### "Powerful Websites Fueled with Innovation & Simplicity"

January 28, 2020

5.0

Squarespace is the future. Although there are other flexible options out there, Squarespace brings so much to the table and it only continues to get better. When it comes to ease of use and quickly building solid websites, it can't be beat.

Pros

As both a Wordpress and Squarespace user, Squarespace wins every day for me as a designer. There is much more power to Squarespace than many realize. It not only allows me to build stable and stunning websites for clients, Custom CSS gives me the freedom to extend website visions even further. Not worrying about plugins breaking is huge—there's so much peace of mind here. Squarespace also constantly improves their product with new features.

Cons

Finding a workaround for certain website functions can be time consuming. However, limits breed creativity. For me, the stability and reliability of Squarespace makes it well worth it.

### "Build it and forget it"

September 14, 2021

5.0

My experience has been excellent. I have used it for my own personal wedding website and it was quick and easy and managing the interaction was a real joy. During the pandemic - organizing the RSVP via the internet was the only choice and worked out wonderfully.

Pros

I can quickly build a website without worrying about having to upgrade it later, or what it will look like across different form factors. The templates given handle all the responsive layouts so you can just focus on getting the content in.

Cons

The cost to do anything technical is a little too much. If you want to add custom scripts or code it is challenging. I do not recommend it if doing something outside of a blog or a boutique storefront.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Squarespace

The designs for the website are really clean and work across every form factor device and every OS. I can rely on the designs holding up so I can focus on high quality content.

### "Squarespace"

August 7, 2023

5.0

Pros

Seriously, the BEST application to build a small, personal website! I had no previous experience in website building but wanted to start my own blog. There was an expected learning curve, but Squarespace made it so easy. Not to mention, when I had questions - if I couldn't find the answer in their General Questions tab (which for once was actually helpful - I never get straightforward answers on other websites!), their customer service was easily accessible and helpful! And NICE!!! Love Squarespace and so happy I chose it over other options. Also, it was so great and FUN to be able to have already made but completely customizable templates to work with!

Cons

Honestly, nothing I came across to mention at the moment. The most difficult thing or me was setting up an email list that I eventually figured out.

### "Squarespace is Ok"

April 4, 2024

3.0

Overall it does what we need it to do. I wish is was a little easier to edit.

Pros

The biggest pro is the basic site does what we need and doesn't cost us anything. We sell shirts and tickets to events.

Cons

The editing is not very intuitive. There are several places to upload items and they don't always show up when they are added to the site.

### "Built for amateur and experienced users."

May 17, 2022

4.0

Pros

I have never created a website, or customized one before using Squarespace. Overall, I did find that it was relatively easy to use and to add the content that I desired. Customer service was easy to help guide me with things I couldn't accomplish myself (or figure out how to do).

Cons

Adding personal graphics to certain areas are very restricted.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

Squarespace was recommended to me, and I was happy to follow the recommendation through. I have not need, want or desire to switch software for my website design.

### "Website creation made easy"

January 25, 2022

5.0

Clients have been able to easily find out information about my business and contact me if they are interested in the services I offer. I don't know anything about code or website creation, and Squarespace made it incredibly easy for me to design a website that looks professional.

Pros

The page editor makes it easy to design a website without having to know code. I also was able to use the free images through the Unsplash integration. I also like that my domain and hosting information are in one place. I previously had everything in different places, so this makes things very easy.

Cons

The templates seem to skew heavily toward industries that rely on the aesthetic appeal of their images. I had a hard time finding a template that worked for my translation business (I have no product images to highlight), so I had to do a lot of customizing.

I previously had a web designer design my website, which was hosted on GoDaddy. However, every time I wanted to make a change, I had to contact the designer to help me make changes. I really like that I can edit the website myself.

### "One of the Best Website Builders"

January 11, 2020

5.0

I wish I had known about them sooner otherwise we would've avoided paying an agency to build a custom site. Now we have to pay them every time we want any edits/adjustments made however minute they may be.

Pros

Squarespace delivers a super user-friendly tool that allows nonprofits I work with who don't have much tech experience to quickly build a website. It's easily customizable and their templates are all mobile-responsive. They also have great integrations with tools like Mailchimp for email marketing and Google Analytics. Their support documentation is very clear and comprehensive. I've never had to reach out to their support for anything I couldn't find in their help center.

Cons

They have pre-made templates that look fantastic, but if you're looking for something with drag and drop functionality for complete customization like Wix.com or Weebly, then Squarespace isn't for you. You can usually tell if a website is Squarespace because oftentimes different sites will use the same template. I also think that they could lower their pricing a tad and just offer less features.

Alternatives considered

[Wix](https://www.capterra.com/p/169007/Wix/)[Populr](https://www.capterra.com/p/130472/Populr/)[Weebly](https://www.capterra.com/p/246168/Weebly/)

Reason for choosing Squarespace

I've looked into Wix.com and Weebly. Weebly is pretty basic and not as nice as Squarespace. Wix is more customizable in terms of design, but can be a bit more complex to use and doesn't integrate as well as some tools do with Squarespace.

