### "Features, functions, and fabulous"

November 9, 2021

4.0

Despite the desperate cheerleader narratives about every, single one of their features (we get it, it's cool guys), some of their offerings really are innovative and a welcome addition to business management software that you can't find in any of their competitors (geofencing clock in/out is possibly the best thing I've ever heard), their costs are the lowest I've ever seen and their easy to navigate platform is the most comprehensive I've ever found. Even if they charged 5 or 10x what they are, it would still be an easy choice.

Pros

This software was easy to use and implement, intuitive, colorful, well labeled, directive, fluid, and flexible. There are a lot of options available and it offers a lot od customization during both set up and operation. I especially loved that the process to use sling, and the web application, was fast and understandable trying to get a small start up off the ground has me already spread thin on time and money, so sling really packs a punch for it's cost, which literally made my jaw drop, unparalleled!

Cons

The company website (not the web application itself) was cumbersome and their prose was annoyingly perky. Seeing as they rambled on and on in long, overly adulating paragraphs about each one of their features, by the time I got to the "what's included in all packages/price points" section, I was a little disappointed about all the features not included (successful marketing ploy) but disappointing nonetheless.

Reason for choosing Sling

Price is lower Features are better, more varied, well thought out Interface is bright, colorful, friendly, not intimidating Company believes in its product and wants you to also, I'd rather have somebody care too much than not at all

### "Sling is used to assist in co-ordinating our small teaching team."

May 23, 2026

4.0

Sling is adequate for our small language centre to use for some basic scheduling. It's much better than our old way of keeping track of it in an Excel spreadsheet. Overall, the price is good for the service we receive, but I wish we had more education specific features such as knowing which instructor was teaching the language level we were at.

Pros

The swap shifts save literally hours of my life. If teachers want to swap classes, they do so themselves within the app. Also, it's nice to see who's available in case I need to call someone up to fill in for my teacher. I can use the mobile app to view the schedule between lessons without having to get to my desk.

Cons

Occasionally, notifications are delayed which led to confusion when one of my colleagues' classes was rescheduled. Syncing of calendar does not always work well with our Google Calendar. Also desire it to be compatible with our student management system.

### "Great for Small Businesses"

April 21, 2025

3.0

Sling did its job for us but our growing company needed more. We needed a software that could encompass more features in one hub.

Pros

The app had a very basic visual appeal on desktop and was easy to use for communication. Liked the use of repeating shifts and creating chats.

Cons

I felt the app has features that could be updated for better usage like employee adjust shift with management approval, forms, etc.

### "Effective team coordination "

November 3, 2025

4.0

Pros

I work in a large team. In sling, my manager was able to identify different members of the team in groups. I then could filter by team and only see the schedules of my close team members vs scrolling through everyone in our department.

Cons

When my manager was updating our schedules on a quarterly basis, our phones would be spammed by countless notifications about schedule changes. This could be remedied by turning off notifications during this period of time, however this made it a risk for forgetting to turn notifications back on and missing important future communication.

### "Not a bad clock in app"

April 26, 2026

4.0

It was a decent app to clock in clock out but the communication options were poor because the sounds were so low and would miss texts

Pros

Easy to clock in if connected to wifi. Communicating with team members option. Managing team schedules was fairly easy.

Cons

How sometimes you had to disconnect from wifi and reconnect to clock in. Notification sounds were very soft

### "Planning our medical reaction forces."

February 14, 2026

5.0

Coverage is very important as a specialist. I use this to schedule staff. It is essential to task management yet it takes time to be set up in the beginning.

Pros

Our team management features enable us to organize 24/7 shifts of our medical dispatch center and make sure that each emergency call is addressed promptly.

Cons

New employees have a steep learning curve, and due to the bugs and the occasional failures of the notifications, it is possible to miss the shift alerts.

### "Great tool but a little limiting"

June 8, 2026

5.0

Sling has been great. While there are some limitations on how we can schedule, the information we can apply, and reports being minimal, it's a great scheduling tool.

Pros

Sling is easy to use and doesn't take a lot of testing time. You can pick it up pretty quickly. I like the ability to filter through employees, groups, locations, etc. It's also easy to look at past schedules.

Cons

It's getting more expensive as our team grows, as it's priced per employee. We also can't schedule based on skill. (Ex. forklift driver, etc.)

### " Sling enabled us to sync schedules creatively across campaigns."

June 12, 2025

5.0

It imposed an agenda on the chaotic scheduling in our agency. We no longer cause/overlap due dates and we prevent burnout by trying to evenly distribute the work among staff.

Pros

With drag-and-drop shift planning and team communication tools, Sling makes it simple to keep track of who will be working where – even when those campaign deadlines start to pile up. I like that I can see in real time what’s happening and request time off.

Cons

Notifications can be overwhelming, and it’s mildly tedious to create recurring shifts. But without that issue, it's good.

### "Easy to Use"

September 23, 2024

5.0

It's been great. Need to adjust some of the messaging settings, but overall it's been an easy transition for all.

Pros

The best thing about Sling is the ease of use. It is very user friendly and easy to understand.

Cons

I don't like how easy it is for the staff to send out messages to everyone in the building.

### "A Streamlined Timeclock System for Billable Contractor Hours"

March 26, 2024

5.0

Pros

The timeclock system is very easy to use, and you can effortlessly apply filters to execute payroll and AR procedures.

Cons

The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Not all agents are bad \[Thank you \[sensitive content hidden\] for saving us!\], but most of the time the responses are generic, and provide no real solution.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Sling

The walkthrough and trial period Sling provided allowed us to test run their system, and identify that they were a match - thank you \[sensitive content hidden\]!

