HousecallPro has helped us take our business to the next level and makes dispatching, estimating, and bookkeeping much easier. I've used other competitive products in the past, but nothing has come close to the features of HousecallPro.

Pros

Price list flexibility, automated emails, estimate approvals and invoicing, and dispatching to make sure everyone's on the same page.

Cons

The automated emails should absolutely be tied to job tags, but because they're tied to customer tags, we have to add and remove them vigilantly if we have repeat customers with multiple properties or different service needs. I wish the estimate approval process was more of an eSignature process as opposed to any party just clicking a button.

Overall, it had great features for what it's intended to do for service based businesses for company such as mine which has a combination of service contract and longer project management requirements.It doesn't suit mines but it's a great product for people who are service based only.

Housecall Pro has served our small business well in the past, but as we’ve grown and begun working more with property managers and larger commercial clients, the limitations have become a significant issue—especially with invoicing. A recent change to how invoices and images are sent has completely disrupted how we work with property managers. Previously, we could send one neatly bundled PDF that included the invoice and selected images. Now, the system sends the invoice as one PDF and each image as a separate attachment in the same email. While this might be fine for the occasional homeowner job, it creates massive inefficiencies for our clients who must now manage dozens of files instead of one clean document—especially when we do multiple jobs for them per day. Even worse, there’s no batch download option for the images stored in the system, which means I now have to manually download each image and use third-party tools to reassemble my own PDF before sending it. This completely negates the usefulness of sending emails directly from Housecall Pro. Additionally, the software now blocks invoice resends for 24 hours if there are multiple recipient email addresses—claiming it’s to prevent spamming. This adds another frustrating layer of delay when trying to service clients quickly. We’ve voiced our concerns, provided screenshots and videos, and the company eventually acknowledged the issue—but they’ve said they have no plans to revert or improve this. That’s the most disappointing part: not the bugs or even the missteps, but the unwillingness to listen to power users whose businesses rely on core functionality. I still believe Housecall Pro is a solid tool for small, residential-focused service businesses. But if you’re scaling or servicing more complex accounts like property managers or HOAs, this platform may no longer meet your needs. I hope management takes this feedback seriously—it’s not coming from a place of dislike for the product, but frustration with the direction it’s going.

Pros

’ve been a user for well over five years, and when I first started out with a smaller team and mostly residential clients, Housecall Pro worked very well. It’s easy to learn, the interface is user-friendly, and the CRM and invoicing tools are intuitive. I also appreciate the seamless integration between mobile and desktop versions, which helped streamline operations early on.

Cons

The rollout of new features often seems rushed and poorly tested. Critical, established features break with no warning, and the support team (which is only available via web chat) often isn’t aware of the changes, let alone trained to help resolve them. Support frequently changes hands mid-conversation, making it difficult to resolve more complicated issues. There’s no real phone-based support—only an answering service that redirects you back to chat. The most frustrating trend has been the introduction of new “features” that essentially repackage previously included functionality, which now require additional fees. These business practices have made it difficult to trust the platform as a long-term partner.

Cons

It was not specifically good helping us quote moves and didn't have furniture listed. On the dumpster rental side, it didn't allow for inventory to be checked in and out by the driver.

It's my decision if I want to use your product and you haven't respected it. If you spent half the time and money chasing clients into making a better product maybe I would have stayed.

Pros

It was okay software, not great. It sort of worked but seemed expensive for What you got

Cons

After declining to keep the free trial they took over a week to cancel so I got charged. Complained that I gave them over a week to cancel and they refunded me but because I'm not in the USA it was less $10 because exchange rate movement. Since I've canceled they have phoned me multiple times each time I ask them to stop calling me and they don't respect it and call back.

We came running back to HCP after using another software for a year. Our breaking point with that software was the price book being outrageously difficult to utilize. With the new DOE changes for 2023, ALL hvac major equipment has been changed and we needed to do update that accordingly. The price book in HCP is smart, helpful, calculated, and still very easy to figure out and utilize.

Pros

We used HCP for years when we decided to move to another software. After a year on that other software, we came RUNNING back to HCP for many reasons. The biggest reasons? Ease of use, amazing features, customer service, and price points.

Cons

Auto pricing for Maintenance Plan Agreements. It is technically there but having it more in depth would be great. Example: Our Gold Level get $0 service call fee-10% off materials-$50 off new system. HCP provides that 10% off though so still an absolutely amazing feature!

