### "SQL is a necessary evil for data management"

May 11, 2021

5.0

SQL has always been a solid solution and I would recommend it to anyone with data management needs on a large scale.

Pros

SQL is mysterious to me, as I am not a DB Admin, but I have worked with it for over 15 years in IT and it just works.

Cons

Cost. The cost is insane and licensing changes regularly enough that it becomes frustrating and challenging to stay on top of.

I use it a lot for my connections with movistar telephone. Since all your databases are developed on this platform. And I think it's high level

Pros

fast connections to database, integration with multiple platforms, plus an easy-to-use interface for experts in the field. I like the development of the entity relationship of the database. Competitive in the market

Cons

You can improve a bit more at the interface level by talking about your manager.

Microsoft SQL Server can handle large amounts of data and is scalable to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes. This Server offers high performance and fast data processing, which is essential for businesses that need to process large volumes of data quickly. Microsoft offers extensive support for SQL Server, including regular updates and patches to keep your database secure and up to date.

### "The standard when it comes to databases in the windows environment."

September 23, 2019

5.0

Very positive. It is a well known and fully supported package.

Pros

Industry support. Since MSSQL is the standard SQL on windows server, you pretty much have to use it in that environment.

Cons

Can be a little costly, but thats because the competitive packages are all open source. Licenses can cost a good bit.

Alternatives considered

[MySQL](https://www.capterra.com/p/11482/MySQL/)

Reason for choosing Microsoft SQL Server

The fact that our environment is heavily windows based. Also some of the major software packages we use are already setup to use MSSQL.

After using this SQL server, I can directly see the data in Database.

### "Microsoft SQL Server: the Standard SQL for Industry"

March 14, 2019

5.0

The best choice for databases if you are working on Microsoft or you are a .NET developer.

Pros

SQL Server is one of the greatest choices for databases. It offers stability and robustness, high performance, and a lot of additional features for database development. This is the database server to go if you're a .NET developer, and even if you don't, SQL Server could be a great choice for you. It's great for starters on the area of databases but also a solid choice for more senior developers. Its documentation is great, provided with good tutorials and examples.

Cons

Sometimes the integration with open-source software is difficult or requires a lot of setup.

### "SQL is a good RDBMS solution for a comprehensive cost you can get a medium tool"

July 17, 2018

4.0

A really good alternative with medium cost, efficient and a competitive management tool to perform the most of DBA tasks, including graphical tasks as building mirroring server for replication purposes

Pros

Oracle SQL Server Offers a really good set of features depending of the type of license (standard, Enterprise, etc) I was worked with standard and enterprise, And my overall experience is SQL is a good database engine to cover the most of small and medium enterprise requerinment, it can cover OLTP and ODS databases. SQL Server offers on standard version features such mirroring to replication sites. SQL provides a GUI interfaces called SQL Management Studio, it provides a comprehensive tool to do the most DBA responsabilities.

Cons

When you compare with other database engines like Oracle, then SQL doesn't look robust and the performance is a kind of limited. No native perfomance (real time and graphic) tools came with the product.

### "Database administration 101"

February 28, 2021

5.0

Very good - SQL Server have so far been a joy to work with. Along with T-SQL support and Azure integration, we're very happy with its performance and environment, including cool data visualization.

Pros

Reliability and accesibility is crucial for performing all the DB-related tasks that I consider one of the most important in my business. Microsoft SQL Server is all that, plus - we have never stumbled upon any performance hiccups in the process.

Cons

Just like with every data platform environment, it takes a while to get to know the MS SQL Server. Entry point time we've managed to achieve is acceptable, but we feel that the licencing process could be easier to understand.

### "A Must for Databases"

January 16, 2019

5.0

Pros

I use SQL server in many of the custom web applications that I design and build. The best thing I enjoy about MS SQL is that is works well with other Microsoft products. There is a large learning curve when it comes to being able to know how to create a database for example, but once you learn the basics, its pretty easy. I combine my databases with php based Laravel, a MVC model application to create wonderul front end web applicaitons.

Cons

I'm not a big fan of all the verisons and price ranges that the software has to offer. I wish Microsoft would simply have a couple of tiers of SQL rather than 15 different kinds that you can purchase. It boils down to how scalable you need and I get that, the operations from the admin side of things is pretty much the same, space and speed limits are the main thing.
