Pros: This might make me sound superficial but the first thing I loved about Freshbooks was the interface. The icons, the buttons, the way everything looks is so so appealing to me. And it made me want to use the trial version (I did this a little more than 1 year ago). Using it made me feel like I was getting my financial act together. Which it later did, btw.

The time tracker is the best... time saver for me. It records time and then adds everything together in a way that nothing else really did. It seems so obvious but nothing I was using before helped track my hours this way. This is the thing that used to drive me round the bend when it came time to invoicing clients. I used to delay invoicing (aka "getting paid") because my own system was terrible..and I could not find a better way until finally deciding that maybe I needed to pay for something to help me.

I like the notes section for the time entries. I like how flexible it is to shift recorded time entries around or update the text to better describe what work I actually did.

I also love the support from Freshbooks. They're super responsive and extremely helpful. They do not waste my time with a lot of blather I've experienced in so many other customer service situations (like repeating back to me the question I just proferred). They include screenshots and precise language to answer my questions.

Also: Expenses in FB. I now go out of my way to add in expenses as they come w/o avoiding them.

Cons: I recommended Freshbooks to a friend of mine who started using it right away. Then he had trouble with a really difficult client he'd billed using Freshbooks. This client (I subcontracted with the friend so am aware of what all happened) contested all of my friend's work and refused payment after paying the Freshbooks invoice. And Freshbooks allowed the chargeback to happen. I think other software does not allow this --- for example, my friend now uses Quickbooks as a result.

I have also experienced some quirks when it came to adding new jobs to repeat clients. This is likely my own error but it's not something I've cared to reach out to the support team to question.

I also have not downloaded a year's incoming and outgoing details to give to an accountant. So I don't know how well that all works. Again, my own thing, and not necessarily on them.

Pros: FreshBooks gives small businesses a well-designed and intuitive user interface that can easily be used for a variety of different functions, most notably billing, and invoicing. Users are given a wide array of attractive template designs to choose from when creating invoices, allowing for catchy, yet professional looking documents.

FreshBooks also provides users with tools for team collaboration, estimates, and projects, all of which can be easily navigated and set up to increase your small businesses' ability to maximize communication, send automatic reminders, submit proposals, and secure jobs with relative ease.

As an accounting package, FreshBooks also provides users with the ability to perform some fundamental bookkeeping and accounting functions, has some bank reconciliation functions, enables you to accept online credit card payments, and provides many of these features via their full-featured mobile application.

Last but not least, FreshBooks provides excellent customer service from the start. A detailed and easily followed tutorial will help new users get started, while their well-trained staff is always ready to provide users with answers to any questions or issues they may encounter. FreshBooks is very proud of their customer service and their customer satisfaction rating, and it really shows when you speak with one of their representatives.

Cons: One limitation in FreshBooks as an accounting package is the fact that they utilize single-entry accounting. While this may not be an obvious flaw to a new small business owner, it will become apparent as more accounts are created, employees are hired, and payment options are implemented. Single-entry accounting is quick and simple, but it certainly leaves something to be desired.

Over the years some application updates have diminished or completely removed some useful features, like service and customer records, and inventory tracking, all of which were very convenient and helpful features.

Overall: Billing and invoicing were made much easier using this software.

Pros: Freshbooks is a simple and straight-forward accounting solution. It's delivered with relatively small amount of standard accounting categories so you're not overwhelmed placing expenses into their proper buckets and adding new categories is quite easy.

Our business doesn't have a ton of complex expenses - and if yours does, Freshbooks might not be a good fit. What we love about Freshbooks is how straight-forward their invoicing system has been. It's easy to create recurring invoicing and it integrates with popular credit card processors to facilitate easy online payments.

Perhaps the attribute that has kept us with Freshbooks through the years is their customer service - it's amazing. Customer service has always been super friendly, easy to understand, and they always seen eager to help. This interest and willingness to be helpful goes a long way.

Cons: The only con we've experienced with Freshbooks is their limited subscription levels. We've exceed their standard top level package but we're not quite big enough to financially justify a custom/enterprise package. It seems Freshbooks is ideal for customers with a lot of recurring transactions - which, we have more individual transactions than recurring so this is part of our problem. Regardless, Freshbooks staff has always been quite helpful in offering up solutions to help us make the most of our subscription limits (500 active clients).

Overall: The biggest benefit we receive is how easy it is to send invoices and get paid online. Freshbooks makes this a lot easier than some of the other solutions we've tried over the years.

Pros: businesses get to manage invoices and recurring subscriptions in less than no time, and collect online payments within the same system. In fact, FreshBooks enables Google Checkout, PayPal, and credit card payments, and integrates with a long list of business systems and applications that can streamline this process. With it, odds are good that you will unite financial control in a single system, and stop paying for the maintenance of complex software infrastructure.

A considerable advantage of FreshBooks compared to other accounting apps is the availability of fully-functional mobile apps and add-ons you can get for Android and iOS devices. The apps allow you to bring the power and convenience of the software on location, and do accounting and access records whenever you wish to do so. As you can see, FreshBooks literally takes finances out of the office, but does so in a safe and seamless fashion.

Cons: Despite a wide range of excellent features users have pointed out a few minor things that can be improved in FreshBooks: its metrics, goal setting, and reporting features can be better. One user also found bugs in FreshBooks email click-throughs and automated expenses which did not function to his liking. Apart from these insignificant glitches, hoever, there is no doubt that FreshBooks is a top notch accounting product that can bring a lot to your accounting deparatament.

Overall: A complete makeover

FreshBooks developers understand the struggle of small teams to handle complex accounting projects and deliver efficient results.

Just as easy as you know it to be

Back in the days, a team of developers decided to design an easy, intuitive, and non-accountant friendly finance management app, and promised their users that this approach will never change.

Mobile-friendly and accessible

FreshBooks is considerably good at following trends, and the best proof of it are the mobile platform add-ons for iOS and Android devices, allowing you to access data and do accounting regardless of your location.

Saves billing time like no other app

FreshBooks redesigned its time tracking for billing purposes by allowing companies to accept payment online, and to do so via various payment gateways.

Excellent invoice to payment features

FreshBooks offers top rate invoice to payment features that can be used by all small businesses. For instance, you can track exactly when your customer opened your invoice email.

Tracking expenses with handy snaps

This feature comes handy if you need to liquidate expenses after a client meeting: you simply click a picture of the receipt and attach the snap to an item in FreshBooks to log the expense.

racking working times even better than before

The new version of the app allows you to becertain of the accuracy of your charges, and lets you have proof if a client decides to dispute them. You can even use the iOS and Android apps to track your working time in the field. Plus, it is easy to convert your work timesheet into an invoice and send it to clients for payments.

A bright future

As good as the new FreshBooks version may look now, it has only begun to develop. The company promises many advanced features in the near future, including bank accounts reconciliation, non-invoice income recording, and billing adjusted to enterprise-grade users. The innovative spirit is planned to spread on to reporting as well, and transform the scope of available integrations to help companies get paid for their efforts, time, and expertise. At the same time, FreshBooks Classic (as the old version is currently known) will remain active, but will constantly be absorbed within the new one's comprehensive productive suite.

Pros: Very easy to invoice.

Cons: Time tracking methods/tool are totally lacking.

Overall: This is a review of Freshbooks Classic. They have just come out with a new version that I am not using due to a lack of addins at this early stage.

I use Freshbooks to invoice my customers for the time and materials I spend on their products. I have recurring invoices that automatically bill my customers on the first of the month for their monthly recurring services and any labor I may have spent on their project for for support.

Freshbooks definitely makes the invoicing process simple and easy. I don't have to worry about manually creating invoices each month. A big time saver. It also provides several different ways for the customer to pay their invoice including credit card and PayPal (PayPal is not an option in the new version of Freshbooks).

But Freshbooks doesn't make the time tracking simple. Since most of my charges are based off time spent working on customer products, I need a powerful Timer tool. Freshbooks does not supply that tool. They have a very rudimentary tool that is browser based. You click start, select your Project and Task, then press stop when completed. Life isn't that simple.

I may be working for one client when another calls on the phone. I would have to stop the existing timer, select a new project/task, start the timer again, then after stopping it, go through the whole process again to go back my original task. Awful.

Instead I had to purchase a desktop based tool called Chronomate that is so much more powerful. It even knows when I've stepped away from desk and forgot to stop the timer. It also uploads to Freshbooks so I don't have to manage anything. Bliss. Of course the developer isn't maintaining it anymore so it doesn't work with the new version of Freshbooks. Crud.

Because of the lack of a decent time tracking tool I won't be updating to the new version of Freshbooks anytime soon.

Hi Kent!

Tim from FreshBooks here, thanks for taking the time to leave us a detailed review. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying using the auto-bill, recurring invoicing aspect of the software!

I definitely hear you when it comes to the lacking experience for time tracking. I'm not too sure if you've tried the new FreshBooks yet, but we did improve upon time tracking section so that you'll only need to enter in your client to track time (no more entering all sorts of information!), we also display the last five timer you've used on the page so that you can switch between them quickly.

That said, the new FreshBooks' time tracker isn't as smart as Chronomate, but we hope we'll continue to build on it to make it work for you, as well as including more add-ons that will work with it.

Thanks again, Kent! If you have any additional questions or comments, feel free to reach out to our support team at 1-866-303-6061 between 8am - 8pm eastern time.

Best,

- Tim

Comments: Here's the skinny on FreshBooks (the good, the bad, and the ugly):

The Good:

You can't beat the visual dashboard for tracking outstanding and past payments for clients. It's a great billing system for small businesses and especially consultants or freelancers. The recurring billing/invoicing system is FAB!

Like many platforms these days, Freshbooks showcases a library of "add-ons" to help enhance your experience. Some of the best ones (in my book, as a tech consultant and marketer) are Hubspot, Shopify, Mailchimp, Bidsketch, BaseCamp, and Podio.

There's a decent time tracking feature, along with the ability to track expenses. You can create/assign staff to project billing. Of course, you can issue "estimates" to prospects for future projects. As you send invoices through the Freshbooks system, it will log "sent" emails for you. And the system is designed to handle manual invoices for snail mail as well.

Each client/business that you bill receives their own "login" to your dashboard to view their invoice(s). This is a nice touch, as clients may often "misplace" that original email with your invoice in it...

It integrates very nicely with Stripe and PayPal (although I hear that may be changing - what? I know) plus Freshbooks has its own payment feature. I never have issues with payments, they always come through the system promptly (for online playing, 24-48 hours, the norm).

The Bad:

I'm not a fan of the reporting feature, while it's functional, it doesn't allow enough flexibility that a diverse consultant such as myself would like (need) to have. There are several reporting functions for each core feature (Accounting, Clients, Invoicing, and Time Tracking). But no option for custom reporting, which I often need as my diverse array of clientele has different process, set-ups, etc. At the very least, I would like to be able to customize the built-in reports on some level. I've not found an add-on that would assist me with this pain point.

The Ugly:

Finally, sadly, the worst thing I have to say about FreshBooks is that the Android app is greatly lacking. As the years (and technology) progress, that could eventually become a deal breaker. All the features in the world won't do a consultant much good if all of those same features can't be accessed via mobile device. We're ALL mobile these days, doncha know.

However, if you split your time between desktop/Mac and mobile, then Freshbooks is well worth a look!

Comments: We've used Freshbooks for quite sometime now in our business. When searching for billing software, I needed something smoothe, mobile and also that allowed for customer portals that could be branded to our company. This was a big deal for us, so we absolutely wanted to make sure it was a feature in whatever software it was and Freshbooks did just that. Freshbooks is super easy to use and handles everything from the customer accounts, to the invoicing to recurring charges and credits. At the end of the year, all the clients get a statement of their services they have paid for, and they never have to contact us about anything. They can review their bills at any time, and also accept estimates that are put together. It also is fabulous for integrations, and we currently use Google Apps, Gusto HQ and a few others to make it that much more effective.

