Here's why: too much reading for students and no instructional videos, The reading program has the most boring and old-fashioned stories about ancient times that my students cannot even relate to and they hate reading them. Pros The HELP section is very useful for learning to use the program, and their customer service department is pretty good at responding to questions. Cons So many things! Let's start with the fact that the mastery tests are 10 times harder than the practice questions. Many of the mastery questions are worded so confusingly or just try to trick students into picking a wrong answer. Also, there is too much reading and not enough interactivity in the lessons. My middle and high school students WILL not read through 30 pages of text. Plus in math, a video would be SO much more helpful than 10 pages of text. This is one of the worst online learning platforms I have ever used. I wish I could just go back to Khan Academy! It's free, kids like it and they learn more, faster. It simulates the classroom and makes my students feel comfortable in an environment they are not used to or familiar with. Cons Logging in is somewhat cumbersome. It’s been a great resource during this time of distance learning and I am hoping to continue using it when we go back to face to face instruction. Cons There are so many options when assigning things it was a little difficult to get the hang of it at first. That me one specifically used was called Plato. It’s a Learning Management System with content already built into it. On the administrative side, all you have to do is identify your Lerner's customize the training for them, simply pull-up from content available to you. Unlike other LMSs that require you using their content authoring tool, Plate within Edmentum does all the work for you so you can focus on needs assessment and evaluation. There is a good messenger built that allows you to communicate with your learners. The content that is readily available to you as an administrator doesn’t really go passed higher school level so this system is great for adults who have specific needs and need them addressed. I used it a lot and ran a program based on It and it was very successful. Cons Little glitches here and there and content doesn’t get updated as fast I would like.
