It fits my current needs. Though as I scale up, it may start to show its weaknesses towards larger focused businesses. Pros I use freshbooks to generate invoices and collect online payments for my small business. It’s incredibly easy to use and didn’t take long to learn. I was able to get up and running quickly. My clients have also responded positively to it and appreciate how clean and professional the invoices look. They’ve mentioned that the format is straightforward and easy to understand, which makes the whole payment process smoother. Cons I've had a few issues with utilizing the reporting metrics. Then the software came along and miraculously placed all of that paper into virtual files without blowing up. My accountant no longer yells at me. Pros The invoicing generator didn’t freeze, nor blow up my PC on my first usage. While the user interface sucks, there are some things you like about it and it is better than most when it comes to creating an invoice. Cons The mobile application freezes constantly. Customer service took 72 hours to respond to an issue i had regarding a double charge on my credit card for the same month of a monthly subscription option that i never selected. It was easy to send links to clients and they were able to pay online. It was relatively affordable for what I was using it for. I liked that it generated yearly forms for my earnings and showed me what I earned month to month. It was clean and easy to navigate. I also liked that it tracks expenses for me and I can link my cards to it to automatically track. I wish I could have had more clients for the price I was paying Cons I wish I could've saved clients' CC info and ran billing myself as opposed to having to send a link to clients to get them to sign in and pay. This made it harder to make sure everyone paid on time. That whole process used to take me an entire evening staring at spreadsheets. Its interface is friendly such that I never feel out of my element even on the financial front. Pros Student payments become tracked and expenses are contained and do not accrue at the end of each month. With FreshBooks, I can now genuinely keep track of that whole process without fear of it. I also use Freshbooks to track all business expenses, including software, contractors, rent, etc. Pros There are several things to like about freshbooks: creating consistent invoices, the ease of setting up a client, quick status reports for performance and outstanding invoices, and the simplicity of having employee expenses inputted are all faciliated in an easy, clean interface. Cons Unfortunately, once you get to a certain point in billings, you need to reconcile with other tools for accountants to access what they need. This year, Freshbooks (or Quickbooks more likely) took away the ability to integrate into QuickBooks which has caused us to stop using Freshbooks after 15+ years. May 28, 2025 5.0 Accounting systems like FreshBooks allow you to be paid online, faster, and it helps your business look professional -- from branded proposals (estimates) to invoicing. Every touchpoint with client, matters. FreshBooks has a couple of plans that are completely affordable. $15/mo for 5 clients. $25 for 50 clients. I was on the $25/mo plan (actually billed monthly) for 4 years. It's seriously a great product. Are you worried about credit card fees? No problem. Add 3% more to your pricing to account for the payment gateway fees (PayPal, Stripe, WePay, etc). You can even connect FreshBooks to your bank for ease of expenses and export profit and loss (P&L) statements. There's really no reason why you should still be doing your accounting on Google Sheets. I have a tutorial on how to set up FreshBooks. \[sensitive content hidden\] Pros My favorite part of FreshBooks was how easy it was to get started. The payment tiers are very fair. Sending out professional invoices and statements instead of Excel sheets or Google Docs sends the right message to your clients. It also allows you to send professional quotes.