Pros: Some of the biggest reasons we chose Freshbooks over other software: *Incredibly smooth and easy to use interface *Ability to brand your own in colors as well as add your logo *Each customer can be assigned their own billing portal login and you can have multiple clients under one company but each have different username *Utilizes Braintree payments (our primary merchant processor) *Integrates with Google Apps and Gusto HQ *Flat rate for up to 5 users, we currently use the Might Oak Plan *Team tracking and hour logging for projects (huge deal since we work with contractors and they also have a free contractor add on option) *Mobile App is killer - I pop off invoices like it's nobody's business :)

Cons: *Reporting could be improved *Needs better reconciliation in terms of balances. You can do daily balance sheets, but I would rather have it calculate how my business is doing based on capital in our current account, then factor in what we earned and our expenses. *Not good for businesses that have inventory, need inventory management (this I wouldn't necessarily rate as a con however, because Freshbooks was built and designed for SERVICE style businesses - for that it works great) *Reporting can't be opened in the mobile app, you need to access it via the browser *To my knowledge, you can't run multiple businesses out of one account. We currently have two businesses and are deciding if we are going to open up a separate Freshbooks account or if there is another option that's better suited for the second business.

Not for everyone, or even most...

Comments: I've been using Freshbooks for the last couple of years, and at first it was a breath of fresh air after getting away from Quickbooks (both online and desktop version prior to that). If you don't have a proficiency for accounting, systems like Freshbooks are great, so I enjoyed the simplicity of it. The problem is - it's just way too simple and there are some major gaps in functionality. Additionally, it's a stagnant system. Very little improvements or features were tweaked or added in the system during the entire time I used it which is pretty unusual for a web based service. Freshbooks shouldn't even call themselves accounting, because their forte really is in time tracking and invoicing. I now use Freeagent and wish I'd switched sooner. If you don't care about tracking profit margins on projects or really tracking expenses accurately at all, then Freshbooks might work for you.

Pros: Freshbooks gets plenty right. Tracking billable time against customers or customer projects is a breeze, and their invoicing and methods for collecting payments is really hard to beat. Plus, they integrate with so many other services, it makes it really easy to get addicted to. The things I love most - and the main reasons I'm glad that I left Quickbooks for Freshbooks is: Automated invoice reminders, which are totally flexible. This alone saved me a lot of time chasing down late payers. Your customers get a really nice interface for viewing all their invoices online - although I will say I think I only have one or two clients who ever even used the client portal for doing that. Most of them just go to their email to retrieve the links for invoices or statements, but it is still a really nice feature.

Cons: No connections to your banking / credit card accounts. You can do this with expenses to some extent, but it's just awful to work with, when compared to Quickbooks, Xero, FreeAgent - pretty much anyone else. In order to use Freshbooks, you have to have some other software or service for managing the accounting aspects of your business. This ended up being a bad thing for me. I like having it all connected, and there are plenty of great alternatives for that, and some even charge less than Freshbooks. My reasons for leaving Freshbooks? Freshbooks is downright awful at expenses... You can't record non-billable expenses against a customer or project. If you want to record the expense without billing the customer for it, you cannot assign it to the customer or project. No easy way around that without messing up your accounting records. And with expenses that you DO want to rebill the customer for, there's no easy, intuitive way to handle marking up those expenses for goods or services to make a profit on. In order to do that, you must first add the expenses to the customer invoice, and then modify each line item expense amount up to the amount you want the customer to pay. You cannot record bills as you receive them your vendors. Say for example, you get an invoice from a programmer who did work for you on 4 different projects in a given time period. Most vendors will just send you an itemized invoice with all the billable time across the various projects. Well, you can't record it that way in Freshbooks. Each line item on your bill must be entered into freshbooks one line item at a time, and you cannot correlate them easily to know that they are all part of one bill/invoice. Freshbooks also can't help you with managing when your bills are due. That's accounting, which Freshbooks doesn't do. Freshbooks solutions to their shortcomings with expenses is all handled with hacks and workarounds for how their system is currently built. They are not easy or intuitive and they also throw things off with your accounting reports.

Pros: API, customer service, recurring billing & autopay functionality

Cons: No bank reconcilation

Overall: Prior to integrating with Freshbooks (FB), we evaluated a handful other vendors to use for our billing/invoicing integration (bookkeeping wasn't a concern at the time) and found that the other guys simply didn't handle subscription billing, taxes, and/or automated billing like we needed. During the integration about a year ago, I was blown away with FB's customer service. How many companies these days have a human answering the phone within one or two rings? That's right - no auto attendant, no leaving voicemail necessary.

These guys make customer service a priority, hands down - and it's some of the best I've ever seen. Here's an example: a few weeks ago when a DoS attack brought down DNS for much of the internet, FB was affected. I hadn't seen the news, so I called FB to report the problem. During this giant outage where I know they had to be receiving an enormous volume of calls, a live FB operator answered the phone within one or two rings and explained the DNS issue. Logistically I don't know how they pulled that off, but I was impressed.

So nothing's perfect, right? Here's the bad - and the reason for only 4 starts on the features/functionality. While we weren't initially looking for a bookeeping package initially, we ended up using FB for this, too. While it's easy to use and does a great job overall, it is missing a key component - the ability to reconcile with the bank. So the task of generating balance sheets & account reconciliation has to occur outside of FB. If you're a big business, this would likely be a deal breaker. I've read there's an update in the works that adds this functionality, and I'm really looking forward to it - but as of the time this is written, it's not been made available to me.

All in all, this is a great accounting package - super easy to set up & use, amazing API functionality, outstanding customer service, with one potential hiccup for some clients which hopefully will soon be resolved.

It is the current holder of FinancesOnline's Best Accounting Software Award for 2016 as well as the Supreme Software Award for 2016, and has the highest customer satisfaction rates of all similar apps in this category. As you will find out in this review, there is a long list of reasons why our experts considered FreshBooks for these prestigious acknowledgments.

We can enables all these products Google Checkout, PayPal, and credit card payments in Freshbooks and integrates with a long list of business systems and applications that can streamline this process. With it, odds are good that you will unite financial control in a single system, and stop paying for the maintenance of complex software infrastructure.

Freshbooks have these functions Excellent invoice to payment features, Saves billing time like no other app, Mobile-friendly and accessible, Tracking expenses with handy snaps.

Cons: Most of things are too good but some drawbacks like not store credit card infomation. Customer interface is excellent and ability to not store credit card information locally is key to PCI compliance. We love the recurring profile concept for recurring billing and find the web portal very intuitive. We also appreciate the branding we can do for our clients so they feel this billing platform is an extension of our service and that they are in the right place. This also gives our customers the peace of mind of knowing their transactions and billing information is secure.

Pros: Simple invoicing tool especially who need it for API integration. Very good tech support. There were only few problems for the last five years.

Cons: We've used Freshbook for five years since 2013. Very simple invoicing tool with limited functionality though. But it worked good for us and the support was fast and helpful. We paid a little bit annually for "evergreen" plan. We integrated FB API through our websites and our payment systems. But last year Freshbook suggested a new plan which was three time more expensive. We declined it and after few emails back and force we accepted the apology from the freshbook's staff along with the promise to keep the existing plan for us. Yesterday I had a phone call , who offered us a new plan again - six times more then what we pay now. It is obvious Freshbook is transforming from an invoicing tool into a merchant. But we have our own merchants including popular paypal (it looks like won't be supported soon at Freshbook) and all we want is to keep what we came here for - invoicing. It will cost us lot (more then triple yearly fee I figure) to move data, set and tune a new API invoicing tool. So if you decide to do business with Freshbook - think twice about possible "new plan" trap we ended up with and read their terms well. There are other cheaper and better solutions available. Or develop your own system - our choice.

Great for small independent businesses but so much for those with larger clientele.

Pros: Easy flow for credit card payments, automated monthly invoicing, automated payment reminders.

Cons: Monthly invoice does not display amount owing from previous invoices that have not been paid.

Overall: Great product for businesses with a client base of 50 or less. When using for a larger client base, some basic features don't exist. For example there is no field for customer account numbers and if a customer misses a payment, it does not get displayed on the next monthly invoices which can leave customers confused on their amount owing. The statements also don't have basic options of such as a "date field". If you need to send a statement to a customer you've had for years, it displays pages and pages going back to when they first started.

Anyways, again, great product for smaller businesses but definitely has room for improvements...

by FreshBooks on November 23, 2016

Hi Corey!

Tim from FreshBooks here. Just wanted to say thanks for leaving such a thoughtful review, and I'm glad to hear that it's helping you automate your monthly invoices and payment processes.

FreshBooks do let your clients know that they have other outstanding invoices with the balances on top of the current invoice they're viewing if they have other outstanding invoices.

I also hear your feedback on the account number and date range for statements. If it helps, some customers have found it helpful to enter account numbers in the organization name, or in the "internal notes" section.

That said, I will be taking all of your feedback to our team. I hope we can continue to make FreshBooks easy to use for you in the future. Any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out at support at freshbooks dot com.

Best,

- Tim @ FreshBooks

Pros: I like how easy it is to track billables, how easy it is to create estimates and turn them into invoices, how wonderfully the app tracks invoices, expenses, and payments. I always know when my client has viewed the invoice. Freshbooks makes bookkeeping and accounting easy, and this is a plus for us with non-traditionally-logical creative brains. It is wonderful that I can use Freshbooks on my laptop and on the go with my cell-phone or tablet. The functionality is great for most users. I do need to track time (sometimes, just for myself to ensure I am on top of the project projections). I love that I can input receipt images - on the go - directly from my phone's camera or can upload them through files on the laptop/desktop app. I have used Quickbooks in the past, and it was far more robust than I needed. I am a one-person creative company and just needed time-tracking / estimate generation / invoicing / payment tracking / and expense tracking. And, of course, the lovely printable reports for my accountant. Freshbooks far surpasses my expectations.

Cons: It would be nice if I could set up invoicing once or twice a week and have it go out automatically on the date specified without having to create a recurring item. I like to do my desk work one day a week and if I knew I was invoicing someone at the end of the week for an already known amount, then I would like it to automatically send the invoice that day rather than me remember to go into Freshbooks and hit the send button on the draft. (I have a client that only wants to be invoiced every other Tuesday, but Tuesdays are busy for me so I do up her invoice for the work completed two weeks behind. I do my desk work after work hours on Fridays as that is the day my hubby is out and it does not interfere with the work day. Every other Tuesday I have a calendar reminder ping me to send her the invoice. It works for me. But, I would really love to schedule it and forget it.

Overall: Excellent Tool for the Small Business Creative

It was an incredibly simple experience and it simplifies the accounting processes.

Pros: freshbooks is an excellent tool that apart from reducing the accounting processes, since with this tool we replace the tedious and obsolete accounting books and the generation of invoices by a modern and simple online billing system, on the other hand it guarantees the confidentiality of the registered invoices or stored in the cloud, also allows the personalization of invoices with the logo of the user's company and is incredibly easy to use, you can also link the bank account of the company to do an automatic monitoring of expenses, thus allowing the savings of time and further simplifying the billing and collection tasks.

Additionally, it allows users to store customer information, and track and control the time employees invest in each project, this would imply that it is possible to decide which project is more profitable for the company, in relation to man versus benefit hours. or profit for the company, as well as that generates greater efficiency in communication in the members of a team that have a common project since it would avoid the sending of emails and assignments of keys for permits because with this tool you can send files and images in addition to managing the permissions of each team member work. On the other hand, it generates a great variety of financial reports, among which we can highlight: profit and loss reports, invoice details and reports by customers. Finally, it has a mobile application that allows you to access the system from anywhere.

