### "Squared up for years! "

April 6, 2021

5.0

I absolutely love it! I would not change my choice.

Pros

When I began I had zero web design skills and Square Space made it super easy for me to build. It's the user friendly for me.

Cons

I dislike the ability to use various fonts throughout the website without having to go in and change the core 3 fonts.

Image was too difficult for a beginner. Not user friendly at all.

### "Great for my new e-commerce site!"

July 24, 2018

5.0

Pros

User capabilities, customer service is fantastic, the templates they offer are great starting points and then you can really make them your own.

Cons

This is definitely not for the faint of heart - you have to be in it to really get the most out of using Squarespace, which can be frustrating to some who are new to web design.

Cons

Sad, cover page plans are retired. Please modernize the blog app. No other complaints. I've used a ton of other services, products, developers and none compare.

### "Increased Sales at a Small Gallery"

February 19, 2019

5.0

Pros

The software was intuitive, the customer service was always available. We were able to increase sales to the point where it was as though we added a month to our profit and we also had the best year we had had at that point so my belief was that the reach we had to our consumers was greater.

Cons

In my last go of it, it was a little bit more difficult because the clients needs were really different- he created one-of-a-kind fine art so it was a different challenge to create a website that matched his aesthetic for keeping the art work true to form.

### "Squarespace offers simple websites & hosting, without much ability for growth"

February 18, 2021

4.0

I used Squarespace for a while since I had inherited it from my predecessor, but immediately started working to build the site on Wordpress instead.

Pros

I inherited a Squarespace website from our previous web manager, and was struck by the simplicity of the features & abilities Squarespace offered. For quick and easy web designs, Squarespace made it very easy to build simple web pages and manage an entire website, without requiring in-depth knowledge of web design or management. Paired with their web hosting solution, Squarespace is an easy system for people new to web design.

Cons

Squarespace's simplicity is both a selling point, but also the reason I ultimately switched to wordpress. The simplicity makes it easy to create a website, but also locks you into a familiar looking theme that cannot be customized past the surface level. Simple things like multiple columns, adding videos/livestreams, adding CSS/HTML/JS, all became nearly impossible; creating a simple website that could not truly be customized to fit our needs. That paired with a complicated UI (hiding important features like redirections deep within the menus), and lacking features (such as plugins, head code, etc), made Squarespace not ideal for my companies needs.

### "Perfect for small businesses"

February 11, 2021

5.0

Very easy to use and set up. Setting up PayPal, Mailchimp and all my other programs with Squarespace was easy and simple. I change the look of my website almost seasonally so the drag and drop feature to rearrange to site is a time saver. No more coding! I save time and sanity.

Pros

Super easy to use and navigate. For the price, it's prefect for an up and coming small business. It has all the features I need to fun a shop, blog and newsletter all in one place.

Cons

The only improvements I would like to see is the option to add a forum (without a third party plug-in) and the options to set a limit amount on products while offering more than one option (like a quantity of 10 shirts total, without having to set a different quantity for each size, color or style).

### "Useful software for people who are website newbies"

August 29, 2019

3.0

I purchased and used a Squarespace website on two occasions -- once for a non-profit I ran, and once for a small startup business. Setup was very easy but I soon was frustrated by the lack of customization and the added costs to make it do exactly what I wanted. I kept both sites open for about two years before moving one of them to another platform. It was somewhat difficult to cancel my account, too. A lot of hoops to jump through.

Pros

It is a very easy system to learn and you can set up a website very quickly. The look and feel of the tools are modern, features are easy to use. Lots of nice templates to choose from, and lots of help if you need it.

Cons

If you do know anything about website development you'll be frustrated with this software. There is not a lot of customizing you can do -- and much of what you can add will cost you more. And sometimes it just takes a lot of steps to get a task done.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

At the time I chose Squarespace because I could start the websites for free and give them a good test run before purchasing. That was very helpful. I also like the variety of templates they have for different industries and organizations.

### "A great CMS tool"

May 27, 2019

5.0

Overall, that's a good software to use creating websites and managing them. Anyone with less website development knowledge can create their own websites easily. A good impression.

Pros

I am using Squarespace for a long time and I love using this tool to create websites. There is no Domain and hosting connectivity problems. All you need to just select a template and create your website and then you can manage it easily. You can change the style of any element and make your website secure too. That's all you can get only on one click and cheap pricing.

Cons

In Squarespace, you need to select any template and then you can only design its specific things. If you want the full access of your website and if you want to install any external script or plugin, Squarespace doesn't allow and even you can't get full access for the backend. That's a bit annoying.

### "Website heaven!"

December 3, 2019

5.0

I really enjoy using Squarespace and I love how easy it is to set up - everything is working seamlessly together and the option to customize your website is endless - given that you’re familiar and/or comfortable with coding.

Pros

Squarespace is a great website hosting platform straight out of the box - meaning that it’s ready to use as is. What I love the most is how flexible everything is . It also comes with a gorgeous selections of premade templates that required little customization but super customizable all at the same time! I also love the UI/UX of the software since it’s so user friendly!

