Automating PTO tracking has improved our HR a great deal and eliminated the horrible task of manual tracking from my desk and from my mind. Pros Reasonable price, easy for employees to use, works consistently, solid integrations. It works better for us than higher priced alternatives. Cons PTO policy setup is a bit funky in the user interface and difficult to do, but they can help with that if you ask. Schedule setup is also strange, but my org is nearly all salary anyway. After evaluating several tools, Calamari proved to be much better, although there is still room for improvement. Pros It allows me to manage vacations and paid or unpaid leave in a single portal. Cons It did not allow me to block certain dates to prevent employees from requesting vacation during peak work periods, but it did allow them to request sick leave, which is not something that can be controlled. Pros The fact that it is available as a Web app, Mobile App and can be integrated with MS Teams, etc. Cons The calendar should be improved across all platforms to give a first-glance distinction of approved vs pending approval requests, partial vs full day leave, clear and very visible identification of company holidays without the need to hover over the days to figure it out. My organization couldn’t afford their competitors, so Calamari met a need. My life is far simplified and my employees are happier thanks to Calamari. Pros The quality of Calamari is great, while being far less expensive than its competitors. My employees have had little trouble getting set up. Their customer service is also HIGHLY responsive and helpful. Cons The UI is not perfect. For time off tracking it is sufficient, but for time tracking it is tricky to figure out. I only have one employee who even might have used it, so we opted not to pay for that feature.
