Pros: Easy to use software and training materials. Customer support is very helpful and able to assist at all times. Customers enjoy the ease of the check out experience. Employees are able to quickly learn and check out. Easy to adjust and add inventory.

Cons: Not a huge fan of the shop keep pocket app. I wish that I could use it like the full website. I do appreciate the updates over the past year.

Overall: Easy to use, quick and fast training tools, helps with cost analysis and spending.

Comments: Can't wait to switch to a different POS system. I've looked into clover and it's is more expensive than shopkeep but I have a feeling they will work with my business needs.

Cons: Printer doesn't work properly, always malfunctioning tech support is horrendous.Highly unrecommended. One call to Portland than a call to the U.K., with not one person able to solve the problem. Each time given a different solution that only temporarily fixed it. This has caused problems of me having to pay employees for a longer shift since we are unable to close out the drawer, due to reciepts not printing and customers unable to close out tabs. On one occasion I called I was told to delete the app and reinstall it before doing this I told the rep that I had 12 open tabs. He said no problem they will still be there when I reinstall, well they weren't everything was wiped.

Pros: Ease of use, the overall looks and above all the SERVICES SUPPORT........... The staff actually listens to your point of view with regards to the changes you suggest and gets in touch with their developers and try to incorporate those features ASAP.

Cons: The back end could have been better. I was not impressed with the inventory reporting aspect and also it lacked a few features which were more specific to the jewelry industry.

Our music store used shopkeep for a year and a half until switching to a more sophisticated system

Pros: Very understandable POS solution for any situation with a straight forward business model like a gift shop, concessions, cafe, coffee shop, or anything that doesn't require website integration, serial number records, repairs, or other peripheral activities.
Having customized square icons, or buttons, for popular items is a great feature if it fits the business style.
Training a new clerk can be completed very quickly.

Cons: Sales can only be performed on an iPad. Using iPads and bluetooth has some benefits, but I have found it better to use PC and USB RF wireless devices, or even usb plugged in devices. With shopkeep a monthly fee is charged per activated iPad, and since there is no USB jack, there are two big limitations in the set up flexibility.
Bluetooth can also disconnect and require some troubleshooting, right when you need a recepit to print. Bluetooth also has a slight delay when going to wake up a device.

Overall: We built our first digital inventory database while using shoopkeep and were then able to migrate that data to a more robust system.

Comments: I have been a loyal customer for 5 years with 2 restaurants and Shopkeep in both restaurants and I would not but it in another shopkeep system based on the customer service that I have had recently.

Pros: Shopkeep is easy to use for anyone. The back office is helpful and provides good information. I like that you can customize the pages to fit your needs.

Cons: Shopkeep's customer service is really bad. I rarely have an issue that I need to call Shopkeep about, usually I can trouble shoot most of the issues that we have. However, when I do have a problem, the people that answer the customer service lines seem to have very little or no knowledge of their own system. The people they hire repeat things over and over instead of trying to problem solve. On one call, the person kept putting me on hold and asking someone what I was asking him and then he would get back to me. It seems as though before they try to trouble shoot they try to blame it on something else. They usually try to blame it on my internet provider before they finish hearing what my problem is. Today when I called, I asked to speak with a supervisor because the CS person didn't know how to resolve my issue. He said there was no supervisor there today. What kind of unprofessional business is this that they don't have anyone to help when the CS person can't. In addition, call wait times are ridiculously long. Lastly, there is a real problem with their system that allows employees to steal money with their void system. I have told them several times for over a year that their system should be able to produce a report for all checks that are voided. They have not considered it a priority since a year later there is still no report for voided tickets. I had an employee steal thousands of dollars from me due to Shopkeep not being able to produce a voided checks report.

It seems they have gone downhill.....

Comments: If someone asks for a call don't email. I have lots of questions and need someone knowledgeable for a few minutes to answer them all. Email is inefficient when one of your "answers" leads to more questions and you can't get responses slowly. I would love one person to take ownership of issues and be in easily reachable until the issue is resolved. I don't like having to talk to a new person every time.

Pros: The system is fairly easy to use and my new employees are able to learn it quickly. The bird's eye view is very helpful in knowing how we are doing day to day. I really like the comparisons to the same day last year and last month to see we grow month after month. I like the free MailChimp integration, They recently made a lot of updates that have made the system better and returns smoother.