Pros

The appointment reminders and automatic communication with clients ensured we kept clear and consistent communication during the jobs. I loved that when a tech was heading to the next job, they could click on the button saying they are on their way to the job and it would automatically send a text to the client with the updated ETA.

Cons

The automatic invoice reminders caused some issues for our clients. We did work with real estate transactions that would get paid once the house went to closing. The agents I worked with got a lot of reminder emails and it was difficult to configure the settings around automatic invoice reminders.

Don't pull the trigger yet. It doesn't do what you will need and want it to. Keep searching for better options. This does the job that quickbooks doesn't... scheduling, but this software could be so much better if the software developers actually ran a service business and used this in front of customers. I'm sure that by the 5th time they had to type their contact info into the body of an email before they sent an invoice, they would add the functionality to be able to customize the default. If they had to go through every day and send out their payment reminders, they would add automatic functionality (like Quickbooks did). My overall impression and experience is that they made their software, now they are going to sell it. Now that they've sold it, they are gonna raise the price (253% if I want to continue be able to send "on my way" messages). Sure, they have done some bug fixes, but they have pretty much stopped adding features and functionality to the software.

Pros

The best thing about Housecall Pro is the invoice that the customers see. It is clean, easy to read, and makes online payment easy. Payment can be made directly from the invoice and there is no need for the customer to open a web portal or log in to view and pay invoices. The mobile app dashboard is great for getting to the job... one tap to send an "on my way" message and another tap to open up google maps. easy.

Cons

The invoicing features (or lack thereof) are infuriating! 1. When you are creating invoices, you can't edit the default email message to have it save your preferences. You have to type out or copy and paste your custom text EVERY INVOICE YOU SEND. I would like to send a nice "thank you for using my services", "refer us", "call with questions" message with all my invoices, but it is a huge pain in the butt and takes too long to do it EVERY TIME! 2. If most of your customers are net 30, there are no automatic payment reminders or Payment Past Due notices. you have to do all of that manually. Since the software doesn't allow for custom email templates, each reminder you send has to be typed out manually or copied and pasted from a Word Doc. 3. The invoices are lacking different areas to add important information and instead rely on a general "Notes" text box at the bottom for Purchase Order numbers, billing disclaimers, and job notes. It gets busy fast. 4. The software and app are generally "clunky" to use. The interface requires a lot of full page loads vs drop down or pop-up fields in order to create a new customer and invoice so it takes twice the time it should, especially with a spotty data connection. 5. There is not a true CRM (customer relationship management) functionality. You can create email marketing campaigns, but it won't remind you customer's birthdays, or when someone has hit a loyalty program milestone, or let you auto-schedule calls or texts.

Pros

The dispatch capability is great. As a company using House Call Pro and as customer of another trade that used House Call Pro, I definitely found the text notifications an asset.

Cons

For overall job management, we needed a CRM that had a budget for job costs, commissions as well as communicate with some of our other software. This is a good software and we were excited about it but it ultimately didn't fit all that we needed and let us having to duplicate information between two programs.

Reason for choosing Housecall Pro

We no longer use this software but I still liked it. It is great for dispatching, job tracking for the client and communication with the client. The invoicing worked well as would be expected. If we could harness the dispatching capability of House Call Pro with our current CRM we would have a perfect system.

It has always been MEH.....But after today I am heavily looking at getting far far FARRRR AWAY from this company!!!!! They have no care or concerns for their customers, or providing a functioning product.

Pros

Its okay, but definately not great. They spend alot of time upgrading features that have little use, meanwhile leaving important features with critical issues unresolved. (like automatic late fees, and changing customers name in invoice if you accidentally have the wrong one in field).

Cons

CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! Absolutely the worst! If you like to hire companies that will treat you like a human being this isnt it. We had to close our bank account after being hacked, and open another one for our protection. (According to the bank). I realized I had no number for housecall pro and could not call them. I could not update my account, resulting in loss of customers since they would not be able to pay by credit card since we couldnt easily manage connecting our new account. The lady who called was unbelieveably rude! when I told her that I lost customers because we couldnt bill them because of their system issues, she said "well thats your perception"....ummmm,,, no, reality. And she was obviously 20 with a righteous attitude who feels that she is above all else. Just disgusting attitude. It made me realize that I could not believe I have paid and supported this company who fails to properly train employees in customer service.
