Pros Beautiful layouts, fresh/clean/modern design, easy to use, websites look professional and allow customisation so you can still give the preset layouts your own business look and feel. Cons The business back is quite expensive for small businesses, especially when you add in additional costs such as integrating scheduling software into your website. Client Services Specialist Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Squarespace Efficacy" October 7, 2017 4.0 Pros I was able to use Squarespace to quickly put together a personal website that looked extremely clean and had a bare minimum of complicated set up. I got numerous compliments on the quality of the site despite having no experience with website building or design. Cons Some of the menu options are not as intuitive to find as I might like. The best example is when I needed to add different menu headings on the site (I.e., About Me, FAQ, etc.): it’s located under “Pages,” which does make a degree of sense, but it’s not the most intuitive and I constantly forgot how to get there. Also, to my memory, while the analytics page was good, it didn’t allow you to filter for custom dates, instead being last month, last week, etc. Review Source catherine C. They can not be selected per text box, but they have to be set as part of the style editor. but maybe it prevents the user use a million different fonts, sizes, etc, but I would like to have more options within the style editor. May 13, 2018 5.0 Pros There are three things I love the most about Squarespace. Its ease of use: you can publish you site in just a few clicks. Its flexibility: you can use it for a blog, an e-commerce site, a personal portfolio, a landing page, etc. Its beautiful templates: no need to be a seasoned designer or coder, your site will look amazing and professional from the start. Cons If I had to mention one thing to improve about this product it'd be the configuration of some of the advanced features (e.g. custom web domain, custom JavaScript snippets). Pros Squarespace is great if you have no idea about websites to get one up and running super fast. Their templates look great and are very easy to setup and configure. Cons Given how easy it is to set up, once you want more individualisation you are stuck pretty soon. That is the reason why I switched over two Wordpress after about a year. Also SEO was not that great from my experience, although this could have been me since I was a beginner. Pros I make art on the side and squarespace is a good payment processor for buyers who need to pay by credit/debit card. I usually try to take cash but for those once in awhile transactions that you have to make by card you want swipe capability to not miss sales. It does its job well and doesn't fail much. Cons Cost of course. Payment processors charge a bit these days and if you get a lot of transactions it might be better to look at a competitor, but if it's once in awhile card swipe transaction then Squarespace will work. There's no shortage of high-quality templates, and it's easy to just swap between templates and quickly customize to your liking. Cons There is a lack of customization for folks who are familiar with coding. There are certain elements that can not be edited, and this can lead to not being able to fully execute your vision. Also I do notice some issues in image population on some of my pages on my current template (one of the major photography templates offered on the site). The prebuilt templates and editing features are a great example of this. You can really take what templates they give you and make them your own. Cons I dont find it to be the most intuitive software to use. I feel as though I have to search folders within folders within folders to find exactly what Im looking at. Also, it isnt the cheapest website builder out there, meaning cash strapped businesses will opt for cheaper options despite these being less professional looking. Pros Squarespace provide all the necessary tools "newbies" need to build a website which looks slick and professional . Esy to use and clear instructions on website set up. It also offers a free trial period (14 days - not totally free) and with good marketing spend, it gets quite a lot of TV advertising airplay Cons With the advent of many competitors and wed creation software, its strange the company still requires payment for the build. I appreciate it may charge for hosting the site, but there are now many other companies and means and ways of building website (wix, godaddy, weebly etc) which offers the same things and attimes at much cheaper rates/prices. Upon signing up, you're presented with a whole plethora of templates that fit all sorts of business themes and meta-messages. You can then explore the templates and pretty much overhaul whatever you'd want to; I was able to easily add a live chat feature to mine. Not only that but due to its popularity, there are endless promotions on the internet that you can use to get a first time discount. Cons Squarespace seems to be set up with the assumption that you have some background in web-design because there aren't guidelines on how a site should be set up. The templates have no hard UX/UI reasonings and if you want to overhaul the content then it requires a deeper understanding of content strategy. Still great though. I've worked on 25+ squaresapce sites and it is certainly the best easy-starting platform I've worked with and is almost always my top recommendation Pros Powerful features beyond standard wysiwyg platforms, good seo control, access to CSS and code injection files, well-designed pricing tiers, constant new releases Cons some themes are more restrictive than others, asset management is not good (although a new release is making it much better), i wish there was a "blank page" option for custom landing pages Review Source ST Samantha T. We love that this platform is so easy to use that our on-staff faculty can update our website, which saves an expense of having to hire a website designer. Pros The ease of use. With no website designers on staff, we were worried that we would struggle with creating and updating our website. However, Squarespace is incredibly user friendly and easy to navigate. You do NOT need to know “code” to build and update your website. Cons Honestly, we can’t think of anything we don’t like about the software. We have yet to run into any issues with this software. I'm not very creative, but Squarespace helps me build amazing websites with their template designs. It's also very easy to add your own photography and customize everything to make it truly your own. Cons A lot of the settings, Google Analytics, Facebook, and other targeting tools are very difficult to find within the platform. Squarespace offers customizable templates to help you get started. Not only are the templates professional and easy to customize, the whole editing process is very easy. Also, there are several add-ins with other sites that we use for events (Eventbrite) or to mail out event information (Mailchimp). And for only per month, you can't find a better service that will host your website. Cons The only downside I have experienced so far, is now that we are thinking of changing our template, not all the information from our current site may transfer.
