PowerPoint achieves that goal with its features in using the right text font, text size, text color including the animation/sound effects as you sequence it thru your slides. Pros PowerPoint is easy to use and creates impact when delivering your message to your audience. You can program/animate not just the sequence of the slides but also the text/images you place on each of the slide. Sound effects may emphasize the content you want to convey as you present the slides. Cons With lots of template you could choose from, a designer of presentation might be overwhelmed of what to use. We have been able to share content and have weekly meetings to discussion operations. This has allowed everyone to remain on the same page. This is especially useful when distributing information to a corporation. Pros I like the ease of using it. I enjoy all of the features available. I especially like the new options to assist with each slide. Now, Powerpoint can adjust the content of each slide for you and also provides several themes to choose from on each slide. Cons I do wish there was a screen capture option in Powerpoint to prevent me from swapping between programs in order to capture information that I want to include in slides. So nice to customize and make incredible themes with. If you work really hard you can get them to link to other slide decks through a system of complicated set up tasks which can be very nice. Upgrades take a long time to roll out, but when they do they are very well thought out and most glitches are very much taken care of. Cons It's not free. It's not Google slides... it is not very intuitive to use. It has amazing features but it's really not geared towards the every day user. They are clunky! If you ever have to share large slide decks, they are absolutely massive!! This is irritating, where as Google slides, you can just share a link. There is no live collaboration with team members. Pros It was easy to use and you can google to help with figure out how to do things outside of basic. Cons I think for future Microsoft could enhance the program to include functionality that would allow you to add content to a page and the program would automatically create a slide page based on the slide topic. When creating a proposal there are basic fundamentals each company wants to see. If the program made it easier for a user and company I think it would be a win win. Have already created pages based on what you are doing, like a proposal or project summary. Then allow you to select the automated slide pages and sort. Why? Because it's easy and everyone uses it. I can share my presentations with others without having to show them how to do anything. Powerpoint is also one of those few Microsoft products that keeps getting better. It has always maintained its useful core features, but has consistently added slick improvements that make the experience even better. I love the suggested design elements- they have consistently made for better visual presentation of my information. Cons Compatibility can sometimes be an issue. You never know what version of Powerpoint people have installed. Microsoft 360 has improved this issue a great deal by allowing sharing directly from the cloud. PowerPoint has never failed me. I am able to embed videos, add transitions when I change my slides, and customize the overall appearance. Pros The greatest benefit to PowerPoint is the number of users that are familiar with the program. Regardless of what department I am collaborating with on campus, the conversation around PowerPoint and its functions seem to be universal. I appreciate the fact that there are the basic templates that are available when you load the program and there are also templates you can find online that you can upload as well. Since I tend to make presentations around our rec center and the programs and services we offer, it is very beneficial to be able to customize the master template and make the theme our school colors and add our logo to the slides. Cons The only setback to PowerPoint is that if you have a presentation that is collaborative, only one of you can open the file and make adjustments at a time. PowerPoint also does a great job of visualizing data, especially if you are working with data sets from a sister software like Excel. Cons PowerPoint isn't the most creative with styling and I found it difficult to customize my decks to exactly what I wanted. It allows you to design the slide to your preference or it is equipped with features that make designing the slide easy. Powerpoint as a feature called animations and they are really cool and allow your presentation to flow. Upon choosing any of these animations whether to Float In, Fly-In or Appear; when your presentation is ongoing it is very easy to transition. It is also easy to add a new slide. Cons Even though the software is a rather useful software the updates do not really bring any great change. The smart art feature is not easy to edit. The con that annoys me the most is when creating a graph. I should be able to create a graph without the use of excel. Playing with different colors, fonts, layouts, backgrounds and slideshows is interesting until you get what you want. I have never thought of any other software for presentation. Although it is a paid for product,the cost is very much affordable and one gets value for their money. This may seem unorthodox but it works like a charm and is way easier than Word or Publisher. We also use it to display lyrics for songs during the worship service each Sunday. The presenter view has made it possible to use PPT instead of MediaShout or ProPresenter. It’s not perfect but it works for us. I wish there was a way to isolate certain slides and have them loop independently of the others within a presentation instead of having to create a separate presentation that loops. Overall it is saving me from spending $600 on ProPresenter so it’s worth it. Pros The ease of placing things where I want them and still having the functionality of Word Cons There’s no quick access command for small caps.
