### "The Website Platform That Lives Up to the Hype"

February 5, 2019

5.0

Squarespace is the perfect solution for a small business owner, entrepreneur, creative, or even a casual user who just wants their own beautiful website. While a Squarespace user will encounter the limitations that come with being such a user-friendly platform, it's almost always worth it to build through Squarespace.

Pros

I've made or contributed to at least a dozen sites through Squarespace & I can confidently recommend it to anyone. The ease of use is really incredible, and it's so easy as a designer (mainly graphic design, not much coding experience) to create a beautiful website and then hand it off to my client to maintain.

Cons

While Squarespace is ALWAYS improving their software, I have had to deal with some extreme glitches on their end. There have been instances where hundreds of Squarespace-built sites will not function properly. They generally remedy this within an hour, and it's only happened sporadically once every 1 or 2 years.

### "So happy to have found this program "

June 30, 2022

5.0

I never thought I would have my own website. I'm seriously so tech incompetent that it didn't seem worth the hassle. I am so glad I tried out Squarespace. They make everything fool proof and simplified.

Pros

I love how easy this program is to use. I found out about this from a podcast and and I'm so glad I gave it a shot. I don't know anything about website building. This is perfect for anyone to use. No tech skills required!

Cons

I have no complaints so far after a year of use.

### "Lacking some features but very easy to use and powerful"

May 1, 2023

5.0

A good basic package with decent features for the money you spend.

Pros

It’s affordable and you get plenty of bang for your buck. A reasonable amount of features but does not have a lot of the advanced functionality.

Cons

Lack of customisation on some of the features.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

Cost and ease of use.

### "Not for me and the three other people I worked with trying to utilize "

November 2, 2023

3.0

We couldn’t get things to line up so that everyone sees the same thing. ,We had overlapping appointments , and so much confusion. We ended up asking Athena to make a template simile to the one already used for the Vascular side of the office and that was that.

Pros

It is well known and looks good from the customers POV

Cons

I have worked with many programs and sites over the years. I don’t know why I am finding this one so difficult to navigate and it wasn’t only me but the three others that were working with me to develop the site for a high end spa in N Seattle.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Squarespace

It looked more user friendly and provided customer interaction too. But we needed up going with Athena and just having a site for customers to interact. Basic with sales and emails. Not appointments and notes. Etc.

### "Great solution for a Small / Medium Business"

March 1, 2023

4.0

We are currently working on updating our web page to add some e-commerce features, this solution proves to be great, easy and we are loving the results so far.

Pros

If you are not a programmer and need to launch a web site or an e-commerce this is a great solution, the design is very user oriented, easy to follow, clear, and have some powerful back-end tools. The UX have some artistic, beautiful and professional templates.

Cons

One issue we had is that they only offer a 14 day trial. On the other hand if they would increase the number of their templates, and settings, it would be much better.

### "It is an ideal tool for website creation "

August 30, 2022

4.0

It is a tool that allows you to create content for business websites in a simple way, it allows you to add images to personalize the sites without major complications, it is adaptable to any company that wants to create a website in a simple way and for professionals in charge of these sites, is an excellent manager

Pros

I like this tool because, in particular, it is quite good because it allows the creation of quite complete and fast creation websites, it has many templates so that content management is much more efficient and fast, the interface of this tool is fast and guarantees that the adaptability will be complete and without inconveniences

Cons

It is not a difficult tool to understand, and from registration to management, it is a reliable and fast way to create websites

### "Website Builder for Designers Who Hate To Code"

June 28, 2022

5.0

Pros

The best feature about Squarespace is that all of the templates are actually one template that you customize. Once you understand how the template works. you can create unique designs for every client that have consistent branding throughout the entire site.

Cons

Some of the stacking and snapping could be loosened up to allow a bit more freeform design. I do believe this is being addressed in the new update.

### "Squarespace makes complicated tasks smooth and easy"

April 29, 2020

5.0

It's been really good! I use Squarespace for my photography portfolio. Back in the day I coded my own websites and it was a pain in the butt. Having Squarespace as an option is just so much better. I can focus on the parts of the process that I enjoy.

Pros

\- It's easy to use and quite easy to customize. There are a lot of possibilities. - Templates are fresh and inspiring. - Interface is smooth and easy to navigate. - Uploading and organizing photos is a dream. It's very easy. - Templates work flawlessly on desktop and mobile - Price is fair (not cheap, but a good value for everything it includes) - The first year was half price with my student email address

Cons

\- There's no way to create a client proofing gallery! This feature would be invaluable to photographers who want to give their clients a way to select which photos they're interested in. - Having a custom email address costs extra (I believe it's $5/month) - The selection of templates is a little limited and sites can have a noticeable Squarespace look. But there is room for customization.

