Pros: We really did not like anything about the solftware. It was very difficlut to operate and there are many issues that NCR is not fixing. The multiple steps to complete a customer transaction is too long. They also do not have enough employees where I have wasted large amount of time waiting for their reps.

Cons: When we call NCR as the merchant to assist on failures of the software program, they do not respond immediately. Their phone system states, if you want to wait for the next avaiable representative press #2 on the phone. This message is repeated almost every 10 seconds. This is very difficult and discouraging.... Of course I want to wait for a representative... Do I have a choice????

Overall: They are an awful company. Their support system is a disaster. I don't know how many times I called NCR Silver for support and get a recording "hello we are experiencing an extremely high call volume. We will get back to you..." IF they get back to you it's hours later when customers have already left because we could not complete our transaction.

When my system was first set up, it was set up improperly based upon their support set up. After it was up and running it caused many delays where we could not input customers information and finalize the sale. So often, we received an error message "that item already exists and must create a new ticket" We call NCR Silver and was advised to proceed in an incorrect manner where the issues were never resolved. AFTER 3 YEARS OF THIS NONSENSE, It took my representative to resolve the issue after numerous hours on the telephone.

After all this, I asked for a partial credit to my account as they were responsible for the horrible software program. First, a manager would not even talk to me and flat out refused any credit. Then I asked for her manager. He did not even reply back to me.

This company is supposed to be a publicly traded company. Their program is horrible and customer support is equal par. HORRIBLE!!!! Ger professional NCR and the managers need to start getting involved with a customer instead of acting like they are holier than thou.....

Recommendations to other buyers: Get a real software program where customer do not have to lose business.

As with any call center, sometimes reps get busy. That is why our award-winning customer support team also offers text, chat and email support. A text for example can solve simple issues substantially quicker. We also, by far, have the most extensive customer support team out of any cloud POS provider and offer live 24/7 support in addition to free set up, monthly menu maintenance, training and more. It's truly a comprehensive service. As for transaction speeds, the UI in version 4.0 is extremely fast and it vastly streamlined an already quick customer checkout experience. Pros: Transactions, and reporting, are very easy to use. Reporting is excellent.

Cons: There is zero inventory functionality. You can add inventory, but as a retailer I need to be able to track my inventory to monitor when, and what, I need to order. Silver does not offer such a feature. This is a common complaint amongst other retailers that use Silver that I frequent with my personal business.

Overall: POS, tracking of sales, cash reconciliation, and time clock. Would love an inventory feature for retailers.

Comments: Horrible company stay far far away

Pros: The sales staff is very well trained at making their system & staff seem competent. While the reality is you are basically on your own with a mob of indifferent outsourced support reps who could care less about their jobs.

Cons: Reports are broken, support is unavailable 99% of the time, estimated call back times for messages from our experience were 3-7 days for a standard issue, their staff asks you for extensive notes when creating issue tickets yet somehow other support members will call back with no idea what the problem is beyond the basic description. No chain of command so when a lazy support rep hangs up on you after being on hold for 30 min you cant even submit a complaint.

Pros: Pretty easy to use and great back office helps keep up with inventory and sales.

Cons: System crashes sometimes and usually when we are busy so we have to try to figure out how to fix it ourselves and sometimes call customer service but hold for long time before ever getting help.. still have issues that need to be corrected with Quantum unit.

Overall: Not bad. Would love to have someone come out and fix the issues we are having.

Pros: Very intuitive to use and everything is cloud based.

Cons: The overall system hasn't evolved in 2+ years since we started using it. It's not compatible with Shopify nor is it friendly to any outside developers. There is not a transfer function between stores and the overall reporting is just basic.

Overall: Customer service has gotten worse over the last few years and most reps really don't have solutions to anything that isn't basic.

Pros: Very easy to use. Easy to retain customer contact info.

Cons: We¿ve had quite a few unresolved and recurring issues with our credit card processing.

Overall: It is handy with reachingnour customers and very user friendly for our staff. We have a really hard time with our retail product growing and needing a barcode scanner but we don¿t want to pay NCR more money when we have other issues with them that are not being resolved. It is also expensive. Some other businesses like ours use square and have no issues and have no monthly cost for the service, just merchant fees, which we also have in addition to our fees with NCR.

Pros: Straight forward use. Reliable log in...

Cons: We still have difficult time changing prices, etc in bulk. Since it takes too long to reflash when changing prices individually, we would've like to have the excel upload changes.. I know the feature is there but it seems like it only works some times....

Need better more detailed sales/inventory-performance reports.

Pros: It¿s very user friendly, iPads are portable, easy to categorize items, ease of customer payment.

Cons: Customer database. It isn¿t easy to send emails to customers with the marketing tool. There is no course break. When I enter multiple courses the system does not have a button for a line break. For example if there is a soup on course one and a soup for course two the soups show up as two soups for the same course. Sometimes the system has a delay with payment and when the ticket is entered.

Overall: We had a terrible experience setting up the system. It¿s over the phone instead of having someone come out to use to help set it up. Since we¿ve had it up and running I have been pleased with what the system can do

Comments: I don¿t like that they say 24 hour customer service and live chat. I cannot tell you how many times they don¿t answer the text help line they brag about, NOR do they offer 24 hour Live Chat. Further, the system doesn¿t even do things like calculate over time. And everytime I call for help I don¿t always get anyone who knows how to actually help. I will say also if you aren¿t too experienced with computers they talk down to you and get over the phone visibly irritated with you. I would not recommend this system just yet for what they charge per month

Pros: Not big upfront costs like if you have a hard wired system.

