### "A solid web service for someone who wants a beautiful website quickly"

April 26, 2023

4.0

We have been very happy with Squarespace. My largest frustration is that they are constantly changing what features are available in various product options. I “upgraded my site” but lost basic features. Squarespace recently changed their entire platform to their new version, unfortunately legacy customers are unable to use new design features unless they change their product package(this means customers will lose legacy features that are only included in premium products). I feel Squarespace is squeezing their customer base.

Pros

I enjoy the ease of use and how quickly Squarespace enables a site to be deployed. Very little special knowledge is needed to create a nice looking site.

Cons

Squarespace has over complicated their product offerings in regards to price structures. They hold some very basic features hostage until one upgrades to a more expensive packet.

### "Mid-size nonprofit utilizes Squarespace for 100+ projects"

January 28, 2022

5.0

Squarespace (and the availability of add-ons) provides us an opportunity to accomplish everything we need to do in one platform.

Pros

The software is fairly intuitive and easy to use. We're able to make small changes and updates quickly and easily.

Cons

Occasionally there are features that we wish existed, even as add-ons, that don't seem to exist at all. We use the store feature for our virtual gallery (a feature that started during COVID), so items can be sold directly through the website, but there are items that are not for sale... but putting a zero inventory marks the item with a red Sold Out line on the image. We would love to find a way around that.

### "Highly recommended for a first time website developer!"

December 17, 2022

5.0

Very glad to have chosen this platform for our business website. My colleague and I spent hours researching and investigating all of the similar products out there, a lot of it was super confusing to us. We focused on ease of use, user feedback and cost to pick this product and were very glad we did.

Pros

There are so many built in features that its pretty endless of what you can create. Integration with our existing business processes was a little bit challenging being a first time user, but once we figured it out, it all worked fantastic!

Cons

Being the very first product of this type to use I have nothing to really compare it to. It worked and continues to without any problems!

Reason for choosing Squarespace

Ease of use, user feedback and cost, drove our initial decision.

### "Professional, customizable results without the corresponding cost"

October 10, 2021

5.0

Squarespace is hands-down my go-to website builder. It's so easy to create sleek-looking websites from customizable templates that don't look off the shelf.

Pros

Squarespace makes website building easy, even for those who can't code. I've been using Squarespace for 8 years across multiple domains. It's intuitive (and fun!) to use and best of all, the results look impressive. Customers have chosen my services based on the professional look and feel of my website.

Cons

Like with any growing and successful software company, previous free perks now come at a cost. Features that used to be included with a basic plan are now premium upgrades.

### "When minimalism was a luxury"

February 20, 2021

4.0

I trully believe SS is being hold hostage by its once glorious minimalist phyloshophy and streamlined way of doing things. Their templates all look the same now.

Pros

Squarespace helped us develop good looking and fuctional website in no time, with outstanding streamlined interface and ease of use with minimalism in mind. + Premium fonts.

Cons

In my personal opinion, I think SS is lost with its minimalist phyloshopy and streamlined way of doing things. It was good a couple of years back when it was the only kid in town but websites have developed so much that the need for robust features and fuctionality is more a necessity than a commodity now. They just released their extension feature but it consist of no more than a few addons.

### "Easy to Customize"

April 20, 2021

4.0

Using Squarespace to relaunch our website was a time consuming process, but the system made it as easy as it could be. Someone with little web design experience can make a beautiful website and concern themselves more with the content than the design. There was a bit of a learning curve, but after trial and error we were able to navigate the system and learn as we designed new pages.

Pros

The drag and drop features of the page designs were easy to navigate and customize. When deciding what pages to include in our rebranded website, functionality was our number one concern; we wanted to be sure our current and future customers could navigate our site easily and find what they were looking for. It is great to be able to adjust and customize pieces any time instead of having to wait for a developer to create a page for us.

