Pros I have found their customer support team especially outstanding - they have acted on my case promptly, and I have managed to gather testing results in almost no time after their support.I also found their AI analysis tool useful which optimised our workflow massively. It allows smaller UX teams to validate and iterate quickly without impacting other teams and been seen as an obstacle to development. Userbrain really has made an impact in my process and I look forward to more development of the platform. Pros The cost of this software and the on-demand nature attracted me to this service. So far I am impressed, Userbrain has become an essential tool for my UX process. Compared to other options (usertesting.com and trymyui) it's incredible value for quickly validating User Interfaces and gathering feedback. They offer great support as well, and if the service is not meeting my needs it's on the roadmap or has a workaround. Cons Lack of some audience targeting tools such as employment status or targeting students for user-tests and including more countries in a panel of testers. They also currently only offer an iphone app which limits tests to apple users on mobile. I believe all of these issues are on the development roadmap. Review Source MS Matthew S. Having users explore and give their honest feedback during this helps us to catch flaws in our user experience and user journeys which is a great benefit to our clients. This is especially valuable for early stage businesses trying to better understand their target audience. Cons I heard feedback from folks I shared links for testing with that the sign up process wasn't super simple. Also, I would have enjoyed the tool more if I could narrow down on my target audience profile more. Now that we are a B2B company, I can't keep using this tool, but would have loved to been able to. The quality of the videos are great. Customers are able to easily download the chrome extension. Cons You have to go into each session individually to get the results, it would be nice to have a dashboard. Some participants have a hard time finding the chrome extension to get their tasks. It would be great if there was like an onboarding for participants that just downloaded the chrome extension so that I don't have to do that in my prototype. VOC Manager Utilities Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Best option for our small company" November 22, 2021 5.0 We have been able to validate that our user experience is good - where we thought certain things were going to be disliked by customers, or make changes to enhance the customer experience. We also are able to take the data and audio clips from the tests and use them to present to leadership. Pros It was very easy to get started with Userbrain. It is inexpensive compared to other sites. You are able to bring your own testers or use testers from the Userbrain panel. Testers can also use their smartphone, tablet or laptop. Cons The size of their user base is small compared to other testing sites, but in our experience this has never created an issue. We've always gotten testers when we need them. Also, this does not allow you to screen for specific users (you can only select age, gender, and country). The recordings do not come with written transcripts, which would have been helpful. Reason for choosing Userbrain For what we needed, this was the simplest to use, it performed what we needed it to do, and it was less expensive than the other products. Pros Incredibly easy to set up a usability test with remote users recruited by UB. Great video review tool made it super fast tp get relevant results for the variety of features and UI I was testing. Cons I wanted to send my test out to a few self-recruited users, and this was a FAIL unfortunately. It was not obvious to me that my users would need to do a significant amount of setup (download plugin, etc) and have a test computer meeting minimum requirements. The testers are cheap, and you pound through them. This is fine if you're testing an ad or a home page design or a facebook post, but it's useless if you want the users to do something hard. Userbrain, for a fixed price, gives you 10-15 minutes of a user's time, for them to complete a task. The user doesn't feel rushed, and so I get a high quality of feedback. I have recommended Userbrain to several of my SaaS-startup founding friends. I will continue to recommend Userbrain. Pros It's so simple: Organize a test, come up with some good questions, and then run the test. When the test is done, you download a video that you can share with your team for analysis. No extra cruft like annotations. Just plain and simple. Cons We want a certain kind of user — people who have worked in a capacity where they do time sheets, and there is no filtering system. That said, we just make it a step of our test: "To proceed, you must have been a time sheet user in the past" and most of the time, users opt out. It would just be nice to have that filter as a formal step. Reason for choosing Userbrain UserBrain was recommended by people at Product Hunt, and that actually set them apart from the competition. Once we did, the unmoderated testing was work to get everything setup and in return, not a lot of usable feedback. Pros The guidance of the question ideas and tips. I can use these skills outside of this product too. Cons The testers. While it is nice to have people who do not have the understanding of our products, the people who test are not really insightful when they elaborate on every little item on the site. I have had people click outside of the user test links and end up not being able to get where they are needed. It became work with not a lot of quality feedback. It works best when avoiding difficult user tasks so stick to more discovery work. As the complexity is increased I find segmentation too limiting and user pool not that great. But overall I would recommend Userbrain as part of a wider UX tool kit Pros It's very inexpensive when needing user input at a low cost. It's easy to set up and schedule. We have had some questionable testers but Userbrain has been excellent at refunding the credit allowing us to rerun the test quickly Cons User segments are limited and the tester quality isn't the best on this platform with a number of what I would call "professional testers" who simply read back the page to you which isn't helpful. However I guess you get what you pay for and we simply remove this session from our results. Also the method of how Userbrain presents the tasks on the screen can confuse users and often wastes time as they get mixed up. We have tried to be explicitly clear on instructions but still get these issues. It would be better if more like User Testing with very clear step by step full width screens for each task. Anyone used to doing user testing can pick this service up easily. An easy-to-use testing service such as Userbrain, with a good pool of testers is vital during a time when face-to-face testing is all but impossible. Pros If you're used to creating usability tests, you can get started with Userbrain in no time. The markdown editor lets you set up tests very quickly. Tests were simple to segment and deploy and were completed quickly. The price was very reasonable and the ability to purchase credits meant I spent only what I needed. I particularly appreciated the single free credit as it allowed me to validate my test before it was deployed at no extra cost, Cons Audience segmentation was pretty basic. Testers can only be segmented by a few, broad categories. After querying this, the team quickly got back to me to say they were working on offering greater segmentation. The ability to create and export clips is probably the biggest drawback to the software, as it means extra work to manually edit the video in another piece of software. Review Source WH Wilfried H. Often, you do it once and then never again. Userbrain helped us to run user tests continously on our website on a weekly basis. Whenever we made changes to the website, we were sure that they get testet with the next round of tests. The tests uncovered many hurdles that we completely overlooked or were not able to see. The videos helped us not only to improve the usability but also to understand how actual customers were using the website to come up with new improvements to eventually increase conversions and product understanding. Cons It would be great to have some background on the tester to better understand their behaviour. It doesn't take long to create studies, and more importantly, gives quick responses Cons The preview would be good if it gave a full, live preview rather than the 'half-preview' it does. It would be great if it was available in different languages/countries, and also if some basic recruitment could be added to participants- e.g. if I specify all studies should be conducted with car owners, can UserBrain only send it to those relevant participants?