Cons: It seems they are slow to implement updates, they didn't have an android phone app until recently and you can't see tons of info on it. I wish you could pull up past inventory values for specific days or time periods. The EMV capability on our card reader took well over a year to go active. The battery on the ICMP card reader dies in about 30 minutes of being unplugged not even used. You can't edit saved checks and can't do exchanges. They have a newer integration with BigCommerce that I was excited about because we already have a BC store and have to manually sync the inventory between the two. The problem is the integration isn't working with our store and they don't seem to know why. They have escalated the issue and supposedly the Q&A team is working on it but it's been over a month with no progress and it takes days for them to respond to requests for updates. They recently increased the price from $49 a month to $69 which is a large percentage increase. I've called service several times and asked for a manager to talk to and no one is ever available. I was told I'd get called back and one time a "lead" emailed me back and never responded to my follow-up email when I asked for a call. I then called again and asked for a manager and was told someone would call me back in 24 hours and no one ever did. I am now actively looking at other systems to replace Shopkeep because they don't call me back. I even tried to look for a regular non "800" number to call and attempt to call and speak to a supervisor but one doesn't seem to exist. I thought the customer service was good in the past but recently it has been horrible.

Comments: Be careful with BYOD equipment (they prefer you buy from them). I recently added a wireless receipt printer and had problems with the system printing multiple receipts. When I contacted support they stated my solution is not supported but they would try to help me. The problem got fixed by deleting all three printers and re-adding them but I was concerned about the not support comment. Seems like they are way behind on current technology.

Pros: Quick to learn and easy to operate. A recent update made navigating tabs easier if you have more than one screens worth of tabs.

Cons: Serverless sync needs work. If you have a second register you do not open shifts on very often, you will have to clear out old tickets on it before you can use it without confusion. Would love to be able to view, adjust, and receive inventory from a single screen. If you have lots of adjustments to do, you have to run a report and print it then go to adjust or receive separately. Just raised monthly subscription prices 30%+ unless you committed paying to at least two years in advance. Who knows where you might be in two years?

I needed some advice and someone to help point me in the right direction.

Comments: For someone who had no idea where to start this is the company I would recommend any person to start with their search.

Pros: I was happy that there wasn't a fee to talk to someone and the fact that I could easily ask questions. My rep was so friendly and had a lot of great pointers and asked questions I would not have even thought to ask.

Cons: The only downside I noticed was not even in this company. My rep set me up with 5 potential companies for my needs and only two reached out to me.

They sold products they haven't finished the programming on and do not work

Comments: Shopkeep has been responsive, but: 1. Shopkeep encourages you to set up your items using in the form of "Variant" on their training videos, but then neglect to tell you that those items will not ever print on the ticket printer they sold you until you do a deep dive into their online library. 2. Shopkeep uses www.BigCommerce.com to set you up with an on-line e-commerce capacity. However, from May 29th through June 19th or so hundreds of use were unable to connect and use our E-commerce accounts because of a programming issue (like in #1) that they just weren't smart enough to handle promptly. When I asked for a refund on the $295 unusable printer...here was the response: Allen (6/22/2017, 3:14:45 PM): Thank you for contacting ShopKeep support! Give me a moment to pull up your account. Allen (6/22/2017, 3:15:39 PM): Hi Noel! It'll take me a minute to look into this, I'll get you an answer ASAP Me (6/22/2017, 3:15:50 PM): Thank you Allen (6/22/2017, 3:28:41 PM): Hey Noel, I'm still working with people on this. I haven't forgotten about you Allen (6/22/2017, 3:34:03 PM): Alright. I spoke with some of the supervisors, your sales rep, and your ShopKeep Expert. Greg confirmed that he recommended modifiers, not variants. Jeff confirmed that he didn't say that variants would work with a ticket printer. Pros: Available to talk to via chat at extended hours...though you wait a long time between sentences and better not have a client come in needing attention because then you will get dropped and or distracted and have to start over.

Cons: They proudly suggest you set up your store using the updates to their program (variations under each item), but then neglect to tell their staff, much less the client, that they didn't finish the programming and your ticket printer won't print ANY of these items.

Pros: Works on an iPad tablet, somewhat fast support, good cloud based reports and easy to update the backoffice.

Cons: Seems to be behind on technology, no smartphone processing, Apple based only except for dashboard software.Credit card processing system can only be ordered from them online and is a pain if you need something

Pros: Screen layout, easy to train employees on, tracking screen fairly simple, customer service has fast response times but can't ever really help you

Cons: Hard to set up the layout of the menu, some features not available. Service quality (ex. daily emails with card sales went away) decreased and price increased! My business is too small to pay fee just to use. Complicated process for seeing money processed by cards

Pros: I love the back office abilities to crunch your numbers allowing me to make better business decisions. I have saved a lot of time with this POS and it's seamless back office in regards to gathering pertinent information like monthly sales tax, employee hours and return customer activities.

