### "Clean UI and solid for scale, but pricey and not great support"

March 3, 2026

4.0

Before using Lever, we were relying on spreadsheets and a mix of disconnected tools to track candidates, which created a lot of noise and manual work. Lever solved the core problem of centralizing candidate data and hiring activity in 1 place, which immediately reduced coordination overhead. Having a single system made collaboration between recruiters and hiring managers much smoother, w/o constant back-and-forth or status updates. The built-in automations, particularly around follow-ups and routine tasks, removed a significant amount of admin work from the recruiting process. As a result, the team is more organized, spends less time managing processes, and more time on high-value work like candidate conversations and decision-making.

Pros

We use Lever as our ATS in a fast-moving, scaling environment where speed of setup and adoption were important. One of its biggest strengths is how clean and intuitive the interface is. Onboarding time was minimal, which mattered bc we needed to move quickly, and the initial setup didn’t require much external support. Lever became a core ops tool for us and is used daily. The customizable workflows and automations are particularly helpful when dealing with higher hiring volume, as they reduce manual coordination and help keep processes consistent across roles and teams. The LI integration works smoothly in practice, and the in-app support chat is useful for resolving small, tactical questions w/o slowing the team down. Overall, it provides enough structure and visibility to keep hiring on track without adding unnecessary complexity.

Cons

Customer support feels more reactive than proactive in our experience. Outside of renewal cycles, there is limited ongoing engagement, which makes the relationship feel transactional rather than advisory. Pricing can also be a constraint for smaller or earlier-stage teams. While the core product is strong, some advanced capabilities, particularly around reporting, come at an additional cost that may not be accessible to all teams, like ours. Finally, the latest analytics layout is difficult to use in practice. Getting to the data needed for day-to-day decision-making isn't always intuitive, and reporting requires more effort than expected unless you invest in higher-tier options.

### "Lever, easy to use, easy to collaborate"

November 13, 2025

5.0

Lever provided our team with a great degree of communication, whether that was internally or externally, which played a crucial role in our recruitment processes.

Pros

Lever was very compatible with our teams outside of HR and recruiting, hiring managers were easy to collaborate with through Lever's features and interface. Overall, Lever was easy to use, even for those who were not trained on the platform.

Cons

Lever comes with some quirks with implementation, and there are certain features like filtering that I would like to see when considering the value for what you pay.

### "Lever for job postings"

February 21, 2026

4.0

My company uses Lever to post open job positions for internal and external applicants and for applications.

Pros

It's quite simple to use and the interface is very straightforward. There are filters that you can use to filter the job postings by location, department, work type, etc. The application form is easy to pre-fill by uploading a CV. We also use it for our internal referral program.

Cons

The interface is too simple and a bit bland. I would add more design on the page. Otherwise, it has all the main functionality.

### "Lever Should Integrate with HRIS systems Better"

May 8, 2025

3.0

It is okay. I can review the feedback notes, send rejection emails from the system. I like that it integrates with Recruitbot which helps with scraping information from the web on candidates.

Pros

I like that is tit serves a repository of information and allows for you to easily archive your candidates

Cons

I do not like that it is a standalone and does not integrate with Paycor or Paycom. This causes duplicity with entries. I also do not like that you cannot include additional documents such as health benefits information along with the offer letters. It only allows the offer to go out

Support staff has been great, lightweight ATS that covers everything you want 1) Candidate and Job management, sourcing, integration with email/calendar, and sequencing emails

Pros

Ease of use, integrates well with scheduling/calendaring, candidate management, job posting integration to the site.

Cons

My experience is from the interviewer perspective. the app does little more then display a resume and allow for feed back notes.

Pros

Lever is pretty straightforward to use. Its function is to display the resume of candidates for a job offer

### "Great privacy and data compliance. to be reviewed unified pipeline concept, it is very uneuseful when you hire different roles in different countries"

November 5, 2024

4.0

Pros

What we appreciated most about Lever is its flexibility in data and privacy management, adapting well to the specific requirements of different countries.

Cons

However, the unified pipeline presents challenges, as it forces us to include certain steps only relevant in specific regions. This setup requires HR to manually manage candidate movement through each stage, as delegating this to hiring managers could lead to confusion with steps unique to certain countries, potentially complicating the hiring process.

### "Lever ATS Review"

September 20, 2024

4.0

Overall, I have had a good experience with Lever, however, it leaves a lot to be desired compared to the other more modern Applicant Tracking Systems out there.

