### "Let me shout about Mediashout"

February 14, 2023

5.0

I am very pleased with the software and think that anyone who needs a quality presenter software should definitely put this on the top of your try list.

Pros

The product is remarkably simple to teach others how to use. The software is very adaptable for systems. I like the fact that it can handle multiple displays so easily.

Cons

Updates can cause the software to delay when loading, which is only a concern when running the software.

### "MediaShout exceeded our expectations"

June 18, 2026

5.0

We made the move from ProPresenter to MediaShout a couple of years ago, and it's been a great fit for our church. Since most of our presentation team is made up of volunteers, we needed software that was easy to learn and use, and MediaShout has been exactly that. Features like SongSelect integration save us a lot of preparation time, and having dozens of Bible translations included makes adding scripture quick and simple. We also appreciated being able to purchase the software outright instead of paying an ongoing subscription. On top of that, their support team has always been helpful whenever we've needed assistance.

Pros

I loved how easy it was for my volunteers to pick it up. We reached out to support a couple of times to get started but then after that - we were good to go. I also appreciate some of the new features MediaShout just added to make it easier for me to find new backgrounds.

Cons

Only available on Windows — we had to make sure our presentation computer was a PC, but that wasn't a big deal for us.

Switched from

[ProPresenter](https://www.capterra.com/p/170172/ProPresenter/)

Price was the main reason - ProPresenter just got to be too expensive. We also had some new Volunteers join and our old media person left - so no one knew how to use ProPresenter and we weren't able to learn easily.

When we first started using media shout it seemed OK but as time went on it seemed to be issue after issue with poor customer service.

### "Mediashout is such a great option"

April 15, 2025

5.0

Great product that did exactly what was required of it. I used it consistently for about 4 years.

Pros

Media shout did a great job of making the slides on our monitors efficient and without flaws. It was easy to implement and cut out computer screens showing during church.

Cons

It was laggy when using multiple different programs at the same time. We only used one program at a time due to this.

### "Pretty good church presentation software"

August 20, 2020

4.0

Mediashout let us create a more engaging service for our guests and congregation. We were able to not only have lyrics on the screen, but give them a wide variety of backgrounds and animations. Additionally we could automate some slides like our announcements to run on a timer until we were ready to proceed. And the ease of adding multiple media sources like audio and video gave us new avenues to share more content with our live audience.

Pros

Mediashout provided us with advanced presentation options for our church, giving us lyrics, slides, transitions, media playing capability, and verse sharing on the screens throughout our sanctuary. Our staff and volunteers were able to setup Sunday morning services and everything that needed to be on the screens. We did this in advance, saved the files, and went live on Sundays. Mediashout let us expand our capabilities outside of Powerpoint and incorporate more media into our services, which helped us keep our congregation engaged.

Cons

Media shout did a lot of advanced features compared to powerpoint but wasn't as advanced as pro presenter. We had issues editing slides on the fly and when things went sideways in the service, it was difficult to see all the slides at a glance to jump ahead or behind within the same window like Propresenter. And the software used a lot of system resources, so we had to make extra sure nothing was running in the background.

Reason for choosing MediaShout

Media shout had a cleaner interface and better reviews from other church leaders we networked with.

We needed to be able to add and play media easier and structure our slides within the software to easily designate verses and choruses.

Thanks for taking the time to review! We're so glad to have been able to serve your church. From the content of the review, it looks like you may have been using a slightly out of date version. We'd love to invite you to check out features like Presenter View in MediaShout 7 to have a better experience seeing slides at a glance or jumping around as needed. The editing process has also been streamlined so it's a bit quicker to put things together even on the fly- AND there's about to be a new update to MediaShout 7 with even more focus on on-the-fly firing. Stay posted, and please let our support team know if we can help in any way on mediashout.com/support.

### "Media Shout 7 Integration"

January 20, 2023

5.0

An excellent company to deal with

Pros

It was from a trusted and tried company who we have used for previous versions.

Cons

The look and feel and the user interface were so different from the previous version that it took quite a time to get used to. Some of the critical features of previous versions were not incorporated in the initial release but it is getting better with updates.

Reason for choosing MediaShout

### "Why Shout for MediaShout"

November 7, 2023

5.0

We have used MediaShout for over a decade.