Cons: There are still functions about Shopkeep that as a buy sell trade business I have to do work arounds in order to make it work for my business model. For instance, % based cost 'when' a consignment item sells. I also would like to rename the tender buttons as it is used for my business. For instance, we use the Other tender when a customer utilizes the Trade in my store. Though these are negatives I am also confident it is possible shopkeep will consider updating this function. That's what I love about Shopkeep. It is not a static, once you buy it that's what you have, POS. It's an ever evolving software that will keep you up to date.

Overall: I have recommended this software many times, and I believe two of those recommendations have elected to use Shopkeep. My personal benefits are ease of training new staff to use it, time savings on back office reports, and the edge it gives my business to utilize the data gathered from the use of this POS.

Comments: We switched from square to shopkeep, because the backoffice of shopkeep was supposed to be better and our business is growing to multiple locations. Unfortunately, we will be going back to square. Shopkeeps customer services have been awful. They are taking over 4% of processing fees and will not let me talk to someone because I refuse to pay for a premium account just to get the issue resolved. I thought shopkeep was known for their great customer service, but switching from square was an absolute nightmare. Wasted in hardware to try it out.

Pros: The reason we switched was because the backoffice was supposedly better, but even that isn't any better than squares.

Cons: customer service, loyalty, processing fees. They make you pay extra per month to talk to someone, even when it's something they messed up.

Pros: Calculated sales tax correctly until latest update.
Price just changed to $69 a month which is a scam to charge for crazy sales tax errors

Cons: DO NOT USE SHOPKEEP

They have a new update to the sales tax calculations. We are a print shop and sell
.10 copies and .05 cents special paper. I rang up 500 color copies @.20 total is $100
State sales tax is 8.25%
Most people could add the sales tax in their head for this amount.....Total should be $108.25
Well guess what good ol Shopkeep says on the iPad???

How can you charge a customer $110 on a $100 taxable sale at 8.25?
That is illegal to over charge a customer on sales tax.

Shopkeeps response is the engineers set up the sales tax to calc on each line item. So that means .02 cents tax which is rounded up. 500 x .02 is $10. Because Shopkeep fails to program the software better I just overcharged customer $1.75

Shopkeep has the worst customer service. They have no management and when I called to ask how to fix sales tax, they sent me to someone named Craig to cancel service. 3 days after cancelling service they will lock you out of the back office.

Shopkeep is the biggest scam to the customer ever. I set up Square account and it adds sales tax perfectly. If Shopkeep can't figure out how to calculate sales tax - why would any business use them?

I suggest every business should ring up a bunch of sample orders and watch the sales tax go wildly off.

The poor CEO of Shopkeep is going to get canned fast if he allows sales tax errors system wide.

Fix your sales tax Shopkeep!

Overall: We learned to be very careful, software isn't perfect and Shopkeep fail miserably.

Hi Kevin, I'm on the Product team at ShopKeep and saw your feedback related to how we calculate tax. I wanted to provide a response so that you understood our stance and why this an improvement. We've progressed from calculating tax on the subtotal to the more modern per-unit tax calculation which provides better accuracy. This is the recommendation of the Streamlined Sales Tax (SST) governing board's recommendation, which is the body that assists states to administer a simpler and more uniform sales and use tax system. The SST also states that both methods of tax accounting are acceptable, even though per-unit is preferred, as long as practiced consistently. I hope that helps. We very much appreciate the feedback. Comments: If you are growing as a store or need to know what your inventory is, this will just bring you down and ruin you....

Pros: Easy to use in the store. Easy for employees to adapt to the system. Can add and delete items quickly in back office if needed.

Cons: All cards run as Credit. Cannot process an exchange, need to return and rebuy. Inventory is constantly off.... I will know I add items in "Inventory adjustment" but the numbers are not correct. Also not a way to add inventory to know that it was a restock. You can if you download their fancy excel sheet and enter your data in there, but who really has time for that. No record of what was added then. Cannot print price stickers if you create an item with variants (at first thought variants were awesome like instead of 6 separate items, have 1 with the different colors. But not I cannot print separate price tags.....) The moment you have any issues with deposits or fraud, just give up. They never resolve anything. They held our credit card deposits for months with no answers. Everyone says something different. "I will call you back as soon as I have an answer..." yeah right, they never call you back. I know it is not the person on the phone, they are just doing what they are told, but what they are told is horrible customer service to just outright lie about what can and cannot be done in the system. If you want to track inventory, don't get SHOPKEEP. Biggest excuse for a POS ever.