Cons: To access the service you need an Internet connection to use the software. On the other hand the price in relation to subscriptions linked to the number of customers that can be stored or saved is a high price because for example in the basic subscription limits the user to save only 5 clients and if it is a software designed for small companies or medium-sized expansion path should provide more storage as well as a basic package. However, it does not allow estimates of quarterly or annual tax payments, so you will have to calculate them by hand or use a different program that is complementary, which is an additional limitation

FreshBooks is a true blessing.

Comments: I work in a college and print/design for faculty/staff and students. Because of the high volume of jobs it was easy to miss paperwork when jobs were being given to me by email, phone, and walk-ins. Also, my office was not able to accept cash which was difficult for students. Several years ago I started using Wufoo for creating job request forms. It was working well with PayPal integration, but invoices would go out immediately so if they were entered incorrectly or the job changed, it caused confusion when alterations had to be made. FreshBooks was the integration that enabled me to have invoices only go out when the job was fully completed. It also helped me to keep track of what invoices were getting paid and which ones weren't. I love the reports that totally help me at the end of the fiscal year.

Pros: Ability to see all the jobs for each client. Ability to add contacts to the clients - in my case, to add secretaries names to the faculty accounts. Ability to have my student workers be able to assist with the outgoing invoices to ease up my time for other matters. Can add expenses to see exactly what's coming in and going out. Automatic 30, 60, and 90 day overdue notices. Integration with PayPal so invoices can be paid that way if preferred. Would love to use the ability where FreshBooks can keep track of your inventory, but since some of my jobs are paid ahead of time through Wufoo and never have to get transferred over to FreshBooks, it wouldn't be accurate.

Cons: Clients names are always listed by the business name - in my case, by departments or offices. I would prefer that I actually see the person's name. I wish it would give the option of which you'd like to see. Only certain information is sent from the Wufoo form to FreshBooks - I would've liked even just one more box of information to move from one to the other. I couldn't get a clear answer on which one (Wufoo or FreshBooks) was the one that created that code. There is nothing from Wufoo (like an invoice #) that shows up on the FreshBooks invoice to connect the two.

Pros: easy to use

effective - does what it says

makes me look good

pretty

Cons: Sometimes I forget how to do things that I don't do very often.

Overall: I am a freelance editor and I use Freshbooks to track my hours and expenses, and invoice customers. With Freshbooks you can also do estimates (I only do them for my own records, but you can send also quotes to clients), assign different rates to different tasks, and even work with subcontractors (which I haven't done yet).

Freshbooks lets you get paid really easily -- you can connect it to PayPal, or even accept credit cards. (You take a bit of a hit on fees but you get paid FAST.)

You can customize Freshbooks with your colors and logo, so when you send invoices they look very professional and expensive. (That inspires confidence in your clients and encourages repeat business, and also lets them know you're no chump and they better pay you fast.)

You can also use Freshbooks to keep track of expenses and receipts. It makes tax season ridiculously easy. Well.... easier.

There's also an app for your phone so you can track time and expenses, and probably even send invoices, when you're out without your computer.

Tech support is good, fast, and friendly. There is tons of information on the website, too. When I ask for help with something, they usually take the time to go to my account and do screenshots with my own data showing me exactly how to do what I asked about!

Yeah, it seems expensive, but when I think about all the time I would otherwise spend doing invoices, tracking time and expenses, and putting together tax information, it's actually pretty reasonable.

Pros: What I liked most about this application is that it allows me to be more effective in managing my bills, saving me money in hiring personnel for this task. Handling my bills well increases the effectiveness of my collections by growing my business. For a small business, it is excellent and it works very well, but for large companies the application works slow. I like how easy it is to learn how to use it. It is designed to be used by people with little or no experience in the financial management of the company. The application tracks the expenses of the company and sends invoices to customers to charge for your work, it's like having a very competent private secretary. I recommend it for entrepreneurs with little experience in the business world.

Cons: Among the things I do not like about this tool is that you can not make tax estimates to pay. In this case, the tax payment estimates must be calculated manually. This causes delays in the preparation of reports and increases the possibility of error margins. To perform this task and many others you need an internet connection. This limitation slows the workflow when there is no internet service. The system does not have a variety of graphic models for reports

Overall: Efficiency in the administration of my business. Good handling of invoices and collections. My business has grown because I can make better estimates of income and expenses. It is very easy to use and install. The learning curve is fast. The price is adequate according to the benefits it offers and its limitations. It is widely recommended for small and medium businesses that start and need a healthy and effective administration.

Pros: Not everything in an application that facilitates the processes of accounting is bad, that's why FreshBooks presents many positive functions, in my individual perception this software I like because it is clearly a solution for billing and accounting of companies

and freelancers and entrepreneurs of small businesses based on a model of Web Hosting (cloud), as well as offering a free version that helps in some way to save those people who are starting and working only for a single client as they grow, Clear in particular, my person helped me to favor some calculations while I was trying to start an accounting business but by my own decision I decided to abandon it for dedicating myself to my telecommunications engineering responsibilities. A part of it is very easy to use and at a certain point if you have any inconvenience customer service apart from being free helps you without any inconvenience only works as well as any service desk. Finally, I really like its interface and its multi-currency transactions.

Cons:

The application has many positive things but what I like the least is that the limits to the number of clients that can be invoiced with the free version generate problems in terms of the personal growth processes of my personal businesses and lack many functions of Accounting, such as inventory management and payroll, which are essential for companies with multiple employees so I can not recommend it, These are often offered in competing packages

Overall: I obtained a good management of my personal accounting in terms of billing and collection of my professional services, in the same way, I learned to manage my income very well in the best way.

Pros: It's user-friendly and makes it really easy to monitor and collect payments. You can create and estimate, get the client to approve online, roll to an invoice, set up recurring invoices for each client, log your hours, have them automatically roll to the corresponding monthly invoice, send via email or mail, and track when it's paid.

Cons: While it's great for estimates, invoicing, discounting, setting terms and collections, you cannot do anything more sophisticated such as creating a proposal. On the expense tracking side, it doesn't allow you to track expenses of different currencies with respective exchange rates.

Overall: I have two businesses and have been using Freshbooks for 3 years as my billing platform. Freshbooks makes it easy to bill for items, and bill for time - which automatically rolls onto the invoice each month. I bill in both USD and CAD. Freshbooks lets me assign currency type by the client or by invoice.

The features I love include the ability to see when a client has viewed the invoice, how many times it's been viewed when they've forwarded it (for payment), the ability for clients to pay online, and the auto-generated late payment notifications. I started out small, on the free plan, but after a year I went with the paid plan which gave me the ability to customize the look and feel of the invoices and customer portal. Yes, there's a client portal where clients can view their invoices and generate statements.

Another feature I use is Documents. It's where I store my Wire Transfer details for clients to easily access. Overall, Freshbooks is a great system to start and grow your business.

Recommendations to other buyers: There's a free version that includes Freshbooks branding that you can use until you generate enough clients/revenues to move to the paid version - which is also very budget friendly.

Pros: It does what is expected of it at a good monthly price. Invoices looks good and options to receive payments are good enough.

Cons: Navigation isn't good, hard to find things and reporting also a bit messy. Search fields do not take broad searches.

Overall: I used Freshbooks at the company I work for, for about a year or so. We sent invoices to our customers and tracked payments through stripe and paypal.

Even though the software is very restricted in terms of functionality (or maybe it was the package we used), the creators were able to make its navigation quite counter-intuitive. Often times you have to click around for a long time to properly understand a customer's history. Search fields are not broad, so often you will find yourself looking for a customer like SeagullBeachHotel like crazy... (0 results for Seagull Beach Hotel, or Seagull, etc).

Apart from the bad navigation, system does its job as intended, payments are collected and transferred fine. Invoices are issued and statuses pretty much (not always) are correct. A couple of times we had an error with a payment received and there was no additional information to better understand what happened. Typical answer is "you have to tell your customer to ask his/her bank". No blame, but problems become hard to solve.

I wish their system could make it better to customize email messages and to avoid getting marked as spam. It was a bit common for our customers to not pay because the email fell into spambox.

Overall a useful tool. I was an end user, so I haven't got a chance t compare with other platforms like this (only Chargeover, being a bit more complex and even less user friendly than Freshbooks).

I would recommend it to small companies looking for a cost effective solution to send invoices and receive payments.

Recommendations to other buyers: Overall, a good cost-effective solution. Not very customizable.

Increased my efficiency and sped up how quickly my invoices are paid.

Comments: FreshBooks is simple to use and has a very clean interface. The iPhone apps makes billing and time tracking a breeze. I have been using it for years, and found that it fits the bill perfectly [pun intended]. I don't currently use all the features of FreshBooks, but I do subscribe to their blog which keeps introducing me to features that make the entire experience great. They keep introducing new features, so I may never get caught up, but thats okay, because they keep improving my efficiency. On the rare occasion that I need to contact support, I have been pleasantly surprised that a real-human answers the phone on 1 ring and is happy to help solve the issue.

Pros: Invoices need to be created with ease while onsite with a client. FreshBooks does this using their iPhone app. The client is instantly emailed an online invoice, allowing them to pay the invoice immediately. Being an Apple Consultant, design astetic is important, and I wanted my invoices and payment portal to reflect that. The received FreshBook invoices, statements, website/ portal and other client contact are easily customizable with very little effort.

Cons: I wish that FreshBooks would allow for time tracking separate from time-billing. [Updated 11/2016: the new version of FreshBooks does allow this.]

Recommendations to other buyers: Give it a try, I was hooked almost immediately.

Pros: I used Freshbooks in a small Alarm Start-up company that I used to be a sales manager at. This is an ideal program for smaller company for tracking and invoicing.

I've also used Quickbooks and liked the invoicing on Freshbooks much better. It has some nice features such as you can see when people open the quote or invoice that you send them and how many times they have opened it. This is nice when you have a potential sale and you can tell if the prospect has looked at your quote and if he re-opened it.

The customer can pay the can pay the invoice straight from the online and is easy and intuitive for them. Being an web based platform is nice to be able to pull it up on any device no matter where you are.

Cons: I wish there was a little more customization on controls and privileges for the user. The salesmen in the company was able to adjust pricing and I did not want them to be able to do this. There was not much customization on the presentation of the quotes and invoices either. You can have your company logo and small adjustments but very limited on the appearance.

Comments: As an Italian lawyer, I advise a limited number of Italian and international clients and do my admin myself. Producing and sending accurate and timely Pro-forma invoices ("estimates" in Freshbooks terms), then invoices upon receipt of payment, and even worse recording expenses was a nightmare. It no longer is. The SW does take my time, but it forces me to be accurate and did solve the problem of communication with the accountant/tax advisor.

Pros: Easy, reliable, it did solve a ton of problems for me. In particular, my documents (invoices and expense receipts, mainly) are safely and orderly kept in there.

Cons: As I mostly issue invoices to Italian clients, the setup was somewhat more complex: the application was not conceived to handle Italian taxation intricacies when preparing estimates, invoices. But I did manage around the difficulties, and it did reorder my administrative life. One suggestion: it would be very helpful to have the option to let the accountant see and print/download the attachments or edit the expenses; basically they should be able to do almost all I can do with the SW. I had to give to an accountant my password, so he can now access Freshbooks as if he was me. They warn me when they do...

Recommendations to other buyers: One special recommendation for Italian or anyway non-US potential users: if you have an accountant who prepares the tax returns for you, then Freshbooks is fantastic even if it was conceived for Americans! Have no fear, you can use it, and you should. At least as long as 1) your volumes are not excessively high, i.e. if you do not need to hire or pay your own accountant, and 2) you do not handle personally your tax return and connected amenities.

