Pros: This system has Easy to add & Change Menu Items, which works awesome for our daily specials. It is VERY user friendly & Easy to train any age group. This system works great for reports, menu items such as what you are or are not selling, payroll, ect. I am so glad we chose this System!!

Cons: Cannot adjust the pricing after the order has been sent back to the Kitchen. I also wish there were some things you could have print in a different color that goes back to the kitchen. Our ribbons are red and black, but the printer only prints black. I also wish, there was a different way to have the orders print to the kitchen, but we are working through some of those issues. The cooks have to remember that they have to learn a different way to read the tickets as well. There are a couple of other things, but actually they are being implemented in the near future.

Overall: The efficiency for the staff, which is HUGE!! We are a Family Restaurant, that worked with Carbon Guest checks. We would take an order at the table and run it back to the kitchen, and then move on to the next table. Now, because we use the IPads to take the order, we can go from table to table to take the order, while we are doing that we can have the coffee pot with us, and on the way back to the wait station, we can be carrying our pot, and cleaning tables, as well. All of this, while the cooks are working on the orders. We were able to get rid of one extra body during the week because of this efficiency. ALSO because of this system, everyone is charged the same, there is no more "guessing" how much the item costs because we are busy and don't have time to look, all of the sauces are getting charged for, and the amount of "forgetting to add it to the bill" charges are low. This system is a win, win. I just cannot say enough about it.

We hear your requests for different colored ink on your tickets and early this summer we have an update coming out that will allow you to print modifiers in red.

Pros: We purchased our Cake system two years ago after looking at many different systems for our diner after making the decision to update our entire process. The Cake system had everything that we wanted. Over the past two years we've had some issues with our system that very easily have been corrected and some that took a little time to fix. We are just too busy for me to spend countless hours trying to work out an issue and receive minimal or no satisfaction. Out of all the customer service companies we have ever done business with over the last 25 years, the best has been Cake. Hands down. No exception. The technicians are beyond wonderful. Every single technician has stayed with me until the issue at hand has been resolved and has worked with me to fully understand. We have just been updated to the newest software version of Cake and while doing my first online audit of employee timecards I found that I didn't understand how to make a certain correction. The guys at Cake walked me through it late on a Sunday evening and I was able to submit my completed, accurate payroll in time. And I LOVE the new remote access update. It's so easy and helps me keep payroll in line. The only thing I can say is thank you so much for realizing the importance of great customer service! Don't change a thing.

Cons: I wish the ipad minis that we use for mobile table service were a little more efficient and didn't drop the Cake network connection so easily. My staff has trouble always understanding how to reconnect or update as needed and I have to jump in and try to fix whatever they've done.

Overall: Too many to list here but software that is easy to understand and follow and make corrections too. It runs our kitchen and food orders as well as serving as an employee time keeping system.

Pros: We switched to CAKE because we were launching a bigger location and with an expanded menu, this was the better option for us. We were previously using Square which didn't have a lot of the functions we needed as a bigger business. It's much easier for employees to work now because CAKE allows them to do clocking in and out in one convenient location, all the menu options can be put in the system which saves their time entering and hunting, and overall it's much more organized. We can also easily change the menu from our laptops on a regular basis because we've been adding a bunch of stuff, and it's much easier from our computers. The reports help us keep records of what sells the best during each season and we can decide then to bring it back or not. A lot of our customers are really impressed as well, it's very easy for them to use and they tell us on a regular basis. It's really user friendly and it all comes down to the ease of use. We just have no complaints, and whenever I need support it's easy to get to.

Cons: The screen will freeze from time to time but it is easily fixed by restarting the machine. I also wish we could find receipts by card holders last name, it would be easier to go back if we need to find a receipt for different purposes.

Overall: Cake saves us time with customers and employee training. It is very user friendly and the support team is very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Conversation Summary/Sample Review:

Before we started with CAKE, everything was done by hand so we had to write stuff down which posed a challenge because now you had to know what went on everything and how much things were to charge for extra. There was also no way for us to track anything, really. Now we can track sales of items in general as well as hourly, and there is even an option to track by 15-minute period, which is even greater. Changing the menu is easy and I don't have to have meetings to tell people about new prices and things, I just give a heads up and then it just shows up on the machine. Customization is super easy, so even if the customer wants something we don't have in there it's super easy to enter. And then my favorite part is that I can have different printers that send information where it needs to go, so I can send the fryer exactly what they need and the grill what they need which has helped us out a lot. Instead of looking at an order with a ton of information that makes it hard to see what needs to be done, each person can see exactly what they need to do for their part and then have it come together with better accuracy.

Cons: It would be great if customers could order online and pay with PayPal. An app for remote access to the system would be amazing.

Pros: Before CAKE we were a small mom and pop shop handwriting tickets with no POS system. Having everything handwritten caused issues for cooks and if we were looking for specific item sales, we had to go through every single hand-written ticket to track that kind of data. What attracted me to CAKE was that it was a rental program, so there was not a lot of out of pocket upfront cost, which is really important for a small restaurant. Having reporting capabilities to see what we're selling and how much has been an invaluable service. I can see our busy hours, how we did last week, all that information is right at my fingertips. I can also change the menu from wherever, even my phone, so I love the fact that no matter where I personally am, I can change prices, add things to the menu, take things off the menu, and check out our sales. Our payroll company can also log in and generate payroll which eliminates the chance of human error and gives them the convenience to do payroll on their time frame. A huge plus is the ability to make changes, additions and deletions on our own without needing someone from Cake to do it. In addition, they are very receptive to our "wish list" and quick with trouble shooting and response to problems. This system truly saves us a lot of time and stress.

Cons: The updates on the system sometimes catch us by surprise and cause a little bit of confusion for the staff. Most of the updates are very helpful, but a times, they will make a change that does not work for us. Perhaps a little more warning on the changes would help.

Pros: Easy to use interface.

Order Pads should allow servers to spend more time on the floor

Inexpensive POS System.