Comments: Software should give more accessible feature such as customize order and to edit the product item.

Pros: Touch and order technology that makes even a complex order easily manageable and payment method they are providing.

Cons: After pressing history/return it hangs for a while which makes customer impatient and loss of time consequently.

Comments: This is a great software for a majority of retailer and fast casual dining establishments. Restaurants that need more advance options such as table maps, complicated menus with a variety of modifiers may not find that this software meets their needs.

Pros: - Easy to set up (both with the equipment and the back-end software) - Easy to operate ( the software is intuitive and has great features) - Fantastic customer service (24/7 support included in monthly price)

Cons: - This software can be a bit basic for the restaurant industry (lacks table map, advanced menus, etc) - Tips cannot be altered for a greater amount (even if the batch is still open)

Comments: I'm fit to be tied with this company!!! It was difficult to manage trouble with the tech support when it was available via their so called "24/7" technical support line. Now it is almost impossible to get help now that they have removed their direct tech line. Now they expect companies to submit emails to their tech support, this I assure you is not acceptable!! If this does not change I will be dropping this poorly supported POS system!!

Comments: The worst company ever! From the very beginning we had issues with CC reader working and had to buy (2) separate routers to allow the wireless CC reader to connect and to process cards. Seriously?? I was advised from SHOPKEEP from the very beginning (during on boarding process) that I was going to be charged for monthly maintenance....WRONG... it was for the ability to process gift cards?!!? Really??? Finally, my inventory in the back office is consistently off and today I was advised that I must be imagining this as its impossible and not happening....interesting I must be hallucinating. The managers are rude and take NO accountability for what is going on. Some of the customer care reps are rude and demeaning. Yes I pay SHOPKEEP $ so the staff can talk to me rudely and/or ignore emails. If you want a company that will cause you CONSTANT issues and $ then SHOPKEEP is you POS system!!

Pros: Can tailor your inventory so its easy and personal. Wireless. Not many pieces needed and it can be easily moved.

Cons: Not enough colors for tabs. Customer service and managers are rude and not helpful. Too much scrolling.

Comments: If you make any mistakes on credit swipes or tip input they are unwilling to fix anything. If your merchant service refunds the transaction there's no way to ring it in again through Shopkeep w/o the CVV on the back of the card.

Comments: Shopkeep will not work correctly in a large restaurant environment of 18 ipads, even though they sold it to us anyway stating it would. I am still battling the issue of Shopkeep billing me even after I cancelled in July of 2016, they still owe me and are stating it's my fault that they continued to bill after I sent a registered letter stating that I cancelled. I know the product works very well in smaller settings, just make sure you are aware that they have big problems resolving any billing issues that affect them should they arise.

Pros: Works fine for small businesses, however, no more than 6 ipads at one time. They sold it to me stating it would work with 18

Cons: very poor billing support - cancelled service but they continued billing my credit card and will not pay back the overcharges

Cons: Customer support and hardware support is the absolute worst! I am an easy person to get along with and they ruffled my feathers more than once!

Overall: I ordered the whole system before we were up and running live so that I could check it off the list. Big mistake, cash drawer came with no cable, wrong printer for our application and zero directions for set up. 60 days later when we were up and running, I had to buy a whole new printer (they would not return the first one even though it was never used) and they claimed I must of lost the cable for the cash drawer. (it wasn't ever unpacked) I really tried to work with these folks, but they had my money and was no longer interested in supporting the software. I was told they only sell the hardware as a courtesy to the customers. I will be changing over as I am opening two other sites this year.

Recommendations to other buyers: Yes....don't do it, there are others out there that do a much better job for restaurants.

Pros: Ease of use!

Overall: We opened a small lingerie shop and needed a POS system that was both easy to use/learn and effective for our shop. ShopKeep was so easy to install and learn. The website is wonderful for trouble shooting and tech support is great when you need help. I would recommend this POS system to anyone that wants great quality and super ease of use!

Comments: I use to use paper receipts. I switched to ShopKeep based on internet reviews and the need to modernize. I can't say enough WONDERFUL things about their customer service. They respond to emails fast and either pick up the phone right away or they have a call back feature if they are busy. The app and BackOffice is really easy to use. Set up is easy too and they assign you a person to help with your initial questions. Overall totally worth it! The only thing I hope they improve is the ability to exchange items (currently you can only return).