Pros: I love being able to pull reports (P & L) very quickly to see my numbers. Clients can log into their invoices at any time and pay or download (which saves me from having to send it to them).

Creating an invoice is very simple. The per month plan allows for up to 50 clients, which is plenty for the time being. Customer support is fantastic!

Cons: I'd like to be able to integrate with my website instead of manually having to enter the revenue.

The old system used to show in the Dashboard what money was in transit. Now you have to login to WePay. No biggie, just an extra step.

Clients cannot select the amount to pay if paying a partial amount of the invoice. This is a hassle when a client asks to pay a different amount as what was set up in the Payment Schedule. You have to go in and change it. Also, with Payment Schedules, if you don't enter them in date order, you have to reenter them. Let's say you get several payments entered and forgot one, you have to go and change all the dates in order for the system to accept it. It's a pain!

Overall: An easy solution to invoicing and accounting without the big monthly bill

Pros: It helps you get paid faster with easy to issue invoices

It helps you better understand your numbers and hit your goals with helpful dashboards and accounting reports

It makes expense tracking easy with a handy receipt capture tool and database that is on the App

It simplifies HST payments with calculating net collected HST

Cons: Waiting eagerly for the Android update. Also would love to see some forecasting tools - looking ahead is just as critical as proper accounting!

Overall: Let's face it, most of us don't like accounting and the thought of keeping spreadsheets to manage our books sucks. We want to find and close new deals, do the work, invoice and get paid. However, those who understand their numbers are in the best position to succeed. Freshbooks takes the pain out of the onerous (but crucial) accounting tasks with an easy to use system that provides expense recording and organization, invoicing and payment reminders. It's something that I have come to depend on over the last 5 years.

Recommendations to other buyers: Invoicing clients. and tracking those invoices, can be complicated and painful when done manually. Freshbooks solves this admin problem. With Freshbooks, I benefit from having an accounting system that completes tasks efficiently and therefore get paid faster.

Pros: The system is clear and straightforward. Many of the issues we've had with functions are clearly explained in content in the platform, so you don't have to go to Google for answers. That's a plus. But, by far, the reason we stay with Freshbooks is the Customer Service. You're given your Support Key in no uncertain terms and have someone on the line to help in a flash. The Key links you on the line to your dashboard where the issue is and it works great. We would have changed provider before this, actually a few times along the way, if not for the Support people there. They make the cost worthwhile. Honestly, any issue we've had becomes a laugh and a smile by the end of the call with their team. That's far more than I can say about 99% of the Support staff I've encountered elsewhere and proves, beyond doubt, that great call support is just as important as a great product.

Cons: The problems aren't many, but they're problems. The entire credit system, when to give one and what it may affect, is less than clear and I've had to train new hires on the system myself because everyone is still unclear about what "not to touch". The percentages seem a bit off as well. you should easily be able to fold one invoice into another for clients with ongoing work added to in new agreements. If they want a payment plan, it has to be applied to each dated invoice manually. At least that's what we've been told by every person we could find. Needless to say, it can be tedious to have to do this manually when using software. It'd be faster in an old ledger.

The customer service makes this software is excellent, mobile applications developed are a pleasure.

Pros: I like strong billing features, unique time tracking and customer management tools, and some accounting functions. Is the cloud accounting solution n.1 designed for small business owners. With powerful billing and billing features that are market leaders. Additionally it has a cleaner aesthetics, and greater availability of features such as those mentioned above. Finally, there are price options to suit most companies. Payments are made monthly, and a contract is not necessary, you can cancel the service at any time. There is also a free 30-day trial and no bank or credit card information is required.

Cons:

This version may be a bit more difficult to navigate than the new version of FreshBooks.

Account with few tutorials so that the client can be updated and become familiar with the software, although there is a free trial, there could be tutorials that allow the user to know each of the updated tools and new formats, likewise, it is necessary tutors so that The user is aware of the changes and what is the innovation. For example, it is necessary for the client to know what are the characteristics of the control panel, which in this case are the home screen displays attractive and organized graphics that provide a quick view of the activity and the financial health of the company. These graphs are called Invoices and Expenses, Pending Invoices, Expense Categories, Recent Activity, Active Projects, and Recent Customer Reviews. But I insist that there are few tutorials guiding the client in their experience.

Overall: Benefits: clean user interface and extended and detailed functions. It allows for inventory, time tracking and the ability to request customer reviews.

I like that it is designed for companies that look for invoicing and light accounting tools, in addition to a stable software and involves less paper time.

In addition, the customer service is wonderful, offers many resources for their customers such as phones, email, contact form, web and social networks. I also like the fact that the screen can be customized because it allows the organization to be carried out through a daily or weekly calendar, which adjusts the software to the client's program.

Perfect for a freelancer or sole-proprietor too!

Comments: I love how easy the interface is to use both in the browser and on the mobile app. Setting up clients, invoices, terms, payments/expenses and downloading reports is a breeze. Most importantly, giving your accountant access so that they have everything they need come tax time, is worthy of a cheers.

Pros: I have saved so much time since switching over to Freshbooks both with the ease of use and automation of certain requirements for my business.

Cons: I haven't been able to find a way to denote certain invoices who have deposits paid not to apply the system's late-fee penalty after a certain date, so I have to manually remove that line when it's added to an invoice.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's easy enough to get a free trial to see what all the hype is about and with the excellent support from FreshBooks, you can get answers to any your questions. If you want to sign-up with the smallest option and you find that your business grows or you need more out of the software, you can upgrade your account or only pay for the add-ons that you need. If you take payments from customers or clients in-person, you can also purchase a card reader - if not, you can take credit card payments directly through an invoice.

Comments: We have used Fresh Books for over three years. I am using it in a business for which it was not designed. We have a seafood processing business in The Fiji Islands in the South Pacific. We track seafood from buying a whole product and processing that product into it's final form which we sell to restaurants and resorts throughout this region. We do not track time. We track products and sales to customers. For us...Fresh Books works incredible well. We can track inventory, sales. and profits any time and in any place. The cost of Fresh Books is nominal in comparison to it's performance for us ..... I have owned multiple businesses and used multiple computer programs. Fresh Books has been the perfect solution for this new start up... and i am sure we will be using it for years to come... Thank you Fresh Books...

Pros: Extremely easy to use and to train new employees. 24 hour access anywhere you go. Excellent reporting. Allows customers all access to their account.

Cons: None that we can think of.. We have never even called in for help.....never.!!.

Recommendations to other buyers: We highly recommend Fresh Books for start up businesses of all types. We have grown to about 1 million in sales and Fresh Books handles our volume with ease.

Pros: I like how simple FreshBooks is to use. We are able to generate and deliver invoices very rapidly to our customers. It is intuitive and works well for simple invoice sending and tracking. It's great that we don't need to change our existing payment gateways that we use and that it supports multiple gateways.

Cons: Probably the lack of integration capability so that we can send dynamic line items. We were looking for a way to move all of our dynamic invoicing to FreshBooks but haven't been able to add dynamic line items based on usage that is computed on the fly. For example, we wanted to charge our customers a certain amount every month, but that amount would change depending on their usage in our software. We were looking for a way for a callback to be triggered right before a charge to see how much a customer should be charged.

Also wish to be able to send "quotes" to customers that aren't part of the accounts receivables sections. Sometimes customers just want a quote that they can pay, however, we didn't want that added to the amount owed to us.

Overall: The software helped us easily deliver invoices, on-the-fly to our customers. While our product still has an automated billing solution built in, sometimes our customers wanted an invoice that they can pay BEFORE they are using our software. Freshbooks helped us capture that payment without us needing to add additional code to our software.

Pros: Easy billing, easy to add customer information and track history, integrates nicely with Paypal and Stripe. You can call them, they are real, awesome people! Rare and special in this day and age.

Cons: The balance sheet function isn't very good, and the Freshbooks staff doesn't understand the balance sheet for the most part, it's just not a focus of the platform. Not necessarily a bad thing, just make sure you've got a good balance sheet elsewhere! I would like for it to integrate better with Strikingly, my website platform, and with online shops in general.

Overall: Before using the software, our billings were received 10-15 weeks late, it was atrocious. Also, I had to spend days sending bills in the mail and all that money on stamps. I get so many hours back that I can use to grow the business, rather than just managing current clients. I get an incredible amount of financial information that's easy to access, and when I'm traveling, it's available in the cloud....the best! I love the Freshbooks team, especially they are super informed, helpful and eager to talk on the phone.

Stop calling it accounting software. It's not.

Comments: As a freelance bookkeeper, I hate Freshbooks with a passion. My client uses it, and he loves if for invoicing, but it's really not good for anything else, and without even a basic reconciliation feature, it's an absolute nightmare to try and figure out if any of the information is correct on the limited reports it allows. Even a report listing just the entries for reconciliation would be a vast improvement. Also, there is no way to reverse entries other than just deleting them, which is absolutely ridiculous. Overall, I will probably turn down clients rather than work with this software again, unless there are major changes. It needs VAST improvement. It doesn't even integrate with common accounting software.

Pros: I honestly can't think of any. It's easy to invoice for computer illiterates?

Cons: It's touted as accounting software, but it isn't. It doesn't even work with actual common accounting software, making it functionally worse than useless. Advertising it as accounting software is fraudulent.

Hi Christine!

Tim from FreshBooks here. I'm really sorry to see that you had a frustrating experience. Whatever pain that we may have caused for you to leave such a passionate review, we're sincerely sorry.

You can see a list of entries by running either the payments collected report, or the expense report. If you want to get into details for your sales, you can also run the items sales or the tasks invoiced report to help you with your reconciliation.

We offer an Accountant Center feature for bookkeepers to be able to export their clients' data to IIF journal entries file that can be opened in other accounting softwares, and any entries deleted are counted as a reverse entries in the journal entries that are tracked in the background.

Once again, I'm really sorry to hear that you had such a frustrating time with FreshBooks. If there's anything we can help clarify, or you'd like to leave more feedback for us, please feel free to reach out and we'll be happy to help and listen: https://www.freshbooks.com/contact

Comments: I'm a one-person web dev firm, i send 3 - 5 invoices monthly but I have about 15 clients. I use freshbooks for time-tracking and invoicing. I began using it because it was based in Canada (as I am - I wish I could be charged for Freshbooks in CDN dollars though) and because it was easy to setup and use compared to the other invoice webapps around at the time (2014).

Overall it's great, but I have actually found it VERY expensive, especially in comparison to other apps I use daily in my work. So although I enjoy using it I am actively looking for alternatives because it's simply too expensive to justify.

Just for comparisons sake, here are a few of the other monthly subscriptions I pay for:

Photoshop - $9.99/mo

Google Apps - $5/mo

WebHosting - $20/mo

But when we look at Freshbooks, the app I use for 5 ~ 10 minutes per week, because I have more than 5 clients = $25/mo.

I would suggest raising the amount of clients you can have in the lite account to 25, that would keep my on Freshbooks forever. But as of now I'm actively looking for alternatives - $300/year is a lot to my small business.

That said, it's reports are very useful and in truth I stuck around to see the new design which unless it gets to me quick I won't see.

Overall I like Freshbooks but I find it VERY expensive.

Hi Mike!

Tim from FreshBooks, thanks for taking the time to write a thoughtful review. I'm glad to hear that the reports are useful!

I totally understand that it's difficult to add the additional expense to your business. At FreshBooks, we believe we deliver the goods to support our pricing - we put resources into security, development, and support to keep your data safe. We also come out with new releases often in each quarter, and to try our best to have a live person on the line with you in three rings or less.

It's our hope that we can save you enough time each month on billing & account administration, time that can be applied to growing your business, so that the service basically pays for itself!