Alternatives considered

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)

Reason for choosing Squarespace

Squarespace is much more professional and there were templates with full-screen photos, which is what I really wanted.

### "Only for basic websites."

January 5, 2020

4.0

You can easily have a decent website in a very short period of time, but it is not for personalized websites. It is recommended for people that want to put together their website by their own and do not have big knowledge on web development or programming.

Pros

Offers a big variety of templates of landing pages and traditional web sites, wich can be slightly adapted. It alouds you to add different elements (text, gallery, and photos) with only one click. If you already have your domain it is easy to configure it with Squarespace. You can produce multilingual pages. It enables you to add an e-commerce module, as well as a contact form page.

Cons

It is not easy to adapt the templates to specific design features. it is tricky to modify pictures sizes and locations. If you are trying to modify the header and footer, you need to do them in each page separately. Only the title and the main menu reproduce through different pages automatically. The logo in the header is not adaptable for multilingual websites, it remains constant.

### "Squarespace - Honest Review"

May 14, 2019

5.0

Overall, I love this platform. I have considered using different platforms but they usually have a higher price point and you have to pay for each individual template. I like that you have new templates constantly coming out and you have access to all of them.

Pros

I've been using Squarespace for my photography business the past 5 years and I love the software. I love the versatility of templates provided and the customization designs. I have changes templates maybe 5 times in the past couple of years. If you're new to creating a website this is a great place to start. It's literally a click and drag method, and the best part is that you get a beautiful website. Customer support is also amazing! Anytime I had a bottle neck I had no issue reaching out and receiving a prompt response.

Cons

After using it for a couple of years there are a few things I wish I was able to do. If you are not a programmer a few small details may really bug you. For instance if you wanted to change the spacing between images you will have to look up code and plug it into the advanced settings. For people who are not programmers it's pretty much a plug and see if it works type of approach. With that said many people post on the Squarespace forums and have provided code that has worked for them and it's been pretty helpful. I really enjoy shopping around for templates and seeing the potential that these templates are able to produce. However, it seems like a lot of coding went into these example layouts in order to get the look that they were able to achieve. I also, wish I was able to save my previous template before fully committing to a new one.

Overall amazing. As a brand designer I create custom websites for clients while only needed to use a minimal amount of code and my clients find the platform easy and aesthetic.

Pros

The ease of use, the aesthetic and they seem to always be improving their software and buying new companies to expand third party integrations.

Cons

The price has been getting higher and they are second to Shopify for e-commerce but hoping they continue to close the gap.

### "Easy to work with at a reasonable price"

March 22, 2022

One of the ways we have benefited from Squarespace is being able to quickly train non-technical employees to use it. We have not experienced any downtimes. The few times we have used it, customer service has been attentive.

Pros

Working with Squarespace requires a short learning curve. Webpages are easily updated and built. The cost is reasonable.

Cons

Squarespace's ease of operation does somewhat limit how pages can be formatted. But I consider this a minor issue.

### "Great website software"

September 2, 2019

5.0

Square space has been great overall, I’m happy with the ease of use and overall customer service. I’ve had a few troubleshooting issues, but overall I’m happy with the price and ease of use for my customers as well.

Pros

Square space is very easy to use. I built my companies website on there and it look me less time it was going to take on some other sites. I am by no means web designer, but square space has thought of so much, that is simplifies a lot of steps for the user. They have a lot of great designs you can choose from and then customize yours from there. The integration is also fantastic because you can work with recommended third party companies for shipping, accounting etc.. I also don’t think there pricing is bad. As a retail business we pay for the consumer piece monthly but if you’re just writing a blog or a smaller less involved website the costs are very low or free. We also have the ability to take off their logos when paying and have our own logos and advertising. We also got a deal with google analytics for it.

Cons

The only thing I struggle with is integrating reviews on my retail inventory. They don’t have a very simple way to code and have an area to have reviews on every piece of inventory and I’m still working on it. I called customer service and they were not helpful in this aspect, but have been very helpful in almost everything else.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

Wiz seemed more confusing to use than square space.

### "I created a Squarespace site for a side project nonprofit business and was surprised by the features"

May 8, 2018

5.0

I was somewhat of an amateur to building a website when I decided to go with Squarespace. It is not idiot-proof by any means, but I was definitely able to make a nice, clean site pretty much on my own. Squarespace has so many features that most small to medium sized businesses could do whatever they need with it at little cost.

Pros

I went in with low expectations because I am used to working with a few different CMS's (Kentico, WordPress) and was assuming I wouldn't be able to do much with SquareSpace because of it's low price, which was ok because I only planned on having a few pages anyway. I was surprised that I could easily build in a Contact Form, eCommerce for Donations, and an Event Calendar. It didn't take me long to get up and running, and was also pleasantly surprised how easy it was to add what I wanted to the CSS to make some changes from the initial template. For the price, you get a clean, modern and responsive website. I honestly don't know why more small mom and pop type stores make the very small investment to have a site that is far superior to many other of the cheap options.