Cons: The having to add every piece of inventory in, its time consuming, but necessary...

Overall: From Day One, The Shopkeep staff were super helpful and gave us a plethora of information and guided assistance to get everything going. Our scanner and receipt printer were seamless and started working right away and we also paired our own credit card transaction machine with the Shopkeep POS Software with ease. We can now check out our customers a lot faster now with the option of having hot keys for our best selling items in our candy store! Thank you for making a wonderful product that makes our life easier....!! :)

Recommendations to other buyers: When pulling up the item and having to adjust inventory numbers for new stock coming in, I would love to see it have add come up first, instead of delete or subtract.... im always adding more stock into the system than removing it.

Pros: Clean design, easy & intuitive to learn, very stable i.e. does not crash, connectivity has never been an issue, back-office works well in its current format. Tech support always available, helpful, and willing to go the extra step to help when they do not immediately have the answer. Simplicity, meaning one is not overwhelmed with more features than one could use (and which could be rendered pointless if overall stability is a challenge). Fairly flexible layout for the iPad menus. Very straightforward to set-up, and the online resources are comprehensive. I taught myself everything in an afternoon, and staff all took to it quite easily. I have not had to spend hours and hours trying to establish functionality with a line of customers staring at me.

Cons: BackOffice reporting could be a little more comprehensive and with more user control in terms of personalization. Bulk editing and management of inventory/stock items is nice, but individual item edits can be time-consuming if one is only working on 5 items (vs. 50).

Overall: When we first transitioned from a legacy POS to an iPad-based POS, we'd gone with another product that seemed perfect. Unfortunately, that product was like buying a house and discovering a day in and day out that it was full of mold, had cracks in the foundation and other structural problems, and the repair people tasked with helping you seemed trained to make things worse. It required constant attention in order to ensure very basic functionality, crashed constantly, caused massive headaches with credit card processing, and everyone from our account rep to her bosses to "tech support" was so clueless, one could write a sitcom with the stories.

We shopped around for our replacement, making sure to ask all the questions and investigate to the best of our abilities so as not to end up in the same place. We found ShopKeep and could not be more pleased with the results. I cannot overstate how completely opposite every interaction with ShopKeep has been compared with the competitor we replaced. Every question has been answered satisfactorily, every issue dealt with (and not forgotten by an overwhelmed support crew), and every guarantee upheld. Even better, the application itself functions as advertised, so we are not spending actual hours of our time making something work; it just works. We don't experience crashing, lost data, unsolvable credit card processing nightmares, and the rare calls to tech support are quick and painless. There may not be as many back-end bells and whistles in terms of reporting and inventory, but these are always in development, and I feel comfortable saying that when these new elements are introduced they will function as described. The app is clean, intuitive to learn, easy to use, and the resources made available, detailed online instructions, videos, etc. combined with helpful, engaged, communicative staff at all levels ¿ have made ShopKeep a hero to us. If I ever notice ShopKeep being used at another business, I always make a point to ask about it and find the same enthusiastic appreciation I'm trying to convey here. (Whereas I do the same with the competitor we ditched, and always see their eyes glaze over.)

I highly recommend ShopKeep and know that users will be as satisfied as we are to have found them.

Recommendations to other buyers: Changing over to ShopKeep was so easy and such a smooth transition for us. I recommend availing oneself of the online tools and the user Forum in order to keep in touch with other users and provide feedback to ShopKeep (who is always responsive). It is very, very noticeable to work with a company that is responsive and communicative at every level. My hope is that this will always be the case with ShopKeep.

Overall: In 2013 we decided to upgrade our POS system to an iPad based register. At the time, I was looking for something that was straight forward and decently priced. I haven't regretted deciding on ShopKeep. I've never had a situation where I haven't been able to find the information I needed about sales and inventory and any technical issues we've had have been few and far between and phone support has been prompt and thorough. We currently use ShopKeep as our POS system in two separate retail locations.

Comments: As a new small retailer, I wanted to get started it on the right foot. When I asked other retailers what POS they recommend, I was told of the ones they didn't recommend. After doing my own research online, I chose Shopkeep. From inventory to sales transactions to customer lists and marketing, I can do it all with ease. They are constantly adding and updating to make things easier. Their customer support is great and over the phone training is top notch.

