That being said, its downsides are the price, and the ease of sharing/collaboration with others on a project where Google Slides or Powerpoint might be better. Pros Prezi is great for a creative project or if you are looking for a more exciting way to present information. Prezi offers almost every option you could imagine to customize your presentation and make it really stand out. I think if you frequently are trying to do more creative projects or presentations then Prezi cannot be beat. Cons Sometimes Prezi can be difficult to navigate and use because there are so many features. I think be overwhelming and hard to figure out how to create something that looks good. I also think that Prezi can be over the top and PowerPoint is much more straightforward and easier to use to make a presentation quickly. The other downside of Prezi is that sharing a project with others to work on is more complicated since Prezi is not the dominant platform people have a subscription to, whereas everyone has or uses Powerpoint and Google Slides. Prezi is great if you're trying to tell a story through your presentation, because of how you can edit the background of the entire presentation and then jump to different parts of it however you choose. I also like how you can zoom in on certain parts of one slide to really hone in on a key point and emphasize it. Prezi is definitely for people who do more creative presentations and work in design, as I can't see it being applied in a more professional, strictly business setting. Cons Prezi is really not user friendly. There's been multiple occasions where I try to edit a transition, order of the powerpoint, move a text box or change a font and the entire slide ends up getting ruined. It's so hard to personalize and edit slides because it you might click one part and Prezi thinks you're trying to do something else and it gets incredibly frustrating. While I do have more pros and cons, this one con is a really big deal for me. It makes the software so frustrating and not user friendly. If you're not telling or story or need a super flashy/professionally designed PowerPoint with great transitions, then I'd recommend Google Slides or PowerPoint over Prezi to save you time and frustration. Pros Prezi's take on presentations is very different, since it does away with slide decks altogether in favour of a massive canvas. Cram it full of all your pertinent info, lock off views representing the most important areas, then zoom, twist, reveal and jump between them for a truly dynamic presentation. Make slick, dynamic presentations without traditional slides. Eye-catching animations, and it's certainly easy enough to get some brilliant looks out of Prezi's online presentation tools, Cons Doesn't support PowerPoint files. Presentations are public by default, presumably to discourage business users from exploiting the tool without paying for it. Many people, faced with Prezi's sometimes unpredictable movements, find themselves becoming somewhat seasick when watching particularly active presentations. It is pretty intuitive to use and I like being able to pull images off the internet from the actual Prezi site itself instead of going to a search engine and finding what I want to copy and paste it in. You can get some really interesting presentations and are able to get pretty creative with it. While having all the transitions and amazing graphics, you'd might believe lots of effort was required to produce the presentation. The reality is that Prezi handles a lot of that and makes it easy for users to link slides and add transitions. I love using Prezi when I have ample time to create a presentation and when I am too lazy to make a template myself (Prezi templates are beautiful!). Cons Prezi can be a little slow when loading but that is to be expected when it has to load and support many graphics and transitions. Also if you are looking to create a quick presentation, Prezi might not be suited for that instance. While there are many templates to choose from, you still have to edit all the elements and decide what you would want to keep or get rid of. But in the end, especially if you have to make presentations all the time, I'm not sure the visual niceties are worth the extra effort. Although working in this moving, 3D space takes some getting used to, especially if you've been using something traditional like PowerPoint, the results can be worth it. Cons When I was a student, I thought Prezi was amazing and used it for most of my presentations. But the more presentations I've had to make, with different kinds of information (text, images, charts, etc), the less the time investment is worth it to me, and I think that sometimes audiences are actually annoyed with the moving and flying. Pros - The free version of the web application has a series of pre-established templates, which have very attractive designs. - It is not necessary to pass by slide to get the sheet that we want to show, by just zooming in we can locate it. - You can add photos and videos. In addition, it is very versatile for its use of titles and subtitles that end up giving a versatile view of the presentation. - It can be used online, in the cloud, without having to install a program on your PC. Cons There are features that I do not know about the application because they can only be used in the subscription version. - If you do not have a good Internet connection, the presentation may be slow. - I, in particular, took the computer where I made the presentation because I am afraid that I will lose the configuration. Furthermore, when presenting online, you can make it so the information appears next to you on a screen, which really helps to avoid sharing the screen and people looking on your slides while your video is small thumbnail next to it, but to have "more natural" experience. This is expecially useful when you are pitching or having similar meetings/presentations with a smaller group of people over zoom, when you want the feeling like you are really in the room with them and the slides are just complementary info. Cons When people start using it they tend to like that the path moves and then they build paths which feel like rolercoaster, moving all over the place. This is not the software problem, but user's problem, but if you get it for your team and don't give them any guidance expect a couple of really bad prezis in the beginning. Pros My favorite thing about Prezi can be summed up in one word... Versatile. Prezi allows me as a sales content manager to create sales presentations that can follow a flow much like a Microsoft PowerPoint but also gives you the versatility to jump around. For example, say I have 5 products in my portfolio. A, B, C, D, and E. This allows me or another salesperson to present in a versatile manner; say the presentation and discussion takes a turn and the audience wants more information on product C, instead of scrolling through a list of slides to reach your destination, Prezi allows you to jump around and immediately find product C. One of the most obvious things that I like most about Prezi is that it looks appetizing to audiences everywhere. The unique feel makes for an incredible feel, that is different from most of our competition. Overall I would recommend Prezi to anyone looking to differentiate themselves from their competition. Cons The biggest downside about Prezi is the steep learning curve. I would call myself an apt millennial, who normally has an easy time picking up most programs quickly. Once you figure it out a few necessary building blocks, the possibilities are endless. These are both problems for me and the salespeople I make them for who are generally from an older generation and change is taboo, although after showing them the differentiation and creative possibilities, they are normally open to working with it.