I definitely also feel your pain re: CAD exchange rate. I'd recommend giving us a call at 1-866-303-6061 between 8:00am - 8:00pm ET, and we'll see what we can do! I also hope we'll have the new FreshBooks ready for you soon as well.

Thanks Mike!

It helped me transition from Word/ Excel notes made here and there, to a one-stop-for-all platform.

Pros: As a freelancer with a small load of projects, I didn't need anything too fancy; it helps me manage efficiently what otherwise kept bugging me; mainly helps with keeping an organised track of expenses/receipts, time management, invoicing

1. Mobility / easy to use on the go: due to this software operating in the cloud, it's easy to use it on the go when I have a free moment here and there - this makes me feel as if I'm gaining time; big bonus for me.

2. Time tracking + calculating pro-rata + automatically adjusting the invoice: what won me over is the thought that as a freelancer it could help me fine-tune my time management by readily tracking the time spent for each client and getting a helicopter view on how I can spend my time better, as well as a better sense of how much time certain projects actually, speeding up my process of generating realistic and more accurate estimates on new proposals.

3. Keeping a neat track of my expenses by taking pictures of receipts and organising them under the appropriate projects. That's one of the parts of bookkeeping I like least as I tend to have receipts in the pockets of each of my coats until the dreaded day of searching for the receipts to book in. Having pictured them and organised them efficiently on the spot, takes a big chunk of stress off.

4. Integrated payment methods within the invoice.

5. Reminders for when invoices are due/have been paid as well as notification for when the clients read the invoices - that's super.

Cons: As a freelancer it suits ad hoc projects with unique entries. However, if I were working on projects with rather similar outputs, I'd be a bit irritated that it doesn't have more intuitive automated fill-in entries.

Overall: Better time management

More confident in giving time estimates on new proposals

Takes the headache of organizing expenses away

Smooth communication with clients on the delicate topic of money and chasing invoices

Comments: I started a consulting business 4 years ago and FreshBooks was recommended as an invoicing software service by a software engineer. I started using it on Day 1 and learned how to use it in real time. It is very easy to figure out as you go, it is mobile and works on my phone and lets me create invoices automatically from unbilled time. It has a timer function that works on the phone as well as the computer. The invoices can be sent by snail mail, email or PDF'd. I have recommended it to several colleagues just starting out.

Pros: It is easy to figure out and use and if you can't figure it out, their support line is the best, by phone or email!!! It does everything I need to invoice clients and has a number of accounting report functions that are extremely useful. It has many more features than I actually use.

Cons: It could not keep track of two timers/clients at once, but I understand that they have added that feature.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have recommended it a number of times. Just plunge in and use it, you don't need to be a computer geek.

Comments: Let's face it, most of us don't like accounting and the thought of keeping spreadsheets to manage our books sucks.

Pros: It helps you get paid faster with easy to issue invoices It helps you better understand your numbers and hit your goals with helpful dashboards and accounting reports It makes expense tracking easy with a handy receipt capture tool and database that is on the App It simplifies HST payments with calculating net collected HST

Cons: Waiting eagerly for the Android update. Also would love to see some forecasting tools, and expense reports

Recommendations to other buyers: You won't regret using Freshbooks to manage your accounting!

Pros: I love the tracking. I can instantly check to see if clients have viewed their invoice or not.

Also love sending invoices via email.

It is so easy to whip up an invoice and email it to a client in a snap.

My customers can pay their invoice online through their special link or mail me a check.

The home dashboard shows me instantly how much I have invoiced for each month and how much I have and have not collected.

You can set up reoccurring payments for clients and reoccurring invoices which are automatically sent out on the day of the month you specify.

Using Freshbooks also saves me money as I was paying a monthly fee to my bank just to have an active merchant account.

If you are looking for a solution to your monthly invoicing needs, I highly suggest looking at Freshbooks.

Cons: They made a new software interface that I have not adjusted to yet. Other than that, I like everything else.

Overall: Fast invoicing and "at a glance" dashboard of my monthly sales are the things I like most.

Pros: It's like Quickbooks made for online! In my opinion, its similar to paypal (which i also love!). For as little as bucks a month, you can bill up to 5 clients - but since we are a little bit of a larger firm, we opt in for a month plan which lets us bill up to 500 clients!! It makes invoicing easier and is much better to keep track of payments! I also enjoy that once you first open up the program, you get a quick overview of the company's financial status. This is the 1st thing I enjoy seeing when opening up to see how our accounts are looking.

Cons: The only thing I dislike is the 30 day trial. Although we love the program at our office, I feel that 30 days isn't enough to provide a successful understanding of how the program works for other people who are interested.

Overall: It makes everything easy to use in one-click. There is a vertical panel to the left of the dashboard displays that is easy to navigate for certain areas of the site such as estimates, clients, expenses, projects, etc. It makes it easier than having to go through menus and find everything like other programs!

Pros: * Ease of Use

Cons: * Reporting - though great it could be more robust

* Features - I would love to see more active feature development from FreshBooks

Overall: We've had a great experience using FreshBooks from an invoicing and billing perspective since we started using it in 2010. They've steadily made improvements over the last six years that have not been too cumbersome to learn but have improved our interactions with our customers and their ability to pay us.

We've most recently added the FreshBooks payment processing option to our account, and we've found that not only is it an efficient and effective way to make payments, we've also found that our customers have found it easy to use whether making a one time CC payment or setting up for recurring payments. Transaction rates are also competitive and its tight integration with FreshBooks made the decision easy for us.

I would gladly recommend FreshBooks as an invoicing system to any small or medium sized business!

Pros: We've been using Freshbooks for the past 10 years, and I was one of the people at our company who helped set up its automated billing functions. It's easy to learn -- even from a "non-accounting" person's perspective -- and the customer service team is great. Every interaction we've had with them over the years has been pleasant and productive. We primarily use Freshbooks to invoice our clients via credit card on recurring profiles, although we are able to quickly create and send one-time invoices to customers, as well. It's also very easy to update and add billing contacts / company information; that's important because a lot of account changes can happen in a month, including new sales. Also, I'd like to add that customers conveniently get automated alerts about their invoices (when they are paid, if a credit card needs to be updated, etc.), providing a self-service option. We've recommended Freshbooks to other businesses because of our exceptional experience, and we hope they continue to grow.

Cons: There really isn't anything I don't particularly like about the software, but I think it suites the size of our business. Time will tell if we outgrow it, but for now, it meets our needs. There are some upgrades and modules we don't use, so we'll explore it when the time comes. But I'm confident if we call Freshbooks, the friendly customer service team will be more than happy to help us.

Overall: Automated billing, client billing portal, automated alerts, easy invoicing software, credit card billing, recurring profiles, and more.

Pros: Since I bill by the hour, I can start the time and it tracks my time for me then let's me generate an invoice in seconds based on unbilled time. It's been a time-saver for me since I don't have to manually build a complex invoice that indicates the day, time and details the service provided. It's been a money-saver because I rarely forget to log billable hours (which would be money left on the table). It also let's me manage payments off-line by checks and on-line using credit card integration. Customer service has been great when I needed it but rarely have.

Cons: Some of the reports I have needed were not available but they were insignificant enough that I have forgotten the details.

Overall: Time saver in generating and tracking invoices; money saver since I have a record of what has been billed, what has been paid and what is still on the table.

Comments: I use Freshbooks to run my freelance design business. It's so integral I can't do without it. From organizing my clients, projects, time and invoices, to the reports features it's such a life saver for my business and makes things super easy for new clients to log in, see, print and pay their invoices.

Pros: Reports features are great. I can get an in-depth and clear picture of what I'm making! I also love the time tracking tool and how it integrates totally when I generate invoices.

Cons: I'm not versed well in the expenses section. Wish it was a little easier to manage.

Recommendations to other buyers: Would LOVE expanded customization for the invoice design such as additional templates and special section for important notes/updates in the invoice area that clients would see right away. How about expanding the recommendations portions and maybe allowing a section for a portfolio somehow so the 2 can integrate and possibly help to increase business. I guess I'm not totally clear on how the recommendations get seen after their written by clients.

Pros: We use FreshBooks as side or QuickBooks, since we are having clients from India and abroad. For our abroad clients we use FreshBooks to invoice them. The tool is really great if you have a huge customer base and needs to manage or send invoice in a daily manner. FreshBooks helps us by tracking our each payments and tracking of our customer payments thereby tracking our revenue monthly. The tool has a cool feature on which we can workload the monthly balance sheet with the customer we have on FreshBooks. This helps us greatly to create our monthly complete balance sheet as we can add our Indian customers easily. Good tool ! also the features are good and easily manageable.

Cons: We came into a situation in which our tool crashed several times a couple of weeks before, we contacted the support team there responses was limited, although the issue is fixed some how we are some what disappointed with the support they give.

Overall: In overall our customers are happy with the invoice we send them through FreshBooks, as the invoices are great and they can track them easily. Good tool for small and large companies. Except for the support case, we are really happy with FreshBooks

Pros: Nothing like not having to waste time with the collection to customers, be aware of the expenses when you work on your own and you are starting your small business, there are currently several applications that help you with this, but of which I have tried freshbooks is among of the first three, it has vital tools such as charging your customers, generating invoices, the tool for monitoring expenses is great, helping you to keep up-to-date the payments of services and not exceed your expenses according to your earnings, really a helping hand at the start of your business.

Cons: There are two main disadvantages for me, the first is that you must be connected to the internet whenever you want to use it, I know that this should not be considered a disadvantage today, but there are faults and not being able to enter your accounting for this its delicate, the second is that it does not allow the quarterly calculation of taxes, which forces you to do it yourself and takes a lot of time.

Overall: Have a tool that is responsible for accounting and payments in a precise way, correct and pleasing to customers, because with their bills templates you have personalization, and give the touch to your service.

Pros: Manage a personal mark the most of the time is difficult because you have to be aware of so many issues, specially the accounting and billing, but with Freshbooks you can handle this two issues simple and easily. This app that works in the cloud make the accounting and billing of your business and easy process, because you can create and send billing easily, even with you on logo or name on it, you can track them and make sure that your clients recieve and will paying, and you can add some specific topics of accounting to keep the trace of your budget and work efficientely.

This app save time, money and make that you can handle all the issues of your business by your own.

Cons: For me it was a little difficult in the beggining to handle some topics of this app, because I did not know anything about accounting and billing procceses but with some practice I learn and start sending billing and get the money for my work as an indepent worker.

Overall: Get the charge for my work from people outside of my country, they can pay me easily and I can send to them the billing, and also I can handle my budget and expenses in an very easy way.

Pros: I use Freshbooks to invoice clients, and it's a breeze. The user interface is as clear as you can get, and even the first time I jumped in ages ago, it was obvious what everything did, how to create an invoice, how to send it, etc.

The software makes creating the invoice and adding line items very easy, and you're able to send it quickly, with a minimum of fuss. My clients have always paid quickly, and I know I've heard that sending invoices via Freshbooks helps with this - people are used to receiving invoices from them, and that tends to make them pay faster apparently.

There's a feature to automatically remind clients, which sounds very useful. Although I haven't had to use it personally, the ability to send an automated reminder without having to sit there and type an email and try to find the exact right wording, etc, seems like a killer feature.

Cons: I haven't run into any real problems with Freshbooks at this point. I guess the one thing that has happened was that the first time I used it, I accidentally left a "Pay via Paypal" button clicked (or perhaps clicked it myself?) and I'm not sure exactly how this is displayed when the client sees it, but they took it as me saying "Please use Paypal" - which is definitely not my preference. That problem was easily solved with an email from them to me, and I have made sure not to click that button since.

Overall: The ability to quickly invoice clients, without messing up the formatting, enabling me to get my invoices paid quickly.

Good, easy and practical.