Overall: As a Small Business Owner, I thought maybe just doing it on my own would be best. After a few weeks of opening, receipts were lost and inventory was messy. I was looking for the best for my store so I figure to look for an inexpensive POS System that can cater to what I need to be more professional and organized. I came across how many POS Companies trying to sell me what I would call "just sell it because I need the commission" products. I didn't like the fact that all they were doing is selling me something because they needed to meet a quota. I was reading my receipt and at the bottom of my total had ShopKeeps logo so I decided to look more into it and with the great help of their Customer Service I found a POS System that does all that is needed. It was so easy to use. I can manage my daily sales at the end of the day. When my monthly GRT is due it's so easy for me to pull up what I need to complete my form properly. The monthly rate is great. For all the services that they give and you are not entitled to stay on a contract is wonderful. Shopkeep has made a big impact on my business and I am very happy with it. Maybe even grateful!

Comments: When I first opened my boutique I started right from the start with the Shopkeep POS system and have been more than pleased with the ease of use and especially the tech support. Now into year three I can pull up past years sales to the day to see how the business compares with each season and year. Inventory is always readily available and with the phone app I can be anywhere tracking store activity. It's just super!

Pros: Simple and clean interface, backed by powerful options on the back end.

Cons: It seriously needs to become its own website so inventory in the shop and online are one and the same. I keep selling out in store and then the website sells something that is gone!

Overall: Does so many things so well, kind of like an iPhone.
I am anxious for it to transform into a website so double entry is not an issue and inventory in-store and online can be one!

Pros: Easy of use and set up

Cons: Some of the reports have to be downloaded to excel and you can't view them in the application.

Overall: I have a small retail store and party place for girls and have used SK for over 3 years. It's easy to use and train my high school age staff. The support is also great with very short wait times.

Recommendations to other buyers: This is a hardware issue, but the wiper sometimes doesn't charge properly.

Pros: It's easy to use and train people on.

Cons: We do double entry for tags in order to get the size we need. We print them through word.

Overall: It's a great system. We would be lost without it. We looked at a number of systems and shopkeep met our needs almost perfectly. It's not always the case that you like your POS system, so we're happy.

Pros: The efficiency, ease of use, and mobile tracking features. I can make and track sales from multiple devices anywhere in my building.

Cons: I wish there were a way to view when a particular item was sold, as well as to who. I sell very unique items and I want to be able to see when they were last sold without having to pull transaction reports from several months.

Overall: This is a wonderful POS. Very easy to use, features almost everything that I could want. I love being able to make and track sales from anywhere.

It is easy to upload information, track inventory, and view sales statistics by the day, week, or month and set reorder triggers for best-selling items.
Customer support is fast-acting and friendly. They answer my questions efficiently and honestly and really do put the customer first.

Great system--highly recommend!

Recommendations to other buyers: This is a great site, but the mobile-friendly version is not the absolute best if I'm Not using the correct app. A safari/internet friendly version would be nice.

Pros: Ease of use and that the database is in the cloud and always live.

Cons: I have lots of database experience and I feel like I should be able to sort by every field. (and should be able to) but we are limited to best-selling items etc. I would like to be able to sort by supplier or category etc.

Overall: I have tree retail stores and i need to see their sales in real time to make re-orders and to ba able to update the inventory in real time from one central location. I can do all of this with shop keep. It's great! I wish that there was more reporting functionality but i am sure that is on the way! Thanks especially to all of the super helpful people on the support desk!

Recommendations to other buyers: One this that is very important to me is to have the ability to "move" or "transfer" my merchandise from one store to another without having to "sell" the merchandise or to do a bulk movement of the merchandise in excel. Just "transfer". Simple!

Comments: I love ShopKeep. It is so easy to use. They offered assistance in setting up our POS, however, I was able to do it all by myself. I only had to call and ask a couple of questions.

The system is easy and convenient. Our employees were able to learn the system very quickly. I am able to pull inventory and sales reports super quickly via the remote site.

I cannot say enough positives things about shopkeep. I would recommend to anyone starting a small business.

Can't believe we waited so long! Shopkeep has been a blessing!

Cons: Nothing! Everything is perfect! You guys have though of everything. I guess if I had to point something out would be the time clock thing. Businesses shouldn't have to purchase another register just to set up a time clock. That's all!

Overall: From day 1 this has been a great experience! Super easy set-up and easy to train people to use! Most people figure it out in 5 min. I have nothing but great things to say about shopkeep! We have been able to see which items were not doing so well and which ones were. It's a great tool that every business should have!

Pros: How easy it is to use. How their experts are always maintaining and updating the system to make it better and easier.

Cons: Some of the tabs, like the Customer Name tab is a little small and takes a few tries to get it to tap.
It won't pair up to our Moneris Debit System.