Pros

1\. Price - there is a onetime price vs a monthly/yearly subscription. 2. Features - The version you purchase is yours. While there are free versions of presentation software that are good for a small startup congregation, Media Shout will grow with you and your needs 3. Ease of use - we have successfully trained people from 17 to 65 to use the software comfortably 4. Training - there are a number of simple and quick training videos on YouTube

Cons

Usable copy purchases are somewhat limiting or intimidating. You receive a limited number of activations at time of purchase. The full version trial program helps to ensure that the PC you are putting it on is really ready. I always recommend using an up-to-date PC with higher specs than required.

### "Media Shout 7"

October 25, 2021

4.0

I am stuck with it because that is what the previous music minister insisted on. I would much prefer Proclaim, but it is too late to switch now. The church is too much invested in Media Shout.

Pros

It works most of the time. It integrates with my CCLI Song Select account. It is commonly used by many churches in our area.

Cons

It will suddenly stop working and I won't know why or what to do about it on a Sunday morning. It is not cloud based, so I cannot build the slides at my house on my computer and then use them on the church's computer on Sunday, like Proclaim does.

Alternatives considered

[Proclaim by Logos](https://www.capterra.com/p/265496/Proclaim/)

Reason for choosing MediaShout

The previous music minister and his wife who ran the sound booth had never worked with Proclaim, so they pushed for Media Shout. Then they left 2 years later, and I got stuck with Media Shout and the music ministry got dumped in my lap. I have been stuck with it ever since. I did not choose it.

### "No longer using"

July 24, 2019

4.0

This was the cutting edge presentation software for churches when it first was released. Then ProPresenter came along and made everything easier.

Pros

The bible scripture feature was so easy to display verses from different bible translations.

Cons

It was not user friendly, especially for volunteers who weren't using the software enough to stay familiar with the layout.

Hey Richard! Thanks for your review. You're right, MediaShout was the "pioneer" of church presentation software with the first ever concept of being able to navigate slides in random order or use motion backgrounds even. I wonder if you've seen our newer versions that came out around when ProPresenter was launched, and after? People say that our recent version 6, and especially our brand new version 7 are much easier than ProPresenter. We have folks switching all the time because MediaShout still allows advanced features, but doesn't take an advanced user skillset to be able to design and run. I'd recommend checking out this link to see a video of how you can setup an average church service in literally 7 minutes total, in fact: https://youtu.be/hBiXSn4cDGI And running it-- so easy that anyone could do it without ANY training (As a worship leader, I've personally had someone jump on 5 minutes before the service, who had never SEEN Version 7 before, and ran it with no trouble!)

### "An Easy to Use GREAT Solution for Flawless Worship Experiences"

January 17, 2022

5.0

We have had some issues getting it to run on our monitors in our church. We are working out the "bugs," and this may be our issue, not the MediaShout program. I would like to be able to drag videos, etc. off my desktop right into the library. I have to keep going in and changing settings if a video or music is in different folders on my desktop.

Pros

MediaShout transformed our worship service from fragmented and "unprofessional" (I hate that word, but truly it was rough) into something that has flow, form and makes worship run smoothly. Our congregation is older, and we have a gentlemen in his 80s using the program on Sunday morning. That is how easy it is to use! I create the presentations in about an hour, using saved cues, creating new cues and inserting Bible text for each week. It is a great time saver for me, which is very important, since I am one of a two person staff at the church! My experience in creating and presenting with MediaShout has been very good. I do recommend it.

Cons

Learning to use it was a little intimidating, and the introduction spoke in MediaShout language, which was difficult and different (for example a cue instead of a slide, or a ribbon instead of a header). Learning the jargon of the program was half the battle of learning to use it. It was like you had to learn a new language before you could get started.

### "MediaShout"

December 26, 2018

5.0

MediaShout's customer service is one of the best things about using this product. They are always responsive to our needs and very, very knowledgeable about their product.

Pros

MediaShout helps us create beautiful, inspirational presentations for our worship services. It is especially effective when we want to set a mood, such as during our Blue Christmas Service. MediaShout really enhances the worship experience for our congregation.