Cons: There's a lot you cannot do VS a hard wired system and the customer service is lacking along with their tech knowledge on how to help you

Pros: 24/7 support. Email, text, online chat assistance.

Cons: The tech support is often incompetent and sometimes rude. Recently, It took 45 minutes for someone to tell me that the bar code at the bottom of the receipt cannot be removed.

Overall: There are improvements every year, but there are still issues that need to be resolved.

Pros: The system is pretty east to use. I figured it out by myself with little help from NCR.

Cons: The overall experience with customer service is the problem. We actually switched and we are still paying for our NCR program. It is solely because of the service. I guess you guys would rather have reviews like this than to make it right. When it comes to a point that a small business like ours would rather pay and not use your product I think it is time to look at yourselves.

Overall: Product is Ok. Sometimes takes hours to get someone on the phone to resolve an issue

Pros: I like the simplicity of the system. Using an iPad is convenient and doesn't take up much room on our counter and it's portable. I also like the option of paying on a month to month basis, not being tied to a long contract.

Cons: The reporting, especially for the sales related inventory portion, is not as in-depth as I'd like. I would like to be able to pull a report of the items sold by vendor name as well as be able to look at a specific item and know it's detailed sales history.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you have a good idea of what kinds of things you're looking for in a system- reporting features, special features (i.e. do you want to use layaway, do you sell items on consignment). Know how much you're able to spend on equipment, definitely use the trial feature, and be realistic about whether you think it will work for your specific business.

Pros: I like that i can access the back office anywhere via internet.

Cons: It was hard to set up special/ happy hour prices to be automatic on specific days and times, so we just do it manually.

Comments: I love everything about NCR Silver except more features such as layaway or special orders would be nice. In today's economy customers don't always have the immediate funds to purchase higher end items and without a layaway feature it's very hard to meet their needs.

Pros: I love the ease of stocking in new merchandise. It is the easiest system I have ever used when it comes to that.

Cons: The lack of layaway or house account options.

Recommendations to other buyers: For a new business, if you are selling products directly off your shelf, you won't find a better system. It makes keeping up with inventory a breeze. The assistance it offers for scheduling and payroll is wonderful.

Comments: The system is not what I understood it to be when the salesperson came and brought the demo. For one, she told me repeatedly that the demo didn't have the feature, but my system would be able to perform the functions I needed. It does not. The scanner has no screen and can only receive or count inventory while you have the iPad (your register) with you. Which means my pallets of orders have to wait for after hours to be received. That is, when the system will allow me to receive at all. The newest problem is that scanning an item crashes the app. I have been waiting for 3 hours now to have someone call me back because customer service only knows how to tell you to restart your iPad. If that doesn't work, you're out of luck. My last issue, 2 days ago, took over 24 hours to get a simple answer. My bank recommended this system for my retail business. I regret every moment since I agreed to try it.

Pros: It is easy to use...when it is working. The price point was appealing, but you get what you pay for.

Cons: Customer service does not know how to help and escalating to a supervisor takes hours and even days.

Comments: Worst customer service I have ever had. Completely ignore me and don't solve the problem. I had to follow up with emails asking them where we were at with fixing the issue and no response. No initiative to fix the problem. No apology for setting up the loyalty program wrong and creating a mess. You will spend hours setting up and fixing all the mistakes these ppl make.

Pros: I like the Idea and the cost of the loyalty program, but other than that the service and supports is a joke

Cons: The customer service is a joke at best. Do not use NCR. I will be looking elsewhere in the future. Save yourself some time.

Comments: There are way too many glitches that make us waste so much time every time. A lot of times the ticket numbers go missing. Not even shown in the back office. Contacting the customer support, they don't have an attitude, neither do they have a clue or solution to the problem. They say no one else is having THAT problem, but I doubt it.

Pros: Easy to use. Can get a good datum in the back office.

Cons: Poor customer support. Poor engineering.

Recommendations to other buyers: Use it if you have a lot of time to waste on contacting them to resolve issues.

Pros: POS system seemed easy to use and get the hang of. Adding inventory was simple and creating the main POS screen was a quick process.

Cons: Lied about e-commerce capability, no account services or layaway. When asked to for reduced payout of contract they will not budge and are just looking to get people in a contract and get paid. Even after buying additional items as an additional wasted expense that cannot be returned.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you not only ask to make sure the system is capable of what you want. Go through everything in trials before buying into the cheaper year term contract. My suggestion is pay the little extra to be able to cancel at any time because most likely you will.

Comments: When Apple does an OSX update, this system practically shuts down. The bluetoothing from ipad to printer or drawer doesn't sync any longer. When I called (many times ) NCR they told me it was an Apple issue and they couldn't help me. I don't pay Apple I pay NCR and it is their problem to figure out. I've had so many issues with NCR over a less than 2 year span. That is why I'm on this site looking for another system.

Comments: This is extremely in depth and has a plethora of options, analysis, and tools at your disposal. Being not the most learned when it comes to cloud, their customer support helped me out greatly along the way. Besides, loading up all of my items, which Support helped with, everything else was cake.

Comments: NCR invented the cash register and delivers 130 years of expertise in point of sale with this iPAD cloud POS solution, and it even works when wireless goes down. You can call them anytime 365 days a year, 24/7 and get a live US-based person to help with any issues!!
