### "Semi-easy interface, lots of template options. Great designs."

August 28, 2018

5.0

Overall, I like SquareSpace enough to keep using it.

Pros

The templates are very pretty and the interface is mostly intuitive. I was able to design my Website in a weekend and was very pleased with the results. A year later, I updated it by changing the template. It took another couple of days to do this, but I love that it's easy enough to change and breathe new life into the site.

Cons

The interface isn't always intuitive and can get annoying if you don't know how to do something. And it's not easy getting used to searching for a solution amongst the hundreds (probably thousands) of help videos they have out there. Would be nice to talk to a human who can help occasionally.

### "The gold standard of website builders."

December 5, 2019

5.0

I run our company website (we're a digital signage software company) on SquareSpace including the e-commerce portion, which links up to Shipstation for order fulfillment (which in turn links to our Amazon warehouses around the world). It's easy to manage pages, blogs, e-commerce, SEO and more with SquareSpace.

Pros

Squarespace is a superb platform that anyone can use to build a stunning, responsive website. It's geared toward marketers and designers rather than coders, yet has powerful features and integrations.

Cons

I don't have any complaints about Squarespace. It would be nice to see additional template options in the future, and perhaps an easier way to make multilingual websites. But the existing features are all excellent.

### "Squarespace is eternity behind "

August 20, 2019

2.0

I chose this software for its basic features and promise to be simple and quick to build. It was not rocket science but certainly not quick either. The menu is very convoluted and confusing and it doesn’t encourage you to change material out frequently

Pros

Aesthetically pleasing when finished product is complete

Cons

Squarespace is marketed as an easy to use platform especially for busy creatives. It’s far from that. And the price is extremely steep for what the competition offers for far less

Reason for choosing Squarespace

It was popular and advertised everything I was looking for

### "The best way to advertise your business!"

October 21, 2019

5.0

I had used another website maker when I first started my company but I’m so glad I found Squarespace! The program over all is amazing. You’re able to design your website with whatever pictures, graphics, fonts & colors you like. You can personalize the website to your consumers liking and you’re able to get feedback from the customers in real time. I’m not tech savvy at all and this program made me feel like I had been designing websites my entire life! If you’re a business owner, there’s no need to pay someone to design a website with technology like Squarespace. Plus, for the price you’d be crazy to go anywhere else!

Pros

Ease of use, free trial, monthly price after free trial, the ability to make changes whenever you want, the options to chose from as far as color, graphics, fonts etc. and just the overall ease of use.

Cons

The only thing I can semi complain about was getting used to the software and how to work the program in the beginning!

Reason for choosing Squarespace

The price, the things you can do within the website, the options you have to make your website as personal as you want and the ease of use.

### "Great In A Pinch!"

August 28, 2018

5.0

My experience was incredible and simple, I felt at ease making a website and found it fun. They used game-ification to create a website builder that is reminiscent of creating a sim. I appreciate the effort that went into this software, and the list of cons I have provided were mostly speculative, so my experience was a solid 10/10!

Pros

This software allows one to create an incredibly pleasing website that works well for a fraction of the cost of what it would take a developer to do. Users have the choice between several prefabricated websites that suit different business goals and aesthetics, perfect for a mass market, specialized clients and more simple clients. The user interface surrounding the software is super simple to understand, reading from left to right, set up in a simple menu format making it intuitive to read and work with. The array of sliders, text options and buttons at the users disposal make it easy to tailor a website to specific needs or aesthetics.

Cons

I found the software to be a bit slow and confusing regarding the use of bounding boxes, however I think this has since been updated and the newer version of square space has a more solid snap to point functionality. The other thing is that their range of websites may not actually be vast and different enough to appeal to the sheer number of people on the internet. If everyone used Squarespace, the internet may begin to look monotonous.

### "Clean Websites for All."

September 11, 2018

5.0

By using Squarespace for the majority of the websites I have designed, I have the ability to create an impressive expression of each brand I work with. I've been able to dream bigger for content on each page, while still having the functionality and clean user interface that anyone would hope for upon visiting a website for the first time.

Pros

Squarespace provides great tools for any kind of entity to create a clean, functional website with plenty of room to get creative and express their brand in a variety of ways. From their customizable templates with myriad options for getting the look and feel just right, to the support they offer when things don't work quite as you'd expect them to.

Cons

There are some built-in limitations to their sites. I wish they were a bit more open-source so that you could customize even more of the elements on each page. And the limitations on number of pages is too restrictive in their entry-level plan. The next step up to a business account is prohibitively expensive with commerce features I do not need. I wish there was a tier in-between.

### "Wonderful Tool & Easy especially for beginners!"

July 5, 2018

5.0

Pros

Squarespace is a really great product because it allows you to build on top of beautiful, professional designs, but you can also tweak it enough if you have the skills, to be completely unique without doing a lot of extra back-end work. If you don't know how to code but you want to have a lot of control over the way your site works and looks, it is absolutely perfect. I love Squarespace because of the very clean and simple layouts you can use, the ease with which you can edit and also the customer service is quote good. Any time I have had a problem, the customer service has been 9/10 helpful and when it wasn't, I ended up being able to solve my own problems after a bit of poking around.

