Used it for 2 months even though it was paid for for a year, I switched right away! Pros Absolutely nothing ! Was hard to navigate and definitely not user friendly! Review Source VR Verified Reviewer CMO Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Great desktop functionality, mobile view is lacking" November 22, 2024 4.0 Good, I still use it but I really hope someone from Squarespace see's my notes in the cons section. Pros Square Space to me is still the best tool out there to get a website out quickly, but it does have quick a few things lacking still (see below). It has a good amount of templates that you can customize really easily, but they do all look a bit templately still. Cons 1) The mobile view cannot be adjusted. Anything you edit from the mobile view will affect the desktop view. I think Squarespace should take a page from UnBounce who lets to optimize the mobile side separately from the desktop side. 2) There needs to be more ajax and jquery type animation functionality to help the website look less templately. Any type of animation is essentially no-existent outside of galleries fading in and the text underline. 3) I don't like how Squarespace is constantly spamming me to upgrade to the eCommerce plan when I'm not making a eCommerce website. They've even added an error icon next to one of the templates I'm using now. This is very annoying. Of all the builders it's really just difficult. It's not terribly intuitive and getting the right result can often be a little hard to do. People often complain about squarespace and it's performance in search, but I will say that they come miles with that over the years and it does now perform reasonably well in search. That said, it's still a pain to use. Pros It makes it simplish to build a website if you don't have a ton of technical skills Cons It's expensive for what you get, the builder itself is pretty rigid and a bit hard to use (even for our actual web developers). The website design was user friendly, the payment gateway was tricky at first but once integrated with the squarespace account it was easy to use. Pros For the price we were able to create an online store that can be programmed easily and maintained easily. Cons None to be mentioned at the moment, it delivers what it's supposed to. Overall though, it's an amazing tool for collaboration and documentation, but there is a bit of a learning curve. Pros Clean and easy to use, great features for creating and organizing documentation. Integrates seamlessly with other tools like Jira. The templates are super helpful for getting started quickly, and it's really easy to customize pages. Cons Pricing can be a bit steep, especially for small teams. It takes some time to get used to all the features and advanced configurations, which can be overwhelming for new users. Pros The simple interface was what I liked most, especially as someone who struggles with too much stimuli on the daily. I also appreciated the many available templates, which reduce decision fatigue but allows for small changes in design if desired. The new AI tool is helpful, as well. Cons I would say the only downside is there were limited templates that fit my needs or it could’ve just been me not really knowing what I wanted in general. I do recommend this product, even with little to no experience. Pros I really did enjoy creating my website with using Squarespace. The initial setup guide is a great tool, to get you started. It was very easy to add custom pages, elements and change the site style. You don't need a ton of experience, as they make it so easy to embed calendars and other files. The domain module is so easy to use, they do make that almost dummy proof. Cons The font system needs work. You have to set your font system in your site style and can only have 3 font styles and you have to use them or you have to change your entire site style font system, but that changes the edits on the website you already saved. While the site style is easy to edit. You should be able to just change the font. I also think the customer service is lacking. They haven't been very responsibe luckily I figured out my issue on my own. Pros The ease of use and plug-and-play nature of services. The templates for design are easy to use and help build beautiful sites that fit the needs for our business. Cons There were certain web building tools that I wish we could have had access to fully customize the website. April 9, 2025 5.0 Squarespace provides the perfect balance between being user friendly for new web designers (or DIY business owners) with it's templates and plug-and-play type website templates, while still being able to achieve really stunning websites that don't look too blocky. Pros I loved their stunning ready to use templates. They make building your own website really easy and they don't look like generic templates that are boring. Cons Their AI builder is a little limited. If you have a unique niche, it won't be able to help you very much as it works based on categories, and most of my client's businesses are too unique to gain help from any of the AI tools when designing. Pros Squarespace simplifies having a website and selling products and/or services online. You can have a site with a clean look without much development or design experience. Cons The biggest cons I have experienced with Squarespace is first it is not very customizable. Some settings you have to change globally instead of a page by page basis.
