Pros Text in church has been a great solution at a reasonable price for us when we were looking for a new phone system. We are able to provide phone access to multiple staff members and volunteers through their system, and their customer service team is always very responsive when we have issues. They provide us with multiple voice mail boxes and the ability to communicate with our clients and volunteers via text very easily. Cons There was a steep learning curve as our staff and volunteers have learned how to navigate the Text in Church system. Switched from [Spectrum](https://www.capterra.com/p/170585/Spectrum/) Needed to upgrade our phone system and Text in Church allowed us to move away from being tied to a limited number of land lines. Cons We need to build in some personal elements in the middle of the workflow to stay connected. We would love to be able to add our name or church name as the number so people don’t think it’s a spam call or text. We are considering addressing ourselves in the message so at least it’s possible iPhones would recognize and list it as us. It seems like people either really love it or really hate it. We found it expensive and cumbersome. GLOO is a much better platform and way more economical. Pros The ability to communicate with people quickly. Cons The texts were not reliable. Often we would schedule them and they'd either not go or be sent at the wrong time (was not operator error). We haven't had a need for customer service because everything has run so smoothly, but they have reached out just to check on how things are going and that's always nice to see from a company. Pros Set up was so easy as it integrates with Church Center. It's easy to navigate and send/schedule messages to our entire congregation or small groups easily. Cons Uploading files to send is a little "clunky" as you can only upload one file at a time and then only attach one file at a time to emails. " April 15, 2026 5.0 This is an excellent tool for churches for many reasons. 1. You can use it to communciate with people wanting to know more about Jesus in a “Text Yes” Campagin. 2. It’s a great want to communicate things to your congregation. If there is emergency or unexpected close (we had snow in North Carolina) 3. Communicate with your volunteers with reminders. Pros The flexibility for several Ministries to use this software. We have several teams…..Groups, General Congregation, Guest Services & Events. This way, we can all manage our messages more effectively and efficiently. We started using in on Sundays for people to text YES when we ask if they’d like to labor more about Jesus. This give us at least a starting point with new believers and people that are interested. For my volunteer team on Events, I use text in church to tell them there is an important email that they need to look for.WIth all the emails these days, many just miss important emails. Telling folks that an important email just went out about volunteering ad one of our 3 campuses is an effective what to get great sign ups. It gives us another tool to connect with the church. Pros With the ability to text in this day and age is critical and Text in Church makes it simple to get started. They offer a complete set of features, local numbers, keywords, groups and more. Cons I wish you could set multiple keywords or phrases to trigger an action instead of just one word. Cons The one aspect of the platform is some difficulty I have had with adding on bundles when needed. But they do offer a wide range of packages so you can discover which works best for you. I am very good at ideas and implementation... not so much maintaining long term... so to have an automated system that feels personal has been amazing!! Pros I love how easy this software is to use and customize. It is also automatic, so once you have it set up it runs everything so smoothly. Cons I don't always get notifications to my phone... but it hasn't hindered the effectiveness, just my response time. October 10, 2019 4.0 We have improved our communication to our members with Text in Church. Also, for the first time, guests have a way of hearing from us after they've visited. Members feel more involved and in the loop than ever before. Pros I like the ability to text hundreds of people instantly. The groups function is an easy-to-use tool. The ability for people to opt themselves out of communication is also important. Church members feel updated any time they receive an email or text. Cons I don't like that they charge us per text. Many times I want to send messages over 160 characters to our church members, but am forced to limit the message to conserve the number of texts I use per month. I also think some of their formatting and setup of certain templates is clunky and not user-friendly. Reason for choosing Text In Church Because it was more customizable to church ministry and it was around the same price. While beneficial, its not if we have to pay double the price Cons For us, their support is poorly lacking. Back in February, they double billed our credit cards for an annual fee, and now, 4 months later, after a dozen emails, and even more calls to our bank, this company tells me it may take another month before they can figure out how to issue us a credit for hundreds of dollars. This initiated a review by your bank and your payment was immediately withdrawn from our account. Unfortunately, we were not able to refund your charge until your bank completed it's review. Once the review as completed in our favor your bank returned the funds to Text In Church and we issued your refund within 3 hours. Again, I'm so sorry this was so frustrating. I see over and over again how much more people will respond to a text communication than an email. Cons Sometimes it is time consuming to send text to select people without creating a new group for one specific text out.
