how a carefully selected background can set the tone and add to the worship experience. I've had very positive feedback from our members since using this product for the last ten months. The software is very easy to use. The customer support is wonderful!

Cons: PowerPoint presentations can not be directly imported into the MAC version of this software, but PowerPoint slides can be converted to JPEGs and brought in that way, though it takes more time.

Overall: MediaShout has made creating worship lyric presentations a joy! It has greatly enhanced the worship at our church. It is very easy to learn, and it has wonderful customer support.

Pros: It makes setting up a slide deck to share worship songs, announcements, messages to be shown on a screen pretty easy.

Cons: When adding slides to a song, the background becomes invisible and i have to got to a previous slide and make visibility shown on all. Annoying.

Overall: We use Mediashout to project slides at Church for worship, including showing announcements before church and during, projecting a 5 minute countdown to show that church is about to begin. The message is more meaningful with images and scripture on slides for the ease of the audience to read. Every version gets easier to use. Especially happy with the new import feature to bring in whole slide decks from powerpoint without converting to jpeg first.

I have used MediaShout for over 10 years and have appreciated the continued advancements.

Pros: MediaShout is compatible with most software. It is easy to learn the basics but offers many advanced features that enhance what is displayed and played. They regularly update the application and add new features on a regular basis. Most customer service is good right after you buy something, but MediaShout has provided multiple ways to get help and answers to questions in a very timely basis.

Cons: Sometimes I will have an issue with sizing text in lyrics, but most of the time that is not a problem.

Overall: Allows for easy use of many different media formats and able to download lyrics and passages of scripture in seconds.

Pros: The software is very well thought out. There isnt any features that we as a church have needed that mediashout does not already have available. Also ease of editing slides on the fly is our single most convienent feature we have found!

Cons: Adding tags or customs lyrics in an existing song has been a challenge for us when using multiple output screens. There does not seem to be a straight forward and fast way to add the tag and get it displaying on the correct output screen. Mediashout 5 did have this feature configured well but we are still waiting to see it revised in mediashout 6.

Pros: MediaShout allows users to present a variety of media in a user-friendly interface while allowing access to edit media in real time! We have a team of several different volunteers that are able to navigate and edit as needed. Also, their customer care is top notch!

Cons: While the interface is user-friendly, it has had several updates for the various issues, especially this last year. But take heart, they have been very timely in their updates. They've been working hard to catch any bugs that come up.

Pros: My favorite new feature is the in line editor. It's very convenient to be able to edit slides while still running the program.

Cons: I don't like the way the cursor jumps back to the beginning of the cue when the text wraps to a new slide within the cue.

Overall: We started with Media Shout when we started using video presentation in our services 10 years ago. The updates and upgraded versions have continued to allow us to have a user-friendly software for our volunteers to operated for worship. The Plus Membership has been my favorite addition. Pros: Ability to quickly add and edit slides on the fly.

Setup recurring events.

Plan out the service weeks in advance

Cons: Clunky would be the best way to describe it.

Rendering times could be slow especially when changing slides (usually a several second delay).

All videos were stuck on a loop and you have to manually switch to the next one (the auto-advance feature either doesn't work or requires that you manually enter the length of each video).

Overall: It allowed our small church to play worship videos (we don't have a band).

It also allowed us to show the bible passages on the projector as they were being read so the parishioners could focus on the message rather than hunting the passage down in their Bibles.

Hey there!

Thanks for taking the time to review MediaShout. It looks like these issues are not problems with the program but configuration issues that can be resolved, or functions you may not be aware of how to use, and we'd be glad to help!

The program should run quickly and smoothly with no delay in rendering slides. If you're not seeing that, it could be anything from hardware to maybe even just a setting. Please contact our support team so we can help you find the answer. We have several ways to reach out at www.mediashout.com/support.

As for videos, there's a setting to play them "1" time instead of "Loop." There's also a setting to make them auto-advance at the end. Just choose advance at "End of Media" instead of choosing "Timed" and having to enter a specific length of seconds. If you have trouble finding those settings, let us know. It's a simple and quick answer that will save you tons of time.

Again thanks for your time and being a part of our MediaShout family!