Cons

The learning curve is fairly long. Training new volunteers is time consuming. But once they "get it" the software is easy to use.

### "Worship Software for the ease of mind"

February 24, 2023

5.0

7+ years of using various versions of MediaShout. Tried other software before, but never found them with ease of mind in functionality or database availability. Though some of the new changes in the years have caused some need to learn a new method in use, those functions have come very useful in later actions.

Pros

Built in databases for lyrics and bibles for creation and on-the-fly display. Cue libraries for saving varied versions of lyrics and liturgical (i.e. Advent) texts to pull for future needs.

Cons

Though mentioned the ease of mind in use, there can be some initial difficulties in the beginning of new versions. But we all must get out of comfort zone and learn new things.

### "Church Media on a Budget"

August 21, 2018

4.0

I used multiple versions of this software for about three years. The upgrades were better each time they came out. After the learning curve, the software is easy to use. That being said, there are better options out there if you're willing to spend a little more.

Pros

MediaShout had great customer service that understood what our church needed from the software. Overall, it was pretty easy to use. It came with a number of backgrounds and Bible versions preloaded in the software.

Cons

While the software was easy to use, there is a somewhat steep learning curve. For the price, it lacks some major features other worship software options. Depending on your situation, the extra money might be worth it. The major con is that each song must be manually entered. If this has been modified in a recent update, please disregard this con.

Thank you so much for your review! Since version 4 (2009), songs no longer have to be manually entered. With our SongSelect integration, its a breeze to add in lyrics! ### "Newly Designed User Interface Poor. "

January 22, 2019

4.0

I want to remain on 4.5 which has an excellent interface without a steep learning curve. Pastors do not have the time to be techies. We need something that is stable. Unfortunately, Media Shout has taken 4.5 away making it impossible to use if reloading on a new computer.

Pros

Nothing. The learning curve of a new interface doesn't allow me to receive value from this product

Cons

User Interface. It's like a product I never seen though I've been a customer for 15 years.

Review Source

Response from Wordsmith

January 23, 2019

Hi there! We're sorry to hear about the initial difficulty with V6. We know that with a new interface comes some time getting comfortable with it, and that time is valuable especially in ministry. However, this was one of those situations where to make it better all around (+ easier/faster to use), we had to make the jump to something new. What we've heard from lots of users so far is that it was worth getting to know the new layout, because they've now saved lots of time in the long run. After a few weeks, most say they're working faster than before because of the more intuitive controls with less clicks, less menus, and ultimately less obstacles to your work. Regarding V4, it will remain a MediaShout classic that has served us well, but unfortunately due to it being around 10 years old, certain components were not able to be kept up because of their age. Check you email, as we've sent you a link to some complimentary training for MediaShout 6 that can help bridge the gap!

### "Hopeful"

February 6, 2020

3.0

It's getting better as we learn workarounds to issues that we experience.

Pros

It doesn't operate on a per month fee. Being able to own it is refreshing. It's fairly simple to use and learn as we have to teach many people to use it. Their customer service is fairly responsive (although the fact of the time difference between us and the eastern time zone limits it's availability substantially).

Cons

The newest version is more of a beta in process. Although they have offered an update that has stabilized some issues there are many that continue to degrade use and stability.

Hey Troy. Thanks for taking the time to review. We're sorry about any issues with the newest version you may have. The updates we've been able to do now that the new version is over around 8 months old have made it pretty "mature" in a sense we've eliminated 90% of any kind of issues, but there may be some more rare and random lingering ones. Our next update hopefully within a few weeks (this is written as of 2/10/20) will resolve some of those last remaining ones so overall it should be a very reliable and straight forward product for anyone wanting to jump on! ### "Mediashout v5/v6"

October 1, 2019

5.0

Pros

I loved how fast I could set up a service, we used this 6 days a week and it went from taking me 2 hours a day to 15 minutes! The thing that has kept me is the customer service the staff are always friendly and helpful and if they can't figure out my problem they won't stop until it's done.

Cons

some times things don't work the way they should or little bugs here and there specifically with aligning text. but usually, a quick reboot and it's fixed.

### "MS 7 is a terrible program "

September 6, 2023

Until now it has been good. We wasted our money with MS 7.