### "Great platform to start up your idea"

June 12, 2023

It has helped us build a website to represent our non profit mission. There is still many features to explore to enhance our website and customize it.

Pros

The ability to drag and drop objects is fantastic. It is also very easy to edit and update a page if you need to make changes.

Cons

The UI can be a bit clunky and not responsive. It has gotten better since they introduced a new engine.

### "Love Squarespace"

I create most of my client’s sites using Squarespace because it is very easy to use.

Pros

This software is so easy to use and makes creating websites easy and fun. No matter your experience creating websites, you end up with a beautiful and functional finished product.

Cons

If you are a more experienced designer, there is limited functionality for implementing custom applications.

Reason for choosing Squarespace

I enjoy Wix, but mostly I like Squarespace’s templates.

### "Best website building software for beginners, hands down"

February 24, 2022

5.0

Pros

I've worked on a lot of websites and worked with a lot of developers in building websites. When it comes to the 'do it yourself' style website program, this is by far the best on the market. The templates are stylish and clean, it's intuitive, and there's nothing that customer service wasn't able to walk me through if need be. I still have a personal blog on here to this day.

Cons

I remember that there were certain limitations within some of the templates that I was using. That being said, it's affordable, so you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a custom website, you might have to look elsewhere.

### "Easy to learn, easy to master"

March 22, 2022

5.0

Very good website management tool, especially for nonprofits. Have used for ecommerce and it's not the best option, but for general website management and advanced features, it's great.

Pros

Great functionality for beginner web designers and content managers, but plenty of advanced functionality for managers like myself with coding knowledge and access to plugins.

Cons

Can be clunky at times and some features highly requested by the community are not implemented, or implemented much later than hoped.

### "Squarespace has made my life significantly easier with their editor"

March 8, 2018

5.0

SquareSpace has saved me a seemingly infinite amount of time and effort. The editor is perfect and allows you to throw together a website in minutes if needed. If you have more time you can really create a beautiful website with no knowledge of code.

Pros

Ease of use!!! I can repeat this all day when talking about Squarespace. I have used EVERY competitor out there and nothing comes close. The editor is easy to use for anyone, even if you have no experience with code. I'm good with HTML/CSS but still prefer to use their interface. I have to create quick websites all the time and have experimented with every brand, Squarespace wins.

Cons

Templates are great but there aren't enough of them to truly stand out sometimes. You can kind of tweak them to differentiate but they could use some sort of way to really set yourself apart in the way HubSpot templates do.

### "I manage multiple Squarespace sites"

March 22, 2019

4.0

My overall experience with Squarespace has been good. I was using a different template web hosting site years ago. I haven't looked back since switching to Squarespace. It's been 4 or 5 years now (maybe longer??) and the lazy part of me will probably stick with Squarespace for another half decade because if it ain't broke...

Pros

I manage multiple Squarespace sites and for the most part find it easy to use. I love that it links to Mailchimp and my other social media making all the marketing work that I have to do that much easier. I often recommend Squarespace to my clients who have really out of date sites that they have to have a web developer update. They have a plethora of templates and you can create some really nice, well designed sites without too much manual effort (depending on what you're trying to achieve). The customer service is honestly unbeatable. They are super quick with their responses and are typically able to help you trouble shoot an issue or explain why something can't be changed (typically has to do with the parameters of the template).

Cons

The hitch with Squarespace is that you get 90% to where you want your site to be but maybe not 100%. From template to template you lose certain abilities. This could be as simple as having a hamburger navigation in the top right corner or something larger. For what you're paying the value is obviously there, but if you have a really concrete idea of what you want your website to be you may want to invest in something more custom or a Wordpress template that is more customizable because it could be a headache in the long term.

Cons

I feel like the improvement is mission neutral. If there is improvements it would be so unlikely not to catch it rather than catch it when it's too late then you have to write a review so late during the awfulness.

### "A product for both professional and personal use!"

June 6, 2023

5.0

Squarespace made it easy to focus on the information we were providing to our audience rather than having to also worry about how to make the website look inviting, clean, and visually appealing. The price was incredible for the tools you are provided with. Simple, easy to use. So many templates to choose from to suit whatever type of website you need.

Pros

I love the pre-made templates provided by Squarespace, specifically the fact that they are still incredibly customizable. This allows for creativity regardless of the amount of time you have or your experience with web-building. When published, the websites are beautiful. Unlike competitors, you wouldn't know this was an easy to use web design platform. It's clean and professional and makes communication with your audience the focus. They take care of the visuals so you can focus on the important information.

Cons

It was more affordable to purchase our domain name outside of the program. However, integrating the domain into the website was somewhat complicated. If they could remain competitive in pricing with the other domain providers, we would not feel the need to outsource.

### "Squarespace allows you to build and host a website all in one place!"

December 11, 2018

5.0

Squarespace has allowed me to have a creative website presence on the web due to the incredible website templates along with the ease of application.

