SANSymphony also makes failover between arrays easy and very convenient when we have to perform maintenance on them. Pros SANSymphony provides the redundancy and stability we need in our 24/7 environment, and it does so flawlessly. We need reliability and SanSymphony delivers Cons While the product does work as advertised, initial implementation was not without its challenges. To be fair, we did have a very complex environment with 6 different arrays so this was not unexpected. It helps in creating software defined storage environments for VDI environments which can provide optimization of storage by combing SSDs and HDD which gives you auto tiering option especially for hyper-v environments. Cons Works well with Windows Hyper-v however on other hypervisor platforms DataCore SAN Symphony is not a suitable option and licenses are also expensive which basically depends on the amount of storage being considered for virtualization. It's very well designed by a great group of people and supported by a dedicated and intelligent group Cons Datacore does a bad job of marketing themselves, unfortunately. Add to that the fact that the software cost is high relative to many competitors and the fact that it's a much easier prospect to go with an appliance based storage vendor from a management standpoint (not a cost perspective). Pros- Their product is hardware agnostic, so you are never locked in to a particular vendor. The company's storage virtualization software empowers organizations to seamlessly manage and scale their data storage architectures. They have recently announced their new Parallel I/O technology which continues to amaze with its cost savings and increased response times. They have achieved an SPC-1 world record.
