It fits my current needs. Though as I scale up, it may start to show its weaknesses towards larger focused businesses. Pros I use freshbooks to generate invoices and collect online payments for my small business. It’s incredibly easy to use and didn’t take long to learn. I was able to get up and running quickly. My clients have also responded positively to it and appreciate how clean and professional the invoices look. They’ve mentioned that the format is straightforward and easy to understand, which makes the whole payment process smoother. Cons I've had a few issues with utilizing the reporting metrics. Pros Freshbooks is inexpensive and i have never had any problems with it. I used it for 3 yrs then switched to quickbooks online and regretted it. I am switching back this yr. Cons I had the cheapeat version and had to tyoe all the info from the receipts in mannually. I am going to look into a uograded version because qbooks messed my books up and was so expensive. It is very easy to use and gets you started as you are launching your business. The value is definetly there for the price. Pros Ease of use is there for FreshBooks. It does a great job in capturing the basics of what you need to run your business. The platform provides good value for your money depending on what you need it for. Cons Certain accounting functions can be tricky to do due to the simplicity of how the plantforms runs and the lack of customization. Certain modules can be added on, the basic package is good for just getting your business started. I also use Freshbooks to track all business expenses, including software, contractors, rent, etc. Pros There are several things to like about freshbooks: creating consistent invoices, the ease of setting up a client, quick status reports for performance and outstanding invoices, and the simplicity of having employee expenses inputted are all faciliated in an easy, clean interface. Cons Unfortunately, once you get to a certain point in billings, you need to reconcile with other tools for accountants to access what they need. This year, Freshbooks (or Quickbooks more likely) took away the ability to integrate into QuickBooks which has caused us to stop using Freshbooks after 15+ years. We just outgrew it as our billings increased substantially, but it was great for a really long time. The invoices are important. I would like the expense portion to be more user friendly. Pros I like the ease of use and integration with gusto. It imports expenses from credit cards and banks. It invoices really well and I like the set-up of the invoice system. Cons I have been unsuccessful in having full account reconciliation and struggle with the system they have set up. I also am unsuccessful in getting my frequent purchases to get expensed to the same categories and companies each month. FreshBooks helps maintain my billing, my expenses and my cash flow without having to hire an accountant to answer every question. Its interface is friendly such that I never feel out of my element even on the financial front. Pros Student payments become tracked and expenses are contained and do not accrue at the end of each month. With FreshBooks, I can now genuinely keep track of that whole process without fear of it. Cons Experienced two instances of annoying sync bug in transaction management in a quarter. In a small education facility where each payment counts, the unwarranted variances cause one to be anxious. May 28, 2025 5.0 Accounting systems like FreshBooks allow you to be paid online, faster, and it helps your business look professional -- from branded proposals (estimates) to invoicing. Every touchpoint with client, matters. FreshBooks has a couple of plans that are completely affordable. $15/mo for 5 clients. $25 for 50 clients. I was on the $25/mo plan (actually billed monthly) for 4 years. It's seriously a great product. Are you worried about credit card fees? No problem. Add 3% more to your pricing to account for the payment gateway fees (PayPal, Stripe, WePay, etc). You can even connect FreshBooks to your bank for ease of expenses and export profit and loss (P&L) statements. There's really no reason why you should still be doing your accounting on Google Sheets. I have a tutorial on how to set up FreshBooks. \[sensitive content hidden\] Pros My favorite part of FreshBooks was how easy it was to get started. The payment tiers are very fair. Sending out professional invoices and statements instead of Excel sheets or Google Docs sends the right message to your clients. It also allows you to send professional quotes. FreshBooks also does an impressive work in financial reporting which help keep up with our financial health and operations. Using FreshBooks is so straightforward and no technical skills are required making the learning period very brief. It also help setup automated payment reminders which makes our work easy when reminding clients to make their payments. I liked how easy it was to send proposals, convert them to estimates or invoices, and schedule payments. The ability to track the profitability of each project by accounting for labour and other expenses is very handy too. Cons For solopreneurs, it's expensive for what it does. Pros The interface is unbelievably clean, and with little training, we are able to track expenses associated with case such as flight tickets and medical equipment. Cons Occasionally the version has been changed to add or remove some important features without notice, and occasionally the mobile app fails to upload receipts when out of the office. September 10, 2025 1.0 Customer support is horrible. They won't answer you, just give you pre written responses. Not sure why. Pros It worked well until they shut my account down with no explanation. I highly recommend keeping your data elsewhere. They won't give access to it. Cons They shut my account down and didn't explain why and started ignoring my emails. I am in waterproofing and I've been creating quotes just fine during the free trial and a few days after I paid they shut my account down and wouldn't tell me why or give a refund. I put lots of time into getting all those quotes migrated onto the system and now I have to start again on a different app. I wouldn't recommend for small businesses that don't have their data in multiple places coz finding all the quotes I've sent is gonna take a while. I had used them for another business that had 2-3 transactions a month for over 2 years so I felt comfortable using them for this new business that had more transactions. I was wrong to have done so.