Pros: The diversity that it has for the designs, is designed for small businessmen and gives you a great variety of tools that are at your disposal. It's the kind of software you need when you start a business as a beginner. It is a great help to keep the accounting and billing, making a follow up to the cats that are held during each day. It also has the advantage of saving important customer information, it also has an optimized interface. In short, a great help, comfortable and available to everyone.

Cons: it does not allow you to make quarterly tax payment estimates, so you have to calculate them by hand or use a different program. In addition, there is the limitation of needing an Internet connection, but that is a minor problem nowadays. However, it provides exceptional value at a low price.

Overall: Good management of my business, comfortable and very accessible to the consumer. It allows you to keep accounts and save profiles of buyers, without a doubt a good investment.

Pros: This online accounts system has significant value in business stream. Users don¿t have to spend much time in making accounts and recording transactions. It has elegant and excellent features and the people who have been using since long time are satisfied with it.

Cons: Sometimes this service gets down and its users have to face the difficulties. They feel scared when their confidential recordings and data are uploaded on service. In the past tenure some of users felt their accounts were deleted while the service got down.

Overall: For users it is easy to use and they can easily make accounts. Their time is saved by transferring their accounts on this software. Sole proprietors feel their money saved by recording online the details of accounts and entries. People think that their businesses are going well as they don¿t have to spend much time on their accounts.

Pros: It is an excellent application to start in the business world. Automates many tedious elements such as invoice collection and automatic tracking of bank accounts. Freshbooks allows you to store data about your customers, and this makes your transactions with them even easier, making payment and collection times even slower. For the price offered for this service, Freshbooks is highly competent! Because with only the low transaction fees I now have a lot of money.

Cons: It's great for organizing small businesses, but I don't see it as very functional for large services. The system falls short when it comes to large calculations and collections. You cannot calculate quarterly payments, so you have to do it by hand and include it in the software. And you will always be limited to an internet connection, as this software works only in the cloud!

Overall: For the use I'm giving you, the program is excellent. For new investors and entrepreneurs it adapts very well and helps to save a lot of time! When you don't have a lot of time to collect bills, Freshbooks is an excellent option to take care of that billing time you could invest in your company or business!

Pros: I've been using Freshbooks for a long period of time. Estimation and time tracking feature of Freshbooks are very useful for me with accountability. Freshbooks allows accepting online payments regardless of place. My business changed rapidly after I started to use Freshbooks. Freshbooks have very good expense tracker and invoicing features which helped our team to stay updated. The interface of Freshbooks is a very simple even person who is bad with numbers can easily work.

Cons: The problem that I'm facing with a new version of Freshbooks is that we do not get invoices based on the logged times it is generated for a particular date range, which is very difficult if I want to create invoice within a day, I hope Freshbooks will change this problem in future updates.

Pros: Like every entrepreneur I have worked in several projects with work teams, in the area of systems and others, but a common denominator is the need to have clear finances where you have total control of the collection for work to keep the project afloat , and that's where FreshBooks comes in, an application that behaves perfectly, allows you to customize invoices to suit the company and the client and if you use them with applications such as paypal you can charge quickly and securely for the work done, scheduling payments and measuring the times, is a key tool to ensure the success of the projects in which you work.

Cons: The services offered are missing several tools to be considered as an accounting application in its entirety, since you will need to work with other software to complete the task, be it paypal for payments or other applications for accounting and tax payments, if they achieve fill this, they will be on the top of the market.

Overall: To be able to charge for the projects, keeping a record of the payments made, thus being able to keep a clean accounting between input and expenses, to measure the benefits of each job performed.

Pros: I love this great software, all this time I've been using it seems great and the truth is helping me quite a bit, it helps you to take a weight off of you besides having many options with which we can enter, another of the things that seemed pretty It is good that we can use it through the phone and it is a fascinating thing since it helps me a lot and I do not necessarily have to bring something physical as such, its interface is very simple and very easy to use, it has several advantages that we can use correctly without having Much knowledge, go emphasize that the service to customers is very good and is above many software, excellent software and offers good results!

Cons: note that the only thing I do not like is the monthly license, they should offer much longer or permanent licenses since some users do not have the time to make or renew this payment, but it gives good results!

Overall: I like to see the results that this software is giving me, it is very practical and useful for the elaboration of diverse processes that I have to carry out, very good quality and above all confidence and security.

Pros: I Love that FreshBooks is very friendly to its users. The focused design for its users is very simple and forthright. The huge green buttons and a user interface that is well designed makes it attractive. Also, it is not burdened with structures such as those of a software based in a desktop. In any way, a person does not require to take a course in order to get started. Finally, their pleasant support is very overwhelming and obliging.

Cons: I had some difficulties adapting to the radical features of this software and it really took me some time to figure out what they really were. The URLs for each invoice are very long and annoying. Flexibility in invoice templates is a little bit poor for instance it offers rates in terms of days instead of hours.

Pros: When you open the software as the name suggests it looks very fresh and have user friendly interface. The buttons keys and icons of the software are also in great and attractive shapes. Coming on the performance of the software I loved the time tracking feature from fresh books. It helps me by tracking my hours. The feature of note section to add entries is also good because we know it¿s easy to describe some of the entries sometimes when they are too specific.

Cons: The freshbooks uses single entry system which is no doubt easy to use for non-accounting people but I think they should add an option of whether you want to use single entry system or double entry system. The goal setting option, metrics feature, and making reports can be enhanced to some extent if this is done than this software can easily compete any of the other software in this league otherwise this is a good reliable and effective software.

Pros: Freshbooks is great for small businesses and people doing self-employed/freelance work. It makes it super easy to track time, expenses, and revenue, as well as send invoices and receive payments. There is also a mobile app to track time and input expenses/receipts on the go. In addition, the expense report and profit and loss make tax season a breeze. Overall, Freshbooks makes accounting straightforward and stress-free.

Cons: You can't have any duplicate invoice numbers, which is very frustrating after an invoice has been deleted. If you delete an invoice and then want to reuse that invoice number (so all your invoices are sequential and not skipping a number), you must undelete the original invoice, change the invoice number, delete it again, and then change your new invoice to the original number. It's just a lot of extra steps that could be avoided if duplicates were allowed only for deleted invoices.

Pros: It's ease of use.

Cons: The mobile view is more restrictive than the laptop UI.

Overall: I absolutely love the Freshbooks experience - as a mom and business owner, I am able to keep my books up to date anytime, anywhere (and I mean anywhere from coffee queues, shopping queues, parking spaces or even during a traffic jam!). I was extremely blown away when I had my baby but had forgotten to update my card details when it expired during my hospital stay - from my hospital suite I was able to comms with Freshbooks who kindly gifted 3 months free premiums and send me a baby blanket to say Congrats. So grateful and so happy with your incredible brand and the innovation you're bringing to this category. Looking forward to the Act 1 invite to update to your new UI. My sister works at Stripe so I'm excited to experience the new API 's :) Keep up the great work and THANK YOU!!

Pros: I'm a web developer, so I'm not very good on the side of finances. Freshbooks made it a lot easier when I was freelancing. It has tons of functionality, the time tracking is just fantastic, and, most importantly, it's very easy to learn because of its great user interface. I couldn't want anything more than this.

Cons: It has no real cons. Just keep in mind that it won't really make all the work for you. It will simply become a tiny bit easier, but that's it, don't expect miracles.

Overall: Don't expect too much - it's just an accounting service, but it's definitely a good one. I could recommend to anyone who hasn't that much experience: freelancers or accountants who just started. FreshBooks is definitely very simple and easy to understand, and I think that's the most important when we're speaking about finances, isn't it?

Pros: I love that I can easily track my time on a project and then later create an invoice that can easily pick up the tracked time. Previously, I was using a time tracking software and Paypal to invoice clients. Utilizing Freshbooks has greatly reduced the time it takes me to invoice clients each month and has made business administration much more productive!

Cons: I currently don't see any downsides to using Freshbooks. Perhaps at first I was a bit disappointed that they no longer offered a free version of the software, but over time, after seeing the value in the service, paying their monthly nominal fee was totally acceptable to me.

Overall: Freshbooks allows me to track time on client projects with ease and convert that tracked time into invoices each month. A HUGE time saver for me!

Comments: I've been using Freshbooks for more than 2 years, and I've had no issues! I would (and have) recommended it to others. I've used other accounting software in the past, and this is by far more intuitive and easy to use. It has a slick interface with easy-to-find options. I'm a sole-proprietor, but have a number of different clients - Freshbooks makes it easy to track my ongoing projects.

Pros: I love how easy it is to track time, projects, clients, and invoice when I'm done, not to mention the reports available. I also like that there's an app so you can see what's going on while you're on the go.

Cons: The way you navigate a few things could be more intuitive - but based on what I've seen, the new version has taken care of most of that.

Recommendations to other buyers: I would definitely try Freshbooks if you are a small- to medium-sized business - there's a 30 day free trial. Once you sign up, I'm sure you won't quit!

Comments: As a small business owner specializing in IT, rather than accounting - Freshbooks has allowed me to grow my business doing what I know best, and bringing accounting functions into an easy to use, easy to understand system. Billing is actually fun now with the time tracker. I can prepare invoices from my mobile device, from anywhere I am, and tracking expenses is comically easy.

Pros: Easy & fun to use Amazing user interface Multiple payment options for customers Ability to mail invoices through the Freshbooks service Ability for my accountant to interface directly with the software 24/7/365 Customer support is fantastic!

Cons: Ticketing system is a little limited No Project Management system

Recommendations to other buyers: I can't recommend Freshbooks enough. Every chance I get to show it off, I do. I've had quite a few friends that also own business switch over to Freshbooks and they too, have never looked back!

Pros: Freshbooks is very useful not only to streamline the procedures related to the management of collections but to have under control everything that has to do with accounting despite not being an expert on the subject since its design is simple and easy to use . You can synchronize with a bank account to automatically track expenses. Being a much easier method than inspecting folders full of receipts. In addition, the service is totally based on the cloud, which means that it is not tied to a specific computer or operating system.

It also allows users to store and store customer information, and track the time employees spend working on each project.

Best of all is its low price in terms of transactions and the application in general.

Cons: Freshbooks does not allow us to make quarterly tax payment estimates, so there is no other way than to calculate them by hand or use a different program to make these estimates on a quarterly basis.

Likewise, there is the limitation of needing an Internet connection, but that is a minor problem nowadays. However, for those times when there is no Wi-Fi or other Internet connection, the possibilities of using it will be nil.

In addition, the basic subscription only allows users to save five customers, something that can be limiting for any business.

Ultimately, the biggest limitation of this software is that it works better or is more suited to small business accounting.

Overall: When I started using this software the records and accounting processes of the company stopped being a big headache, I no longer worry about issuing invoices on time because freshbooks do it for me

Pros: I used to send invoices in Word, and that's just clunky and time-intensive. I love the look and feel of FreshBooks' templates, and that there's an option for clients to view online or for me to download and send a PDF version, which many request. I like that client contact info can be saved for later use, but that's also one of my cons for the level I need (see cons). All of my clients to date still pay by check or ACH, but I like that option of offering credit card payments if I needed. I also like the reminder system that's built in. The interface is easy to use and the dashboard, especially when I have a lot of invoices out, really allows you to see your success -- as in payments coming your way. That simple visualization does a lot to boost a mood!

Cons: I don't feel there's a good level for independent writers in my level of work; I have about 1-3 regular clients per month, but a lot of ONE-TIME projects. So it doesn't make sense for me to upgrade to a higher package, as five total clients in any given month works for me; however, I have to delete -- not just archive -- and add new clients each time. I wish there was a way to have rotating clients that are active in a given time period, or to have a "light" package where we could get more clients, but have bells and whistles we don't need removed (time-tracking, etc.). Sometimes I feel it's a little robust for my needs - just to send and track invoices.

