### "Let me shout about Mediashout"

February 14, 2023

5.0

I am very pleased with the software and think that anyone who needs a quality presenter software should definitely put this on the top of your try list.

Pros

The product is remarkably simple to teach others how to use. The software is very adaptable for systems. I like the fact that it can handle multiple displays so easily.

Cons

Updates can cause the software to delay when loading, which is only a concern when running the software.

### "Mediashout is such a great option"

April 15, 2025

5.0

Great product that did exactly what was required of it. I used it consistently for about 4 years.

Pros

Media shout did a great job of making the slides on our monitors efficient and without flaws. It was easy to implement and cut out computer screens showing during church.

Cons

It was laggy when using multiple different programs at the same time. We only used one program at a time due to this.

### "Pretty good church presentation software"

August 20, 2020

4.0

Mediashout let us create a more engaging service for our guests and congregation. We were able to not only have lyrics on the screen, but give them a wide variety of backgrounds and animations. Additionally we could automate some slides like our announcements to run on a timer until we were ready to proceed. And the ease of adding multiple media sources like audio and video gave us new avenues to share more content with our live audience.

Pros

Mediashout provided us with advanced presentation options for our church, giving us lyrics, slides, transitions, media playing capability, and verse sharing on the screens throughout our sanctuary. Our staff and volunteers were able to setup Sunday morning services and everything that needed to be on the screens. We did this in advance, saved the files, and went live on Sundays. Mediashout let us expand our capabilities outside of Powerpoint and incorporate more media into our services, which helped us keep our congregation engaged.

Cons

Media shout did a lot of advanced features compared to powerpoint but wasn't as advanced as pro presenter. We had issues editing slides on the fly and when things went sideways in the service, it was difficult to see all the slides at a glance to jump ahead or behind within the same window like Propresenter. And the software used a lot of system resources, so we had to make extra sure nothing was running in the background.

Reason for choosing MediaShout

Media shout had a cleaner interface and better reviews from other church leaders we networked with.

We needed to be able to add and play media easier and structure our slides within the software to easily designate verses and choruses.

Thanks for taking the time to review! We're so glad to have been able to serve your church. From the content of the review, it looks like you may have been using a slightly out of date version. We'd love to invite you to check out features like Presenter View in MediaShout 7 to have a better experience seeing slides at a glance or jumping around as needed. The editing process has also been streamlined so it's a bit quicker to put things together even on the fly- AND there's about to be a new update to MediaShout 7 with even more focus on on-the-fly firing. Stay posted, and please let our support team know if we can help in any way on mediashout.com/support.

### "Media Shout 7 Integration"

January 20, 2023

An excellent company to deal with

Pros

It was from a trusted and tried company who we have used for previous versions.

Cons

The look and feel and the user interface were so different from the previous version that it took quite a time to get used to. Some of the critical features of previous versions were not incorporated in the initial release but it is getting better with updates.

### "Why Shout for MediaShout"

November 7, 2023

5.0

We have used MediaShout for over a decade.

Pros

1\. Price - there is a onetime price vs a monthly/yearly subscription. 2. Features - The version you purchase is yours. While there are free versions of presentation software that are good for a small startup congregation, Media Shout will grow with you and your needs 3. Ease of use - we have successfully trained people from 17 to 65 to use the software comfortably 4. Training - there are a number of simple and quick training videos on YouTube

Cons

Usable copy purchases are somewhat limiting or intimidating. You receive a limited number of activations at time of purchase. The full version trial program helps to ensure that the PC you are putting it on is really ready. I always recommend using an up-to-date PC with higher specs than required.

### "Media Shout 7"

October 25, 2021

4.0

I am stuck with it because that is what the previous music minister insisted on. I would much prefer Proclaim, but it is too late to switch now. The church is too much invested in Media Shout.

Pros

It works most of the time. It integrates with my CCLI Song Select account. It is commonly used by many churches in our area.