Cons

Although there are quite a few available, there could always be more template options. Many of them seem to be retreads of others. Other than that, there were a few features that took some trial and error before I could figure it out, but most people should be able to get up and running relatively quickly.

### "Point and Click Web Design"

February 12, 2019

5.0

Pros

My grandma could build a webpage with Squarespace. Her grandma could have done it too. It is really that easy to make an honest to goodness professional website. In my small office, we have given editing access to several members of our staff, and allow them to update and improve the website at will. With the edit permission settings on Squarespace, they just can't mess things up. And if they do manage to destroy things, somehow, I know we can reconstruct the whole thing from scratch in an afternoon. The templates are that straightforward. We no longer need to pay a web designer to make changes and do upkeep for us.

Cons

The built in payment system is mandatory. For some businesses, like mine, we are mandated to use specific vendors for credit card processing and just can't go with the provided vendor. That is frustrating.

### "The best website builder!! "

September 5, 2019

5.0

We have a very professional website, the website is optimized, it is easy to use for our clients, and has brought in more business because of the look of our website. We are pleased with using Squarespace, in that it allows us to update our site easily, make necessary changes, we are able to look at the Analytics and make changes based on that information. We are able to invoice clients through the website, so everything looks professional.

Pros

There are so many great features with this software, all laid out beautifully with the interface. You can start designing your website using one of the suggested templates or a blank site, but right away you can add images and text, manipulate the look/size/overall feel of the site. The best part is that you can see how the changes look right away, you can see your site on computer screen, or tablet, phone; you can see how website looks in the different formats. In addition, there are Commerce features and many others that are excellent. Lastly, the way that files are saved are organized, very easy to retrieve and add onto the various pages, structures.

Cons

There are no cons that I have encountered. I am very happy with how the website looks. The one con is that it takes a bit of time to build the website to your desired professional look... but that is expected of any website building experience. That it will take some time to get to the finished result.

We used WordPress for a long time. WOrdpress still required a lot of work, and paying for the premium wordpress sites still ended up with us having to do a lot of maintenance and building of the website. We are not professional website builders so changing from wordpress site to Squarespace made a lot more sense for us.

### "SquareSpace allowed me to take my website to the next level"

October 17, 2018

5.0

Overall, SquareSpace has been a tremendous asset to grow my business and have a nicely designed website that works and handles traffic well.

Pros

Squarespace is easy to use and the design options give me the flexibility to tailor my website easily. It's so easy to use, and no drag and drop here - you simply add blocks from a small pop up menu and then you can move them around on the page. The blog pages are awesome - simple, cleanly designed and easy to add a post. The "duplicate" feature for blog and web pages makes it so much faster for me to add what I need in very little time. And the price is perfect!

Cons

Only issue I have is that when you add a block to the middle or bottom of the page, the whole page jumps up to the top. Once I complete the block, and save it, I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the block and continue adding another block.

### "Great for those who want a website that is customizable without paying someone else to do it for you"

May 26, 2022

4.0

It has been good so far. I’ve designed websites with basic HTML and CSS in the past but it’s been 15 years. This is easy when getting back into design or if you are just learning.

Pros

It is basically easy to learn to use. It is a bit frustrating at first but one you get the hang of it you should enjoy using it.

Cons

At first you aren’t sure if you want a trial or subscription. Don’t build much until you know because you will have to start all over.

### "A Pricey But Worthy Website Builder"

April 19, 2019

5.0

Pros

Squarespace is a simple yet powerful website builder. If you have barely any IT or design background, Squarespace takes care of the most difficult parts of designing a website. While I'm using Squarespace, I feel safe knowing that I'm using a simple product powerful enough to fit my design skills(or lack thereof) and preferred final product of website. You won't find a product as stunning and simple as Squarespace

Cons

For those who want to take a more hands-on design approach, this website builder may not be the best solution. Since it's designed for beginner to mid-level website designers, it does not have a wide variety of code implementation or customization. You'll be primarily stuck in the website template you chose from the beginning, which isn't a bad thing if you're not savvy with code and website customization.

### "Simple, efficient and easy website design and management"

May 17, 2023

4.0

Overall, I will continue to use Squarespace over other comparable options (Wordpress, Wix, GoDaddy, etc) due to the simplicity and ease with which it allows for website design/management and the options that are preset. The only real detriment is that it does not allow for certain specific modifications/configurations of their templates. Still very user-friendly and worthwhile.

Pros

Squarespace makes designing a website with only basic knowledge of web design an option for individuals and small businesses looking to create a website on their own.

Cons

I wish there were more options (optional) when it came to making changes and customizations in the preset templates