The customer support for MediaShout is A+. They are so pleasant & helpful. Wish all were like them.

Pros: I appreciate the Bible Library and Hymn Library that comes with it. Saves me so much time.

There is so much you can do with this software. If you are a creative person, this will help satisfy your creative genius.

Cons: There are a few idiosyncrasies that surprised me, but once you know them, they are easy to work around. Example: I placed lyrics into my script. For some reason, there was a blank page after a verse. It was labeled as part of the verse, which I didn't notice. When I deleted the blank page, the entire verse deleted. Now I just skip the blank page.

Powerful software yet easy for our weekly screens operators. I recommend it!

Pros: The new interface for using MediaShout during the service is easy to use and give the our non-tech screen operators more confidence because they have a better grasp of where they are in relation to upcoming screen elements.

It is very easy to train even first timer on display process.

We like the ease of inserting Power Point presentations

Cons: Once in a while it become hard to find specific functions because there are so many of them. Usually we can use the help function and the answers are there. More a question of familiarity than a con.

Pros: MediaShout helps us create beautiful, inspirational presentations for our worship services. It is especially effective when we want to set a mood, such as during our Blue Christmas Service.

MediaShout really enhances the worship experience for our congregation.

Cons: The learning curve is fairly long. Training new volunteers is time consuming. But once they "get it" the software is easy to use.

Cons: There are really no bad things. The only thing I can think of is the few minor issues we have had using Mediashout 6 on the Mac. Those problems are isolated and very limited. Again with a phone call to support we are up and running.

Overall: The multi screen ability, the ease of use for even a first time volunteer, and just the overall look to the program.

Pros: Overall, the program is pretty user friendly; however, when I have problems/questions, I get amazing customer support (Adam DuBose). I'm a diehard powerpoint user (from waayyy back), so there are a few features I wish were available, but I've learned (again w/Adam's assistance) to come to terms with what this program CAN do.

Pros: Stage monitor, projector and operator monitors all showing different screens at the same time. Stage monitor gives just the lyrics with first line of the next slide. Multiple Bible versions and CCLI connection. Excellent support and customer service.

Cons: A bit pricey for a small congregation like mine, and there is a bit of a learning curve to do setup - BUT that's to be expected of such a full-featured program.

Hey Becky,

I'm glad you have had a good experience with MediaShout! We've found that, with frequent Windows updates, settings that help MediaShout run smoothly are changed without the end-user's knowledge. Some of these changes in settings can cause MediaShout to crash or freeze. We continue to create new updates to combat this issue and have made vast improvements in performance.

I hope MediaShout continues to be a vital part of your ministry.

Thanks, and be blessed,
Adam

Cons: Just that on the scripture slides, I cannot add the Bible version to be displayed on screen. I used to be able to do that in Version 5 and the first couple of months using Version 6, but something happened with an update and I cannot do that again. How can that be rectified?

Cons: Would like to be able to export slides from presentation into separate PDF/JPEG files so I can use them for video editing. Perhaps this will be available in subsequent releases. Implementing updates in Windows or due to new releases of MS6 seems to frequently cause issues with preset values such as codecs.

Cons: My biggest problem is the edit pane when adjusting text. I think I have everything left justified only to have a text cue come up in the middle of service center justified. Whenever you try to enter a line, the cursor disappears. More work needs to be focused on the text editor. It is not consistent. Also, whenever I run updates, it re-installs the KJV Bible. Overall: It offers to our congregation versatility in song selection. We have total access to songs, all stanzas and have a choice of what to project.

Pros: Ease of adding scripture and lyrics. The ability to remotely control it with a cellphone. And the ease of having multiple screens. There is a lot to love about this software

Cons: The inability to play powerpoint directly in the software is a big hassle. There are workarounds but all of those cause you to lose all animations. I hope the company will write their own powerpoint player into the system soon.

Overall: Super easy to use presentation software for church

Pros: We have used version 5 for about 3 years and it has been great, but the features in version 6 just rock the house! Easy to use, anyone can sit down and figure it out pretty quickly - it's very user friendly!

Cons: Really no complaints - we are very happy with it

Overall: Easy to use, very functional for our small church application. Price is right. And the support staff is always awesome to walk us through step by step and is extremely timely - we rarely have to wait for a response!