Cons

The forms can be finicky and sometimes don't work for users. Because there isn't a customer service rep with onboarding it can be difficult to navigate troubleshooting. Without much coding knowledge it can be difficult to customize the size of the header for the entire website, and I wish you could chose your own fonts.

Easy to use, straightforward what you see is what you get software. Takes a daunting task and actually makes it fun

Pros

I like the ease of the technology. It allows everyone who can drag and drop and point and click the ability to create and manage their own website.

Cons

I did not care for the limited customizations available, but this really wasnt a big problem for my purposes

### "Good for simple starting out businesses"

April 5, 2022

4.0

Overall I think Squarespace is a great option for small businesses that are starting out. The website builder is super easy and setting up takes almost to no time. There are third party integrations you must sign up for though. The simple designs don’t have much room to really make it unique though.

Pros

I liked how simple it was and easy to navigate. It was very fast to use and I had my website up in less than an hour.

Cons

I did not like how there was not much variety and the templates were somewhat on the dull side. But if you like simple and easy this is for you!

### "A great option for a small business who wants to sell products"

December 3, 2021

5.0

For me, I get a lot of small businesses who dont have a lot of budget, but might have a few products they want to sell. It's not worth the time and money to them to have a full ecommerce platform built but Squarespace is a great option for a simple shop with a simple set up.

Pros

Squarespace is very simple and intuitive to use and gives you the ability build a website in very little time. I build websites for customers and I find it's a great option for a small business who wants to be able to manage a website themselves but arent very tech savvy.

Cons

As a web designer I do find that you are quite limited to the rigid template designs that they have available, so even though custom is possible it's much much more difficult than it could me. It's also frustrating to find out halfway through a project that a certain feature is available in some templates but not the one you're using!

Reason for choosing Squarespace

The ease of use for my customers always draws me back.

### "Quickly Get Your Website Off the Ground"

December 16, 2021

4.0

Overall, I would highly recommend Squarespace, especially if you don't have the desire or time to customize it beyond the templates they offer (and they offer many templates!). They have incredible customer service and it's easy to create a website.

Pros

Squarespace was very user friendly. You could start with a template and put together a clean looking website fairly quickly. I was also always impressed by customer service; they were great about solving any issues that come up in design or function.

Cons

As our business is in the creative realm, I wanted more control and flexibility in design. While the templates Squarespace offers are great, I felt somewhat constrained in the site design process. I ultimately rebuilt our website with another company who offered the ability to really customize the look and feel of the website.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

It felt like the easier choice. Squarespace had been around longer and was more established.

### "An high quality web solution for non-technical people who need create and manage a website"

February 20, 2018

4.0

This product helped me launch my web storefront quickly and easily. It was truly a pleasure using this solution for my personal business.

Pros

\- Beautiful templates. Initially they offered relatively few templates compared to other website providers, however, all of their templates were very polished. Since their early days, they have plenty of templates to get you go quickly for almost any look you are going for. - The page editor is very easy to start using and experiment and becoming productive. - Product management: Product management is great in how you can manage dimensions, price, inventory, etc. When you make sales, it decreases the inventory accordingly (quite a nice little feature). The dimensions you input for your products works hand-in-hand with shipping options you offer with your storefront. HUGE benefit here for making sure the products you offer and are puchased will fit in the right boxes your customers purchased. I cannot emphasize how awesome this is. -Sales reports and analysis tools: This is so nice to track your monthly/annual sales and correlate them to your promotional and marketing efforts.

Cons

\- Pricing: More expensive than competitors, but you are paying for refinement and amenities. For non-technical people, refinement and features may be worth it. For Technical folks who can develop their own website, pricing may deter them from using SquareSpace. - Template customization confusion: From a non-technical perspective, it may be very confusing why one template reacts differently to similar changes to layout/content creation. This could cause some frustration for those users.

### "Great First Step - Very Affordable"

December 18, 2023

4.0

Very user friendly, will get the job done and look great when you’re first starting out.