Cons: It doesn't work when we need it to. We've been trying to get the issues resolved via Cake Support and Sysco Management for more than 8 months. It isn't getting any better. As soon as the dining room gets busy the Order Pad Apps crashes. All of our servers need to have paper and pencil ready at all times to complete their orders and stand in line at the terminal to enter them every rush. It seldom happens when we are slow. Orders get lost during entry causing double work to recover the in flight order, after printing in the kitchen causing them not to be charged on the customer's bill, and customer credit cards have been double billed as a result of Order Pad disconnects. We are spending hours with Cake Support that we should be spending working our business. We have to keep 1 person available to capture trouble shooting information for Cake Support during our rushes when (not if) the Order Pads go down. Cake Support is always busy, but will eventually call back. When they do, they aren't very knowledgeable with troubleshooting, they don't seem to be trained to go any deeper than the Cake University screens. The cheap price of the Cake system has become a huge expense in manpower and wasted time in our restaurant.

Overall: I can't think of anything this POS does better than the one we replaced. If it wouldn't crash all the time, we could benefit from not having the servers leave the floor to put orders in and run credit cards, but since they are constantly crashing, we don't have that benefit.

Pros: We were using an older text driven system before that ran on an older OS on XP and we needed something that was Windows-oriented, vendor supported, and took support off of management's hands and handed it over to the people who are actually on the floor doing the work. Frankly the old system also broke a lot, and we needed something more technologically advanced. CAKE has been fantastic. Developing and managing the menu has been surprisingly easy, like the easiest thing I've ever done. Working with the categories and modifiers was just a piece of cake. All of the people working here love it. They came off a system they were already used to, and the conversion was completely painless and extremely fast. When we went from tickets to our old system it was a 6 month nightmare, it just took forever, and I was concerned switching to CAKE would be the same, but it was instant. The system was so intuitive, it's been really nice. It operates exactly how you think it should work, which is probably why staff took to it so readily. The way you can purchase it was also a huge factor for a small independent company like ours, so you can do a small down payment instead of a big cash outlay. It just works for us.

Cons: An ad-hoc reporting capability would be nice. The existing reports are substantial and you can download them into excel, but I would like to be able to create my own.

Pros: Our main problem before CAKE was time. It was taking too much time for servers to get something written on paper and get back to the POS to put everything in. If the internet was down everything was down so we wanted something cloud based so we could continue with transactions even if the internet had problems. CAKE meets all the needs we were looking for. We've got a much faster turnover rate on being able to get orders in and back to kitchen and out to the table, and we can continue taking orders even without internet, which have both helped with revenue. We also like using the guest manager system so when we run out of tables we can get numbers and page when tables open up which was an added benefit. I can also do things on the fly like change the menu even when I'm not on the restaurant, someone just gives me a call and I can add it from my personal laptop and it goes directly to the POS system, which has been really helpful as well.

Cons: Touch screen interaction is not instant. There is a half second lag in some of the menu screens. It may not sound like much, but anyone in the restaurant industry knows that every single second counts during the lunch rush. This lag also includes certain unnecessary animations between certain screens.

Certain features such as an on the fly print button from the table layout screen would decrease our table times.

The Split screen is very counter-productive compared to other systems.

Overall: decreased ticket times, no more pocketed tickets, better overall customer satisfaction.

Pros: Clean, sleek, easy to use, has great written instructions, workers were very friendly when we first had problems last year

Cons: It doesn't work. The system shuts down. It doesn't sync. The declared tips and the credit card tips could function much better. In order to make sure everyone has clocked out is more difficult than it should be.

Overall: We bought this system last year. At first with little business, we had some success, then one of the monitors broke down. They kindly sent out a new one right away. But then as we got busier, the POS system would crash daily. We had five registers and had to turn 2 off all the time. We were told it was our internet. We closed for the season. When we reopened we changed internet providers. It still crashed. We ran new wire. It still crashed. We bought a new modem. It still crashed. We ordered a new cradle point. It crashed again and this past week it has not been syncing which has resulted in problems with payroll. I have emailed. My managers and I have made numerous phone calls. Most of the workers have been nice but now I believe they are avoiding us because they don't know what is wrong. Lately, some of have been rude. They are not helping us figure it out. Meanwhile thousands of dollars has been wasted on this nonfunctioning system. I have tried to be positive about it the whole year as my managers are ready to throw the system out the window. It leads to frustration, loss of money from paying companies and now problems with payroll. It is easy to use when it works. It looks good. But what does that matter when it is a daily problem and I can only use two or three of the registers? I have had three other restaurants ask me about the system in the past two weeks. I had to tell them the truth. Don't buy it.

Recommendations to other buyers: Do not buy it until they resolve problems that are consistent in other reviews. I have been patient for almost a year. Nothing has changed with the service after significant changes in wires, modem, router, and even a new internet provider.

Pros: Look: Unlike many of the Micros and Aloha-type companies out there, the machine looks modern and even futuristic with the customer touch screen. We demo'd with Revel and their multi-screen set up looks out of place and almost alien-like. What is that?

Ease of Use: It has many features that make training a breeze. Training mode, quick search bar for menu items, global modifiers, etc. The screen is organized, and not cluttered with a bazillion different colors like a fireworks display. i always hated that with other systems.

Price: They give you what you NEED, whether it is included with the system or a 3rd party add on. This helps keep the cost down for folks like me who don't need a robust inventory system or scheduling software....if i did need it, I could add that on. They don't include, and charge you for everything, when you may not use everything.

Sysco: How can you not feel comfortable doing business with a POS company owned by this food distribution giant? This was part of why we went with them.

Cons: i must say, the name sounds a bit silly, but does Apple sell Apples?

The Support was a bit shaky for a minute but i was told they just added an additional Support department in Texas. Since then, it has been great!

I would like to see more from their loyalty program. Support told me this is being upgraded and will be included in an upcoming software update!

Overall: The highest grade i will ever give a POS system is a 9/10 because there is always something new and innovative that you will be chasing, no matter which system you have. Therefore there is no '10' system. These guys got the 9. They have a nice system, but what i like best, is that they survey their CURRENT customers to find out what they can do better, then make it better. And they give you choices.....who doesn't like choices?!

Recommendations to other buyers: I saw an earlier review where the guy claimed he was told that the online ordering was free. My advice to this guy is READ YOUR CONTRACT. A POS system is a very complex purchase with many components. How do you sign a contract for a purchase like this, without reading it?

