### "Squarespace: elegant and user-friendly website builder: "

December 27, 2022

5.0

Overall, Squarespace is a great option for anyone looking to create a professional-looking website without any coding experience. The elegant design and user-friendly interface make it easy to create a visually appealing website, and the comprehensive features make it suitable for a wide range of needs. While the higher price point may be a drawback for some users, the excellent customer support and comprehensive features may make it worth the investment for many.

Pros

Elegant design: Squarespace offers a wide range of beautifully designed templates that make it easy to create a visually appealing website.User-friendly interface: Squarespace has a simple and intuitive interface that makes it easy for users to navigate and make changes to their website.Excellent customer support: Squarespace offers excellent customer support through email, chat, and phone, making it easy for users to get help when they need it.

Cons

Higher price point: Squarespace is more expensive than some other website builders, which may not be feasible for all users but since we work with different e-commerce company they don't mind with what they pay.

### "Inexpensive and robust"

December 6, 2022

5.0

Overall, Squarespace is a great product and takes off a huge burden from new companies in setting up the website and creating a functional Shop.

Pros

Squarespace can seem expensive at first glance to a new business, but compared to other products on the market, it is affordable, reliable, and very flexible, making it a very good investment for any new business. We initially started with Squarespace just to build our website and recently were able to turn on the eCommerce function and start a shop. The shop was easy to build and many third-party companies have strong integrations (Stripe, Shippo, TaxJar) that work with it.

Cons

The way the settings for the Shop are split between different sections of the dashboard can be confusing. We eventually figured it out but it was not without a lot of frustration. Setting up shipping options was also difficult if you have complex products.

### "Great for Basics, not so great for customization"

February 23, 2022

4.0

Overall, it's a great quality jumping off point for anyone new to the ecommerce game. If you have some experience with web design, you would probably enjoy building your own site a lot more than trying to fit yourself or your business into one of the proverbial "boxes" that Squarespace has to offer it's clients. If you're just trying to break into the market and are looking for an easy to use and manage, basic solution - this will work great!

Pros

I really liked how easy this was to use and get setup, considering I have ZERO web design or IT experience. It was really user friendly, has lots of guides to help you get started. Lots of modern designs that can fit a lot traditional/regular business streams. The customer management features are EXCELLENT - especially if you use a Square POS system in your shop. I really love that I can run analytics on any particular customer, plus you can use the info across Square platforms. Really great ecommerce software if your needs are basic.

Cons

The ability to customize to your business could use a lot of improvement. You can customize to an extent - it generally requires you to have any and all imagery, content and designs done and simply uploaded to the site. This is a daunting task if you have never done anything like this before - I tried and it didn't go well. None of the themes really "matched" or worked well with our business and how we wished to incorporate ecommerce into our business.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

I chose Squarespace without doing much research - I had no idea how one even begins to design a website, let alone an ecommerce site. So, being that we used Square POS in our shop, I figured it would be best if I could tie them together. Easy to use, but super basic.

### "Extremely easy to use but expensive"

November 30, 2020

4.0

Pros

1) We can easily select the fonts and colors of the site from the side menu so that when you select the h1 or h2 it directly applies that heading structure and design. 2) Very clean. By this I meant to say that every option is properly differentiated and well defined. 3) The easy integration of the site with Google Drive creating a google sheet is very much appreciated. 4) The website is by default responsive and that is really helpful when you are just starting out building a website. 5) I have never ran into a problem where I need to get contacted with the customer care as the options on the site are pretty much self explanatory. 6) There are no pop ups or any things that distracts you while creating the website. 7) I have started learning the website building when there was some offer to use the premium feature for 15 days. I thought that after 15 days I will leave the site and will check out another website building services but I stuck to this site after that as the ease of use is too good and the features are easy to understand. 8) There are no hidden charges unless you yourself purchase any add on premium services and everything goes smooth.

Cons

1) There is not smart alignment feature in this website building engine. 2) The price of the basic website is too much in comparison of the other website building engines. 3) Here one needs to have the structure ready before hand designing the website as it goes step by step as changing the site fonts and color will be challenging if not decided earlier. 4) The premium email with the G-Suite feature is too expensive then other service providers. Also the advanced analytics are not provided in the personal plan.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

I started building the site using this website building service. From that moment I have explored many engines but this is by far the smoothest of all in terms of deployment and ease of use.

### "The Best Website Builder for Simple Sites"

September 30, 2019

5.0

I genuinely love this tool for creating websites. It is easy to use, cost efficient, and turns out a great end product. I have used it to make websites for photographers, restaurants, and sales businesses alike. It is so versatile and every site visitor thinks it's professionally done.

Pros

This software is easy to use, intuitive, and when you can't figure something out Support is right there for you. They have tons of how to videos and instructions that make everything pretty easy to figure out.