Pros

If you’re starting out and need an affordable landing page or website, Squarespace is a great option. Preferred over Wix (which definitely is slow to load) and super affordable for first timers.

Cons

Once you need more detailed design features or advanced marketing support or analytics you will have to move to a web host and serve that’s designed for higher business needs.

### "Squarespace to Get a Website Up and Running Quickly On Your Own"

December 18, 2018

5.0

While Squarespace is very easy to setup and build content into, you'll want to put time into practicing the How To. Everything is drag and drop, so you add blocks (text and images) to the pages you build. The only thing I've found annoying is the spacing when you drag around these blocks, and trying to remove excess space in a layout. But this is something you'll run into with other site builders. I enjoy using it and it does offer a very user friendly experience.

Pros

Squarespace really helps you create beautiful websites. They have a range of templates that you can scroll through and decide which will suit your business. You have to be somewhat comfortable with technology to get yourself up and running, at minimum to sign up, transfer your domain name if you already have one. The best part about Squarespace is that it does all the hosting and backups for you. This is a big deal for business owners who just don't have the capacity and knowledge to do this.

Cons

It's a little trickier to customize. I'm a WordPress person and work with clients that use Squarespace. I also find Squarespace a bit more difficult when it comes to SEO. I'm used to having more control over what I set as keywords and structure vs what I can do in Squarespace. That's also because I use WordPress with Yoast. That said, I've researched Squarespace and they do seem to do some decent ranking with their SEO tools. I am not an SEO expert so if that's a thing you want to learn more of, def dig in a little more. A challenge I found was with the Comments field. Have a look at how they work when you do a test run. If you have a client that's not comfortable with the admin side of Squarespace then pre-empt that with a walk through, and if you're administering the site you'll want to coordinate and handle the actual comment updates on their behalf.

### "Squarespace Is A Awesome & Convenient Blogging Tool"

December 21, 2021

5.0

Overall, I appreciate how you don't have to have advanced technical skills to build a Squarapce Website, and you can update it with NO CODING skills necessary. Plus, being able to see the website analytics is great!

Pros

As a content creator who runs an online magazine & blog, Squarespace has made tasks much easier. For example, the ease of choosing a template and adding an e-commerce store is what I love most about Squarespace.

Cons

Although you are able to customize a Squarespace website template, there are limitations to what you can change and add.

### "Not an Easy Company"

December 21, 2019

5.0

Please see the con section above this review for my biggest complaint thank you!

Pros

Pros are that they have a stylish looking site and they have many options for templates to use for your site.

Cons

Customer service is extremely lacking. Even when you contact customer service they give you an answer and expect you to follow a video tutorial you never talked with anyone one on one! If you do they make it seem as if you are supposed to have some expertise when they say no experience is necessary in their commercials. I've been using the site for years for several different sites that I run and published as a writer but recently I started taking down my sights one by one and trying to find different companies or Company host them instead. Every little question I have ever had with Squarespace has been nothing but a complication! The only reason I have not taken down my final site to find another website hosting company in its Stead is because I feel the transfer of the site would be much too complicated. I am still in the stages of taking one of my sites completely down and I was told I could not take it down off of Google without going through a million different steps even though there is nothing on this site any longer! I'm thoroughly irritated as this has been very confusing to my customers! For some reason this is the only site I am having trouble with on Google with them so customer service is a big con for me on this site!

### "Easy to use website/blog builder with some of the best templates"

April 14, 2022

5.0

Pros

Not being a web-programmer, it was very easy for me to use Squarespace to create website for one of my initiatives. The UI templates that they have are extremely professional and gives great UX. The color schemes are also amazing. They also allow customizing as per the need but some of the customization requires higher tier which costed more. The SEO was easy to set up and the analytics was amazing as well. We used analytics functionality a lot to track traffic and source for our website. Image library is also nice but still somewhat limited sometimes and some of the integrations from their marketplace were great.