Pros: We had a system before CAKE for several years that we couldnt upgrade, which was our biggest issue. It was becoming slower and slower and features werent very robust, even though it was very expensive. CAKE is very responsive from a customer service perspective, and theyre always very helpful. We feel very comfortable calling when we have issues, which dont often come up, whereas before we incurred service fees every time we needed customer support. The reporting is helpful from a record-keeping and costing perspective and does what we need. CAKE is always adding new features and improving the software aspect of it which is great because theres always something new we can take advantage of to improve our business. We were able to process more customers per hour because of increased efficiency, ease of use, and speed of the system. Its an attractive piece of hardware that fits in seamlessly with the rest of our aesthetic, and because of the customers ability to interact on the other side of the screen, its been a great benefit for our employees as tips went up substantially.

Cons: You have the ability to choose your owner credit card processor, but you have to purchase separate processing hardware. Running cards this way ads a layer of inefficiency to the transaction process, increasing service time.

Pros: I liked the system because it had a customer facing screen. I also didn't want to buy my own POS system so I could get updates from the software holder instead of getting stuck with outdated software. I like how they do send us updates and try to improve the system, constantly trying to make it better. I do everything remotely so there are a lot of new features that help with that too. I can pull reports quarterly and sales reports, look at tips and do all the payroll without a different system. Everything can be forwarded directly to my CPA. Even though there are things to improve on, I do recommend the system and like it a lot. I was very careful to pick the right one for the flow of the business, it feels right and after 2 years using it, it still feels great.

Cons: More frequent updates to remote manage since I usually work off site. Already does a good job, but lets keep the updates coming. I want to able to edit employee incorrect login times since I am always getting a text from an employee to help them fix it and be able to make discount changes remotely as well.

Overall: Remote reports I can download or pdf a copy. Menu changes that is remote along with daily emails on sales summary. Easy to setup menu also.

Pros: Global modifiers. That's literally the only thing I like about it. If it wasn't for that, we would have gotten rid of this system a long time ago.

Cons: This system is completely not customizable to your specific business. They're constantly updating the software with updates that make the system even worse for my business. There should be an option to not upgrade. Customer service is absolutely useless. I've called them probably 50 times since we've gotten this system. They never have an answer, they're always "working on it". Never a solution. There was a software problem on their end last Wednesday. I still have not had credit card sales deposited into my bank account from Wednesday and Thursday of last week. It's 5:30 on Monday. I have not had a deposit since Tuesday's sales. One entire week ago. They don't provide any solutions except "We're trying to figure out what the problem is. We're working on it.", but you literally never end up with an answer. You just have to wait and wait until you notice it's finally resolved or never get it resolved at all. You're at their mercy because you paid huge for the thing. What am I gonna do? It's disgusting and these people shouldn't be allowed to operate. They do not care. Even on a normal payment schedule, you won't get Thursday's transactions until Monday, Friday until Tuesday and Saturday until Wednesday. If there's a holiday, push that back a day.

Pros: We've had 2 POS systems before we tried CAKE. The very first one we had was already 5 years old so it was running really slow and just couldn't handle what we needed it to do. We upgraded that one to Clover and we had high hopes but it just really didn't work out for us. We had batching issues, the numbers weren't matching, and honestly it ended up making more work for us with bookkeeping. Since we switched, closing and reporting have been so much easier. Everything is a lot easier to keep track of like sales and payroll and it's so much nicer because you can see all that online. It's also easier to add new menu items or move things around and just easier to use in general, especially once we got everything up and running. It's a simple set up and I'd definitely recommend just giving it a try.

Cons: No Big cons really. One minor con, is that we wish we could accept partial payment on our regular customers running tabs. It would make it so much easier.

Overall: Ease of use and so much easier trying new staff members.

Pros: We were iPad based with our old system which made us slaves to wifi and it went out all the time. There were daily complaints and we had too much revenue for that kind of system so it just didn't work out for us. A POS should just work and CAKE works. It's been about two years since we'e switched and there are never any complaints from the staff anymore. As an owner, I'm a report guy. The backend reports are self-explanatory and extremely comprehensive. It makes it easy to check out what's being given out in discounts and comps, online orders, sales by category, sales by employee, sales by quarter hour, sales vs labor costs, pretty much anything you'd want to know. It makes tax and bookkeeping easier, which is very important to me. The whole system is easy to use, the interface is simple, and as soon as I can I'm going to switch my other bar to CAKE too.

Cons: I don't like the fact that it only reports cash closed on the back end instead of what is actually opened. So I don't get the true sales we are making until the very end of the night.

Pros: We have seen an increase in profits, customer service and the reporting ability has helped to make our business better. Both in the front and back of the house. We had been operating on old-fashioned handwritten tickets, implementing this system has benefited us in so many ways. I love the ability to be able to log on from home and see the sales at any given time. In addition, I have been so pleased with the quality of personal customer service I have received from the lead sales manager. He has helped with the initial start up, set up and functionality of the system has provided attention to detail and any hiccups that have ever arisen he has all problems solved quickly and efficiently. I, as well as the staff, find the system pretty intuitive. We have decided to implement online ordering now, and I hope to see an increase in sales. Overall, I am pleased with Cake.

Cons: I am not thrilled with the credit card processing company that we must use, I would prefer to someone else.

Pros: When we switched from our old POS to CAKE, we were looking for something faster and easier which is exactly what we got. Our old system had a server and all the data made it super slow. We like having the ipads that take orders faster right at the table. It's a lot easier to update the menu or make changes and I can actually change it from my computer so I don't even have to be in the restaurant. I can do it from home the night before and it'll be ready the next day. I also look at sales reports and employee hours from home a lot too. There's not a lot of user error, and it makes things in general a lot smoother.

Cons: the connection with iPad has to refresh often , that means the waitress has to check iPad before going to tables i am not sure is because the system or our connection is very poor.

Pros: Easy to use for the most part. Screens easy to read.

Cons: Check Splitting is very difficult and involves many steps. Daily Management Reports are not user friendly.

Senior Management Customer Support is horrible. They call them "Customer Success Managers" which is clearly the wrong title. They are horrible at communicating among all customer support. Guest checks are very difficult to read along with credit card slips for the customers. Fonts are very small. Cash drawers are cheap. They do not offer any loyalty programs through their system and only punch card type of discounts. Very old technology.