Pros

Although previous MS programs have been fairly easy to use and navigate we are finding MS7 to have many issues in navigation and set up. The instructions are hard to follow and when support does help you they go through things so fast that it is hard to keep up.

Cons

2.0

We briefly used this to project worship slides and sermon slides.

Pros

The software is generally reliable with few glitches, especially on newer versions. It can be easily customized. Resource Light compared to some other options.

Cons

There are many better options available, and MediaShout hasn't exactly kept up with competition. Upgraded versions offer little in the way of new features, and the pricing isn't appealing when you compare what you can get for the same or less elsewhere.

Thanks for taking the time to review. We are surprised to see the ratings on ease of use, etc. as we are continually hearing from users that MediaShout is among the easiest to learn of the presentation software options out there. Regarding price, we'd definitely recommend folks to do the research there and see that MediaShout is actually the best value available, period. With an unlimited site license included, and 70 Bibles in that package without paying extra, under a one time fee, it's really an all in one purchase. Many competitors require you to pay extra for each Bible version, or certain features. The only way you get by cheaper initially is to do a subscription plan with one of the other software options, but if you do the math, you're really starting to lose money between the 1 & 2 year mark. If anyone has questions, we're available and glad to answer any questions in an unbiased way at www.mediashout.com/support.

### "Functional but not the best"

I have moved on completely from Media shout to pro presenter and never looked back.

Pros

It gets the job done. It is a passable media presentation with a forgiving learning curve. PC friendly out of the gate compared to some other presentation softwares out there.

Cons

There isn't much mediashout can do that pro presenter doesn't do better. It's not as expensive or difficult to learn but it's all around an inferior program.

Thanks for taking the time to share. We¿d be interested to hear what specific functions you feel ProPresenter does better. While we realize that sometimes user preference naturally makes one software or another a better fit for certain users, we¿ve actually heard mostly the opposite of your comments! We¿ve seen many users switching from ProPresenter to us recently, with comments about how MediaShout¿s features were better for their needs. Also, the rating of no stars on customer support is very surprising¿if you spend any time working with MediaShout support at all, you¿ll see that we have the most responsive, helpful, and widely accessible support of any software in the industry! ### "Pay-to-play support is disheartening"

May 11, 2021

5.0

I've used MediaShout for about 20 years (since version 2) in multiple churches and have always felt they really cared about supporting customers. Recently they implemented a pay-to-play policy that requires ongoing payments if you want anything but online help during minimal business hours. I feel very marginalized trying to get the minimal help needed that way. Further, the help topics are almost useless when trying to figure simple things out on your own, and they've clogged up the Google search engine with links to their generic how-to FAQ's that do not answer the simple questions like how to replace an image, set default fonts (really- ARIAL?), and pasting text formatting. Very disappointed after so many years of bliss, though it still is capable of great presentations if you happen to be one of the developers who know it inside and out.

Pros

This continues to be top notch versatile worship presentation software

Cons

The latest version (7) has been the most difficult to learn to use, and lacks many editing simplicities that have been present for the last 20 years in previous versions

Reason for choosing MediaShout

Versatility, previous short learning curves, previous stellar support.

Pros

Media Shout version 7 is way better than previous versions, and we started with version 4. That being said it's also completely different so there's a learning curve. With each new release it just keeps getting better and more stable.

Cons

You need a pretty good machine to run it. Sometimes it's a bit slow on loading songs and scripture slides. A gaming computer with a a really good video card helps.

### "It's a piece of software that seems to have rested on their laurels"

December 13, 2017

3.0

It was relevant at one point in time, but it's just so limited and stale now.

Pros

Way back when churches all moved from PowerPoint to MediaShout. The built-in bibles, song databases and ease of use were the attraction. MediaShout were killing it! For some MediaShout is what they know and love, so it works for them.

Cons

It's just too limited. And for the price, it's not worth it. There is other software that caught up and went way past in usability. If you aren't heavily invested in MediaShout already, look elsewhere, it's software that feels like it hasn't been updated in 10 years.

We love the program and are still learning new things about it

Pros

Takes a little to get started but training videos help. Been using this for a year and a half and I am still learning new things about the systems

Cons

The instruction manual could be a little better