Pros: The software look great in front of the church. Once you know your way around the program it is easier to use as well.

Cons: Some things are still too complicated. For example- adding lyrics for worship songs, adding liturgies. Too many steps. It is not volunteer friendly.

Overall: It has been "up and down" over the past 10 years. At the start of our use of the software it was very complicated but many things have improved. It is not a program for people who are not tech savvy.

Pros: This is a very easy to use program that churches and organizations can organize their media for services and other functions. The learning curve is very quick and it comes with a nice assortment of backgrounds and motions.

Cons: I wish it was a bit more customizable in terms of importing fonts and backgrounds.

Chris, thank you for your review. We also agree that MediaShout is great for novice media users. We believe it also has the power and flexibility to be used by small to large church sizes. MediaShout 6 can use almost any background image and video inside of the program with just a few clicks. With fonts, MediaShout looks to the Windows fonts folder. So, simply add the fonts to the Windows Fonts folder and any OTF font should work! We make it super easy to use thousands of fonts and backgrounds. As always, if we can help support you and your ministry, please reach out. God bless.

Pros: That MediaShout has been updated as advances in technology are brought into use in Christian Service.

That it has evolved with Microsoft updates. This has been good as all of our operators also use Microsoft products.

Cons: That users have to remember all the add ins to also update, this does not come as part of the MediaShout

package.

Overall: That the process of Screening a Christian Service is smooth and adds value to the message to be given.

Pros: I like the many options Media Shout offers. Being able to you power point within MS, pulling graphics, movies, etc into the cue, the ability to change cues on the fly, etc

Cons: MS can take a while to load. i have had it quit working and we would have to restart MS. Luckily, the changes were NOT lost. We have also had problems with the setting the schedule of getting out of a loop and going to a set cue.

Overall: Love it

Pros: This is a great improvement over the previous versions. My tech team is having to un-learn MS5 :) I hear a lot of 'I can't find where to..." OH! you just click on it!

The ability to combine different forms of media in one presentation program is huge!

Cons: The arrow keys do not change the slides.

The second monitor is taken over, even when not presenting.

Overall: The ability to combine different forms of media in one presentation.

Pros: This software connects with the CCLI database for easy access to all of our church songs. A quick reordering of verses and a new background are all that's needed to get a new song in order.

Cons: PowerPoint and some video formats have a hard time loading into the sequence. This may be corrected with the newer versions of the program

Overall: We've used MediaShout for about 5 years at our church, and it has been very reliable.

Purchased a brand new computer, Software, Awesome training for our users and superb tech support!

Pros: It will run slides.

You can import from CCLI

You can add custom backgrounds and create set lists.

Much cheaper than other competitors products (ie. ProPresenter)

Cons: No editing slides on the fly if needed.

Overall platform feels very behind the times and harder to understand than most, updating and continual learning of the program was painful

Mac version seems like an after thought that always is years behind their PC version.

Overall: After using this product for almost 5 years and then switching to ProPresenter I never tell people to use this product. I only ever suggest this because of the price difference.

Hey Trevor,

It sounds like you're using an older version of MediaShout because editing on the fly is one of the hallmarks of the current version, MediaShout 6. I also wonder if you had the original version of the Mac software, which has been updated to match the Windows version within the past 2 years.

Should you decide to return to MediaShout, remember your license is still active and available for your use. Take a look ar the new version and even download and use it as a trial for 30 days for free! I think you'll appreciate the difference!

Have a blessed day!

We have found the technical support to be excellent. The team has gone above and beyond to help.

Pros: The ease at which you can build a script. It's extremely versatile in it's ability to import from many media types .

Cons: When adding lyrics it seems you need to add the all at one time. After adding a couple of songs if I add a different kind of que I have to save go out of Media Shout completely and then reload to add another lyric but this could be something I'm doing to make this happen.

Media Shout has helped take our service to the next level.

Pros: What I like the most about Media Shout is being able to broadcast song lyrics for people to sing to in a professional about visually appealing way.

Cons: What I like least about Media Shout is how you have to go to a couple of different screens to fix a typo if you are in the middle of a presentation; however, that can be fixed with some basic proofreading.