Overall: Very poor in general. They say they are all about customer service and this could not be further from the truth especially with upper levels of management. The engineering and customer service communications is horrible.

I do think the software is good for the money, but, they are very slow in doing any upgrades if they do them at all. Dont bother putting in upgrade requests as they fall on deaf ears and if you inquire about them, they will have no response or answer.

Pros: The CAKE system is a lot more convenient than using a little old-fashioned register. It's a very helpful system. Keeping up with orders is way more convenient and we love being able to have a count of what you're selling at the end of the day. We can see what's being sold and what's being given away and at the end of the day, you can really see a breakdown of the profit. Any other system can't really do that. It's definitely helped us see what things are popular and what's not great sellers so we can give our customers more of what they want, and it makes it easier to see what staff is not selling and giving away for free. It's just a very convenient, helpful register and I've seen other businesses using it and there are so many different settings in the program for bigger facilities. If someone doesn't have this program, they don't know what they're missing. It just makes everything so much easier, and I've dealt with plenty of registers before. This is as simple as it gets. I'd recommend it to anyone

Overall: It helps a lot by keeping track of your sales.

Pros: CAKE was our first POS for this location. As far as changing menu items or modifiers or printers it's super easy, hands down way easier than any other program I've used. It's also very easy from a user standpoint for staff members to ring things in and find items. Because it's not overly complicated and just very straightforward it was super easy to get the restaurant up and running when we started out. I use the sales reports and also the time and attendance reports for payroll. It's very convenient to have it as well as remote access. We're also able to see if people delete things prior to payment or after being sent to the kitchen to be made, so we were actually able to catch an employee stealing with that information. Overall I think it's great. If you're thinking about trying it I say go for it. The fees are reasonable, it's nice to have credit card processing straight through it, and when we batch out at the end of the month, we can log in and see easily what the fees were and what we received. I'm very happy with it and would definitely recommend it.

Cons: I honestly do not have anything negative to say. However, adding a stylus to the signature pad would be helpful for guests less savvy with tablets.

Pros: We used to run our restaurant old school with just tickets. We find that the computer system lets you have more readable tickets for the chefs and descriptive tickets with tabs for putting in how you want things without the servers having to write everything, so it saves them a lot of time and it's faster and neater. We use it also to take inventory, and we can see exactly how much we sold each day, which is easier for us. We can also see most popular items and if something's not selling we can try something different with our changing specials. The workers use it to clock in on our computers and it's really easy to get that to our accountant. Another thing CAKE did for us that no one else really offers is when we initially put our menu up, CAKE did all the work. They set up all the tabs and modifiers and it was super easy for us which was great.

Cons: Customer Support is not too helpful. They could work on that aspect. They are only helpful to a certain extent.

Overall: Faster service, order is clearly read by the servers and chefs.

Pros: We're coming up on our one-year anniversary with CAKE and I can't think of a single bad thing to say about it. Before CAKE, all of our systems were really hard to upgrade or make any changes. With CAKE, I can do it from home, review reports, and it's so easy for the servers and chefs as well as our customers to read and use. The set up was so easy, we've hardly had any problems, and unlike other places where we've had to make tons of calls and emails without even hearing back from anyone, the CAKE team gets us back up and running immediately, they have never missed a phone call, and they walked me through step by step in a way that was easy to understand. We looked at two other products before choosing this one and have absolutely no regrets. I feel really tied into the core of the restaurant, and they have a lot to do with it. Thanks for making my restaurant run better!

Cons: We had some trouble with splitting tickets. After help from CAKE and their customer service department we implemented additional training in house and the problem has been solved.

Overall: Easy to use, fast and reliable.

Cons: When doing monthly bookkeeping you cannot export a sales report broken down for each day, only one day or a selection of days lumped together into one sales totals, so I have to copy each days sales individually into my bookkeeping software, seems like it would be an easy fix for them but no one has listened to my suggestion to make the change.

Overall: Switching to CAKE has made a huge difference for our restaurant. Now that we have offline options, we've saved a lot of money being able to accept credit cards and not having to refuse people without cash. The lower percentage on CAKE payment processing probably saves us thousands a month just in credit card payments alone. Not being able to track labor costs to sales previously created unexpected labor costs for monthly bookkeeping and other systems were just not very dynamic. The credit card swipers never break, which is another problem we had before. The employee tracking has also been really useful and the time audit report has really helped us find payroll fraud. We're definitely seeing a great return on our investment and would recommend it to others.

Pros: CAKE is our first POS system and it has made a huge difference from pen and paper. Orders are less complicated and we have easy access to all the information we need for both the restaurant and catering sides of our business (receipts, signatures, credit cards, customer info.) Adjustments to the menu take seconds and there's no paper to lose. Online ordering has increased a lot, orders are going out faster, and of course in restaurant operations efficiency is key. On top of that, we have great reports so we don't have to do math for trends, and it's so easy to learn for new staff. We're really happy overall and would definitely recommend it!

Cons: When the system updates, it will revert back original settings after updates. Some options aren't customizable.

Pros: I like being able to contact technical support or customer service 24/7 and getting a LIVE person right away and I like being able to turn my POS system over to the tech so that they can figure out what my problem is instead of them trying to explain to me how I can fix the problem. It's also nice to be able to see my reports online so that I can keep up with my business while I'm away from my restaurant on a trip. POS systems are expensive and their lease-to-own program allowed us to get a top quality POS system so that we could concentrate our money on buying supplies for the restaurant when we first opened.

Cons: The only complaint that I have about this system is that there are limited options when setting up new employees privileges. I would like to set different privileges for each individual employee instead of the current options of "exempt" or "non-exempt". Sometimes I need to give someone additional privileges but not complete run of the whole system.

When we opened our restaurant, we were worried about inventory control. Our sandwiches are all about choice which means a lot of different modifiers. CAKE has made keeping up with those modifiers and inventory a lot easier. We check every week to see what's selling, so we can manage what we need to have. We were doing a festival this year and thanks to this system, I was able to go in and check last year's numbers so we knew exactly what to stock this year. I've also used the information from the reports to do our taxes. I especially like that I can change anything from my laptop at home, so if I wake up at 2 AM and forgot something I can do it right away instead of waiting until I'm back in the restaurant. There aren't really many problems but every time I have one I just call and it's usually fixed.

