The software itself is outstanding: it’s intuitive, visually engaging, and makes organizing and sharing information a breeze. I found it especially useful for academic work and collaborative projects, thanks to its clean interface and robust sharing features. However, my attempt to upgrade from Edu Personal to Edu Pro has been a source of ongoing frustration. Since October 20th, I’ve been unable to complete the upgrade due to a university email verification error—despite this same email being accepted when I first signed up. The support team’s responses have been slow and ineffective, repeatedly asking for screen recordings and technical details without addressing the root cause. Suggestions to try non-Edu plans or use incognito mode were irrelevant to my specific issue. As of October 28th, the problem remains unresolved. This has not only wasted my time but also disrupted my workflow and productivity. For a tool designed to enhance productivity, such a prolonged and unresolved support issue is unacceptable. Pros Intuitive interface:easy to navigate and visually appealing, making mind mapping accessible for all users. Excellent for structuring complex information in a clear, visual format. Cons Poor customer support: support experience described as "suffering" due to lack of effective help. Support requests for screen recordings and developer console info did not resolve the issue. No timely resolution:lack of escalation or clear timeline, directly impacting productivity. Pros The website has never been down, its fairly quick and easy to get ideas from yourhead down onto a mindmap. Cons Compared to things like X mind they dont have a great choice of map layouts eg timeline, fishbone. Also they have a separate task management tool called Meistertask which they try to get you to use but it seems overly complicated having Mindmeister for mindmaps and Meistertask for task management. Some other compaines just have 1 product that does mapping and task management. Cons I had a really disappointing experience with Mind Meister and hope this review saves others from wasting their time and money. Here are the undisputed facts of my interaction with Mind Meister – •My company has been a customer of Mind Meister since March 2021 and a spent $2,227 during that period •On April 19, 2024 at 5:00pm I received an email saying they charged $419 for a subscription renewal for 4 users and 6 month term •At 5:01pm I received another email offering savings if I subscribed for a year instead of 6 months •At 6:08pm I shared that our team hasn’t used Mind Meister at all other than me and I requested a refund for the 3 other licenses and said I was happy to renew my single license for a year •Their response “I'm sorry to say that I cannot issue a refund in this case. As outlined at the time of purchase, selecting a billing period when purchasing a license causes your plan to renew automatically by default” •I said that I have been a loyal customer and thought they issued notifications BEFORE a subscription renews like most companies since it is the law in most states. •Their response “I am sorry that you feel this way, but we notify our users about the automatic license renewal not only at the time of purchase but also in our terms & conditions and email invoices.” You can decide if you want to work with a company that retains their loyal, multi-year customers by referencing ‘fine print’ in terms & conditions that no one can keep up with when they have over 30 different vendors and software providers. It was excellent for brainstorming an enormous thesis project and for designing extensive action research, but the new developments are just extremely disappointing. Pros This app's functionality and user interfact is second to none. The speed with which you can brainstorm is excellent. Cons I have been stuck in a loop of not being able to connect to my account, getting extremely slow and convoluted customer service, reestablishing access, then losing it again for the last 5 months. I also seriously dislike the new updates. When I started using this service (in grad school), it was absolutely exceptional. I loved being able to make a mind map quickly, then turn it into a presentation on the spot, adjusting the order of the cells as "slides" in the presentation... it was SO useful. Now, they got away from that for some reason. Reasons for choosing MindMeister I was so impressed by the initial intuitive UI. It was exactly what I was looking for. The huge benefit it is already has all the tabs for different options (eg "what could we improve" and "what could we learn") so that we're collecting both positive and negative feedback. This is especially useful because the biggest difficulty with project overviews is when they are either entirely negative or entirely positive. Cons I would like to have the opportunity to export to a database, which I understand is technically possible with a paid account, but it seemed like a lot of clicks to get there.
