Terrible. Canto is not just a terrible software system. This entire company is a scam. The account manager \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] ignored our emails about cancellation and their Account manager \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] kept sending us invoice for the service that we already canceled. We now have to report them under Australian law and International law to prevent them from scamming businesses in the future.

Pros

Nothing. Canto is a terrible software and very difficult to use.

Cons

Customer service is a joke. Interface is terrible. Nothing works. We found Google drive to be much better than Canto.

We have been using Canto for a few years, it has definitely made our staff less dependent on me to provide them with images and other digital assets. It has also made it easier to provide content to other staff members and vendors around the world.

Pros

We love how easy Canto is to use. There are so many fantastic features and they're constantly upgrading the product. With most of our staff working remotely we use Canto often to collaborate with each other and vendors.

Cons

I'd like to see better facial recognition, more granular permissions for users, and more accurate smart tags.

We loved the intuitive nature of Canto, it's really easy to use for people that may not have a lot of experience with these types of products.

Pros

The ease of access with Canto was one of the main selling features for us. Rather than trying to have multiple users fighting for access to our photos and creative assets on a single server, we now can access this any time, any where. It's incredibly user friendly, and has been easy to teach other members of the company how to navigate quickly. The overall look of the software is visually appealing and it's very simple to organize.

Cons

There are almost no cons that I can think of in terms of the software. We briefly had an issue with tags not registering on new uploads, but that was resolved very quickly and may have just been an internet glitch. Whenever I've had a question or concern, if i couldn't find the answer i needed from the internal help function, the Support Team respond so quickly that any issues are resolved almost immediately.

The software provides a great way to organize, store, and access files in a central location available to everyone in the company. Searching is easy with capability to customize metadata to each asset. Visual thumbnails provides another easy and quick way to find records.

Pros

There are several things I like about this software. 1) Capability to create custom metadata for my files. 2) Ability to search text in documents. 3) Ability to tag files to several different categories (folders) without creating duplicate files. 4) Drag and drop files into categories. 5) Capability to create customized catalogs. 6) Ability to search in multiple fields. 7) Large size limit for uploading files.

Cons

I use the enterprise vault and uploading files can be time consuming. This problem is related to internet speed and local firewalls.

Pros

Canto has a ton of features and continues to roll them out as they intake customer feedback and use cases. I like that this software is highly customizable and that we get new feature offerings often to simplify our workflow. The user experience is really great.

Cons

The upload times can be really slow sometimes, which is a challenge when trying to upload and tag large batches of assets.

Reason for choosing Canto

When looking at other products, Canto was the clear winner. Not only was Canto the most user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing, it was also the most customizable product out there. If you are on a team that wants to customize your asset management tool to suit your tagging and filing needs, this is the right product to pick.

We handle a LOT of photos year over year and need to to be able to pull up specific images wuickly. this tool has saved us HOURS of digging through photo archives.

Pros

The sorting and tagging functions for our photos are extremely useful. They also allow us to very quickly collect images of a certain type and share them with someone outside our core team.

Cons

Honestly i don't have much to complain about. I suppose i wish there were some more affordable options for smaller businesses or personal use - but for our organization it's certainly worth the money.

Canto has been an incredible resource for managing our huge library of digital assets. We are more organized than ever, and the ease of use for our clients and suppliers has been fantastic.

Pros

Canto works on all internet platforms, shows a thumbnail preview of almost all file types (.eps, .ai, .pdf, etc) for easy recognition, and is easy to use for all of our users, and the customer service is quick to respond and find a solution for any and all issues.

Cons

There is a limited number of users that can be added to our Canto platform, and there is less opportunity for compartmentalization, as the key feature of Canto is the search function.

### "Makes storing and sharing files easy!"

I never realized how much time I wasted having to find sharing links or downloading files to then go email to others until I started using Canto and didn't have to do that anymore. Plus, being able to search on tags and keywords means that I don't have to remember a file name to be able to find it.

Pros

Canto is easy to learn and quick to use daily. With files and albums, everything stays organized. Tags and keywords makes searching for a file quick and easy. Plus, sharing files doesn't require others to have a Canto login and doesn't require me to download the file to send in an email.

Cons

Getting used to the keywords and tags when searching takes a little time, but once you start using it daily, it becomes a breeze.

The system is not "heavy" on the infrastructure -it works how you would hope asset management would work. On a few occasions, we have needed to reach out to support for help and they were everything you could hope for. In one instance, my client was not sure if they still had a support contract, but they also had an issue causing some business impact. Due to some turnover and changing of rolls, my client could not find the correct ownership information either. Canto support helped get my client their historical invoices, get them back on a support contract, and help solve the problem. It's important to note: support helped me solve the problem, before my client paid the invoice on the contract. I really thought that was impressive, that Canto recognized the severity of the situation, and was willing to help, when they were perfectly within the right to not help.

Pros

After getting the old system upgraded, my client was able to offload some of the work the creative team previously did, to an account services team. That team was able to fulfill client requests for images without getting the creative group involved. It helped speed the responses to clients and vendors as well as balance the workload.

Cons

So far we have not had any internal issues or complaints!

Pros

We started using Canto as an option to share within our company so that everyone had access to pull assets. Prior to Canto we had 1-2 people that could actually find pieces within our server so they spend a ton of time just finding things for people, with Canto in place and all of the metadata features they're able to find what they need most of the time and have freed up those other people to work on bigger processes and pieces within the company that showing impact versus spending so much of their time digging to find assets for others.

Cons

We have yet to find anything that we would change about Canto - it's truly been a time saver for us.

Pros

Canto has made it possible for us to eliminate the need for staff designers to find images for people across campus. With a 100-seat plan, we have been able to identify key users in departments who can locate and download their own images. With most of us working remotely during the pandemic, we have access to what we need when we need it. Batch uploading of images makes it easy to upload and tag images in a time-efficient way. Images can be saved in various albums - which is also super helpful.

