It never crashed or had any incompatibility with my Macbook Pros I've been using for four months and not once it crashed, therefore so far it has been very reliable. The interface is intuitive and the learning curve is a walk in the park. It performs as expected, always on the background using very little of the computer's resources. It links to a dashboard where it shows accurate time tracking and reporting. Excellent value for the money. Cons None that I can find. It performs as expected. I'm using version 8.0.6, the latest as of Feb. 2026, and it never crashed. Cons When creating my account, I didn't have the option to choose an EU server location, which was later resolved with the help of a very helpful support representative. However, it would be great to have this option available directly during the account creation process. Pros I like Insightful because it has a nice interface and is easy to install. It makes it easy to check reports, and the price is good. It was easy to install on my employees' Mac computers, and it runs all the time in the background. It's easy and quick to look at reports and see what they're doing, including screenshots. Cons I suppose maybe they could make a report that captures the hours worked productively in the most concise way. It's not a big deal, but you're asking for some given criticism. Pros Simple user interface. Easy option to sort individual member activities. Daily activities. Small software load on PC. Cons The reporting options could be better. I have to export the reports to Excel to edit them. A more sophisticated export interface with user options would be better. It would also be great if these individual exports could be sent to emails according to a set period. Generalist Expert Writing and Editing Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "My experience using Insightful for a remote job" August 15, 2026 5.0 It was my first time using a time tracker app when working on a remote project, so I have no baseline to compare. So far, it does it job well. It is easy to set up and intuitive to use without any hassle. Pros It can track my time working in the project easily. There are options to pause so I have the flexibility once accepting the job. Cons I know the product is supposed to keep track of my activity, but I am still feeling kind of being watched on my screen. So i always try to be careful when the timer is active. It also surprisingly manages to see everything i am doing, which makes me a bit uneasy. That's more useful to us than a plain five stars. The part worth knowing: the timer is the boundary. Nothing is captured when it's off, screenshots only happen while you're actively clocked in, and there's no camera or microphone recording involved at any point. Insightful is built with privacy in mind and we push for transparency about it rather than quiet. Ideally you shouldn't have to think about it at all, just work. Good to hear the pause control and the setup made a fair first impression, too. For someone using a tracker for the first time, that's the part we'd least want to get wrong. Contractor Information Technology and Services Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Easy-to-Use, but Shut Down automatically" November 27, 2025 4.0 Overall, it appears to be a useful app; however, I feel that it's necessary to place safety features to prevent it from shutting down without notification. Pros Insightful is simple to use and understand. I liked that I was able to log on to the website through the app, and that I was able to see productivity in a easy-to-read format. Cons Unfortunately, I had an issue where my project disappeared while I was working on it. The insightful app stopped recording my time and did not notify me that 1. it had stopped my time on its own, and 2. that the project had been unassigned. When it was time for me to take a break, I realized it had stopped timing long before I had noticed. I'm not exactly sure on how long I had been working prior to the app stopping, and will now have to estimate the time I spent on the project to be compensated appropriately.