Cons

The price was very high for professional and the community is still small so when you're stuck and need help it takes time. The support was not as nice as well since instead of helping you out with something, they just point out to a wiki. SEO still is limited in functionality and Squarespace needs to do more to automatically optimize website for SEO. The platform itself sometimes slow and uses a lot of CPU.

### "Overall simple and effective web building tool"

November 19, 2021

4.0

It is a good source for web building and design with a team that isn't as strong in that area and we need to release something quickly and efficiently without too much fuss.

Pros

This is a good product we started using as a secondary business that we are building in the background along with our regular business LLC, where we use another provider. Squarespace has a much cleaner, smoother layout and is generally streamlined more in its features. It doesn't cram too many features into its platform at once.

Cons

The one con that stands out to me the most is the fact that almost all of the templates and many of the drag and drop features become extremely redundant, look the same, and sort of look like "cookie cutter" repeats of themselves. Customization isn't as high as it should be and design features aren't quite there yet.

### "Squarespace rocks!"

April 29, 2022

5.0

Squarespace is definitely the best option if you want to start blogging.

Pros

Squarespace is an awesome platform where you pick a template, tailor it, input your content, and hit publish. Our work is made so much easier with this platform. We needed a website for our wellness blogs. We've found it! Writing-wise, I enjoy it immensely. Even though I write long articles, this website never freezes. Squarespace's killer feature is that they have their own image library so I don't have to make endless photo searches and they are copyright free.

Cons

I don't dislike anything. Occasionally, it logs me out despite the fact that I am always logged in to my profile. Today, it was the first time in 8 or 9 months that I encountered a stutter while adding images. However, this is merely a one-time issue. Squarespace is something I use on a daily basis. On the whole, I have no complaints.

### "Another MUST have for your business"

September 13, 2021

5.0

Pros

I love that Squarespace’s UI is user-friendly, they have templates for nearly all industries that you can begin your web design with and the API integrations are seamless with your social media, CRM, email account and more. They even walk you through how to optimize your SEO presence and you can literally find your answer to most questions within the platform support / help feature. I love that their apps are integrated so you can monitor your analytics through the one app and then in another app you can make tweaks to your webpage. Most importantly, all of their templates and layouts are designed to be web friendly and mobile-friendly.

Cons

The only thing I don’t like is that sometimes in their upgrades from one version to the next, they disable certain features meaning the template I was formerly using was on v. 7.0 and I wanted to rebrand to another template in v. 8.0 but a feature I loved most (parallax) is no longer available in 8.0. I stuck with my 7.0 template and mimicked the things I like from 8.0 templates I saw. NOTE: when they upgrade from one version to the next, they’ll never swap any feature on you. You’d manually have to that.

### "Be Fancy....AND Simple....Live Your Website Dreams!"

September 25, 2019

4.0

Overall, Squarespace gets the job done and looks good doing it! I do hope that there's continued improvement in the area that I mentioned above, but overall, I've been happy with Squarespace.

Pros

What drew me to Squarespace initially were the aesthetics. The style and choice of their templates were a cut above what I had seen on Wordpress or WIX - of which I did try using both platforms at one point in time. I also LOVE how user friendly Squarespace is! Even if you're not super techie, it feels very intuitive and dare I say...fun to use...

Cons

One of my biggest cons lies within the "blogging" aspect of Squarespace. There are a great deal of limitations in formatting, especially if you don't know how to code. When creating a draft of a blog, Squarespace does not \*automatically save anything as you go....so I cringe at the times that I've lost an entire blog post because something froze --- the remedy I was told was to simply type out a blog post in another application (Word, etc.) and then post it in the blog section. But I often find myself editing a draft in Squarespace -- making final corrections.....so I have to be veryyy careful to only edit in my "Word" document and not make any changes once I put it into Squarespace or it has the potential of being lost....