Overall: Piece of mind. It made things easier so I was able to relax about the POS system and focus on other things.

Pros: I love how easy it is to customize everything to the way you need it, it's very easy to train new employees. Makes taking orders faster and if we ever have issues the customer service is great and they fix any issues fast.

Cons: There are certain things I would like to be able to customize, I know recently they changed you can't change an order after it's been printed and with having call in orders people sometimes come back and change things and we can't go back and edit it.

Overall: Keeping tracks of what we sell and don't sell and taking inventory. The time clock that it has for employees as we didn't have a system and this is way more accurate than the way we were using. Everything is being paid code that gets put in as there would be missed expenses when we were using a cash register. Saves on paper as they can sign on the screen. The close cash gets sent to my email so if I'm not there I can get them at home.

Pros: The product is a Huge timesaver for myself and for my staff. We were with Abacus prior to this and it was a nightmare. With Cake everything is right at your finger tips. It has taken so much time off of our daily reporting and closing procedures. Also, Unlike the prior company we were using. There is no longer a wait period for entering new items into the system or updating pricing. So convient!!! We have been using the system now for over 2 years and have been completely happy with the system and the customer service as well.

Cons: There is not much that I dislike about this product. There have been small issues that were immediately taken care of and resolved as quickly as possible. It is a start up company. so there are always going to be some growing pains.

Overall: Ease of use. Cut down on time for closing procedures. Immediately goes live with new product or pricing.

Pros: We've had CAKE at this restaurant since day one. It's super user friendly and so far very low-maintenance. I love that it's cloud based, so there's no worrying about computers going down or something not booting correctly. The system has the complexity built in but it's also still easy to use. We use sales and labor reports to track item sales, which helps with inventory because it gives a direct shot of what we're using instead of guessing what to reorder or what we might need. It's easy to update the menu, and a lot of it you can even do from your phone. It just makes the job easier and there are so many things that I don't have to worry about. I don't take it for granted because I know better having worked in other systems in the past but if the average user knew the alternative to not having it they'd see how much harder it would be having to do everything by hand. It's a huge difference.

Comments: Customer Service staff is friendly, but, they do not follow up, they like to debate, management is horrible - Again full of promises - No follow up - Please look elsewhere for your POS needs.

Pros: Easy to add or remove items from the server screens. large screens, large buttons to use to enter items.

Cons: There are numerous: Time reporting is horrible, they put out new versions and take away others that we used. They promise they will fix things and they do not. Customer support is horrible as they rarely call you back or follow up. Do not ever give them your credit card number as they will use it without warning and take money out of your account. Touch screens rarely work correctly. Many options that should be available are not, such as easy check splitting or putting checks back together, they have a horrible guest loyalty. Servers cannot see just their tips, gift cards are very difficult to track, font size for the customer is hard to read, cash drawers are something you could buy from a toy store with better quality and the list goes on.

Pros: Overall Cake works well for our business. It is easily modified by management and owners. Easily modify menu in a timely manner.

Cons: We offer delivery, takeout, and dine in. It would great if the kitchen ticket would be bold for delivery. Also wish that the kitchen printer would print all modifiers in red to eliminate kitchen mistakes. During rushes the kitchen staff could glance at the prep ticket rather than having to read the entire ticket again. Another issue is when creating side items for example, baked potatoes, you have to create a baked potato plain, baked potato with butter, a baked potato with butter and sour cream, etc. therefore cluttering up the screen.

Pros: Our old system was constantly down. Their servers were in Vegas so if anything happened there or here we couldn't use it. There is no comparison with the pure ease of using CAKE. We love the detailed reports we can customize to see anything and everything I'd like to see, and they're quick and easy to run every night. It definitely saves us time, and it saves the team time in putting in orders and info. Another issue we had before was the old system constantly losing tickets during the process, and we haven't lost a single one since we switched. We also like that it looks presentable and not like a clunky computer.

Cons: Occasional issues with the time it takes to run a gift card. Not currently able to accept Chip cards and the online order system is a little dated.

Pros: We were using a cash register before and I had looked at a number of different computerized options. When they brought this to me, it really looked like a great solution for us and has proven to be just that. Paperwork is much easier. Before it was all manual. I'd get the daily paperwork and have to enter it to have any idea of what we were doing so I'd have to spend a lot of time on that. It's basically 10% of the time it used to take which has freed me up tremendously to do more important things. In terms of keeping track of finances and hourly wages it has been a big improvement. I have two locations and now I'm able to keep track of both whether I'm there or not. On my day off I can keep track of what's going on remotely, which I definitely do check on many times every day. We don't have any big problems at all, and I just really love the system.

Pros: We used to run everything out of a couple of regular registers. Now everything is tied together. No more guest checks running back and forth to the kitchen. It was a challenge at first, but the you get used to the system the better it is. We like the simplified reports. It's a lot easier to track sales within categories so we have a good idea of what's selling and what's not. Restaurants are always trying to get something that'll sell a little better. This makes it easier to figure out what you made at the end of the day, which helps us run the business better.

Cons: I wish they had way to set up an automatic happy hour for the bar. It would be nice if it could be programed for say from 2-6 fifty cents of on all alcoholic drinks.

Overall: Better tracking of drinks and food.

Pros: The menu is easy to edit, training new employees takes much less time than our previous system, no major problems.

Cons: A complete menu change or even price change can be very time consuming. The customer interface can be difficult for some clients to use. If they press the screen and it doesn't register, they'll press harder to no avail. The customer screen seems to like a light touch best.

Overall: The chief benefit for us was the reduced time in training new employees. Previously, employees had to learn a "short hand" to take orders or make orders, it took quite some time and some never fully became fluent. Interaction with the customer has become more clear, less mistaken orders, etc. Overall, we are happy with this product and would purchase again.

Pros: Everything! This POS is user friends for all levels of employees from servers to managers. It is very intuitive and allows for easy corrections to common errors. The training mode is wonderful for new employees, and the visual seating map is a life saver. As a manager, the selection of Reports is phenomenal. I am able to compare sales, cost and labor day to day, month to month or year to year. Conducting monthly payroll is very easy due to the Time Clock reports that include Breaks, Meals and Individual Tips. Although this CAKE is simple in some ways, it is comprehensive in others. I know that we still have a long way to go before we truly understand the scope of this products versatility and usefulness, but we are always coming across new applications for this POS everyday.