Pros: Ease of use. I can add invoices, pay, and estimate very quickly.

Cons: Sometimes my clients don't get the emails notifications and I have to remove fees and manually adjust invoices. I have a few clients I have to send followup emails to ensure they know about the invoice.

Overall: I've been using FreshBooks for the past four years and love it. FreshBooks integrates with my payroll and project management systems. The only feature I would like is to set late fee terms per client. I have some clients that need net45 and some net30 while other I want to set to net5. I'd also like to see early pay discounts as a feature eventually. I haven't been migrated to the new FreshBooks yet, but everything I see makes me excited!

Recommendations to other buyers: Archiving invoices has been extremely helpful when organizing. Also converting estimates to invoices helps track which estimates were accepted I the case that the client doesn't mark them.

Pros: I like that this is an easy-to-start, easy-to-use cloud-based accounting system. I didn't want to get into a long-term contract and I didn't need ALL the bells and whistles. This gives me the ability to invoice my clients, take online payments on those invoices, and produce a good set of standard financial reports for my business. As a bonus, it connects with my preferred time-tracking software.

Cons: I think if your expectations are set correctly, you shouldn't find too many cons with this product. That being said, when an issue arises, their customer support is right there and able to assist.

Overall: Simple, easy-to-set-up, easy-to-use. I didn't have to purchase expensive software or signup for a service that has way too many bells and whistles than what I need.

Pros: I like the dashboard where I can look at the bottom line quickly and in several easy-to-use formats, such as a bar graph of income vs. expenses, month-by-month, with the net-profit clearly visible. Then there's the color-coded circle graphs that break down revenue and expenses into categories just below. With more traditional accounting reports available at the bottom, such as Profit-and-Loss statements and Accounts Aging.

Cons: The update to the user-experience & UI that took place about 12-18 months ago included a hard stop removal of the ability to use PayPal for your payment processing, necessitating a shift to Freshbooks' payment processor, WePay. It took a bit of getting used to and planning, when I was used to the instant access of payments through my PayPal account and debit card, as WePay takes generally 2-3 business days to get the funds to your bank account.

Overall: As a sole-proprietor with a service-based business, I find Freshbooks to be everything I need for professional and efficient client billing, payment management, and accounting and tax reports without a lot of added frills I don't need.

Comments: I had used FB several years ago (now called Classic). I liked that interface better, and it seems to have more options / flexibility than FreshBooks New. Admittedly, I need training. It is fairly easy to just start using. I hope I can find some of the settings / adjustments buried somewhere.

Pros: Customer service is great. A rep hopped to when I had a question about electronically importing time entries from other programs / files (csv). Unfortunately, FB doesn't currently have that capability (see Con below). The rep offered to, then timely completed, manual copy and paste of some 100 time entries from a csv file into my FB Account. Kudos!

Cons: No integration with either Toggl or TSheets. I had been using those programs for a month or so testing them, and wanted to import those entries into FB. No can do. Those timers seem more robust than the FB Timer. I'd like to use one of them then import into FB. I haven't yet found a Windows app for the Timer. There is an iPhone Timer app. I guess the only way to run a timer when not connected to the 'Net is through the mobile app. It would be nice if the Timer function could be adjusted in 0.1 HR increments (there are "+" and "-" buttons that only increment on 15 minute intervals). Other products also automatically round time captured by the timer to the nearest increment. With FB, it appears that all rounding of time captured to the nearest 0.1 hour must be done manually. Ugh.

More flexibility in setting rates

Overall: I am a big fan of FreshBooks. I used to use a different software and I was constantly getting bogged down in it and forgetting how to do what should have been simple tasks. Then I tried FreshBooks and found it extremely easy and intuitive to use while doing most tasks. When I have occasionally been unsure how to do something, I have called their technical support and have always been impressed. No automated system to go through and the person that answers the phone can actually answer my questions. The software does have a few limitations like I wish the estimate form was more flexible and I wish I could set rates for myself and my subcontractors on a per client basis, but overall it works great for me.

Pros: Simple, easy to use accounting software. Great customer support. I like that I can create automation, from managing follow-ups for account receivables as well as automated monthly billings that generate automatically on their own. I use this typically for my accounts receivables. I like that it manages my follow-ups (such as 30, 60, 90 day notices) and keeps my clients aware of late payments. I also like that I can copy previous invoices and edit to save new ones. I am a solo-preneur, so the more I can automate, the better my life is. I also like the reports I can generate on the fly to see who are my most valuable clients at anytime. Very affordable for my needs. I also like that it interacts with Zapier and I can move client data to and from Freshbooks.

Cons: Really love everything about Freshbooks. No complaints in over 5 years of using this software.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look for what you get and how it can interact with other software. Freshbooks works well in the cloud with Zapier as well as has the ability to export to Quickbooks. Look for systems you can grow with. I started out on the free account, increased as my business increased.

Pros: Freshbooks is the simple way to be more productive, more organized and to get paid faster, we can create and send professional-looking invoices in less than 30 seconds, set up online payments with just a couple of clicks and get paid up to 4 days faster, they've got fully featured mobile apps so we can track our hours, track our expenses, we can do all this stuff on the go and they've got a really cool feature that allows us to see when our client has seen our invoice for the first time to put an end to the back and forth of repeatedly sending again and again.

Cons: Least thing I like about Freshbook is reporting system. Availability of more templates will be very useful so I get to choose from many templates and acceptance of payments from all currency and auto calculation of my currency to USD without any manual calculation.

Pros: Being able to setup automatic late payment reminders + automatically adding late fees added without editing the invoice. Very good customer support. Calling results in getting through very quickly and questions are answered by friendly knowledgeable people. running reports to see which clients are most active, on-time and late payments, as well as being able to add expenses attached to projects so you can see the full profitability of a project. Also, a great feature is being able to add contractors to fill in time sheets AND allowing your accountant to access for tax purposes.

Cons: Unable to customize or edit the invoice (hiding columns). Also, unable to send the invoices & estimates from my own email address so they frequently do not get delivered. Unable to import time-sheets from my other system so I have to manually enter them. If a client has more than one invoice, there's no way for them to pay them both/all in one payment. Each transaction seems to have to be processed separately (if paying online with a CC).

Pros: I love the simplicity and the automatic emails. My clients get reminders to pay, confirmations of the payment, and more. It's very easy to use and I can teach my employees how to start using it fairly quickly!

Cons: There are some technical issues sometimes. The emails go in my clients' spam folders, my Expenses weren't counted for almost a year because of some code issues. But, the customer service rep was very helpful.

Overall: Freshbooks is the best! It makes invoices and estimates so easy to create and set up for clients. It takes a lot of work off my hands and I can be free to do other things. Pros: FreshBooks is an excellent tool that can give you the possibility to visualize the works for each client. It allows adding contacts to customers, employees and employees can collaborate with outgoing invoices this helps us save time. I really like how easy it is to keep track of expenses, payments and invoices. It also lets me know when customers see the invoice. Freshbooks facilitates accounting and does not allow finding solutions to problems that are presented to small business owners, and this is an advantage for us with creative brains that are not traditionally logical. It is extremely good to be able to use FreshBooks from a computer, cell phone or tablet, this allows us to better manage the application. All this has a wonderful FreshBooks application!!.

Cons: They are the errors that they present but in the end they are the errors that have been corrected to improve the application. One of the things I do not like is in areas where it is difficult to connect to the Internet is not so useful that Solo only works with an internet connection. The program does not allow a large number of clients, this means that it is not ideal for businesses that have many clients. It does not have handling for the inventory therefore it is not recommended for the companies that dedicate themselves to sell products.

Comments: I left QB for Freshbooks (FB) after my accountant recommended them and I have looked back. The are the industry leader in my book (pun intended). The fact that I can call any time and have a real person answer the phone to help me is key to my success. The reps are well versed, super professional and fun. It used to take me 2 hours to do my invoicing, but now with the FB timers both online and on my devices, I am able to clock my time and project anywhere and it is all there at my fingertips on invoicing day, which now takes me about 10-15 minutes. Boom! Done!

Pros: The app is great, they check in on you periodically, you can speak to a person right away, no automated system, you can link your credit cards and bank accounts to the FB account so all your expenses, etc are automatically logged.

Cons: Can't think of anything right now.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try it out for their 30 day program. Once I did it, I never looked back. They even extended my trial period because I started it in the middle of a billing cycle. You won't regret it!

Pros: I love how easy it is to use. It is simple, efficient and very clear. Its design, platform and functionality are very gradable. Really, it makes my job much easier and it helps me save a lot of time. Of all the accounting software that I have used so far is the best. FreshBooks offers a simple but efficient way to manage the accounting and administration of the company.

Cons: I believe that the establishment of objectives was a bit more precise. Otherwise, I consider the software its a very high quality, safe, simple and very efficient product that has helped us a lot in the company.

Overall: I really like to have so many options in one place (invoicing, tracking of expenses and payments, administration of activities, creation of reports, among others) in a simple way to use. In truth, it helps to manage time very efficiently. The software allows you to complete tasks faster and more organized.

Pros: Easy to use and easy to navigate admin area. Makes it a breeze for creating invoices. Also supports recurring payments, which many other invoicing software does not offer. Freshbooks also offers a lot of 3rd party integrations to other software you may use, such as accounting and CRM integrations.

Cons: While they provide basic bookkeeping software, it is really underwhelming. They currently use single entry accounting methods which do not align with most other accounting software like Quickbooks or Xero.

Overall: Easy to use and very reliable invoicing software. Has just enough featured to work without overwhelming you with features you don't need. This is the go-to software if you need great invoicing software.

Pros: The best thing about FreshBooks is that with a little extra work you can keep the service completely free, even if you have hundreds of contacts. After your trial period, the software switches you to the free version. The free version only allows you to have 1 contact, BUT if you delete that contact you can create a new contact. What most people don't know is that FreshBooks keeps all your deleted contacts and allows you to "undelete" them. SO, all you have to do is "undelete" the contact you wish to create invoices for. Yes, it's a lot of extra work, but it's totally free :)

Cons: It's WAY overpriced for (freelancers)! FreshBooks charges you more based on the amount of clients you have. As a freelancer this is ridiculous, because I have tons of new clients constantly coming on board . This makes no sense to me.

Pros: When you have a small software company or any service between a group of workers or staff and you want a simple way to bill customers, FreshBooks becomes exactly what we need, this billing service that runs in the cloud is easy. install and use, and it is relatively cheap.

Cons: It does not have all the features to automate or carry finances, many things that are necessary are missing and if you want to offer the complete package you must add them, to complement it you should use a separate software.

Overall: The automation of billing to customers is excellent, avoid forgetting to charge a customer and provides unique templates if you want for each one, where you can add your logo and customize them to a high level

Pros: It's hard to justify any expense as a startup on a shoestring budget. Starting plan is very less for recurring billing up to 5 clients. There is a trial period, but sometimes you just need a lot longer of a period to get the business off the ground. For example, and I've moved a little slow, I started in Dec and just now in Apr got my final inspection approved. Would have liked to be able to build this platform into my business practice, but that would have been in my expenses for limited use. Anyway, product is not bad by any means, good features, very comparable to QuickBooks, but not free like Wave, although I do like the features of Freshbooks better than Wave.

Cons: Not really a full accounting program and the expenses tab leaves something to be desired. My accountant still have to do much work.

Pros: It allows users to save and store customer information, and track the time employees spend working on each project. This can help you make informed business decisions and make your business more efficient. Have you noticed that you are spending too much time on a low budget project? Maybe it's time to let go of that line or reconsider the price.