Overall: With constant season changes and style changes, I need access to inventory on the go. I love that with Shopkeep I can log in any time, anywhere. I can tap into my inventory to help up to date quantities or to plan a sale. Because Shopkeep is so easy to use AND so easy to access I can work from any smartphone, tablet or computer.
I can also log in to check on hourly or daily sales, do the month, quarterly or year-end reports and forecast daily, weekly or month sales.
Plus I never have to pay extra for updates or maintenance to our system.
I highly recommend Shopkeep for your business!!

Overall: We are a large construction company, we opened up a small retail shop and we needed a new POS system. We were using Costco, which worked fine for our merchant service charges, but once we opened the store it was new ground. I didn't need something fancy, complex, or expensive. I just needed something to make the next step in our company. After doing a lot of research ( A LOT!!) I finally bit the bullet and ordered everything I needed. The price was right they reviewed my old Merchant service fees and beat those fees. I felt like switching to this system was easier on our budget anyway. Support was fantastic! That is probably what made our transition painless. I would highly recommend. I don't feel like we would ever outgrow this system either.

Overall: I had to open a company store from scratch. Had to build it and stock it with the product for my company. I had no idea how to order or manage a point of sale system. Thankfully someone recommended ShopKeep to me. I was able to get up and running with an iPad system including cash drawer, credit card scanner and receipt printer. Other standard register systems were thousands more. I have about 300 items in my store and this system is perfect for what I need. It is extremely easy to use and it's a perfect fit. The back office software is very easy to learn and I was able to enter my products and get up and running in no time. I would highly recommend this pos solution to anyone looking to start or upgrade their current setup.

Pros: Ease of Use. This is some of the most intuitive software I've ever used. It literally took me a couple of hours to learn the system inside and out and my staff is able to count on me for answers any time and I have no problem providing them quick solutions.

Cons: I would really like to see a way that we could consolidate store management into a single back office so that we could transfer stock quickly and easily between stores. Also, if there was a way to have a back stock/storefront separation for inventory, it would save us an insane amount of time with our inventory management control.

Overall: Shopkeep has been an incredible system for us. We've been using it for just over two years now and are extremely satisfied. For the price, you will not find a better system anywhere, and trust me, I've done the research. The cashier end of the system is very intuitive and easy to learn. Teaching my new staff how to use it is a breeze. Customizing the screens makes it easy to sort products by page and button color. The back end of the system is just as easy to use. The built-in analytics can quickly bring up a great overview of how your business is doing. Inventory management is fantastic and very easy to manage. Importing and exporting inventory, customers, sales, etc... is all effortless and great for analyzing data outside of Shopkeep. The App and web-based back office are constantly being updated and improved. Support staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and have always been great at providing us solutions.

For anyone who is looking for a great system for a small retail business that is cost efficient, has great customer support, and is easy to use, look no further... This is the system for you.

The only cons to this system is that you can't manage or transfer inventory between stores in the same back office. You will have to switch between stores and manually add/subtract inventory for each store. Another great feature missing is a separation of stock between the storefront and a storage area. These are features probably better suited to a larger retailer who would need a more capable system but features Shopkeep should consider in their development.

Overall we are very pleased with the system. You can't go wrong!

Recommendations to other buyers: If there was a way to intake batches of inventory and split them or have price breaks that are not percentage based, but rather price based.

Comments: The software is great, very user-friendly, and the support has been exceptional. Any issues we've had have been with hardware. We had to exchange the receipt printer, and the Dymo label printer used for pricing merchandise is not the greatest because it jams easily. But overall this is a very good system, and we are very happy we chose it!

Cons: Some of the reports are weird or I can't get exactly what I want; my register reports on the dashboard are always East coast versus Central time.

Overall: I enjoy this software/register for our small candy store. They seem to keep pushing out new versions and updates that are helpful. I like that I can track inventory, costs, and employees easily. It is very easy for new employees to catch on, even without much computer knowledge. The next thing might be for us to add a bar code scanner, which we don't have. My main complaint is that I haven't been able to figure out how to get the reports to be central and not eastern time zone. Also, I don't care for some of the report changes, but overall, it's a great package.

Overall: I've been using ShopKeep for three years and can say I'm very satisfied the POS system. Getting in touch with customer service is very easy and quick. They're courteous, knowledgeable and very helpful. You don't have to worry about the automated service asking you to press multiple keys to possibly speak to a human being. Just enter a few keys and you're on your way to speak to a human being.

Cons: Our card reader needs frequent restarting and synching.