Cons

What I would like to see improved is the organization for bigger sites. I manage several websites, and one of my bigger clients has quite a lot of information and pages required, even after slimming content down to a bare minimum. It is sometimes quite confusing when going through larger website trying to find certain pages, content, or being able to edit that content. It can sometimes be quite frustrating and on those occasions, customer service obviously can't help. I know there must be a better way! Over all the organization is perfectly fine for smaller sites, but when its a service being paid for, I'd love to have something less "cookie-cutter" for other types of clients.

### "Favorite Webdesign Program "

June 5, 2018

5.0

User-friendly software that helped us develop the perfect websites for our businesses.

Pros

I adore how easy it is to customize websites with Squarespace. It's definitely changing the web presence of small businesses online. Squarespace is affordable, user friendly and very customizable. It makes designing a tailored website for your business a breeze.

Cons

I wish there was an easier way to report phishing scams. I receive about 1 email a month from a company pretending to be Squarespace asking for me to update my payment information. Fortunately, the false emails are easy to spot as they are from random email addresses that have no affiliation with the site itself.

### "The best website development resource for a newbie "

May 2, 2018

5.0

Squarespace has helped me set up a number of websites in record time. All analytics, SEO and data are accessible with mobile apps which never leaves me guessing.

Pros

No knowledge of HTML or CSS is needed to build a beautiful website with squarespace. While I do have a basic knowledge of web design/development, I'd rather not deal with the intricacies of stylesheets. There is a reason this company is growing so fast, the themes are beautiful, modular and remarkably simple to use.

Cons

The number of themes is somewhat limited and can really put you in a corner in terms of design. Websites often can "look" like they're from a pre-made theme if you don't put the work in to customize them.

### "A life saver isn a very complicated reality"

May 15, 2021

5.0

With Covid very much decimating our sale, we had the opportunity to circle back to our company website. And man am I happy. This software is easy to use, is fully mobile responsive, and has just everything that I need to stay in business. So far we have switched 2 of our websites to Squarespace and we are extremely happy with the result. We have gotten so many great compliments from clients and even our next-door neighbor, who also signed up to Squarespace after I mention it to her. We were using a different software before, but it was a nightmare. Buying themes, and updates were always causing issues, now I don't even have to think about that. I can focus on making my website user-friendly and provide the information my clients need. All the technical aspects I leave it to the pros.

Pros

Easy to use, the drag and drop elements is a breeze. Compared to Gutentor in WordPress (which is clunky, slow, and very hard to navigate) Squarespace is an easy walk in the park

Cons

The pricetag, which is great for a medium business but Small or seasonal business not so much.(Which is the case with another of my clients)

easy to use

### "I will never switch to anything else"

March 29, 2022

5.0

Pros

I love how simple Squarespace is to build a site. I have used it to build over 8 websites. It's very functional and classy. I don't think it is possible to build a bad site on Squarespace... their templates are so beautiful and easy to customize.

Cons

Although I do love their pricing structure and think it is very affordable... I don't like how much it is to add on certain features. It cost quite a bit more to add ecommerce to your site or to utilize their email marketing and so forth. I wish it was all built in to one package.

### "Anyone can be a Website Builder with Squarespace"

May 6, 2022

5.0

Pros

I like how easy it is for me and my colleague's to create new pages and edit the website with ease. I do not have to be the only person who has the knowledge to manage our webpage. Anyone can learn how to manage the website by using the help section and taking their time to learn.

Cons

I do not have any issues with the software so far. It was easy to attach the host along with the website, which I thought would be so difficult.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

I used Wix before and did not like the lack of options for the templates. I can always tell a Wix webpage compared to others.

### "My favorite website builder of all"

December 3, 2019

5.0

It's my favorite website builder of them all. It's harder to customize than the traditional web site and the price is a little higher than some other options. However, you can do a lot more with it than other builders allow. There's even some moving themes that I love. Once you get your bearings you can understand how to use it and really see everything they have to offer. You pay a bit more but you get your money's worth. You're also able to create a custom domain for an additional 20 dollars a year which is a great deal to me.

Pros

You get your money's worth. There's more options than any other website builder. You're able to create a custom domain for a great price.

Cons

It can be harder to work through when customizing your site. You have to pay a bit more than some other builder site options out there.

### "Best outlet to making the perfect webpage"

July 8, 2018

5.0

Very beneficial as it is easy to change the layout of your current site with a new one with ease

Pros

I started using this site because a photographer that I follow had given out a promo code. I love this site becuase when signing up for the free trial, I do to have to provide my credit card. That is a good thing because sometimes after a free trial, I will forget to cancel if I dont like it and next thing you know, I am charged for the service to continue. Well needless to say, after my trial was over, I was happy to continue use of this web building site. I have created so many different lay outs of my site very quickly and easily. The catetgories of templates are fun and easy to use.