Pros

Squarespace is amazing. You can build a website and host the site all in one place. The platform is pre-loaded with creative templates to build your website. It is well equipt with insightful tutorials on how to build the site, with step-by-step instructions. The drop and drag format makes it easy to be creative and make the website stand out as your own creation.

Cons

Squarespace is constantly reaching their audience to understand user experience. Therefore, in the earlier versions of Squarespace, there were areas of advancement that would need to happen. However, the company and software have evolved to be the leader in website creation and hosting.

### "The best site designer "

November 27, 2018

5.0

SquareSpace is easy to use, versatile, and customizable. You don't feel nervous passing the reigns on to your client after you've built the site because of its simplicity. Customer service and plan benefits are also fantastic. It is a bit pricier, so I wouldn't recommend it for someone looking for a super simple site such as a 'who am I' or blog site if they're on a budget.

Pros

Squarespace is by far the best site builder I've used. It is so easy and intuitive and it can be customized with some CSS / HTML. I've been much more successful with complex sites on Squarespace than on Wordpress or Wix. The templates are very visuals-friendly. Customer service is also fantastic. I accidentally deleted the wrong site in progress, and they managed to find it and restore it for me.

Cons

I would like some more minimal templates, ironically. There's such a look to "squarespace" templates that tends to favor one-page, highly visual templates. But sometimes if you're a more info-heavy site, that doesn't work out. And yet, this isn't super deterring as when I was creating a site for someone who wanted to be more info-heavy, I managed to edit the template enough to achieve that look. You do have to pay more to edit CSS and such I believe, which is also a bit irksome. Squarespace is also just much more expensive than its competitors, but it's very much a 'get-what-you-pay-for' and you do get something amazing and clean. I also wish the 'shop' function was in the basic plan and not in the more expensive business plan.

### "BEST website builder out there! "

December 23, 2022

My experience has been excellent. As a graphic designer that add on web sites as an extra, Squarespace really makes it easy for me to knock up a simple site that a small business can use quickly. It's absolutely ideal for that and if you're considering using Squarespace, do it.

Pros

How easy it is to use! I think you have to be from another planet to not be able to use the features, it's so quick and simple

Cons

The only con I can think of is that it's still a little bit too expensive, but it's not far off so I can't complain too much.

### "Simple and elegant"

February 8, 2022

4.0

Hands down the best templates out of any of the competing website builders! Sure, they don't have quite as many as some of their competitors, but the selection is stellar. Truly amazing for those who, like me, want a website—and quickly—but don't have the budget to hire a web designer and don't have the time to learn to code.

Pros

I love the polished website that I get for an affordable price—and quickly! Squarespace feels very design-focused (more so than its competitors) and that lets me feel as if whatever I create will be much more polished than what I could put together on my own. I really feel like, with Squarespace, I'm putting my best foot forward to my customers!

Cons

Squarespace does have fewer templates than its competitors, and I do find myself feeling limited at times by the options available. Sometimes it's just not possible to bring my visions for the website to life with Squarespace's available tools.

### "Absolutely the best website building platform for small businesses!"

June 19, 2018

5.0

Choosing Squarespace to build my website for my business is the reason I'm able to continue growing my small establishment. Since I'm able to use the analytics and connect further with Google Analytics & Webmaster Tools, I'm able to properly target my correct audiences and monitor their traffic accordingly. I'm able to test what works best for my company, and quickly modify anything that isn't working. Squarespace is one of the software's that I accredit my success to.

Pros

For the minimal price that you pay, you get an incredible amount of features. There is practically an infinite amount of uses, especially if you have even the most basic understanding of CSS, which you can apply to every template. You can easily connect all of your social media, upload pictures, easily migrate content to new pages and templates, the list goes on. If you get stuck on something, the company has page after page of help guides, and since Squarespace is so popular and has been around for awhile, there is even more information and troubleshooting from actual users. The built in analytics are so easy to understand, and all of the necessary information is right there. You can easily connect API's, email servers, etc right on your account. Using the page builder is so easy. From rearranging content, to fully customizing the text and format-there really isn't anything you can't do with your website with this software.

Cons

My only complaint is what everyone else complains about: the templates! There's almost 100 templates now, so there's plenty to choose from. The main issue is that the templates tend to not have all of the functions you want, and you have to sacrifice certain functions for another. For example: you may need sidebar navigation, but the templates your client likes don't offer that, and you can't cross templates. I understand why you can't have ALL of the features on one template, but some templates with crossed features would be great.

### "Squarespace is beautiful, but lacks some basic functionality"

March 20, 2020

4.0

Functional and beautiful when it works. Very limiting in the area of sales tax.

Pros

Squarespace makes it easy to build a nice website without too much coding know-how. It's very flexible, even for taking orders for customized products.

Cons

Squarespace lacks the basic function of making certain products tax-free. For instance, we don't have sales tax on clothing in MN, but we do on hard goods. If you sell both of these products on your website, your out of luck because the tax setting are tied to location only, not products. This makes selling both retail and wholesale through the same site virtually impossible without some serious workarounds. Myself and many other people have made squarespace aware of this basic issue for more than 3 years, but insofar they haven't come up with any solutions.