Cons: So far the Cons are very limited. In some areas it is very specific and if an items is not set up properly, it can effect our efficiency in getting out proper products or printer accurate receipts. So far that is the only thing we have had to be very aware of.

Overall: Accurate business analysis and efficiency for serving staff.

Pros: We chose CAKE because it was affordable and very user-friendly and highly recommended by our Sysco Agent. We are a small coffee Shop and our staff has been quick to learn how to use it they seem to have an easy time. We are using it for our time sheets, it's good for basic reporting, We are not using the tablet yet but I know another place that uses it and they seem to be happy with it. For the price point I think CAKE is a good system to have.

Cons: Would like that the system had a way to customize reports (Like the fonts or the way they appear) but overall good for the price. When setting up menu items the features sometimes take a long time to set up. We have been happy with cake. Now finally we are able to manage time sheets from anywhere.

Pros: Value, Exelent Customer Service, Modern looking. We never had a problem with the system, and any time we had a question customer service was readelly available.

Overall: We needed a POS system that also helped us with the whole restaurant operation. As an owner, it helped me a lot in tracking food costs and scheduling employees. I can print graphs and see when we're busier and what resources we need more. It has helped us a lot with allocating resources better and making everything faster. Customers really like the modern look of the POS and using it which has been an unexpected bonus. Another thing we like is that it seems to be very intuitive, it's really easy to figure it out. The rates are good and the customer service is easy to reach and quick to give us solutions to the very few problems we have had.

Pros: 24/7 customer service is the best option enabling us to call and receive customer support at any time. We have contacted support line many times and the longest we have waited, so far, has bee 3 minutes. We have not used any other software in the past to compare it with, but it has been useful and reliable so far.

Cons: Though customer service is available 24 / 7 and they are courteous, the software seems to be limited and their process does not allow their engineers to add some of the required features necessary/important to the individual businesses. They require multiple business requests before they look into adding some features.

Overall: The overall experience has been good so far. 85% of the time the customer service has been able to resolve our issues right away with few occasions when they needed more time to consult their technical team asking their engineers to review the issue to get back to us.

Pros: The POS register is easy to use my husband is not in the 21st century when is comes to technology, he is the only person that runs the register and inputs orders.

Cons: Nothing I can think of right now, there are a couple little features I would like but they are more for convenience for my restaurant.

Overall: Cake has made starting my small restaurant of 1 employee, my husband and myself easy to maintain. We do not have to worry about reading handwriting, lost tickets, and so many other things that can go wrong with human errors.

The main reason I chose the Cake system is because of the built in online ordering system. I do not have to pay a 3rd party for this feature, it has been flawless and a very important part of our business.

The record keeping and report system saves so much time, the system sends reports to my accountant daily and monthly I just set it up and forget it.

Time sheets, sales tax reports, so much more I could write a book. Overall the Cake system has been wonderful for us we just hit our one year make of opening this restaurant and we keep growing.

Pros: The specific tipping point for me was our old POS system, when the internet went out, it just completely froze up. When I found out that CAKE has an offline mode so we can keep going even without internet and can keep running smoothly once the internet comes back on, that was the perfect thing for me. It's sleeker, looks modern, and everybody always thinks it's an Apple product because it looks so fancy. We use it for everything except inventory. I like that I can track all my different locations via my phone or laptop, so that makes it easier for me to stay on top of everything. It's really user friendly and easy to modify to your business.

Pros: We switched to CAKE because it does cheaper credit card processing, and on top of that it's a lot better as a system to calculate our numbers, and we can even use it to keep track of inventory. I like how they constantly do maintenance and updates, which keeps things running smoothly and up to date. I also like how it sends close out reports via email which we can access remotely from anywhere.

Cons: Their could be a better tax exempt button. For our customers that have an tax exempt card. You can still turn the tax of very simply. But it could be helpful. I have spoken with them about this and they are currently working on it. Thanks cake.

Overall: Their is so many benefits to switching to cake. It save your cc processing money the system is smooth and easy to use. Keeps payroll and invintory for you. Makes my job as a manager much easier to run a restaurant.

Pros: Ease of use for staff and for us to program.Always works never seems to go down. They do try to add options when requested if it's possible .love that you can process credit cards when internet is down as it saves info for later.Also can view info from phone or computer when away from my restaurant.

Cons: Reports currently only go back 100 days but they are working to change that.The Time clock dosnt export to quick books would help as we do our own payroll

Pros: We truly enjoy how easy to use this system is. With it being touch screen and having categories within each product, the system is easy to understand and easy to use. The system also does a wonderful job of being able to give us statistics on which of our products are the most popular. It keeps track of payroll and clocking in and out. It also it easy to navigate around in. Another thing we love is the customer service provided. Whenever we have issues or questions, customer service is always there to help out.

Cons: When we are super busy, sometimes it's hard for us because we only have one system. We are working on getting a tablet to see if it provides a solution to our conflict. When we have a customer at the drive through and one inside, it's difficult to take care of both at the same time. When we are getting slammed during lunch, it provides a small roadblock to the flow of things.

Pros: Being able to set system up so it saves having to special instruct different things on our menu. Being able to make changes off-site when something needs to get changed. The ease of entering new employees, deleting employees, doing payroll and seeing who is working at any time.

Cons: Felt kind of lost at first when starting out without a person on site to answer questions. Getting the system wired was a little scary. We had a pos system before so wiring was done and helped us a lot. Would not have wanted to attempt that on my own. Felt overwhelmed at first with entering all the information and getting things set up the right way.

Pros: data rich resource for the store manager and owner - I use the software daily for quick reports and price changes to positively impact our profitability

Cons: The software does not accommodate Apple-pay which is frequently a disappointment to our customers here in Silicon Valley. occasional interruptions in service seems to happen on busy weekends are costly and affect customer service

Pros: Being able to make changes when ever I need to and the extra summaries that I can see what has been sold. See if a product we have is not worth having. I can leave notes for my workers. I like that I can look up what is going on from home also!

Cons: The only thing we do not use our POS system for is clock in times. So it did an automatic update and has us sign in. Besides that we have had no issues with the system!

