I have been using Vision since 2005. It has helped my organization streamline many operations and also gives information to project managers real time. Tracks the the entire project life cycle.

Pros

It is project based and information is available real time for project managers. It is also flexible and allows for API and web services. It starts from the beginning of a project life cycle (tracking leads and potential customers to winning the project and closing the project.

Pros

It’s easy to use for time-sheets, you can bill multiple projects, adding text details for each day.

Cons

The expense report could be a little easier to fill, allowing selection of multiple lines to enter the same information (project, detail, etc).

The potential is almost limitless for firms with an open-minded approach to organizational transformation. The support during the sales cycle and through the implementation process has been a pleasant surprise. We have been thrilled both by the functionality we're currently utilizing (which has been very basic to start), and by the opportunities we see to further develop. Just started using product about 4 months ago. Between support and documentation, I've been able to complete tasks relating to migrating to Deltek's cloud service. Deltek's first level support is great for basic questions. I use their convenient chat option a lot. If task has to be escalated, Deltek has an awesome support team. I've had the chance to work with a few great people on their support team.

Pros

I've been able to get up to speed with help from Deltek's support team.

Cons

Can be quirky at times.

I have been the controller of an approaching 50 person environmental engineering firm for almost 2 years. While unfamiliar with Deltek when I first joined the company, I have found it easy to work with and powerful if utilized properly. I was hired to help the company begin utilizing the software better. In the last 1 1/2 years, we have moved to the cloud, set up credit card reconciliations, set up batch invoicing, set up benefit hour tracking, started attaching documents to all A/P vouchers and doing the bank reconciliations in Deltek. Currently we are implementing project planning. We are now having fewer problems with time sheet submission and are collecting our accounts receivable faster due to better reporting and faster invoicing. A win-win for everyone.

I work for a small government contractor that uses Costpoint. It is simple to use and has so many options and versatility. Also love the fact that it's internet based.

Cons

Some of the Minor functions on Costpoint 7 tend to not work as well as expected.

Pros

It works...usually. Cloud option is also available, still need fifty more characters and can't think of anything else positive.

Cons

The support that you pay annually for is terrible... the reps are rude, outsourced, and generally unwilling to help out. The price they charge you yearly is outrageous for the level of support you get.

This is a very robust ERP platform for the Construction and engineering space. Excellent ecosystem to support the implementation. The price point is higher compared to other ERP's. You get what you pay for in terms of functionality and integration of modules. There are multiple modules on GL, AP, HR, PM, CPM, T&E which can bet acquired as needed.

I started with Advantage in 1997, when it was offered by Harper & Shuman and loved it. Since it was taken over by Deltek, it has become overly complicated for a small firm; it seems geared more toward larger firms. Some of the processes have lost their original functionality when they were adapted to larger firms with complicated needs. An example of a simple function that disappeared when we went from Advantage to Vision is the capability of printing a check in AP Disbursements. This is only one of the "wish list" requests that I have made over the years that was never addressed. We small firms don't seem to get the respect we deserve.

Just feels like an app developed from the late 90s/mid 2000s. Lots of things need advancement: Windows Client only contribution through .NET Framework, value history is very limited to certain select fields, API is ancient (still using SOAP instead of REST) and poorly documented, mobile interface lacks functionality. If you are going to use for very specific scenarios it seems reasonably functional. Beyond the app itself, support feels inadequate, 4 hour design meeting just to have a simple question about the API answered. Worked with a ton of different apps and this is by far the most difficult to get educated and up to speed on.

Our experience was absolutely horrible. Customer service agents screwed us from day one and we ended up getting stuck with a 3 year license that was never used. Why? Because Customer service agents are the most dishonest persons that I have ever dealt with in business. I would be happy to explain further if Deltek wants more information. Please be advised that our 3 year license agreement cost us a lot. After Customer service agents us, we asked for a refund of the license fee, we were given the finger by not only her but Deltek. We are currently looking at legal action against Deletek to get our money back.

We are currently shopping for a CRM and our client already has Deltek ERP. So we looked at their CRM as well. The big pro right now is the price because they bundled it in for us

Cons

The application is confusing to use and the sales reps who trailed it did not like it. The reporting modules are not that great

Overall I love the features, and ability to customize. CRM is useful. It integrates with Projects, which is a plus. I would like to be able to integrate Billing with Projects more easily. For example, I can't compare Forecasted Invoicing with Actual invoicing (because those two modules don't communicate). It's a critical feature that i think any business would want to know, and it should be available. Otherwise, how would we know how well we can predict revenue? A revenue forecast is only as valuable as its accuracy. Right now, there is no easy way to gauge our accuracy using Vision.

We have been using Deltek for 7 years, 3 of which have been on the cloud. We have been very happy with their tech support and with the product itself. It is very powerful, probably more so than we need. They are continually upgrading and making things better, but all upgrades are in the area of project management. Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger could use a lot of updates, but they are seldom touched. Also, there are features that we would like to use and are included in our cloud package, but the training for those modules are an additional cost and should be included in what we pay on an annual basis.

I really like the ease of functionality within vision for billing, reporting, A/P, A/R, etc. Most features are easy to use and figure out.

Pros

It feels very intuitive and has depth (lots of different options)

Cons

Limits - I spend a lot of time trying to get vision to do something just to figure out it can't or not set up to do so.

It is quiet easy to get the hang of the system -- pretty self explanatory for the most part and really great for tracking projects and interactions with different clients. I think it is a great fit for those in the A/E/C industry because it focuses more on the process of the project, rather than just sales.
