### "MSP Help Desk Manager 3 Year Veteran of ConnectWise Automate"

January 5, 2026

4.0

I really liked how it did everything I was used to and because of my change in access over my previous position I could tinker with the automation and create better efficiencies for our clients.

Pros

I like how accessible it is and the ease of use. I went from Datto to CW Automate which was like night and day in a positive way.

Cons

The UX design was very simple and was not as flashy as what I was used to previously I got used to it eventually.

### "Powerful Automation with a Steep Learning Curve"

December 12, 2025

4.0

Overall, the experience was very positive. Although I initially struggled with the platform, the support was phenomenal, and the onboarding process was a massive help. It greatly improved our network monitoring and, as a result, enhanced our security. It did take some time for the business to upskill and fully utilize the tool effectively.

Pros

It is a very powerful tool; when you are highly skilled in scripting, you can fully leverage the level of access and control it provides. The automation of monitoring and alerting is a major strength, enabling proactive and preventative maintenance rather than reactive support.

Cons

To properly utilize the platform, there is a steep learning curve, making it best suited for businesses that can invest the necessary time and resources. Due to the vast range of customization options, it can be overwhelming initially and may feel as though you are not getting full value for money until the tool has been fully learned and adopted.

Reason for choosing ConnectWise Automate

### "Powerful Automation with Excelent Security"

June 6, 2026

5.0

After using ConnectWise Automate for over a year, I can confidently say it's one of the most powerful RMM platforms out there. It's not perfect out of the box, but once configured, it handles our managed endpoints with impressive reliability. Worth every penny for growing MSPs.

Pros

ConnectWise Automate has been a game-changer for our IT operations. The automation and scripting capabilities save us hours every week. Remote monitoring works seamlessly, and the customization options let us tailor everything to our workflow. Great value for the investment!

Cons

The initial setup has a steep learning curve, and the interface can feel a bit overwhelming at first. Customer support response times could be faster. Once you get past the onboarding phase, though, it runs like a charm.

Switched from

We switched to ConnectWise Automate because it offered better automation capabilities, more robust remote monitoring features, and superior integration options compared to our previous solution. The pricing was also more competitive for our business needs.

### "A powerful solution, with a complicated setup"

September 26, 2025

3.0

Our overall experience with the software was positive, although when ConnectWise came out with their new RMM platform, simply titled 'RMM', we jumped at the chance to swap to a natively web-based RMM solution. ConnectWise Automate has its place in history, and I'm pleased I got to use it for a time.

Pros

ConnectWise Automate is the legacy RMM platform by ConnectWise themselves. The product is highly skilled at implementing automation into your business and driving security with automated scripting. Furthermore, it's integration with ScreenConnect allows for easier remote access to computers for your engineers, should you wish to leverage that. I would say for the features that it offers, it is good value for money. Customer support from ConnectWise has always helped us figure out how to achieve our goals.

Cons

The platform shows its age and its menus are slow and sometimes unresponsive for periods of time. It has a steep learning curve and will likely take one fully dedicated individual or a small team of people slowly learning it before you'll be able to take advantage of the software fully.

### "Comprehensive Remote Monitoring and Automation Tool"

June 4, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience with ConnectWise Automate has been positive. The platform offers powerful remote monitoring and management capabilities that help streamline IT operations and automate routine tasks. Its automation, patch management, and endpoint monitoring features can significantly improve efficiency for IT teams and managed service providers. While the interface and learning curve can be challenging at first, the platform provides substantial value once properly configured and integrated into daily workflows. It is a robust solution for organizations looking to scale their IT management and support capabilities.

Pros

What I liked most about ConnectWise Automate was its powerful automation capabilities and centralized endpoint management. It allows IT teams to monitor, manage, and maintain a large number of devices efficiently through scripting, patch management, remote monitoring, and automated remediation. The platform helps reduce manual workload, improves operational efficiency, and provides strong visibility into system health across managed environments.

Cons

One of the main drawbacks is that the platform can have a steep learning curve, especially for new users who want to take full advantage of its automation and scripting capabilities. The interface can feel complex and sometimes outdated, and configuring advanced workflows may require significant time and expertise. Additionally, performance can occasionally be affected in larger environments.