Pros

I like Lever because of its ease of use. It's also great for bulk candidate management, especially for those who handle volume roles. It also has integration with a lot of job boards which leads to a good flow of applicants.

Cons

The reporting module is not the greatest, we have had to integrate it with another app for reports. It also lacks a lot of automation, which can be a downside for busy recruiters.

Pros

I think the ease of use is great with Lever, able to have hiring manager review / move candidates along while using the reporting aspect of it to showcase your work. Also the integration part is great as it can integrate with various platform like Hired.com, HireEZ, and of course GEM for sourcing.

### "Lever is a Great ATS for Any Start-up! "

July 12, 2022

4.0

Over the last 9 years I've used Lever, Greenhouse, Workable, Taleo, Breezy, and Jobvite. Lever is hands-down my number 1 pick for its ease of use, its user interface, countless integrations, and efficient workflow. Lever has also been improving their reporting and analytics making their software a perfect fit for any start-up from a 10 person pre-series A to a 400 person series D/E company.

Pros

Lever was easy to implement (I had it up and running in less than 24 hours), the career page can be integrated with your current website quickly, the scorecards are fully customizable, and the ATS does a nice job at tracking candidates throughout the process.

Cons

At the moment, a user cannot edit the interview stages without submitting a ticket to Lever. I hope they change this in the near future.

### "Does the job on the budget. If you have $ go with a more expensive one. "

March 11, 2023

4.0

Overall 4/5. There are things that I would change but as I said it does the job. At the end of the day, it is all a question of your usage, your team, the scale of the business, and ofc your budget. Lever is a great solution if you have a small team under 10 recruiters, company size under 1k, and a small budget to operate with. If you know how to run scrappy and get things done, Lever is a solid choice.

Pros

Simple.Intuitive. Extremely easy to onboard new recruiters and get them up to speed. All the basic functionality to run a quick process is there. Not expensive - for the price point I would say delivers a lot of value.

Cons

Not innovative. They accept feedback - but nothing gets implemented. Even simple things that should take no time. I wish they were listening to the customers who are using the product every day - we want to help and make Lever better.

### "Painful enough to leave my first review on anything work related"

November 30, 2022

2.0

Based on the above am clearly not very happy. That said, I have only used Lever and Greenhouse (which is far far better). I feel like some negative grump leaving this review, but in 4 months I have wasted hours trying to get feature requests, figuring simple things out like specific plans for certain roles, only to find it literally isn't an option.I feel like they have given up on this, it could be so much better, get a small team with proper UI/UX skills and it could be a really good ATS.

Pros

It looks ok, isn't slow, I like the font.Customer service is actually good (although feature requests don't get completed).

Cons

No point in listing everything or I'll be here for days, I've already flagged them as feature requests months ago and not heard anything back. This ATS, whilst fast and not completely useless is just so painful in so many ways, the amount of illogical UX/UI that has been put into this is baffling - the main outstanding one being that jobs and candidates are kept in separate channels... what!?- Can't format feedback forms.- Any interview plan you set up is duplicated across ALLjobs.. you can't have specific plans for specific roles, are you kidding me right?- Can't turn off email notifications for reminding to submit feedback, even though there is a notification options in settings (missing the option).- When you are rejecting/archiving people if you type out an email and accidentally click off it's all deleted and does not save, this happens with other parts as well (if you just send a norma email it does save).- Want to return to the candidate after leaving feedback? You have to open a new tab.- Scheduling feels like someone doing A level comp science has built it, basic and not efficient. - No customisation settings - sorry, deal with the grey, bleak looking system (other than the font).- Don't get me started on the analytics, it's so poor.

### "Vast improvement in the automation of our young, growing tech company's hiring process"

May 1, 2017

5.0

Pros

I love its seamless integration with the tools we most use--Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Abacus, and Docusign. It has made our entire hiring process more seamless as a result. For applicants, it provides a more professional, personalized (if templated!) experience than what our young company had previously afforded. For our People Operations department (of one) it has vastly improved our organization of resumes. Previously, I received from multiple sources (hand-delivered resumes, forwarded emails of resumes, dozens of job boards) often receiving resumes from people who were not directly involved with the hiring process. Lever has helped keep the channels of communication open between varying levels of involvement, equipping team members to track at the distance that makes the most sense for them. Furthermore, it has renewed energy throughout the company regarding our democratic hiring process. It is helpful that all team members can refer candidates more easily to the wider team, and that they can see all of their feedback forms/interviews in once place. The Slack reminders regarding feedback prove helpful since so much of our work is carried out via Slack. I also very much enjoyed the implementation process with Phil. He made clear that there is no dumb question. He was consistently friendly, and empathetic when there were obstacles in the implementation. He had a great way of allowing me to train by doing instead of training by sight.