Pros: Easy to use and cost effective. I like the flexibility that I can pull up data on my home computer. I can get detailed sales reports by item. I really enjoy the fact that the employees can clock in and clock out on the pos system and it tracks their hours which makes payroll easy. I also like that the employees can enter their tips also making the payroll process work well.

Cons: Would like to get historical reports in sequence and not have to break up. there is currently a past 90 days limit.

Overall: Benefits of good reporting for sales information as well as employee payroll requirements. Also easy to implement and review product pricing.

Pros: The simplicity of it. It fits our menu well. It is easy for our servers to place orders to the kitchen. The tickets in the kitchen are easy to read.

Cons: sometimes the editing or menu management is difficult to figure out. I always feel bad when I don't actually have a software problem and have to call support. I do wish that the tickets in the back could print in red and black so that our carry out orders would be easier to disinghish.

Overall: It's easy to use. the CAKE staff is always updating and changing the software to make things easier.

Pros: I love the basic layout that makes it so simple to find different categories. It's very easy to learn, I picked it up in a day and haven't had any other issues with it. I like how easy it is to update in 5 minutes every morning, especially with our restaurant having changing specials every day. Closing out our cash every day is really easy, as well as changing employees time and taking different payments. This system just makes sense and each ticket has a way easier process, with 1 or 2 steps instead of 4 or 5

Cons: The only issue I have ever had was with our buttons on the screen being a little touchy but that has cleared up perfectly with a reset and a CAKE update.

Overall: CAKE is by far the easiest POS system I've used personally and I've worked with many.

Pros: I would say that the best thing about CAKE is that we have the ability to edit our POS system, pricing, item names, you name it from in house. No third party's to have to call and wait for a button to be added and then days to update in the system.

Cons: I do wish that I had more ability with the online ordering where I could edit an order when it comes to the POS. Sometimes customers request things and the proper up charges arent added.

Overall: By having CAKE we are able to use 7shifts for a discounted price. It is a gamechanger when coming to employee scheduling. It has saved me at least 2 hours per week when making my schedule.

Cons: When pulling the data into excel, it is not easily formatted to create my own charts/graphs. If I sort a report, say by most sold item, it does not stay sorted when pulling into a PDF and printing.

I would like to be able to generate the number of guests with a time frame and the average ticket price. Need a better way to see the comp/discounts remarks so I know which items are having to be comped most frequently; when I pull up item sales Cake pulls everything into excel even when I am only looking at wines. Pros: It is very user friendly. It flows well and is fast and effective. It keeps payment information backed up even when the internet is down.

Cons: Our experience with CAKE has been mixed. The software is constantly being fixed and updated which is great, but there are redundant and unnecessary features that should be removed. The support was horrible for the first year and a half, the second year and a half has been much better.

We will include Apple/android/samsung pay in a future hardware release. We're currently testing our "Payment Cube" hardware on our legacy POS hardware, which would give operators the ability to use both Apple Pay and EMV capabilities.

Pros: Customer service is great and it's pretty simple to use. Everyone I have talked to has been very helpful with the things we needed help with. My only issue is not being able to change sent items. That is really a pain for us. It wasn't like that when I purchased the system. That was a negative update.

Cons: The fact once something has been sent you as an owner can't edit it. Drinks are the main problem with this. So say.... Servers put in a drink but forget to hit olives. To put olives in is .25. So instead of just going in and adding them you have to void the whole drink and enter it in all over with olives. It takes more time. The owner should be able to change sent items.

Pros: I like the cloud based access. Allowing access from anywhere I have phone or internet connection. I can make new menu items, edits, and run payroll from anywhere.

Cons: Not being able to run reports for a time frame longer than 90 days. This comes in handy when reporting to insurance or end of year reporting. Also, wished it would color the prep tickets so that certain items would be colored to indicate the servers have charged for them and the kitchen is aware.

Overall: Purchased this unit from a sneaky salesman. Claiming this pos was top of the line. Can do it all. Well I fell for it hook line and sinker turns out this pos is garbage and the way they do business is the same. They never even was able to get my menu build up and going. Then wanted to claim my menu was to big. Could not do half and half pizzas. For a kitchen this is a must. And there system struggles at it. I was told I would need to change my prices to all toppings the same price for it to work. Gave up on them one month later told them I wanted to return the system they said ok no problem and sent me shipping labels so I sent back system. Waited two weeks and never heard back from them so decided to call and ask about my refund. They said I could not have one because I was outside of there 10 day return period. Which makes no sense considering they sent me return labels and gladly took my system back. Now needless to say they have both my 7000$ purchase but also the pos I sent back to them that they refuse to return.

Every pos company out there is better than these thieves keep looking around I'm not the only one they stole from.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try two touch or someone respectable

Pros: We were first time restaurant buyers, so we did a lot of shopping for POS systems. We sat through the CAKE presentation and especially liked how there was support, since a lot of systems don't have an actual support system. The reports are also really good for tracking sales, so we use it quite a bit to see what the sales are on each product and see if it makes sense to keep it in the restaurant or adjust the way I'm selling something that's selling well to increase profit. I'm on it constantly, and me and my partner both have other jobs, so we use remote access to the system a lot. Overall we just have no issues with CAKE.

Pros: The software was easy to understand and to program. We were able to pin point any issues we had, such as over rings, payouts, wrong ring ins, etc.. We had saved enough money being able to fix those mistake but using Cake, that it basically paid for itself. We found using the Cake POS saved us time and money, that we bought a 2nd Cake POS, that we were able to transition it to use it in our hotel and golf course we own. I would recommend the Cake POS to anyone!!

Pros: I love the depth I can get out of the reporting aspects of the software. The customer service has been stellar from hardware issues, software questions, and even helping my assistant managers when I was not able to be on site. My staff was able to use the software on day 1, thanks to its ease of use and the loads of training material available online.

Cons: The software does have some customization and feature limits. We have an old building and our line is in several places, so I was not able to get as detailed as I would have liked with certain menu items, printer controls, and sending features. However, the customer support team was able to help me come up with solutions that were not optimal, but served the purpose.

Overall: We saved a immense amount of time and energy on the reporting side of the software. Because the system is cloud based, it benefits our organization by allowing owners and managers to view and interact with the software in remote settings, and get real time daily numbers.

