Vision used to be able to alphabetize A/R Statements when we initially started using it. Through upgrades, Vision lost that feature that we found valuable for our billing process. Vision is lacking in end of year reporting functionality. For example, end of year 1099 functionality is lacking. States require the account id assigned to companies to be reported on 1099s. Vision is currently unable to print accurate paper copies nor is it able to provide an accurate electronic file. Customer support was not able to help me and I had to manually edit the electronic file in order to have a 1099-MISC that would pass our state's criteria. Vision does not provide reporting for form 1099-INT which I need for reporting interest on shareholder payouts. Financial reporting is lacking some. Balance Sheets typically have Assets on page 1 and Liabilities and Equity on page 2. I have not found a way to easily achieve this with settings in Vision. I have employees that would like to be able to review their payroll withholdings and paystubs at any given time, but are not able to do that. At times, Vision is disappointing for the Accounting department. At other times, it is a rock star for us. Pros Integregrates the engineers project management with accounting reporting. Cons Payroll tax/End of Year Tax Reporting is lacking. October 18, 2019 3.0 It feels like software from the mid 2000s. It works, but is clunky and unpleasant. I find myself going through many unnecessary clicks to accomplish common tasks. E.g. When entering a comment for a task e, i need to type it, click in a separate comment box to ensure it's saved, and then only can I navigate away. I don't think they would be in business long if they launched today without their existing legacy user base. Pros It accomplishes the task it sets out to do. It logs time. Cons It has an outdated user interface, and the navigation is not well thought through. The simplicity of it almost makes it complicated, but it will get the job done if you are looking for an affordable program for project management. Cons Deltek is extremely elementary in an age where companies need more functionality within programs of this nature. This platform is only for project management, which means in a larger company, you will need to supplement with an actual HRIS. You end up putting in information twice (one with deltek and one with an HRIS) which is a time-waster. It would be nice if the program communicated to and HRIS, so that changes or information input into Deltek wouldn't need to be entered in multiple places. Review Source SD Shawna D. Pros In general, it meets our needs but it does seem that we are always being asked for customizations by our users that is not presently available. Cons Reporting performance is awful! We have had a consultant come out at least twice for an overall health check and recommendations and in my opinion we did not get a lot of value from this. It takes a ridiculously long time to run many of our reports and it's a constant source of pain for both the users and those of use who support the product. We have worked through all the troubleshooting steps that have been recommended and it's still an issue. It seems that anyone I talk to from larger firms all have the same issue. It feels as though Deltek works well for small-medium size firms but not larger global ones. Review Source DR Donna R. Self Employed Used the software for: 2+ years ### "The product is ok but the Customer Support and Configuration Conceptual Scope presentation is lame" March 7, 2017 3.0 As a skilled user of many software products, getting an overview of the Configuration and it's effect on each module is very difficult and thus hard to seamlessly change once set. The product seems designed to promote consulting fee generation by Deltek, and when one can't CALL a 1-800 number and get support WITHOUT opening a "Case" (and being charged for same or having to fight to not be charged) it speaks volumes about the company's priorities. The company also seems more concerned about fancy reporting than improving existing BOOKEEEPING needs in the product. I no longer recommend this product to others. Pros OK project reporting and tracking Cons Complexity of configuration options that are not presented well in "the manual" (on line only and if you want it on paper, even after having purchased the product, you have to PAY extra for it!) and very little "conceptual based" information. The "User Guidance" seems geared to a non-professional managing this software as evidenced by the "how to click click" mentality in instructions. Also, getting past the front line Help People (who are great) to a higher level to discuss concerns is IMPOSSIBLE. And the "Customer Care" system - re-designed and implemented since 2003) is a step backward in "Care" to my view. Also, the company does not send out "Known Bugs" as they are discovered, rendering re-work at so many levels it should be of concern to the company yet there is a stated policy of NOT releasing them to PAID FOR users. You do not need to be a programmer to learn how to set it up. The software is very responsive and it is seamless between time and billing. Cons The software is only available on Explorer. I find it difficult to somethings find out what information I need out of it. I have also had issues with the saving function, which results in lost work, time and sometimes having to completely start over. Would like to see the copy and paste functionality be improved. It has a simple user interface in order to easily input time tracking and payroll line items. Cons The thing I like least