Cons

I look forward to the tool having more options in terms of auto-text/mail-merge. For example, it would be great if email templates had some options for dates and times. I also wish that it were possible to add multiple locations to a particular posting. I created a location called "Multiple Locations," but it'd be nice to have more specific cities listed. Perhaps I'm missing something though and this is an option. I'm still very young in my use of this tool. I also wish that the workflow process could be manipulated by super admins. If ever we need to make an edit to the workflows, we will need to contact Lever's support team. I have no doubt they will be responsive. I simply wish we were empowered to customize this ourselves as needs change. It'd be great if each department could customize their own flow for their different hiring processes. Also, the cost was nearly prohibitive for our small company. I was glad that the team worked with us on this. I trust that if we can expand its use across departments (instead of the initially approved Client Success team), the company will see its full value. Right now it's a bit costly for our 1-person People Ops 'team' in its primary focus on Client Success hires. I think to get full use out of this platform, we would need a full-time recruiter--possibly using the Teamable and LinkedIn Recruiter integrations that Lever affords.

### "Lever is the best ATS i've ever used!"

December 14, 2023

5.0

It's been an awesome experience from purchase to implementation. I love using it daily! It's a great tool that allows me to do my job efficiently and effectively as a recruiter.

Pros

The implementation was great. We had a very clear plan, direction and the weekly meetings were a bright spot in our weeks. The system was easy to use, customize and implement! Recruiter experience - we can save time by utilizing our job posting and candidate templates. We can leverage utilizing multiple locations on job postings. Being able to duplicate job postings is a huge efficiency add. Having the opening and closing statements for postings is also a win. As for sifting through applicant traffic, the archive + email functionality (especially the delay email!) is huge in staying on top of all applicants that apply.

Cons

It's more on our end - our security team is very small and they weren't able to grant clearance to utilize Lever with the sync functionality. Being limited in this way limits our level of efficiency of use within the system.

Reason for choosing Lever

Ease of use, recruiter efficiency, reporting

### "Intuitive, Effective, Innovative."

December 30, 2017

4.0

Bottom line: In my opinion, Lever is the best ATS out there. Beats its competitors by at least a mile. Keep up the great work!

Pros

\- Scheduling interviews have never been easier for our Talent Team. Our conference rooms are linked to Lever so we can do everything without checking Google Calendar! - Easy to use interface. Every tab, page, and profile is very user-friendly, with the recruiter/hiring manager in mind. - Sending candidates a link to schedule their phone interview cuts down on the back and forth. - Communication between approvers, hiring managers and interviewing team is ridiculously easy that even my mom can use Lever. - Automatic job posting to external job boards. Super easy to use for niche job boards as well! - The referral system is super easy for folks who don't use Lever on a daily basis. - Customizable application per posting. SUPER easy. I love this feature. - Reports are very easy to pull and read. - Recruiters have control over who they involve in the hiring process. Before when we didn't have Lever, all hiring managers had access to every single job posting and its applicants in front of them. Now, we assign them to specific jobs they own. They can't see anything else. - Lever Extension on Chrome is insane, in a very good way. Extremely helpful when you're sourcing candidates on LinkedIn! - Andrew is great. Always there when we had questions and always willing to hop on a call with us. - Implementation phase was super quick and simple. The Lever team did whatever we asked and in turn, we did whatever they asked.

Cons

\- Requisition approval needs fine tuning. When we decide to hire internally for a requisition that has already been approved, we have to delete the current req and add another one indicating it was an internal hire in order for us to report on the number of internal hires. There's very little you can do with a req once it's been approved without getting the approvers involved again. - Offer approval is backward, in my opinion. The letter should be drafted first, then sent out to the approvers for their review. Right now, it's approval first, then offer letter draft. - Referrals are counted as "applicants" and not "leads." That's crazy to me. - Once a lead has applied through our careers website, we have to manually move them from the lead bucket to the applicant bucket. There's no automatic transfer. No notification, either.