Cons

I dislike the spacer feature - it gets pretty annoying to use those instead of being able to snap an object to a grid and align that way. It works much like Microsoft Word in the sense that if you try to resize or adjust something, sometimes everything on the page moves.

Alternatives considered

[BentoBox](https://www.capterra.com/p/222733/BentoBox/)

Reason for choosing Squarespace

BentoBox is specific to restaurants - they have a wonderful product, however their set-up and pricing did not work for us. Essentially, you pay them to create the initial site and then it's up to you to edit/take care of after the fact. You pay a large set up fee and a pretty expensive monthly fee in perpetuity. We have five locations and it just wasn't cost efficient. Since I already knew how to use Squarespace and knew how to work with SEO, it was an easy, much more cost-effective switch. Bentobox is a great product, but it is pricey to maintain. As a restaurant, we have simple needs as to what people are looking for when they come to our site.

Our site was continually hacked, there was very little support, it was complicated to use. Our sites were outdated and I wanted to switch us to something everyone on our team, no matter their level of tech expertise, could use.

### "Read this before you sign up"

March 4, 2024

1.0

Pros

We have been on Squarespace since 2010, that should tell you how long we have known them. Initially it was a tightly knit community with customer care, even though we are in Australia, they usually got back to us on email ok. When they got bigger, the service and quality was gradually downgraded. They would make changes to their framework without much customer support which meant parts of your website didnt work. Their SEO has also always been on the lower end based on rankings we have been getting. For the past 2 weeks, they have taken our website down, after nearly 14 years of being their customer. They wont tell us why and they wont tell us how to fix it. I have lodged ticket after ticket. They just dont respond period. Dont waste your money, their focus is to get as many people signed up as possible rather than caring what happens afterwards. They are just a marketing funnel and they will happily leave you when you need any kind of help

Cons

Customer Support and customer care which simply does not exist at all in this company. I dont understand how hard it is for them to reply to simple emails

### "A one-of-a-kind solution for web design that fosters innovation and creativity."

February 20, 2022

5.0

Squarespace has made it possible for us to conveniently establish and administer our own website on the Internet, as well as to showcase products on it and contact and chat with clients in real time.

Pros

With its excellent design, Squarespace enables all interested individuals and businesses to construct their own online platforms or sites, especially beginners. Because it gives various ready-made templates that help invention and originality, it allows you to achieve the most organization for the topics you want to communicate through your site. Squarespace's adaptable framework empowers users to confidently manage their sites and control all tools and settings. Squarespace makes it simple for anyone to build a website. To construct a visually appealing and professional internet portfolio, I had no prior knowledge. The more I use their software, the more confident I am in my ability to design a more complex portfolio. They make me feel in charge of my site, but I am not.

Cons

We had an issue while defining some web tags, as well as when formatting photographs and setting up pages in general, which we were able to resolve with the assistance of the support team. There aren't many negative things that can happen with users, save for misunderstandings.

### "Expensive!"

September 10, 2021

Love love love this company if they would lower their prices I would gladly consider them again if I ever needed another site for anyting

Pros

I love nearly everything about Squarespace it practically has everything a business person or a blogger could need SEO file uploading Analytics and much more!

Cons

It became very expensive to run my Squarespace site for everything that I needed on it. Also when I was using it a couple of years ago now they didn't have any options for running fundraisers through the website which is something I needed this is why I switched to another company.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

### "A beautiful website, tailored to you"

January 15, 2020

5.0

I have a beautiful, functional website to direct clients to. It has a blog, a shop where they can purchase items and much more. The site allows me to capture visitor information, make sales and create first interactions with me and my services. It allows me to have a "home base" from which I launch all of my projects and ideas. I have had Squarespace for several years now and never plan to change--it's really that good! I have experimented with other providers but never found anything so well crafted and easy to use.

Pros

Squarespace allows you to select a plan that fits your needs. You can choose plans with unlimited pages, commerce options and much more. I love that it's made to be user friendly and there is no coding required (you can code as an advanced option but it's really not at all needed since they offer you everything). You can add all kinds of features to webpages, like forms, surveys, images and much more just by adding elements they call "blocks". This makes it very easy to customize the website to look, feel and operate just like you would like. If you previously couldn't realize your website dreams due to a lack of technical know-how, you can use Squarespace to design like a pro.

Cons

Sometimes it can be slightly unintuitive as to where to find something, so it takes me a few extra minutes to find out where I can tweak a specific setting. Customer support is excellent and fast to respond but only by email or chat, not by phone. You do have to upgrade to a higher plan for some features, like abandoned cart recovery at checkout, for example; however, for the value they offer, I think all the upgrades are worth the cost.