Overall: We initially had another POS and I had to switch because some features were missing. I asked around our cheese community and ShopKeep came up as an ideal for our particular industry. It works like a dream for us. Well, I might like a new card reader but I know the folks at ShopKeep are working on better equipment for that I'm told. It isn't a problem that gets in the way and I would recommend ShopKeep to any other retailer/restaurant that is similar to ours. It really is a super user-friendly, support accessible POS system. A biz in our space uses Square and while it's nice enough, it really doesn't hold up to how nice ShopKeep is for us. They keep improving. When we opened a little over a year ago there was a report that wasn't available that I thought would inform our projections/planning. Since requesting it (as I'm guessing others have) it is now a particular report feature we can access. Thanks, ShopKeep -- for all the glitches that can happen in day to day biz, my POS is one I don't really have to worry about.

Recommendations to other buyers: For our business, it provides a way to make sales but also provides much helpful information about history, records, employee timesheets, inventory etc... lots here if you want to engage it. And, if you want to keep it simple, you can do that too.

We've used it for over a year and it's easy to use and teach others how to use it.

Overall: We installed it on our iPad and after taking a bit of time to learn how best to use it, it's been easy to use. Plus when we need assistance, it's a quick phone call away. But we haven't needed much assistance, really. The only criticism I have is that I can't make notes on items or transactions - sometimes when you're handling a transaction it's nice to be able to add something to clarify the purchase. But otherwise, it works well and as advertised.

Pros: The ease of use and knowing where I stand with my business numbers.

Cons: It is so compact that if I'm not standing by my check out, new people don't know where it is.

Overall: I had no idea how to buy a POS system. I was more afraid of this purchase than any other in my new start-up business. I have been open for over a year and a half now, this system has never failed me. I had a couple of issues with my credit card machine, one of them on my Grand Opening day! I called ShopKeep, they had me up and running in less than 3 minutes. I have always been taken care of with quick friendly service. I live in Michigan. I am a real person and I use ShopKeep.
I have the smallest store of anyone I know and this system is not overkilled for me. I feel I have a support system that puts me in control and gives me the presentation that I want for my customers. I am very confident knowing more about my business. ShopKeep has given me the edge I needed.

Recommendations to other buyers: I think it would great if you could change inventory from the item page without needing to switch to a different screen. OR have a back button so that you can stay with the item until your done working with it.

Pros: ease of use

Cons: I wish there were more button colors on the ipad screen to choose from.

Overall: We use ShopKeep for our high school spirit store. It is so easy to keep track of inventory. We love the iPad button design. If you want to move something to another screen, it's a snap. The fact that we can use the card reader to take payments has increased our sales exponentially and the kids say it's super simple to learn how to use.

Overall: We have been using ShopKeep at the Belize Chocolate Company Chocolate Boutique for nearly 2 years and have found it a game changer
As a small business, it was every affordable to switch from a regular till to this POS system. When I am not in the shop I can see how the day is going, the factory can view it online so product levels can be monitored and production changed throughout the day if needed.
Customer support is always available and since we have been using the software there have been many great upgrades.

Pros: User friendly

Cons: Took so long for the Android app to get released, I think currently at v1.0

Overall: I shopped around for a POS system quite a bit before deciding on Shopkeep and I've had no regrets. No long contact, choose my own card processor and truly intuitive for my employees. Inventory management is integrated, and recently I've started using the employee time recording... I wish I'd started using that a long time ago! Support has always been prompt and the support staff is very friendly. I also love the new free Android app, I can track what's going on when I'm away. Also very good reporting on the back end. Overall a great app and I'd choose Shopkeep again if I were just starting out.

Pros: Front end is user-friendly, easy to train. Workstation setup very simple - easy to buy what you need from the website.

Cons: Reports....not so great....Hard to extrapolate data in a readable format.

Overall: Easy to set up, easy to use. Reporting functions could be better, but from what I understand, improvements are in the works.

Pros: Ease of setup and use, the fact that I can work in the Back Office at home

Cons: I wish the item list was easier to navigate, I'd like to be able to go back one screen rather than back to the item list each time.

Overall: The Shopkeep system was easy to set up, and the free help sessions were valuable in getting started. It's pretty intuitive, and the few times I've needed assistance I was able to call and get help quickly. There are a few features that I believe need improvement, such as entering new items in inventory. (I'd like to be able to go back to my previous screen rather than back to the item list after each update) All in all, I've been pleased with the ease of use and features.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be aware that if you plan to have e-commerce, this is not yet compatible. But I am hoping by the time I am ready to add e-commerce to my business Shopkeep will also be ready.