about this software is the complexity. When searching for specific date, it is difficult to set the correct parameters in order to find exactly what I need to find. August 16, 2021 4.0 Overall I like the ease of use as well as the functionality of this mobile app. I rarely use it from a computer, but I do access it at times. It is a one stop place for me to keep track of my time as well as create detailed expense reports. Pros I like the fact that I am able to track my time anywhere. With the mobile app I am able to find the certain job I am on and bill time to it. I also like that I am able to create full expense reports from the app. Cons There are times when a new month starts, it doesn't save my favorites and I have to go find them again. We use it as our primary project management software and it has worked well for us. There are some areas that are not as user friendly and it can take quite a bit of effort to figure it out but once you understand how the system works, the possibilities are endless. One feature I do not care for is the reporting and the fields are not in alphabetical order. I love the advanced search feature in reporting. I love the A/R transaction input experience where you just pull the invoice and it puts everything in. That is outstanding. Timesheets is another great feature of Deltek. One thing I feel needs to improve is the A/R search under the Accounting Tab/Accounts Receivable/Invoice Review, if you don't know the invoice number and search by client, it pulls all projects for that client. It should only pull those projects with outstanding A/R. I don't care for the customer service thru the help. Calling was much better. Pros The A/R transaction entry, the advanced search in reporting, timesheet processes. Cons The project reporting list of fields not in alphabetical order when you are trying to create a report. I know you can sort but it would take that step away if it was automatic. The search for an invoice number under Accounting/Accounts Receivable/Invoice Review. Review Source JN Joel N. With an amazing interface (dashboard for quick access), you can make plans and generate detailed reports needed for decision-making. Pros When it comes to everything accounting, this tool is reliable and effective. You can effectively manage budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue report and financial forecasts. Financial planning requires accuracy and detailed info and therefore, it can be daunting when you are dealing with several projects at a go that require planning. This tool saves you all the trouble and helps you plan accordingly . Secondly, it makes organization pretty simple. You can determine which of your staff are suitable for a particular project based on previous reports detailing their performance on the project. You can also get to the root of issues because everything is pretty much detailed. Businesses have ups and downs from time to time and having a tool that helps you get to the bottom of hindrances is an added advantage. It guarantees you great and reliable insight with features such as payroll, mobile app, expense management and client invoice among others. Cons Though it fully covers planning for business in nearly all aspects, I'd really ask that they check out resource planning. Document implementation shouldn't have hitches at all. Vision is infinitely superior to BST. BST is an abomination it takes twice as long AT LEAST to do anything. I wish we could continue to use vision. It was more flexible, intuitive and efficient. Pros It is intuitive and versatile and could be used to meet our customers needs. Cons Compared to BST which I have to use now I love everything about Vision. When I had not experienced the contrast I would say there were some fields that you typed in that you had to expand to use and that was a nuisance. Or that in interactive billing there is a lot of gray space that I would rather see my data in. However, I had ever used BST before I would have be thrilled to open the screen to change the notes instead of 5 components to do one invoice. Our documentation of our resources is easier with Deltek Vision. Cons Deltek Vision is best used by someone with experience regarding the software. It is a little complex for beginners. Cons I like the software, but I don't think my company uses it to its fullest potential. I can't see any of my employee information and seems like it could be a tool that allows me to see where I am at in the company with just a few clicks, but its not used that way. PM and accountants are able to clearly see every project and allows for easy out of the box project reporting. Customer service is also amazing. Cons Our set up is a bit different, we have a lot of customization which sometimes affects the software's performance, but this is our own doing so we can't hold it against the product. Benefits to your firm can be vast from timesheets, to project plans to CRM data and coordination. However its unlimited potential also leads to a lack of intuitive processes for the casual user. Lots of training time is required for high performance users to be able to track and understand the data and reporting and connection. Can require significant time to accurately input and adjust details as project fees and schedules change. Pros Ability to report out data and create customizable reports and methods of reviewing and previewing that data. Useful for forecasting and reviewing upcoming projects. Cons Not user friendly or intuitive. Field names and connections to other fields are not readily apparent. Takes years to become fluent in the program.