Cons

It will suddenly stop working and I won't know why or what to do about it on a Sunday morning. It is not cloud based, so I cannot build the slides at my house on my computer and then use them on the church's computer on Sunday, like Proclaim does.

Alternatives considered

[Proclaim by Logos](https://www.capterra.com/p/265496/Proclaim/)

Reason for choosing MediaShout

The previous music minister and his wife who ran the sound booth had never worked with Proclaim, so they pushed for Media Shout. Then they left 2 years later, and I got stuck with Media Shout and the music ministry got dumped in my lap. I have been stuck with it ever since. I did not choose it.

### "MediaShout software is perfect for our church"

August 28, 2019

5.0

MediaShout feels like a really close knit community, where users support each other well, but also MediaShout 'the company', support their users well. I love the software, and what we can achieve with it, in serving our church locally.

Pros

MediaShout is fully featured yet easy to use. It's easy to train on. Their support is second to none, and they really care about how the software works for you in your situation. They are passionate about making their software easy for us as users, to seamlessly support the process of worship and sharing the gospel.

Cons

I have no negatives about using and owning MediaShout.

### "No longer using"

July 24, 2019

This was the cutting edge presentation software for churches when it first was released. Then ProPresenter came along and made everything easier.

Cons

It was not user friendly, especially for volunteers who weren't using the software enough to stay familiar with the layout.

Hey Richard! Thanks for your review. You're right, MediaShout was the "pioneer" of church presentation software with the first ever concept of being able to navigate slides in random order or use motion backgrounds even. I wonder if you've seen our newer versions that came out around when ProPresenter was launched, and after? People say that our recent version 6, and especially our brand new version 7 are much easier than ProPresenter. We have folks switching all the time because MediaShout still allows advanced features, but doesn't take an advanced user skillset to be able to design and run. I'd recommend checking out this link to see a video of how you can setup an average church service in literally 7 minutes total, in fact: https://youtu.be/hBiXSn4cDGI And running it-- so easy that anyone could do it without ANY training (As a worship leader, I've personally had someone jump on 5 minutes before the service, who had never SEEN Version 7 before, and ran it with no trouble!)

### "Media Shout 7 - Latest Version"

March 19, 2020

4.0

We have used Media Shout from version 4/5, then into V6 and now V7. All of the releases have gone very smooth until V7. It seems they wanted to meet an arbitrary delivery date and released it prematurely. Now, with this latest release MS7 seems ready for prime time.

Pros

After all of my critical critiques of MS7 early releases I thought I would follow-up with a review of the latest release. I almost had to start from scratch, relearning how to build cues and formatting pages. But, I was able to build this weeks service in MS7 and it ran without any issues/aborts (unexpected shutdowns). I did not use any of my old MS7 scripts but started with a "new" script and built the entire script from scratch. I also imported a MS6 Announcement script into MS7 and did not experience any issues. The "new" MS7 announcement script ran using script control which it imported from the MS6 script. This release has fixed the unexpected shutdown issue that we were having with the early releases. Another PRO is the support staff at Media Shout. They bend over backwards to help you solve issues or help you learn how to use the product.

Cons

Their early release of the product. There were several features that would give you a comment that this feature would be coming in a future release. With the early releases the software would shutdown in the middle of our church service. To date this version of MS7 seems to be stable.

### "Amazing but buggy"

July 23, 2019

4.0

I love the flexibility and creativity it offers.

Pros

I love being able to put video backgrounds behind lyrics on slides. It's a such cool effect. MediaShout is an amazing tool for presentations. I especially appreciate the song & scripture libraries that are independent of any backgrounds.

Cons

I find that MediaShout crashes often. It's more reliable during presentations, but when I'm adjusting the slide order or making other changes, especially with video, it's still buggy.

