January 17, 2018 5.0 Pros The task of creating my own website was a daunting one when I first set out, but this software is so incredibly easy to use! I was able to create a website I am proud of in no time! They have amazingly descriptive step by step instructions on some of the more difficult aspects of design and integration. Best of all their customer service blows me away which is extremely rare in this day and age. They respond in less than 24 hours and the last person I connected with even created a custom video for me to help with something I later felt dumb for even asking. There is not a single thing that I could think of that this software is lacking. Very happy with my decision to use it and it is worth every single penny. Cons There really isn't anything I've come across that I don't like about this software and I really looked. As with any software I pay monthly for I was definitely looking for a reason not to spend but they have given me none. Everything from design to ease of use has seriously been more than I could ask for and the fact that their customer service department is on point has me sold for life. I guess the only con that I could even think of would be that it costs any money at all, but you really get what you pay for where this software is concerned. Review Source AH April H. It has every option that I want for a small artist's website. I have used it for years and it seems like Squarespace keeps up with innovations and feels contemporary. Cons The only thing that I don't like is that it can be hard to find help if I am having an issue. Contacting customer service is not easy, and often I have to jump through some hoops before being able to send an email to customer service. That said, I haven't had a problem in a while, so I can't speak to any recent experience with that. I have also built several sites for friends and colleagues including a yoga studio, a nursery, an independent publishing house, and a community choir. I find Squarespace intuitive and easy to use with good analytics. I recently upgraded my sites from version 5 to 7 and I’m very happy with the look and feel of Squarespace 7. Highly recommended. Pros The beautiful, clean look of Squarespace and ease of customising design. Scalability for display on mobile devices. Excellent customer support which is consistently prompt in response time, friendly and helpful. Cons Nothing comes to mind, I’ve been using Squarespace for 9 years through various versions and I’m happy to continue doing so. It’s a smartly designed CMS that has a not so steep learning curve. Pros I like how easy it is to get started and not having to tinker too much to make something that looks good. Cons When you try to go deeper as a power user there are issues that squarespace themselves are not able to answer. We couldn't update it ourselves, so it was always old news. It looked outdated and was hard for the customer to find us. Squarespace fixed all our problems. Easy to use and customize, we could build it and update it ourselves. Makes us look good, and new costumer inquiries have gone up wince we launched it. Pros Can I say everything! We switched over from our old website, and it allowed us to build our own website. It was so easy to use it cut out the middleman in us having to hire a webpage designer. It was easy to use. Easy to customize, while still making sure we looked good and like we know what we're doing. We've had way more new costumers making inquiries since we launched our new site through squarespace! Cons Nothing. It's everything I hoped and I have no complaints. March 22, 2019 5.0 As an agency focused on strategic marketing, we often rely on Squarespace as a quick and easy platform to get a client website up and running without investing a lot of time, while still being sure that the end result will look top-notch and extremely professional. Pros The best thing about Squarespace is that no matter what you do with it, it's always going to come out looking amazing from a visual perspective. I don't think I've ever seen a bad template on Squarespace and you can plug in almost any type of media and content when building out your site, and get really professional-looking results on the front end. Cons While it's super easy to use, it also doesn't allow you the flexibility of nearly any other CMS. If you have some scripting or coding abilities and you're used to being able to make really granular changes to your design by editing your CSS, Squarespace could be more annoying than useful. The inability to integrate different pieces of code exactly where and how you want them, as well as not having the freedom to make minor CSS or JavaScript tweaks to your website code means that if you're coming from a CMS like WordPress, you're going to feel like you have one hand tied behind your back. The way you can create themes and let that carry over to the creation of the rest of your site was a huge time saver. Cons My biggest complaint is the limited shipping functionality. I would love it if you could pick a default shipping option. The shipping option that is selected by default is chosen by price. This is unfortunate when I offer a free shipping option for local buyers. People from other states just gloss over that section, and then it selects free shipping for them. First I faced some difficulty understanding the concept then I get used to it. Overall it was a great experience and a time-saving deal. Pros 1) It's cheap in cost. 2) It contains a variety of pre-defined templates. 3) Squarespace is beneficial for eCommerce and non-eCommerce websites. 4) It does have the support for custom CSS code. Cons 1) There are a couple of premade layouts but not good from a design perspective. 2) Customization can be improved. I love that that templates just work and I can easily customize it to include everything we want and need without having to go through a third party. The app is so helpful for quick edits on my phone when I'm out of the office. Cons Would like to be able to have announcement banners on the front page without paying more. It's difficult to highlight an event or create urgency with the current set up. Reason for choosing Squarespace We chose it because of the pricing and the ease of use. It provides useful analytics and intuitive interface that makes my job easier. Pros Squarespace offers me the ability to design websites for my clients, and for myself, that are simple and beautiful. When I say simple, I mean simple for the user. I am still afforded many design tools that allow me to dive deep when I want to. I build sites for clients that want to be able to do simple upkeep themselves and this is the perfect solution to give them high-end quality sites that they can still update without cracking into code. Cons There are times when I would like to do certain things that aren't possible within the certain template for example, putting in a callout text box. But, in a way Squarespace saves you from yourself so you don't go text-box-crazy and clutter up the page. Pros My biggest reason for starting to use Squarespace was when I began my business I wanted an easy templated builder to use. I can't tell you the hours I wasted in Squarespace to have a mediocre website. I think the only pro I can think of is that the pricing is pretty inexpensive and there are some nice templates if you select the right one the first time and don't want to change between them. Cons The rigidity of the templates was difficult. Unless you molded your copywriting to the template there were limited changes that you could make. I know some people who like Squarespace, but I could not figure out why. Once I moved to Wordpress and used the Divi builder from Elegant Themes I knew I'd never go back. I recommend it to people who are comfortable working with a "what you see is what you get" environment and will adjust their expectations and plans around what's offered. Pros Great if you're not looking for out-of-the-box type customizations. If you're more of a DIY and don't have much of a budget for a web developer, Squarespace is an excellent option. I've always loved their clean templates and their backend interface. Whether you want to blog, showcase your portfolio, need a website to present your business, or you're looking for an eCommerce solution, you can't go wrong. Given all the built-n benefits (encryption and security, customer support, eCommerce, etc) their prices are very reasonable. Scales well for growing websites. Cons You need to research your templates and make sure you'll be able to customize the features you want. Not all templates can be swapped or translate well to another template. If you need to force your website to do something it doesn't already have a an option to do, it can require a lot of tricky CSS or javascript and might not be worth the time. Also, it would be better to choose services that already integrate with Squarespace and not the other way around (Stripe etc). Some people might find their Personal plan lacking. Squarespace can support large websites with page limit of 1000. Cons It has bad page loading speed, website editor needs to be improved because it lacks autosave after each change and changes will be posted publicly instead of draft after saving.