Cons

While competitively priced against similar products (and less than others we looked at) it's a fairly substantial financial investment.

We struggled with finding digital assets before Canto, and our previous tools didn't allow for shared access. Now our whole team has access to all our assets, and sharing outside the team is easy.

Pros

Canto has made managing our digital assets and sharing across our design team and enterprise far easier than with our previous tools. It automatically makes metadata searchable, and it's pretty easy to import assets from old systems.

Cons

I'd like more integration with Adobe Creative Cloud software. There is an InDesign plugin, but similar tools for other programs would be helpful. The organizational structure can be a little clunky and limiting, due to this being a web-based tool.

Pros

Canto is easy to search and navigate through. The tagging function is helpful for organization.

Cons

I do think the overall design could be improved. The UI/UX design is plain. I also think that a desktop version should be available so you can access content offline.

Overall this was exactly what we needed - an affordable but robust digital asset management system that we can deploy to all of our different audiences.

Pros

The searchability is by far the best feature that we have used with Canto. While the other features are also powerful and helpful, the ability to type in pretty much any term and curate a list of assets immediately that I can download in my desired format has saved us hours of searching.

Cons

The interface could be a bit more approachable - compared to some other DAM software, it is much better, but it could also be more navigable and attractive. Without extensive admin training, it can be hard to find the features you're looking for.

Price & usability - better value for a cleaner look.

I implemented Canto into the design workflow at Honda R&D about 15 years ago to manage our tens of thousands of film and digital files of cars, motorcycles. We needed a secure way to store and retrieve our assets , Cant was the solution.

Pros

Easy to use and very secure. Originals stay in the Vault and are safe from users changes/removal. Key wording and meta data are easy to set up and use.

Cons

Slight learning curve. Some users who are not familiar with DAM systems may has a slow start but do get up and running soon.

Reason for choosing Canto

Canto Cumulus had the best security, customization and bang for the buck.

### "Customizable DAM"

It simply does what I need it to do and when I need help, they are always quick at Canto to resolve my trouble or help me discover a solution.

Pros

We use this to offer a DAM to our client. We maintain all of their assets and this allows them to have access to the resources we have organized and optimized for them. One of the features I enjoy is the custom client facing portal that is branded for the specific client, while maintaining a separate branded portal for internal use.

Cons

It can be difficult to keep it maintained. That being said, new features like Google Drive sync is making great progress in making this a flawless system. Once all of it is completed, I will never need to upload files to it again as anything I save to the Drive will automatically load into Canto!

Pros

Canto is being used across our whole company to maintain and organise our image and video library. As a designer the Adobe connector was a major reason for us going with Canto, being able to have that connectivity between Canto and Indesign has saved us so much time. Canto is easy to use and very intuitive.

Cons

With our previous Asset Management system it would create a unique sequential number for each new file that was uploaded this is something that we have not been able to do with Canto. This would have been beneficial to us as it would have helped with our workflow.

Pros

Awesome asset management tool to collaborate on with coworkers. Whether its within your team or collaborating with other teams, its the best way to keep all of the assets and comments/copy in one place. Before Canto, everything was done over email and messages/assets would be lost. With Canto, things are trackable and always in one place. The searchability function helps save so much time when lookin for specific tasks. love working in Canto!

Cons

This is a bit of user error, but when a coworker comments directly to someone else, they need to comment their @name for them to get a notification otherwise you never know they made a comment

Overall I am very happy with the purchase of Canto. It has provided a centralized location for our global assets that were previously dumped into silos of imagery all of the world. We can now store them knowing they are protected and easy to use.

Pros

After researching several DAM systems, Canto provided the features we needed withing the price range we wanted. Loading assets is easy and straightforward and our end users find the interface familiar and friendly without much training required.

Cons

I wish the internal approval process was a big smoother.

We've had a very positive experience with the platform overall. We're nearly 4 months into our subscription and still feel like we're at the tip of the iceberg. We're anxious to utilize the client portal feature and have our install teams remotely uploading images from our work sites to be curated and cataloged.

Pros

The ease with which metadata tagging can be accomplished is likely the greatest strength for our use of this product. We've managed to create a keyword/tag database that now allows us to navigate our full media catalog with ease, and has made our workflow infinitely more streamlined. The branding guideline and adobe integration is definitely an additional benefit we're looking to utilize to its fullest shortly.

Cons

We operate in a segment with non-standard products so, unfortunately, we can't use the "smart tagging" system to its full potential.However, for tagging the "minutia" (As we call it) within the photo, but not necessarily the focus, the smart tagging system is great.

### "Great for our Independent School "

Before using Canto Flight, we had a huge photo storage problem. We are a K-12 school in the Bay Area with approximately 2,500 students. Having 3 campuses with a plethora of photos being taken at events and marketing photo shoots, we needed a solution that could store a large number of photos, be accessible off-campus (our old system was uploading all of the photos to an on-campus server), and that was easy for our staff to use. Canto met all of our needs! We currently have over 33,000 photos, 100 videos, and 1,000 documents stored, with over 2,000 GB (yes that's right, Gigabits) left of storage. The cloud system makes it easy for our photographers to upload photos and for us to access them without having to be on campus. Though the interface has gone through multiple changes (which has made it hard to train less-computer savvy staff), overall it's a pretty instinctual interface. Additionally, the Canto representatives have always been quick to respond with any issues that have arisen.

Pros

Large amount of storage space, multiple download and sharing options, ability to tag assets with keywords.

Cons

Slow to upload (slow overall), the ever-changing interface (making our tediously-made "how to" guides for staff quickly irrelevant).