You can synchronize with a bank account to automatically track expenses. This is a much easier method than inspecting folders full of receipts. The service is totally cloud-based, which means you're not tied to a specific computer or operating system. However, this also means that you need an Internet connection to use the software. In the days of free WiFi and mobile hotspots, this is probably not a problem.

Cons: When it comes to using FreshBooks for your online accounting, I can only think of a few drawbacks: in particular, FreshBooks does not allow you to make quarterly tax payment estimates, so you'll have to calculate them by hand or use a different program.

Overall: FreshBooks allows users to store and store customer information, and track the time employees spend working on each project. Pros: It is a very useful application to manage your finances, make charges, have your bills up to date, manage payments of services, have in one place your income and expenses and more, I love especially in my area of systems and IT is required have a collection order to each, depending on the system or the client are handled different hours of work, freshbooks allows you to handle this easily and quickly, being extremely useful in the financial aspect of your small business or if you work alone, it is very good and easy to use, it helps you maintain a financial order and knowing how to manage your money with it is easy.

Cons: It is difficult to find something bad in the application, I think the main thing is the calculation of taxes that must be done manually, this is what they should improve since it is different for each country and a configuration for this aspect should be implemented, as for the Cost depends on what you need and know how to choose the plan that suits your business.

Overall: The benefit is great, it allows you to manage the financial area of your company or yours easily, without being a professional in the area, it is perfect for freelancers or small / medium companies.

Pros:

Cons: The application is not available in Spanish, and although that helps me to practice my English, it is a limitation in terms of the total comprehension of the application. Also the internet service in my country is slow but that is another topic that escapes from its hands.

Overall: The most notable benefit is the administration of my business, from freshbooks I control expenses, I send invoices to my clients and everything from my mobile phone, ah and the autollenado of menus is excellent.

Pros: I love that I am able to keep an accurate record of all financial activity that I use for my business. Each client has easy access to their information and we can all be on the same page. I also appreciate the value in being able to view the details of activity with a chart.

Cons: I currently do not have any complaints. I am always able to utilize the features effectively each time that I log in.

Overall: The features of this software provide me with the assurance that many repetitive actions that I don't always have the time to do are already completed and recorded. Thats important to a business owner involved in multiple tasks. I dont have to worry about if I forgot to send an email, its already done!

Pros: The easy of use

Cons: Sometimes it can be slow to load certain pages

Overall: I don't need a whole lot of bells and whistles for my accounting software, so instead of messing with some of the more complex systems, I decided to give FreshBooks a try. It's a perfect fit for my business. It lets me track time, send invoices, collect payments, and more. But those are the main features I use. They also have some awesome reports that I can send to my accountant. At times, it can be a little slow, but for the most part, you can beat FreshBooks for the value and the service. Their customer support team is super friendly too. If simplicity is most important, give them a try.

Recommendations to other buyers: It's not as complex as other tools, so if you're running a very complex business, it might not be ideal. But for simple freelancer businesses like mine, it's perfect.

Comments: I'm a freelance writer and content strategist, and I'll usually be wrangling at least five clients and multiple client projects at any given time. Freshbooks makes it easy to keep it all under control. I use it to track my time, send detailed invoices, and track payment.

I originally used Solo (thrivesolo.com) to track time and invoice clients, but I moved over to Freshbooks in 2013 because it offered a couple of key features: 1) the ability to archive and de-archive clients and projects to keep my active workspace as clutter-free as possible and 2) the ability to pull up any unbilled hours to make sure I hadn't forgotten to invoice for billable work.

Freshbooks is pricier than some of the other small business billing software out there, but for me, it's worth the extra cost for ease of use and EXCELLENT customer service.

Pros:

the use of accounting software for small businesses forces it to keep up with the entry and permanence of current data.

View customer information, expenses or invoices, Track billable time with a built-in timer and Improve your company's finances

Cons:

I am not a supporter of the reporting function, although it is functional, it does not allow enough flexibility that a diverse consultant like me would (need) have. There are several reporting functions for each main function (Accounting, Customers, Billing and Time Tracking). But no option for custom reports, which I often need as my diverse range of clients, has different processes, configurations, etc. At the very least, I would like to be able to customize the integrated reports at some level. I have not found a supplement to help me with this point of pain.

Overall:

offers cloud-based accounting solutions for small business owners. It is designed for owners of the types of small customer service businesses that send invoices to customers and pay them for their time and experience.

Pros: FreshBooks budgeting software allows you to manage and supervise your invoices, expenses and time spent. It basically runs on its own. As an accountant in a financial institution, this is the software I mostly recommend to my colleagues who are planning a start-up business. It is easily learned and mastered. Time-tracking is a simple yet very useful feature as well. The software is overall easy to manage and use.

Cons: The greatest problem of this software is with the app, it is a little behind its time and needs further improvements. But it is a very minor setback since the software works greatly on Macs and desktops.

Pros: When I started using Freshbooks I was impressed with the ability to send mail with just a click. Some clients just want a printed invoice. The second reason I picked freshbooks was because of how automated it made things. I can setup reoccurring invoices with auto pay from a credit card. It can also put on late fees and send reminder emails for late invoices.

Cons: It does not email a pdf, it sends a link. This is nice so clients can see a history as well as the invoice but when someone asks for just the invoice I have to login, download the pdf and then send it via email.

Overall: Easy to use and get started. Automated payments and invoices.

Pros: Automatic billing and their in-house payment processing are definitely the stars of the show. The clean invoicing, easy to use options, and simple setup make getting up and running a breeze. Time tracking is competent, and also has a nice timer that can be activated and runs in real time.

Cons: Project management is almost non-existent to go along with the time tracking. Could also do with more invoice templates. New beta version should be adding more project management and document sharing though.

Overall: Ease of use and ability to get up and running quickly were the most important. We also benefited from automatic billing. It's safe, secure, and simple to use.

Pros: - Ease of use for us and the customer

- Ability for users to quickly login and see outstanding invoices

- Ability to track revenue, expenses, and time

- Quickly follow up with bounced payments by re-running at a click of a link.

Cons: - A little more granularity on permission levels between users would be helpful.

- The inability to break out payments in multiple stages would be great. The down payment option helps, but it's not very intuitive.

Overall: FreshBooks has become part of our every day agency life. Every single invoice, recurring payment, and estimate is run through the software. We rely on it to integrate with our payment gateway and merchant accounts seamlessly.

Pros: Before Freshbooks, we always had to update all our financial activities on Google spreadsheet and then customize a spreadsheet for each client ,send it to the client every week with a pretty long email ; explaining the content of the spreadsheet.

Not to talk about time spent responding to queries from customers trying to answer questions about content of each spreadsheet.

Freshbooks changed all of that.Apart from saving us about 80% of manpower and resource usually directed towards accounting and billing ;it also greatly reduced the need of followup emails explaining billing issues as Freshbooks basically placed the company and its clients on the same page.

Cons: I think Freshbooks was a bit tedious to understand in the first few weeks ; also the user interface needs to be much more self explanatory that it currently is.Probably not a really big problem ,but just the only "con" I can think about right now.

Pros: The best thing about this application is the time saving in the more routine tasks of a manager (in my case), it allows you to schedule payments, generate invoices, payment, with several options when generating invoices, create accounts to clients, the calculation of taxes and deductions are perfect, it saves you a lot of time that you can use for more essential things for the growth of your business, it has many more advantages that I recommend you try for yourself and fall in love with this powerful tool.

Cons: It is difficult to find weak points of this applications, since it is very complete in everything it offers, I think its weak point could be the mobile application, I think it requires a little more development to become optimal.

Pros: Whenever you start a business or want to work as a freelancer, you do not consider how important it is to have advice and financial support, when you create the client portfolio and you have to handle billing, collections, expenses and other things, as you create in your business, this starts to get complicated, when I'm looking for solutions and I found one of the best ones, FreshBooks, helped me a lot with this, creating personalized invoices for clients, adding logo, managing expenses and profits, alerts of collection, there were many solutions that brought me and helped me to concentrate again on the development and creation of software, really help me and I know what will be done with you, so try it.

Cons: Something is missing that is essential and is that you can make the charges directly, could even venture into creating a digital wallet or something like that, but for now you can use it in sync with paypal or something similar for an automated charge.

Comments: I have never been a big fan of accounting, or the software. I hated one software only being for PC's, especially when I work between a PC and a MAC. With Freshbooks I have options to work from wherever, as it's cloud based - along with my phone. It's easier than ever to keep tabs on the expenses with automatic importing from your bank account. Most importantly it makes it easy to add a copy of your receipt to the expense in the unlikely event of an audit.

Pros: - Ease of billing - Clients think it's easy - Can accept CC or Cash - Can send paper bills - Clients can log in to check their account

Cons: - The CC fees are a little high - No where to upload contracts to get signed.

Comments: Before Freshbooks, I had no system. I had spreadsheets for expenses, but never kept them up to date. Reciepts were chucked where ever, and usually lost. I created invoices in Word or Excel - generating them from scratch each time. Tax time was a nightmare. I was so disorganised that I usually ended up not claiming any expenses for my arts work because finding and recording all the info was too overwhelming. Freshbooks totally changed the way I saw managing my arts endeavours. In Freshbooks, I can quickly generate quotes, invoices, track time and expenses. It is so easy and so lovely to use that I can't believe anyone wouldn't want to use it.

Pros: -The iPad app is beautiful and allows you to snap photos of receipts, saving them straight to the cloud. -The people who work there are clearly awesome. -You can create projects with time budgets and generate invoices from time entries. -You can customise the colours and logos even on the free plan. -Freshbooks integrates with tons of other applications (Google Apps, Xero, Basecamp etc). -There are real people available to help you and they actually respond to emails! -You can add people as sub-contractors and create teams to track time/ projects/ billing.¿¿¿¿

Pros: With a simple design and so many functions this tool allows to manage all the contability of your own businnes, whether you are a businessman or a freelancer. Is an application in the cloud which you can handle clients all over the world, no matter location, language, or even currency, because it manages a big range of international currencies. Freshbooks allos to save time and speed up some taks like billing or clients registration. This tools manage automatically or your clients, with an autofilling of a new billing, can calculate the taxes and discount of evert transaction that you do. Another features to considerate with the use of this tool it is the speed of the payments, the easy way of create a personal billing with the name and logo of your business, and the remote access via iOS or Android with the app that you can manage your contability in your phone or tablet.

Cons: The price it is maybe on of the big restrictions, if you cannot afford a payment of the Premium package you can have some limitations like the number of clients, condition that in some cases can be a limitation for your business. Another restriction, maybe this specifically associate to the calculation of quarterly taxes, that you can handle in you own way or wih another software.

Overall: With not so many experience in the use of administration and accounting tools, this one it was very friendly and easy to use, the interphase it is very simple and intuitive, and you can virtually to businees with people all over the world, because it allows many international currencies. Pros: FreshBooks is a cloud-based application that allows users to keep track of finances. Probably the best feature of this software is the ability to take a picture of my receipts, which will automatically be uploaded and tracked. Timesheet and invoice data can be transferred as well to allow automatic tracking of expenses. The cloud-based nature of the application means data is secured on a private server and thus safe from wandering eyes. Essentially, this product automates many of the processes behind payroll and invoicing. Where before you would crunch the numbers yourself to check potential deficits, now FreshBooks can deliver that information for you.

Cons: Obviously FreshBooks is most convenient and accessible when a credit/debit card is linked. Unfortunately, this is also where the biggest and buggiest con occurs. Namely, the application will attempt to automatically calculate expenditures - and it doesn't always do so correctly. Namely, purchasing textbooks can amount to a pretty hefty cost and could likely get marked as a business expense for some reason, resulting in an incorrect total at the end of the month. While this can be accounted for by changing some of the rules, it would be ideal to just link and mark expenses myself.
