Initially, in my academic life and now in my professional life. SurveyCTO has been of immense help in my work. Being a manager of Operations, I have to take constant feedback from my clients and customers regarding risk. To explain the importance of risk I have to first ask them questions regarding Risk Management in an organization. This is when SurveyCTO comes into help. I use this software in designing surveys and the results in turn helps me in determining the level of risk my client is prone to. A must have software. Pros FREE! SurveyCTO is completely free to use. The website is extremely user friendly and is easy to understand even for first-timers. I have designed hundreds of surveys just like this which has made my career saving me a lot of time and resources. SurveyCTO itself calculates the results and analyses the findings. One thing I like the most about this software is the ability to first make surveys and then we can easily, by a link, forward it to our desired respondents via an email or a message. Cons The price is a bit expensive when we switch our subscription to PRO or the upgraded version. This surely makes a lot of people to change their survey making software Review Source IA Isaac A. The data preload feature alone was able to reduce to our post-survey data cleaning and analysis work by more than 60%. The very simple layout of the loading page also helps reduce time delays from navigation difficulties. I have enjoyed using SurveyCTO on all our recent survey activities. Pros My favorite thing about SurveyCTO is how intelligent the software is. The kinds of editing and form design mishaps that would lead to form loading errors in other programs are adequately handled in SurveyCTO without affecting workflow. I also like that the newer versions have easy integration with associated software that can be accessed in just a few short steps. Cons My least favorite aspect of SurveyCTO is that it does not have an automated variable-generation feature that would intuitively suggest names based on key words from questions. That would have been an excellent addition. It has been of great help in our work. As a researcher, we are always in constant need of data - quality data-, and I think SurveyCTO helps us get just that! Pros SurveyCTO is easy to use, it does not require very intense training. The features I love the most include the skip logic feature and question branching. Oftimes, our surveys tend to be relatively long, so skip logic helps us save the respondent's time and also minimize the tiredness that comes with filling surveys. Cons Although SurveyCTO is great software, the major downside is the pricing. The subscription fee is on the high side. Before using SuveryCTO, we were conducting paper and text-messaging based surveys and had no way of ensuring security of our clients' data. However, after switching, not only have our surveys become more secure, but also better quality and more efficient. Lastly, it's like every time we are in the process of launching a new survey, we discover new features we didn't know of before that would make our work much easier. Pros SurveyCTO's multiple layers of data encryption and security was the most assuring part of using this software. Because of the highly sensitive nature of the data we collect in our health and client surveys, the advanced SurveyCTO data protection and security features to protect us from loss or unauthorized access in every stage of the process was the single most important consideration. With these, we conduct our surveys without any fear at all. Cons The pricing is a bit high. And for the surveys that needed us to preload client data, the software delays a bit when being loaded. I think the load times could be slightly improved if there were filtering questions a user could use if the form might not require use of entire load of preloaded data. From managing it for our research surveys, I have personally also played around with it for personal projects like a cooking assistance app, and a local date matching service. And the free trial services are also quite comprehensive. Pros Survey CTO even though primarily a data collection tool, can be so easily modified to deliver a wide range of services for users including marketing and produce trading. And the interface layout is user friendly enough for easy adaptation to competently handle a multiple needs. Cons The debugging and troubleshooting can be very frustrating when it comes to identifying the particular sources or causes for why a particular function is not being executed correctly. Other tools handle troubleshooting much much better than SurveyCTO. Reason for choosing SurveyCTO They had more readily accessible resources online to help with our staff training and skills development. Overseeing our entire field operations used to be very overwhelming. But with SurveyCTO's many features for monitoring interview interactions such as random audio recording, I haven't had to spend so much time making sure my teams were doing the right thing per interaction. SurveyCTO's has made my time management much easier. Pros My favorite feature about CTO is how easy it is to incorporate videos and other forms of multimedia into the questionnaire flow. Prior to choosing CTO, other software we tested would have videos freezing during play, requiring us to exit to play them externally from the device gallery before returning to proceed with interviews. CTO made it 1000% better. Cons The generic versions downloadable from the playstore have always been awful. I have never really understood how the stock program can be so deficient compared to the customized one. With the help of my boss who was much better at picking it up than I was, we were able to prepare and launch our first survey on time and within the trial phase alone. That successful first attempt was what encouraged us to sign on for the paid package. Pros I enjoyed using the video and audio functions of this software. Secondly, I also greatly liked the random auto-record feature when the user is filling out a questionnaire. This monitoring tool saved us a lot of budget spending since we didn't have to conducting random field monitoring visits as often as before simply to confirm that field officers were indeed visiting respondents and conducting the interviews the right way. Cons Learning how to program the software was very difficult for me. I struggled to learn the programming language as it was my first trying out any form of coding. I initially thought it was going to be as easy and direct as simply copying and pasting in questions and answers for the program to do the rest by itself. It took me more time that we could spare to properly learn my way around the program. Reason for choosing SurveyCTO The decision was made at the senior level so I wouldn't know exactly why it was so. But I am guessing it had something to do with budgetary concerns. SurveyCTO seemed like a worthy replacement capable of replacing it but requiring less training or skills to deploy. And it was the right decision at the time.....as we were able to quickly train new staff and deploy within project schedule. Pros They are quite responsive to feedback, and it shows in the frequency of update releases and improvements in overall features and functionality. Cons The complexity of the platform. I believe that quite a significant percentage of the features that require a few lines of 'code' could be simplified into visual or non-code functions. Used the software for: ### "Great tool for field research " July 28, 2015 5.0 I've been using SurveyCTO for a few months. The tool is very useful for us when doing field research. There is a learning curve to build the forms, but once you learn a few tricks, it becomes very easy and intuitive to use. I can quickly build forms. And when I download the forms from the survey, I can automatically get Stata clean-up files created. What a time saver! Above all, the customer service is outstanding. I don't think I've waited more than 10 minutes to get an email reply with a thorough answer to my questions. I've tried using free software based on the same platform, but having the customer service and a few more bells and whistles on SurveyCTO is so well worth the money. It is simple to set up, easy to use, surveyors love it, even though who have little to no experience using electronics, and submission is flawless. There are one or two other sets of software that beat it in specialized niches, but by and large there is nothing else like it in terms of the ease and quality from start to finish.
