Pros Canto has made it easy for us to have all our usable photography accessible in one place. It's super easy to put together and share a customized set of images and logos. Cons Cropping and resizing is cumbersome for new users. Cons Not being able to delete within the shared collections section and the time it takes to upload videos. System will time out occasional. November 23, 2021 5.0 Canto has been an amazing platform for our organization. It has been easy to use and easy to manage so far. The portals have been a huge help to us and our employees love that it is easy and simple to navigate around. Pros Canto is very user friendly. I love that you can search for content and easily find what you're looking for in a matter of seconds. The reports are also very detailed and helpful to admins. Cons One missing feature I wish Canto had is to make it possible to delete an asset from a share link. Currently I have found that the only way to delete something from a share link is to completely delete the asset from the main library. It would be amazing if we had this feature! We have non-sales assets that we need to reference. A great example is our tradeshow display materials which we make available for our field teams to select from for their shows. Pros We purchased Canto because it had the key features we needed. Tagging, searchability, categorization. Simple implementation, easy-to-use. We needed a way to store our assets outside of the sales org and Canto provides an easy way for doing this. October 17, 2017 5.0 Over 10,0000 images in our library searchable at the stroke of a button. Priceless! Pros Super easy to use, I barely even need to "train" colleagues with how to use, it's actually easier to just let people look around on the site for 2 minutes as it's so intuitive. I have been able to keep over 10K detailed, rare photos organized, located, shared, and clean in terms of duplicates and low/high res files. What I like most is the people though, the attention we got felt like the same as if we were NASA signing up, they took our project seriously and helped us baby the starting of the program right through to checking in from time to time. Cons There are a few little keystroke things but when Flight gets updated it seems like the engineers are on the right tracks as things improve all the time. There could be improvements with searchability, for example being able to have the drop down menu when inputting a tag come up with JOHN SMITH when I start with S and not just when I start typing J. It makes my job so much easier than if I just had to search through hard drives and remember where everything was like I used to. Pros Love the ability to keyword and tag all of our photography, then search through thousands of photos quickly and easily. Also the ability to select a few photos and make a link to just those photos that I can send to people is something I use almost every day. The new facial recognition also works well Cons Working with other graphic files can be a little frustrating, i like other filesharing software more for this as with Canto I have to download a file, edit it and then reupload it. July 23, 2020 5.0 Pros Canto has saved us countless hours of wasted time searching across departments, servers, and computers for assets that are needed daily. The use of customized portfolios has helped us allow our end users to peruse and search galleries customized to their needs, all while protecting assets that are internal-use only from being seen. Cons Would love to see the option to copy metadata/tagging onto new assets in an album from those already in the album. This would be a time saver especially with multiple custom tag options! We just launched it to our whole company and everyone is very pleased with the tool because they are able to get their own photos without having to come through marketing. Pros We love that we can control who sees what assets. We are able to control the download file type. We are also able to easily share assets with other people outside our company. Cons The only con is that to share an image it takes about three clicks to get the URL copied to your dashboard which can be time-consuming. Tons of ways to tag, folder and album content. It is extremely robust and no matter how you think through content management it can do it or the Canto team has a work around until they create the thing you want. With Canto we're able to get assets around the world to our international offices as well to our customers! This tool has been a great answer to the problems we were facing. Pros Tagging images is our favorite feature, we love how easy it is to search and find images. The overall folder structure and visual representation of your images makes usage simple for our employees around the world. We also love that we are able to add as many consumers to the platform as we want without having to pay for more users, that sets Canto apart from a lot of DAM systems. Cons We primarily use canto for images, however when we do upload documents it would be great it they were displayed more visually. They continue to develop features and customer support is very helpful. The biggest value for our team was being able to find images and videos when we need them for our projects and super simple assest shareing with our team and outside designers. Pros We needed a solution to get our ever-growing photo and video library under control. Canto offered the most robust yet easy to use system for organization of our digital assets. File/folder trees, albums, smart albums, keywords, tags, facial recognition, and most importantly duplication detection that actually works. Cons as a relitivly small business Canto was an big expence for us espically when compared to the relitive low costs for online storage like dropbox or google drive and google photos. February 26, 2021 5.0 Canto is an excellent resource for managing your digital assets all in one place that everyone can access. Pros What I like most about Canto right now is their customer support. They definitely saved the day for me a couple of Friday afternoons ago. I inadvertently deleted several important files while working on two portals. Since I'm not an admin on the account, I couldn't restore them myself. It was late on a Friday night so I couldn't contact any of our account admins. I was in a panic! However, they responded quickly and restored all of my files. I was jumping with joy! Thank you! Cons There are actually no cons to using Canto software. We had files all over the place: file servers, personal computers, Light Room, drop box, you name it. Now we use Canto as our single repository for storing assets. Our in-house team of designers has easy access to assets because users within the various business units are contributing up-to-date information. The user interface is much like many popular stock photography websites, so our non-technical users have been quick to adopt it. Our infrastructure team also likes that we aren't sending giant email attachments anymore! We could not be more pleased with Canto. Pros Customer Service: If I ever email our account representative with a question or change to our account I hear back very quickly, many times within the hour. User Interface: The UI is very user friendly. We've had no issues with non-technical users adopting the system. Scalability: We love that we were able to start small and grow. Coworkers in other states often comment on how quickly we can supply them with dozens of photos for a project Pros I like how intuitive the search feature is; our archive is set up to where all keyword associated with any folder a photo is in will be found in a search. Cons Currently we are installing the Cumulus Client on each individual computer as needed, so few people have access to the archive. We now have a manageable, cloud-based asset library. Our communications team can keep tabs on what assets are being used for which projects and have a better handle on copyright violations. Canto offers functionality that allows us to share assets internally and externally with plenty of options for access control. Pros Canto is incredibly user-friendly and easy to learn to use. My organization hasn't yet done a full roll-out of the system, but the test users that are using the system found it easy to figure out with very little training. I purposefully left instructions vague and the test cases were able to find their way around the system with very few follow-up questions. It has provided our organization with an accessible, streamlined process for managing images and selecting them for print and digital communications pieces. Cons Canto charges based on total number of users, so for smaller organizations like ours, it is very cost-effective, but that may not hold true for larger companies. Review Source MV Malu V. October 24, 2017 5.0 Before Flight team members would request photos and it would take time to find exactly what they needed. With Flight team members can search through the photos themselves and discover images they didn't even know we had making them even happier! Pros Flight is easy to use and has many options for all levels of use. We were able to quickly upload thousands of photos, plus organize and tag them so in the future we can locate what we need quickly. Another wonderful feature if you are looking for a large number of photos is to save what you like to a custom folder and download them all at once. Cons Wish Flight had facial recognition for tagging. We have thousands of photos to tag and this feature could help identify people and save hours and hours of time. Review Source Caitrin J. Canto has made a HUGE overnight difference in how accessible our files are. The ease of file sharing is good for our customer-facing colleagues. Pros My team especially loves the search and tagging funtions and how easy it makes to find what we're looking for - VAST improvement over the cascading folder organization of our Windows file management. I like that it feels similar to other file storage solutions (Dropbox, NextCloud, etc...) because we don't have to spend much time training our users on how it works. It's super easy to upload and cateogorize new files so they show up where we want them to. Cons It might be nice to hide unused filtering options - we don't need all of them and I think some users may be overwhelmed when they see the neverending filter options and think they have to use them.