Thanks for the encouraging review and using MediaShout! We're sorry for any trouble you're having with crashing. With our version 6, it is a pretty solid program and we don't see that often except for cases where the PC isn't quite up to spec, or maybe there's some system issues that need to be addressed. Our great support team is here for you if you connect with them on mediashout.com/support. I would bet we could resolve just about any crashing issue if your computer meets requirements. On another note, our NEWEST version, Version 7 blows just about every software out of the water in terms of stability, and I'd encourage you to check it out. There's less to worry about when it comes to Windows updates, display settings, external video codes-- we've simplified it and put it all in the box so MediaShout can be self sufficient and less susceptible to external system issues. Give it a try on www.mediashout.com/trial to see what it's all about!

### "Worst Decision "

January 27, 2020

1.0

As a long time MediaShout user we were excited to upgrade to 7...that excitement was short lived. It is as if the developers purposely tried to punish ALL their current customers. They succeeded.

Pros

The customer support is very nice...however they are unable to fix the problems as the developers did not consider their existing customers.

Cons

Extremely difficult to use. It will not read older MediaShout files, you cannot import older MediaShout files without losing all changes. Years of past work is lost. You cannot sync files with Dropbox, therefore you cannot work in presentations from multiple computers. You cannot save the cue library files in any other location other than the default.

Reason for choosing MediaShout

We have been long time MediaShout users.

Review Source

Response from Wordsmith

February 7, 2020

We're so sorry about the trouble you had with updating from your older version of MediaShout. We tried to make things as easy as possible for our existing family members, but we had to make some changes to our platform to allow future growth. Some of the elements of previous versions were carried forward since MediaShout 3, which is almost 15 years old. In the new version, it's built on an entirely new platform to allow better performance, longevity with modern operating systems, and features we could have only dreamed of having before. There are still ways to do much of what you need like our easier to use file format that does allow you to use a cloud service or USB drive to transport scripts, and you can import your song library from older versions. You just can't open old script files which are normally only viable for one specific service anyway. We're about to release an import tool where you can bring those in from V5 or V6 though. If you need help, please get with our support!

### "The software is very powerful and has features for every size church and way/style of worship. "

May 21, 2018

5.0

The software is built and designed for churches ... and allows me to support our worship services with spectacular visuals and a smooth running one hour services. The team of support people is outstanding. This software is the bomb and I love it.

Pros

It allows me to use beautiful motions as backgrounds and I can put text over the motions. It's easy to use and very well supported by a team of very knowledgeable and helpful Christian people. I don't use/need even half of the functionality but what I do use allows me to create wonderful hour-long services in a liturgical "high church" setting. I love my work as a visual worship leader and could not even begin to do my church justice without this wonderful and powerful software.

Cons

Same thing with all software I guess ... when big new releases come out, the learning curve is very rough. Part of that is on my shoulders because I'm not a young techy ... but wow sometimes I wonder why developers don't take into consideration the stress it creates and time required to have the user interface change so drastically that the user feels lost and has to start from scratch. And you know how much time we have on our hands. But, bottom line is the software and support is awesome and I love it.

Hey there! I wonder if there's a system issue going on such as a video card needing a driver update, video codecs needing to be reinstalled, or Windows updates need completing. Version 6 is a very solid program and I trust it on the road worship leading myself- even on an older lower powered laptop. I'm confident our support can make recommendations to get you where you need to be (just reach out at mediashout.com/support). Also, do check out Version 7, as it's built on a completely new platform and it's less susceptible to even external system issues that caused poor performance in the past-- everything is in the box including video codecs needed for smooth performance with media files. We've worked hard to make it one of the most stable and reliable programs out there.

### "So Long To This Software"

January 5, 2021

2.0

I took a position with a Church that had been using MediaShout for several years prior and all I heard was how the choir could not depend on the confidence monitor so they had to use books or sheet music still as MediaShout was continually crashing and glitching. The responsiveness of the customer service department was beyond poor. The first budget item I requested was funds for an alternative product.

Pros

Truthfully, there was nothing I liked about this software.