Cons: The one thing that would make this system perfect is if the printers could buzz or ring when a ticket prints. This feature is only needed on the kitchen printer so it should be something that can be turned on or off as needed.

Pros: Easy of use, straightforward and easy to adjust things on the fly without messing up everything else in the system. Customer screen is fantastic since you don't have to flip the screen back and forth. Guests don't feel pressured to tip since all happens on their side. Reports are great and very neat.

Cons: We don't have anything that we don't like about it but if this system could integrate 3rd party vendors such as UberEats, Postmates etc then it would be tremendous.

Pros: User friendly, 24/7 support, updates that make our business run smoothly. We also love the online ordering option, it was helped us increase business for customers who are on the go.

Cons: We really havent had any real big issues with the software as of yet. I do wish there were certain options like phone orders but other than that we love it.

Pros: I really liked how fast they can get into the system within seconds to check or address simple issues.

Cons: I do have an issue with paying out vendors in cash where the system doesn't have categories to track that, which I am hoping they might resolve but has not been yet in spite of my efforts.

Thank you Ronnie for your honest feedback. We make it simple and quick to access and utilize the full functionality of our POS anytime and anywhere. While we don't offer the tracking feature you want yet, it will be eventually developed. In the meantime, your accounting software can be used to track payments externally.

Pros: Great control over sales value and Items sold reports. Easy to revise/change menu and prices. 3rd party software ShoGo uploads daily sales to Quickbooks Online daily.

Cons: Scheduling and time clock functions are weak. We can't use them. Should be able to clock in and out from a ipad/tablet separate from order pad/register.

Pros: It is so easy to use for both staff & administration. I love that I can edit from the POS or my laptop & cell

Cons: The only thing that has been difficult is when updates are made it can be hard to get used to the changes & the new permissions

Overall: It matches our menus perfectly since we used my menu lab

Pros: easy to navigate, wish it had a few more features tho. I would recommend this system. clocking in and out, but could use better closing

Cons: staff signing out with open tabs, hate that... printers are ok . its getting better but needs fine toning.

Pros: We switched from another POS system to cake and the difference is unreal. I saved enough money through processing alone in the first year to pay for the entire system.

The ease of use and customer service are top notch. Each time I have a problem come up, the CAKE operators have been more than helpful and program it specific to my needs

Cons: Somethings like combining tables and changing to togo orders are still under works

Overall: overall, CAKE has been a huge asset to my business and I would switch to them again in a heartbeat

Pros: Its made for restaurants and has a diverse application for what I need to make my business efficient.

Cons: There is more applications I can use and my time is limited for implementing them. I would like to have online support to go through these applications.

Overall: The Cake POS system is showing me in detail the sales of each item in an easy format. I am very impressed on having this as an owner.

Cons: I really can't think of any cons at this very moment it use to be time sheets but there was an upgrade that fixed that so now I love that!!

Pros: Great amount of flexibility, the best product we have seen or tried, we have looked at and had demos of others and this fit our operation the best.

Cons: some delay in correcting some issues attempts were made and some temporary fixes were made but we had to wait for the next update.

Pros: I like the remote access feature. The software is user friendly. I like how we can control what access the employees can have.

Cons: I don't like how owners have to clock in to use system to be able to use it. Also, I don't like how we can't close cash remotely. It has to be done at the physical location only.

Pros: Low up front costs. Easy to use and program. Support team is very responsive. If you call and ask for a certain report or configuration they will either help you get it or file a change notice to update the software at the next upgrade if possible.

Cons: A little pricey each month. Only one option for credit card processing. reports are not available on the pos system. Only on the back office system.

Overall: Easy to use and train staff. Good inventory control for ordering etc. Good cash control and great reliability.

Pros: We were a start up needing a POS What I like about CAKE is we don't have to have or maintain a server here since it's all online and internet based. The reps we dealt with were really great at helping us get it all set up, and it's been wonderful customer service from day one. It's just been really great. I like the design and ease of use for it, and it's just so much easier to use than other systems I've used in the past

Cons: Sometimes I have difficulty finding information I need in the reports. I may have to go through several menu options to find what I'm looking for. This generally relates to sales categories.

Pros: It's far and away the most user-friendly software I've ever used. It's easy to operate both from the terminals and back end. Adding and removing items is very easy. Hiding/deleting and modifying items is no problem.

Cons: I wish reports could go further back. I'd like to be able to get an entire year worth of data at once.

Pros: Ease of use and loading new products. Easily tracks employee clock in clock out as well as breaks. Helps me do payroll much faster pulling it up on reports rather than manually calculating punch cards

Cons: Comps and Gift Cards should be a manager required selection as we have had several employee issues that I have addressed with Cake already and nothing done yet.

Pros: The kitchen printer relieved stress for our cooks. It was easy to keep a tab.

Cons: It took 3 years before we could block certain catagories from printing on our end of day closing receipt. We would have saved a ton in paper costs over these last 3 years if we could have chosen sooner what we wanted to print out.

Pros: I enjoy having the ability to view sales down to the minute. I am able to keep track of each employees sales and actions from home. Being part of a corporate business doing my weekly-monthly reports are incredibly easy with CAKE.

Cons: The software is constantly improving which is great. But with constant updates glitches occur. We also experienced connection issues which unfortunately took months to get resolved.

Pros: Easy to navigate, from set-up to employee training, to daily sales and reports, a very user friendly format.

Cons: Can't modify hours, for employee missteps, from a remote location. If an employee clocks in or out incorrectly, we would like to be able to correct the mistake without having to interrupt transactions during regular store hours.

Pros: the order menu is very easy to use and learn quickly. the drop down menus are easy to understand. the shortcuts help a lot. new users are still able to use the system while they learn the best and most efficient ways to place orders.

Cons: would be nice to have some more control from my office, but many of the issues have been addressed and added over the last 3 years. also would be nice to change how things are printed to the kitchen, especially the order of things

Pros: It accommodates our particular restaurant, we aren't a sit down restaurant where a server takes your order at the table and this still works for us. The Cake customer service is always helpful and gets things resolved when needed. They also take your input, which is nice. It's pretty inexpensive but holds up to the standards or well known POS systems. I would highly recommend this system for any restaurant!