### "Automate good but not at scale."

June 11, 2025

4.0

I love the tool. It's unfortunate that it ceases to work beyond a certain size. If ConnectWise can push similar features into their new RMM , then it would be a good day.

Pros

It's the most flexible solution for RMM's on the market at current state. Great tool if you need to design a custom experience.

Cons

It does not scale well beyond 10000 endpoints and the ConnectWise support and partnership is relatively poor in the industry.

### "Connectwise Automate"

December 11, 2019

5.0

We are using Connectwise Automate for taking care of customers on a managed service contract.

Pros

There are many, many features in Connectwise Automate that will help you help your customers with their computer needs.

Cons

Although the software is very feature rich, it seems very cumbersome and not easy to use from day one. In almost every step, we have had to take classes to figure out how to do things.

### "Powerful RMM tool, but learning curve can be steep"

July 28, 2025

5.0

Support is on top of simple questions, but if there is complexity, you may notice a small delay in resolution.

Pros

Its automation saves tons of time and lets us manage devices with ease. Remote monitoring is detailed, and the ScreenConnect integration makes remote support fast and reliable. Inventory tracking is solid. Reports are easy to run and give a clear picture of our hardware and software landscape.

Cons

The interface is clunky and old-school. You’ll need time to learn it before you can use the platform efficiently. As with most RMMs, it plays well with Windows but MAC and Linux are rough.

ConnectWise Automate represents a solution enabling us to automate recurring tasks, streamline our operational efficiency, enhance the management of our clients' endpoints, and, consequently, increase our profitability.

Pros

ConnectWise enables the automation of a broad range of tasks, encompassing software deployment, patch management, the resolution of common incidents, and the execution of tailored scripts. This considerably streamlines workflows.

Cons

I haven't found any weak points or inconveniences to mention in my analysis of this tool.

### "Powerful but very complicated and buggy to actually use"

October 27, 2025

2.0

It's a very powerful system, but from my experience it was buggy. I also had a 3rd party work on it with us and they were having a hard time getting PowerShell commands to work most of the time.

Pros

It's easy to add agents and new companies to the system. It's fast and very responsive to searching and finding agents.

Cons

It does not come with a good set of default commands. It can use some work in that area. Some things were out of date as well.

### "Greatly customizable, but often confusing"

April 30, 2025

4.0

My overall experience has been both good and bad. I like Automate because we can do a lot with it. But its often complex and confusing. The one thing ConnectWise has got right though is Screenconnect/Control. Best remote access program I have ever used.

Pros

Automate is incredibly customizable. It allows us to build what we need most of the time.

Cons

The complexity that comes with customization is often very difficult. Want to customize patch management? Good luck.

### "I utilize this software daily to perform my job duties, managing all aspects of over 6,000 endpoints"

May 29, 2018

3.0

Pros

Clients and Locations are organized in an easy-to-view tree, which allows easy access to a customer's inventory. Several dataviews are available from a Client or Location to quickly gather information of an environment. For example, a list of 'scheduled tasks' configured on every system can be gathered from all systems to determine why a particular event occurs every Saturday at 4am. Remote Control of a system can be envoked with standard tools such as VNC or RDP, as well as ConnectWise Control (formerly Screen Connect). Reports of client environments are just a click away, whether a question regarding system health is of issue, or if all systems have the latest patches and Anti-Virus updated.

Cons

Software runs on a MySQL backend, but only on Windows. Keeping MySQL tuned properly for environment size can be chore, whereas DB Engines such as MSSQL are a bit more automated and forgiving. As you bring more agents into the system, it's a good idea to run performance metrics on the MySQL server to see if any adjustments are necessary to maintain best performance of the system. Telephone Support for the MySQL backend tends to yield different answers from each representative you talk to, and in my experience it was best to use general MySQL tuning documents that are available from Oracle.

### "Connectwise Automate - one of the most powerful RMMs out there"

March 5, 2021

3.0

I still love the product and it would be hard to switch but some of the issues we run into lately are making it harder to remain with it as well.

Pros

Automate allows you to pretty much do anything you need for an RMM. It allows tons of customization and enhancement to increase its power. There are also tons of free and paid integrations that even make it work better. You can also script pretty much anything throughout the product.