Cons

Continual crashes and poor customer support.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. That is so odd because our customer service works tirelessly to be sure every single inquiry is treated with utmost care and responsiveness- in everything from getting you a solution to making sure that it's timely as well. As for the product the church was using, it's possible it was a very old version and out of date, or that the system needed some configuration, which our tech support would normally be happy to get you options to take care of, whether yourself, or through more advanced support offered through our Plus membership that even extends to discontinued versions. We just wanted to take the chance to respond and be sure it's clear that these things can usually be easily taken care of and we are more than willing to help. But if you have another product now and it is working well, we celebrate that success as well. Thanks and God bless!

I have used MediaShout since version 4. I’m finally convinced to move on. Sad, because I think these are good people. But I need flawless execution. I have enough other worries on a Sunday morning.

Pros

In fact, we did release another performance update even a couple weeks after your review. I have moved on completely from Media shout to pro presenter and never looked back.

Pros

It gets the job done. It is a passable media presentation with a forgiving learning curve. PC friendly out of the gate compared to some other presentation softwares out there.

Cons

There isn't much mediashout can do that pro presenter doesn't do better. It's not as expensive or difficult to learn but it's all around an inferior program.

While we realize that sometimes user preference naturally makes one software or another a better fit for certain users, we¿ve actually heard mostly the opposite of your comments! We¿ve seen many users switching from ProPresenter to us recently, with comments about how MediaShout¿s features were better for their needs. Also, the rating of no stars on customer support is very surprising¿if you spend any time working with MediaShout support at all, you¿ll see that we have the most responsive, helpful, and widely accessible support of any software in the industry! ### "Pay-to-play support is disheartening"

May 11, 2021

5.0

I've used MediaShout for about 20 years (since version 2) in multiple churches and have always felt they really cared about supporting customers. Recently they implemented a pay-to-play policy that requires ongoing payments if you want anything but online help during minimal business hours. I feel very marginalized trying to get the minimal help needed that way. Further, the help topics are almost useless when trying to figure simple things out on your own, and they've clogged up the Google search engine with links to their generic how-to FAQ's that do not answer the simple questions like how to replace an image, set default fonts (really- ARIAL?), and pasting text formatting. Very disappointed after so many years of bliss, though it still is capable of great presentations if you happen to be one of the developers who know it inside and out.

Pros

This continues to be top notch versatile worship presentation software

Cons

The latest version (7) has been the most difficult to learn to use, and lacks many editing simplicities that have been present for the last 20 years in previous versions

Reason for choosing MediaShout

Versatility, previous short learning curves, previous stellar support.

Media Shout version 7 is way better than previous versions, and we started with version 4. That being said it's also completely different so there's a learning curve. With each new release it just keeps getting better and more stable.

Cons

Way back when churches all moved from PowerPoint to MediaShout. The built-in bibles, song databases and ease of use were the attraction. MediaShout were killing it! For some MediaShout is what they know and love, so it works for them.

Cons

It's just too limited. And for the price, it's not worth it. There is other software that caught up and went way past in usability. If you aren't heavily invested in MediaShout already, look elsewhere, it's software that feels like it hasn't been updated in 10 years.

### "5 was great but 6 stinks"

December 26, 2018

4.0

Does what I need it to do in setting up worship media. My experience was great for versions 3-5. They just really screwed up version 6. It does it all, but in the most cumbersome way.

Pros

It will do all sorts of things, pretty much anything you want.

Cons

I've used Media shout from versions 3 through 6. 5 was great - I loved it. Easy to use. Virtually no learning curve. Very intuitive. Then someone decided to make major changes on version 6. Very cumbersome. Hard to figure out. Not intuitive at all. I actually hate it, but have not choice but to use it. Even after nearly 2 years, I still can't stand version 6. One of the most annoying is that things like column width on the screen, remote on/off, preview screens, compact script - none of those things save with the program. So if you have to do a quick reboot, the program comes up with several things you then have to do in addition in order to be back to where you set it. The lyric setup - entering your own lyrics - is really cumbersome. Seems like the program is friendly to those who use the lyric service, but hard for those who want to do their own lyrics from scratch.