Switched from

[QuickBooks Time](https://www.capterra.com/p/151722/TSheets/)

Quickbooks Times is a clumsy system. There's too many modifications you need to make to execute payroll efficiently, and that affects billing for those contractor hours as well.

### "User Friendly"

June 11, 2021

5.0

I believe Sling has reduced the amount of employees missing work or being late for work. Ability to make announcements to all of our employees to ensure our message gets out.

Pros

Being able to copy and paste the schedule weekly saves time when making a schedule. In my department alone I have 87 employees. The unavailability feature is great so that as managers we can ensure we are scheduling people when they are available. This reduces the amount of time we would need to make adjustments to schedules if we scheduled someone when they were not available. The messaging and announcement feature is great so that we can send out a group message to get an announcement out to all associates. Also being able to send private messages to employees is great so we do not have to give our personal phone number out to all employees.

Cons

Not being able to delete private messages. We can archive the messages but cannot delete them. We have to archive each one individually which is time consuming. Also when we want to delete an announcement we have to check two boxes and then hit delete. Would be better if we could just click on the announcement or multiple announcements and hit delete.

Reason for choosing Sling

When we started the process of opening our store knowing that we would have close to 600 employees throughout multiple departments I knew we would need some sort of scheduling software. Our other location which is much smaller in operation was using Excel for each department. I had roughly 200 associates in my department when we first opened. I searched online for a scheduling software and came across Sling. After using the free version I realized this would be perfect for our store. I brought it to our General Manager and he agreed that we should use this software. We have been using it store wide in all departments now for about a year and a half.

### "Extremely easy, inexpensive, and comprehensive scheduling tool"

July 14, 2022

5.0

Extremely positive; we were lacking an online scheduler and mobile access for about 2 to 3 years and the use of Sling made scheduling much easier (versus pen and paper) and reduced issues due to accidental missed shifts.

Pros

I looked through several scheduling tools before settling on Sling. This included simple Excel sheets, Homebase, and When I Work. I settled on Sling because of the wide array of features for no cost and mobile app access. The mobile app experience, per my team, was easy and extremely convenient. I personally was impressed with the ease of the drag-and-drop scheduler.

Cons

About the only issues I had with the software was the occasional challenge to invite a new user. We haven't used it in a while now, but the only problem was that it seemed hard to resend the invite email to download the app. That being said, I think it was only because there are a lot of features in the software, and it can be a little challenging to do once specific task simply because it can take a minute to find it.

Reason for choosing Sling

More features for no cost; it was important that it not cost anything as it was a temporary product during a company transition.

The best roster software I have used. It just works. It works for Managers and supervisors, it works for staff.

Cons

### "Sling Low, Sweet Chariot"

September 25, 2024

5.0

I think the best way to describe our experience with Sling is by relaying the following series of events. We were aware that we were losing money due to inefficient scheduling, so much so that our board of directors authorized us to spend $500 for a consultant to come provide us with a better way to operate. While the consultant had some decent ideas, they were not actionable. We decided to try out Sling. Now that we have started using it and upgraded to the premium version, we are spending less annually to have all our scheduling handled by Sling than we paid a consultant for a day's worth of work. The cost of implementing Sling was far, far outweighed by the savings that it brought us.

Pros

Sling has taken away the need for us to have a dedicated employee spend 15-20 hours a week on employee scheduling. We are a relatively small non-profit, and as such we have multiple employees who routinely have to work outside their specialty/field of expertise in order to keep us afloat. One area that we have consistently had issues with is scheduling and tracking employees and volunteers. With multiple sites and multiple managers, we were losing money because we were doubling up on many shifts. It was not until we implemented Sling that we were able to effectively manage our employees schedule to provide us with the most return on our investment and our customers with the best service.

Cons

We started out using the free version of Sling. Because we have less than 50 employees, this suited us fine at first, but there were options we did not have access to. We quickly realized that the limitations imposed by the free version could easily be solved by upgrading to the minimally priced premium version.

### "Sling Software Saved Me So Much Time!"

June 3, 2021

4.0

I have used Sling for a few years now -- it meets my needs and goes above an beyond for the products it offers to the user. Sling support staff have been responsive to my needs and questions. A Great Product!

Pros

Above all, I love that Sling has saved me so much time when making the schedule for my employees! Used to take 3-4 hours, now it only takes me approximately 1 hour to create a weekly schedule. Sling is accessible by computer and by mobile application. I love that it has many different colors for the different shifts that I need to create. Love that I can copy and paste shifts.

Cons

I wish that the mobile application gave me a total count of hours for each employee. When approving an employee to pick up an extra shift, I currently need to go to a computer to see to total count of hours for that individual before I can approve. Wish I could see total count of hours on my phone, so that I can approve when I am initially notified (which is usually an app notification to my phone).

Reason for choosing Sling

I liked the color associated with the shifts and the price point. :)

### "Sling for Scheduling"

December 6, 2021

4.0

Overall I am pleased with this software, our employees never have any negative feedback which is always nice.

Pros

I really appreciate that there is an accessible employee database. This feature allows me to not have to add every employee on my personal phone because I can reference the database for needed information. I also quite like the Newsfeed feature. We currently have different categories in which to post pertinent information. It is helpful in sharing information with the team when we are all not present.

Cons

I do not like that when on my desktop, the Newsfeed will alert me about new posts but the alert will not go away after I review the posts.