### "The best website builder for lightweight needs and support"

October 31, 2019

5.0

Overall, Squarespace has saved me a great deal of time managing the website and keeping it updated and current. It hasn't been without its headaches but it's definitely nice to be able to leave it sit for a period of time without worrying about technical difficulties. I used WordPress in the past and it's much, much easier. The major downside is your site will look Squarespace-y. All Squarespace sites have a certain modern styling and it's difficult to give it a unique look but that's the price we pay for simplicity.

Pros

The ease of creating and managing the website are its strongest suite. There is definitely a learning curve and not everything is intuitive out of the box. However, once you get through the quirks it can save substantial amounts of time creating content and maintaining the site into the future. It takes a lot of complexity out of website creation. It's a major relief to not have to worry about updating plugins and hoping something doesn't break. It's mobile friendly out of the box and much easier to handle things like image galleries or even selling products.

Cons

Every website must be on its own plan. No bundles or creating multiple websites on the same server. Choosing a template upfront can be tricky because it's hard to foresee what capabilities you'll need down the line and each template has its own abilities and quirks. You can always change the template but that often requires substantial reworking of the content. Also, you must work with the confines of what Squarespace can do. If you're trying to do something relatively complicated you're likely to run into roadblocks and limitations and you'll be stuck doing it the "Squarespace way" or not at all.

### "With Squarespace, we can streamline the web design process"

September 14, 2023

5.0

Squarespace is a crucial tool for in-house web designers since it streamlines the process of improving websites and generating custom pages for customers. This platform's drag-and-drop editor makes creating and updating web content easy, cutting down on web development time and effort. I strongly recommend using this tool because it helps keep a site looking friendly and working well. The system is flexible and provides powerful resources. There is nothing in the user's content that needs to be rephrased.

Pros

With Squarespace, you can quickly and easily hire a talented site designer who uses cutting-edge technology. It offers various configuration options so that users may create websites tailored to their businesses' specific needs. The platform's many advertising tools let users promote their business to a broader audience and attract new customers. All of my questions have been answered, so thank you very much for your help. The graphical user interface is intuitive and straightforward to use.

Cons

Securing a website certificate might be challenging, depending on the domain. However, assistance is available from the support staff.

### "Squarespace is great for small businesses"

May 31, 2019

5.0

My overall experience with Squarespace is that it has allowed me to increase my profits, I've had a better time at events when people want to make purchases, and in general it is a well run software, so I really appreciate it. It is very accessible, it has made me look more professional, and it rarely has any bugs. Good job !

Pros

I have been using Squarespace for a few years as a working artist with a small business. There are a lot of events that happen for crafts and painting, and no one has cash, and I certainly don't have change to give them. When I got onto squarespace a few years ago I was amazed that they sent me a free sliding card chip reader, how easy it was to sign up, and I was a bit upset with myself that I hadn't signed up sooner. The amount of sales I missed before squarespace could probably have paid for a vacation or a big increase in my business, however all is well because I have it now. I really like that I can also keep profiles of different people, I can send people invoices, I can send people receipts, I can really make sure that I stay in their minds as a future place to buy from. I think that square space has also been successful for me because having a squarespace account has made me more professional with overseas buyers. Sometimes I get quite a bit of traction on sales through instagram, and paypal is not seen as the best route by these people, they prefer square space. It has given them ease of mind when they receive a digital receipt, when they see that i take my business seriously, and that has created a lot of good relationships for me in places like Australia, New Zealand and so forth. It has also allowed me to let people set up payment plans by tracking all their payments through square space and that too has increased a lot of business for me. Squarespace has helped!

Cons

I think that I am always worried about losing the swiper. If there was a way where squarespace could get rid of that all together and yet allow a one go swipe I would be really grateful for that. The only other issues I have had is sometimes the software has frozen while I am in the middle of a transaction and that has made things a bit difficult for me in the moment, however, this is common for a lot of apps that have high usage, so I am not super upset about it. I think that in the moment you can hope that things will be perfect but they can't always be. Overall though I think the software has better positives than negatives. I think that it is very good software.

### "Squarespace is easy to use, beautiful, and full featured"

June 12, 2023

5.0

Pros

on squarespace I felt like it was maybe the easiest of all the CMS websites to create a beautiful looking site quickly. Granted I was creating them before all of the new AI techniques popped up, but the ability to create something nice looking in a fast manner and still having a lot of control over the SEO is nice.

Cons

I think it is slightly over priced and doesn't give users enough time at a cheap rate to get their sites running before becoming full price. If you are on a limited income then be aware you will need to go into it with a plan to become monetized and generating traffic immediately.

### "The Many Pros of Squarespace"

September 14, 2023

5.0

Overall, our experience with Squarespace has been overwhelmingly positive. Their customer service team is prompt and responsive and very helpful. The servers supporting the websites run well with nearly no observed downtime. If you're building a website, there is no better option than Squarespace.

