Pros I just purchased a website hosting and am have been working on a website design for a family member. This product/software has been great to help easily build the website, upload photos and make my layout customized to fit a small businesses needs. Cons It isn't the most user friendly website design product out there, that's for sure. Some of the things are not intuitive, but I really can't complain for the price. Pros How easy it is to make a website. If you want a website that isn't too detailed and isn't so technical and you don't have much experience with making / coding websites, give Squarespace a shot. It's honestly as simple as drag and drop. Cons Limited functionality, but this comes with drag and drop mechanism. Works good enough for simple, everyday websites though. The designs are responsive and work well on mobile devices. Squarespace also integrates selling options for people who are trying to sell services/products on their sites. Statistical analytics are included and are very informative. Your site comes with a SSL certificate, which is great for both security and SEO. Another bonus is that I like seeing Squarespace's creative commercials :) Cons Not as many themes as some of its competitors. There are numerous templates available that are ready for publication. Squarespace provides round-the-clock customer service. Cons Squarespace's pricing is more pricey. There is a general lack of sophisticated marketing tools and third-party programs, plugins, and extensions are not supported. It can be tough to edit and add information at times. Their templates are known to have a poor page speed. However, based on a recommendation, we went with Squarespace and it truly saved us. It is easy to use, integrates well with our other service providers and really helped us piece together an aesthetically pleasing website. Cons I found the pricing for some of the non-stock options to be on the expensive side. Finances weren't a constraint but this was definitely noticed. Their templates will basically walk you through building your site. There is a lot of customization options (and some limitations), but overall a good system to use. Pros I like that it has visual aids when working within the layouts on the pages. I like that you can create a page and "hide" it from the web until you are ready to post it. I like that for someone who doesn't have a lot of experience in managing and updating a website I am able to make a lot of changes myself. Cons As much customization as they do offer, I really wish there was more. I feel that the software is limited in some customization that I want to do and am forced to abandon those changes. Cons I cannot believe that after all these years, squarespace STILL does not let the user type in alt-text for images. Instead, they default alt-text to the name of your image. And lord help you if your image is I987698-3. Pros Squarespace is outrageously easy to use, and ideal for small business who want to skip the feeble web designers (and the good ones that demand proportionate payment) and create something of their own that they can customise and keep up-to-date themselves. The aesthetics of the templates are extremely slick, pricing is fairly competitive, and the optimisation across platforms is excellent. Cons Unlike more complicated solutions such as Wix or WordPress, there is not as much customisability. It is very much a plug-and-play cookie-cutter offering, for better or for worse.
