But the more you need to use it, the more boxed in you feel. If you are looking for design freedom, it's not the software to use. Pros It has great out of the box templates that look amazing. Everything feels polished without much effort. Cons Its really rigid. There is very little design freedom and if you dont use the exact design they give you, everything gets real complex. " December 6, 2024 5.0 I know how to setup a website in Wordpress, on a server, but I would again switch to Squarespace. I am happy not to be bothered with a number of other time consuming tasks that you need to take care in WP. It is very easy to start a website! Pros You can set-up a website literally in minutes! Cons I miss a better language support, Slovenian for example. Changing design of the website is not the easiest task to do. Not a deal breaker, though. We have a relatively simple website and it is really easy to edit and add to our website as needed. I don't need to use any code or special plugins to build the website which is great. Pros It is easy to set up a basic website and use the drag and drop editor. It's very straightforward to pick up from the start and you don't have to be a web developer to use it. It has been essential in helping me to showcase my work, find clients and build my business. Pros Squarespace can surprise you with how easy it is to build a beautiful website. Their templates are beautiful and contemporary, they have an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, and they have built-in features from blogging to ecommerce. Your attention to detail along with aesthetics adds charm to my website. Pros User friendliness is next to none when it comes to managing a website for a small business. Cons The cost of squarespace is high for a a single or two person business operation. Pros \- Templates provided are an awesome starting place for inspiration and providing a foundation to build a site. - Soooo many fonts available - Loads of options for customization - Plenty options to build a site depending on your type of business - Helpful options for setting up a shop page - Awesome integrations - Options to build your shop if you're selling things - Intuitive, clean interface, easy to understand - Affordable price for a basic shop site for a small business Cons \- I wish there was more of a free-form dragging feature. The grid formatting can be feel limiting in placing things on a webpage. However, I admit I am very ignorant about the nuances about how web design must work on a practical level, so I don't know if grid-based placement is necessary for website design or something. Our plan was to utilize Squarespace as a tool in our tool chest of accepting donations. We quickly learned that limiting ourselves to using it only at offsite events was not maximizing the benefits they offer. In the two years we have used Squarespace, we have gone from using it a few times a month to replacing our entire payment system. With companies like Squarespace offering low fees and processing costs while maximizing the value for user, I don’t know how traditional payment processors will be able to compete. Pros Squarespace revolutionized our ability to fundraise. We have multiple events per month that take place off site, either at churches or other venues. The primary goal of these events is to raise funds. We have reached a point where very few people carry cash, and even fewer carry checks. In order to capitalize on the good will we generate at these events and maximize the raised funds, we need to be able to immediately accept donations. Squarespace lets us do that, with a transaction fee that is similar to the standalone card reader we utilize at our office. Cons When we initially began using Squarespace, we encountered some pushback from people who were hesitant to hand their credit card over to us with our phone in hand. However, Squarespace has continually provided updates that address these concerns. Ultimately I ended up upgrading to a dis-batching software later....but for a long time it was enough for our business. Pros I liked that it was very user friendly. It was very simple and had a lot of features. I was able to add my team and it was easy for them to use as well. It's intuitive and easy to use and the templates are vast and allow for decent website creation. Cons Templates don't always provide what's needed and due to all the templates its hard to make your website be unique. The AI builder doesn't really work unless you have a mainstream business. Squarespace makes building a website and maintaining it very convenient. Including handling hosting and and SEO for the website. And all of this can be done without coding experience. The websites too can be very responsive and good too for E-commerce websites. Pros I like that I can actually design a website without the need to do any coding.