Pros

Squarespace is an easy to use tool with a wide range of options for customizability. From small school projects to larger projects in larger companies, Squarespace offers a wide variety of options and tools to choose from such that your website can be perfectly catered to your needs.

Cons

If your website needs are very complex, with a lot of needed support on the backend, Squarespace is slightly limited. However, this is to be expected, as if your goal is to build a large, complex, expansive website, using a premade template that allows dragging and dropping would be rather difficult.

### "Easily Create an Ever-Beautiful Website "

January 8, 2017

5.0

I have been using Squarespace for my e-commerce business for a few years now and love it! Squarespace sites are easy to create and update, while always remaining beautiful. I have used other drag-and-drop website building software in the past and even though the layouts looked right when I was editing, once I viewed them live and on different devices, there were always problems. With Squarespace's platform, my site always looks exactly the way I expect it to. I recently added the e-commerce component to my site and while it doesn't have a ton of features, like other sites, it works perfectly for what I need. Some templates are better suited for e-commerce, so if that's what you're looking for, make sure to look into which ones those are. Squarespace websites are also automatically optimized for search engines! Last year I took an SEO course to improve traffic to my website and a bunch of the suggestions involved manually updating parts of my site every few months so that search engines would continue to find my site. When I inquired with Squarespace about how to go about this, they let me know that their platform already does this for my site automatically--yay! I also discovered a variety of other SEO features that are built into every Squarespace site, so you don't have to worry about updating or even knowing about much of it--it's all done for you! While Squarespace doesn't offer customer service by phone, they are timely with responding to inquiries via email and their robust online knowledge base has answered many of my questions in just a few minutes. They also offer a chat feature Mon-Fri. Finally, one of the reasons I decided to switch to Squarespace was for integrations, like MailChimp--they make it easy to connect with my customers and streamline collecting their information. They also just added an integration with PayPal for checkout, which I can already tell has made purchases easier for my customers. Overall, I am extremely happy with Squarespace and look forward to discovering, even more, features!

Pros

Ease of use Beautiful designs Great customer service Affordable useful integrations (PayPal, MailChimp, etc) built-in SEO constantly updating and adding more features

Cons

e-commerce platform has minimal features No customer service phone support Some features are only available on a limited number of templates

### "A reliable application to build websites without coding "

November 16, 2022

Overall I am very happy that I chose Squarespace to create stunning website designs.

Pros

As a non programmer It is a complicated affair for me to build my website with a professional look. Squarespace offers me a straightforward GUI interface to exercise my best creativity and design ideas using drag and drop features and graphical interface. I no longer need to struggle with the codes or copy paste them from other sources. I can simply create my own website with the readymade templates and also add my personal branding touch.

Cons

I think that the options should have been more neatly organized and grouped in a way that the beginners won't have to struggle finding the relevant options. The software can group all the generally used options and present them in the main page.

### "Easy drag-and-drop alternative to other web platforms"

March 30, 2021

5.0

I'm a copywriter, designer and brand/marketing consultant. I've built multiple small sites myself, and on a handful of others have directed freelance designers and developers on site build-out. First Squarespace site I did was in 2016. We build websites for clients on Wordpress, Shopify and Bigcommerce as well. And tend to direct clients to Squarespace if their content will be visually-driven, perhaps a little lighter on the e-commerce side, and when they'll benefit from the ability to create new pages -- especially marketing landing pages under their own domain -- without the need to call in extra developer/programmer assistance.

Pros

Squarespace's drag-and-drop platform makes it really easy to create a great-looking, full-functioning website... that can be organically changed, added to and otherwise modified over time. If we have clients who need to create marketing landing pages under their own URL, Squarespace is the one website platform that offers this natively and elegantly. We find ourselves needing to call in programmer/developers far less often when creating or modifying a web site on Squarespace. The ability to add forms, email captures, slide shows, etc., is all native to the platform, without needing to add a bunch of plugins. Your editing window is the actual page, so you can see what your dragging, writing, and otherwise placing on the page in a completely visual editor view. If you are someone who doesn't do coding... and likes the ability to drag sections and elements, set your own colors, padding, etc., Squarespace is really quite flexible and easy to use.

Cons

It doesn't do a perfect job of scaling photography from desktop to mobile views. It certainly does it, but sometimes requires a little creativity to set the image focal point and/or scale the original image so that it looks good in desktop and doesn't look too big in mobile. This is less of an issue with large banner-width images than with smaller inset images. Takes a little getting used to. The only other issue we've run into is that the interface is so easy to use that we've had a client go in and make color and photo changes we'd have preferred he didn't. Easy enough to correct. But, generally, our clients are too intimidated by other platforms to get in and change things, so just something to think about and create a plan/process around on a Squarespace site.
