We chose to write our own php based web services and query our database systems rather than rely on the integrated Appery database system. With some limited javascript understanding, you can create some very powerful and multi-functional applications using Appery. Pros The best thing about the system is you can develop once and deploy to both Android and iOS platforms. The system is also easy to use and flexible depending on your level of expertise. You are not required to use their backend systems if you wish to use your own or others. Support to date has also been exceptional through combined use of their forums and access to the technical support staff. Cons The Apple and Android requirements are constantly shifting and sometimes you may run into issues where you'll need to wait for an Appery update in order for your output to get through the myriad of changing requirements required by the app stores. I am very much a beginner which is why I ultimately didn't hit it off with Appery Cons It was slightly advanced for my level - I don't know that that's a knock on the software, just something to be aware of if you're coming in with zero programming/app-building knowledge. It had pre-design modules with a few choices to customise them. In the end my app worked great on both tablet and mobile. Cons If you want to do something a it more complicated like adding a search bar, you definitely need to know programming, java, or html.