Cons

There are just too many settings on the side bar tree to go into. Once I change something somewhere, I have to remember where I went so in the future, I am not on a wild goose chase to figure out which one of the tree branches I used to make a particular edit. the other thing I didnt like about it is the blog page. Unless I am doing something wrong, I am not able to map my blogs into other social media outlets such as facebook. So this is not to say its a bad product, its mainly to say that I find it hard to figure out how to get my new blog into this site, to map into Facebook to let my followers know to go over to my site and check out my new blog.

### "User-friendly for basic, nice-looking websites"

June 18, 2021

4.0

If you're looking for a basic website, with a landing page, maybe a blog, and a few pages of basic information, then Squarespace is great for that. It's so easy to use that pretty much anybody online can handle it. If you want something more advanced, you'll want to look elsewhere.

Pros

It's very easy to set-up and use. The website templates are all very gorgeous and it's very simple to customize them, you basically just drag and drop so there's no coding required, although you can modify them with some coding.

Cons

Sometimes it's a little too basic. You have to find work-arounds to modify certain assets and you're pretty much locked in to the options they provide you with, so you don't have the freedom that you might have with something like WordPress. My biggest complaint is that you can no longer switch templates on the fly. Now, if you decide you want a major change, you have to build a new website and then talk to customer service to transfer your payment plan to that new website. It's a hassle.

### "Used it for a year, but moved on to more customizable solutions"

March 25, 2022

4.0

We had a company marketing website on Squarespace. It was ok in the beginning, but soon it turned out that editing the templates was quite limited, and there were functionalities we needed but were not available. So after the first year, we moved on to a more customized CMS on our own server. I think Squarespace is ok for simple websites that need to be up and running really fast.

Pros

Squarespace is a good choice when one needs to create a simple website without customized functionalities.

Cons

We run into a lot of issues when we needed to customize the templates, we found out that the possibilities were actually quite limited. Furthermore, when systems like this are lacking some functionalities, you simply cannot create them by yourself, so in case you need something more complex, you are stuck.

Alternatives considered

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)[Drupal](https://www.capterra.com/p/119594/Drupal/)[WordPress](https://www.capterra.com/p/131687/WordPress/)[Joomla](https://www.capterra.com/p/161648/Joomla/)

Reason for choosing Squarespace

Wix was very limited and not very functional at the time when we had our trial. The whole system felt somewhat repulsive and non-professional so we didn't choose it. We also thought about using a free CMS but ended up using Squarespace for a year. Later we moved to Joomla after realizing the disabilities and limitations of Squarespace.

### "people are surprised when I tell them I built my website myself!"

January 8, 2019

5.0

I've been using Squarespace for MANY years, and use it for my business website. Clients comment all the time about how visually stunning it is, and are surprised when I tell them I put the site together MYSELF. There are lots of amazing template designs to start from, and it's incredibly easy to drag and drop things into place to customize even further. Squarespace also offers incredible SEO (search engine optimization), as many of my clients are finding me through Google searches!

Pros

You don't need to know any coding to create a beautiful (and effective) website. And each Squarespace site is automatically modified for MOBILE devices, too, meaning that you don't have to tweak or create a secondary mobile-friendly site (as is necessary with many other website builders).

Cons

After using Squarespace for many, many years, there are small tweaks I wish were available... such as the ability to have more than one pop-up (specified for different pages), and some templates don't allow for SEO terms to be added specifically to the pages or else they pop up as text in the header image.

### "Easiest Website Builder There Is"

April 23, 2019

5.0

After using almost all the different no-coding-required website builders out there, I think Squarespace is the fastest and easiest way to build a website, especially if you have e-commerce. Everything is integrated into their platform so it is very streamlined.

Pros

Squarespace is not your average blogging site. It is made for businesses, both small and large. It is easy to use - you simply drag and drop elements to where you want it to be on your page. No coding is necessary. They also have tons of templates you can easily adopt so even if you are not a web designer, your end product looks professional and beautiful.

Cons

In Squarespace, there is almost more than one way to do something. This is great for tech-savvy folks who want more options. However, when training my clients to manage their website, it has been a bit more challenging because they only want to learn one method and the various options confuse them. I would recommend that Squarespace cleans up some of its elements a little bit so it is easier for a new user to know the difference between each other.

### "Secure, Easy, Fast"

November 12, 2019

Squarespace was a great switch to make after experience security and functionality problems with WordPress.

Pros

Squarespace takes all of the guess work out of building a functional, fast, and beautiful website for current and new customers.

Cons

Some functions you may want to customize might be unavailable depending on the template you choose. You could easily have a site that looks too similar to another company if your brand message isn't solid, as templates are pretty stock. Some features are locked behind a premium plan.
