Lightweight MS Project analog." January 19, 2022 5.0 I use GantPro as a Project Manager and as a teacher of Project Management. As a PM I use GanttPro first of all as a tool for schedule and budget planning. Also, for creating baselines and re-baselines and progress-tracking in accordance with them. There is a very cool feature related to creating public URLs, both dynamic and snapshots, to share the status with stakeholders without adding them. Very clear and convenient work with resources, real and virtual. The possibility to define personal resource calendars along with the whole project calendar makes planning more accurate from the resource workload perspective. As a teacher, I use GanttPros as an example of software for schedule and budget planning and work with the critical path. Due to easy onboarding and clear interface, this activity takes 3 times less time than the same task with MS Project. Pros Convenient UX and nice UI. Easy user on-boarding. Integrations. Also I liked the function where I could make new fields easily. In that sense, I can easily comment and follow my ongoing tasks. I am very positive that any one who tries this software during trial period will turn into a fan of GanttPRO during one's term. It being online helps too in that you can access it from any computer. Pros The ease of use is the key to this software. I built a gantt chart without prior knowledge of this program and it is intuitive. Changing time frames is as easy as a click and a drag. Tasks can be a multitude of colors. Being a designer I like the fact that the resulting gantt chart can be a beautiful document. More customizable features would be great to that effect! Cons Copying one task to make another is still as little cumbersome in that it does not automatically place it where you intend. It has a very nice interface and has many tools that solve any need that may arise. Honestly, I have not had the opportunity to test the integration with other systems but from reading the opinion of other people it seems that this is also very easy to do and there should be no problems with the most popular platforms for project management. You can do a lot of things with it and works perfect when managing different projects but want to be on top of everything. It's worth spending money on it, I've tried other programmes like Ganttpro but haven't had the same experience since they're not as easy to learn and has not had that many options as Ganttpro does. Its also very easy to invite people in your project and adapt/add/delete tasks in the timeline if needed. Overall I think this software gives a good chance to everyone that wants to plan or manage a project to learn to do it fast and effective. I would recommend it to everyone! January 4, 2022 5.0 I had a requirements analysis project that I was working on with my small group of friends and we needed to create a graphical representation of the plan that we had. I was looking for Gantt chart applications for a day or so before I found GanttPro and I was very happy that not only was the application very easy to use for beginners, but it also had a free version that allowed every member of my team (four of us in total) to both view the tasks and work efficiently on our respective tasks, adding changes to the chart as we proceeded. GanttPro is an instrumental tool in creating Gantt charts and I will wholeheartedly recommend it to other customers! Pros The product is very easy to use; having not used the product nor any similar product before, I was able to learn how to use the core features/functionality very quickly (within 30-40 minutes). Additionally, the graphical views and color coding the application provides is very useful for any gantt chart. Also, it is really easy and inituitive to map out all the different subprojects and map the dependencies. They have the free trial option as well so I didn't have to put my card information to try it as well. Adding resources, activities, parenting them, timelinening them, budgeting and forecasting are all easy to adjust and review. Cons It lacks a proper portfolio management. We should be able to select multiple projects and create a portfolio for program managers or PMOs. Kanban view has limited column options. It has helped me greatly in finishing my PhD dissertation. I was managing to finish 2 publication articles that would end up in my dissertation manuscript. GanttPro makes it easy to add these 2 sub-projects as dependencies to the overall dissertation project. It also can visualize a comprehensive Gantt chart to show me what stage I'm at, so I know what to be working on and what to expect ahead. Additionally, with the interactive drag-and-drop feature, I can easily manipulate the various deadlines and dependencies as my plan changes. The set of features and interactives makes it a joy to use! Cons Although the website is quite responsive on the Safari browser, it would sometimes cause a bit of slows down if I were to make quick changes in succession.