Cons

The absence of plugins. I think it’d be even more awesome if they have the option to install plugin but I also think that Squarespace doesn’t even need one. Also, if you’re thinking of migrating from Wordpress, there’s a bit of a learning curve involved since everything looks totally different.

### "Good tool but not perfect...!"

September 6, 2018

4.0

Pros

I'm a returning customer of Squarespace and i usually use it when I need to have a fast made site looking good. And based on those criteria I have found an effective tool, I like the functionality and simplicity. and the templates are relatively easy to personalize in the look and feel.

Cons

There are a couple of things that are somehow obnoxious about the platform. The first is that every site made in Squarespace is very similar to the next one. I think their templates are getting a bit passé; of course, I understand that is not an easy task to grow as fast in all areas simultaneously, but still, as a recurrent client diversification is a need. The other thing I'm not very happy about is the price hike for business which well I'm not sure if I'm getting more value for money..maybe I am, but I'm not sure yet...and for me that's an issue..

### "Excellent For Simplistic and Beautiful Design"

October 14, 2020

4.0

Squarespace is excellent for a simplistic web layout for a portfolio, contact forms, e-mail marketing campaigns, and more. All-in-all it's an excellent choice for those that want a professional looking website without having to shell out hundreds of dollars for a developer. I've used it myself as all of these things, and will continue to do so in the future provided I do not require advanced features that Squarespace doesn't support.

Pros

The Ease of set up on Squarespace is unmatched, I had my site built and running in a matter of 30 minutes, they also offer plenty of layouts and customization options to make your site extremely beautiful and unique.

Cons

Once you try getting into more advanced features things become difficult, whereas if you were paying a developer(which would be much pricier mind you) you could just tell him/her exactly what you wanted. This isn't necessarily the case on Squarespace.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Squarespace

Squarespace has a much easier set up, getting you a professional looking result in a much shorter period of time compared to WordPress.

### "Great for those who aren't experienced in coding"

July 27, 2020

4.0

Pros

Squarespace is a great site for those who have little to know coding knowledge. It's user friendly. I love the minimalistic themes that allow my brand and information to show through. Easy to add pages, images, etc.

Cons

Customer support is lacking. It's not extremely customizable, but I don't need it to be.

### "Definitely recommend this tool"

March 11, 2020

5.0

It's a great tool, overall, very powerful and useful for any business. Pricing could be a bit smaller, but it's not outrageous. Even though we are trying to find cheaper products. It's also about compatibility with the other major products.

Pros

It's easy to manage a business with it, keep track of employees time check ins, it takes care of all the taxes and I can set up an online store on it. It's great!

Cons

Mobile app doesn't have Time check ins. That's an inconvenience and I have to go to the full site on my cell every time to adjust things if i need to.

### "top choice, but losing momentum"

July 30, 2019

4.0

Overall, an smooth and easy start-up with minimal investment.

Pros

The slider makes payment super easy, particularly in situations where people aren't carrying cash. The website templates are a quick way to get going, but allow a minimal amount of customization compared to e.g. Wix. This makes it very accessible to people with minimal IT skills

Cons

Services that used to be free or in the lower service tiers are moving higher up the pay scale, making Squarespace less competitive than it used to be. The layout isn't super intuitive and takes a few tries to figure out how to do what you want.

### "Intuitive, but unoriginal"

September 23, 2019

3.0

Used for my band's website as we had to get something up quick. Very good for ease, not good for freshness or originality.

Pros

Lots of templates available, each with options to customise settings that had been preset to each template. Easy to get your website online, not breaking the bank.

Cons

Unable to upload own pages or download current website as HTML document, restricting you to the options that have been pre-made in the template, causing an array of unoriginal sites around the web.

### "Great Looking Sites, Easy to Build"

October 7, 2022

5.0

I'm happy with Squarespace and I expect that I'll use it again when the need arises.

Pros

I've built multiple visually appealing, easy to navigate sites with Squarespace. I am not a developer, but the tools are easy to use, once you learn how to use them.

Cons

There is a learning curve to getting good with Squarespace, but it's been much easier for me to learn Squarespace than Wordpress.

### "Great Product"

July 25, 2019

5.0

overall, great experience. Would highly recommend to other small business owners

Pros

We love using square space for our inflatable business. We love that it gives us access to run our customers credit cards on the app and deposits the money directly into our account. It gives small businesses like ours ease when running credit cards and taking payments from customers.

Cons

I least like that sometimes the actual card reader will not work, so we will have to run the card across the reader several times and it makes our customers a little uncomfortable.

### "Easy to use, beautiful websites! "

May 4, 2018

5.0

Pros

The very best part of Squarespace is how easy it is to use while still delivering a great looking product. I love that my clients can use it themselves to make small changes to their website when needed without completely ruining the design of the website.

Cons

Some of the templates can get a little glitchy. I have a Staff photo page, for example, that is super finicky to edit because every time something moves the whole page shifts and there isn't an easy way to get it all back together.