Cons

In order to get the full power you really need to dedicate the time and resources to add what you want to it. Reporting is abhorant and got even worse with the new reporting engine. There seems to be more increasing bugs in later releases and all new patches focus on bug fixes rather than any enhancements so the functionality of the product really isn't improving. The quality of first level support has also slipped. They used to be able to address most issues, now it tends to be limited what they can help with.

### "The best tool I've used in desktop support."

July 12, 2018

5.0

With this software we are able to not only sort users by client, but also location. The network scans and ability to distribute software is killer. When working I am able to easily assist multiple people because of the features of this product. I can remotely connect to a computer, run command line scripts, create custom scripts, and check general health. That's all in the console view. If you want to setup the alerts to prompt you for specific actions, it's all there.

Pros

The amount of features that you have at your fingertips to remotely assist users is phenomenal. I can't count how many times this software has made life so much easier.

Cons

When the app is slow to load, it's slow to load. It's the only downside I've had with this application.

### "Automate - IT automation software for IT Service Providers "

July 24, 2018

5.0

I work for an MSP, and we have the luxury of having a full time guy that is our Automate administrator. He's amazing, and has made this software do some really incredible stuff for us. It had good functionality out of the box, but we've been adding scripts and automation to it for 5 years at this point. The sky is the limit on what you can do, but you will need to invest the time and energy into doing it.

Pros

We love Automate. We use it to manage patches and updates across thousands of computers. We also use it for customized monitoring and alerting on workstations and servers. Monitoring is really robust and granular. It does a great job of gathering a TON of data about the network, and that data is searchable. There are a bunch of different reports built in. Integrates with Manage, Control, and other applications. It does a ton of stuff out of the box, and has endless customization options.

Cons

It may not do quite as much as you want right out of the box, and it will take some work to set it up. You'll need someone on your team willing to invest the time and energy into making this software do everything you want.

### "For managing your IT components no matter where"

April 22, 2018

5.0

Pros

After using a lot management tooling, I'm now using ConnectWise Automate (former Labtech). Monitoring, manage, implement manually or thru scripts, almost everything is possible with this software.

Cons

Setup is easy with their support, but getting completely up and running is a differnt story. Especially in small IT companies where maintaining this software is just very small part of your job it sometimes getting complicated. Adjusting reports can be improved. A simple report where you select the begin and end date in the past is not possible.

### "Automate review"

March 10, 2021

2.0

I've hung on, hoping things would improve. They've not so in effect gone backwards. I never feel like support are able to help over the basic break fix model.

Pros

The remote control product is quick and works. The desktop version still provides the best daily interface over the not finished web version. The extra data fields do provide us with easy to access information.

Cons

The product is slow and complicated. The new web version is just another overlay of the main product and database. This web version is not nearly complete, which has been worked on now for years. Most parts of the product are complicated to setup, when you go to the University of connectwise to find the information, often it is lacking.

### "Packed with Features and Information"

July 4, 2019

5.0

We use Connectwise Automate to get on top of client issues before reaching out so that we can have a better, more knowledgeable interaction with them. It's a very necessary tool in our organization.

Pros

There are tons of features in this software. It provides a console interface with verbose information that allows a tech to do quite a bit of troubleshooting before having to remote onto the computer. You're able to run commands from CMD, view mapped drives, view/add local user accounts, and more. What I also like is, after establishing a connection to the computer remotely, you can also close the console window without having to close the remote session window.

Cons

Some info in the console can be hard to find because there is just so much information. There are two features I feel are missing from the console though: 1. The ability to view and edit the registry from the console. 2. The ability to view the file system from the console.

### "ConnectWise Automate - box of LEGO with no instructions"

March 5, 2021

4.0

Pros

ConnectWise Automate empowers users to perform generally complex tasks such as patching and monitoring with ease. The scripting engine is extremely powerful and allows anyone with zero to little programming knowledge to perform automation tasks.

Cons

ConnectWise has yet to realized the world is moving to the cloud. Monitoring servers is no longer important, cloud services are. There is no cloud awareness in the system, which is going to force partners to pilot to other systems.
