### "If you don't want features that will help your restaurant grow this is it. "

Benefits - very few, its a processing and pos basic. Issues - many, but do get resolved. Features - literally almost nothing. you get basic reporting. We switched to Toast.

Pros

Its useful that this POS offers 3 party features to install, to bad you gotta pay of them. Reports are easy to understand, what comes in and what your taxes are. Easy point of sale to use for your staff.

Cons

Alright after 2+ years of using Cake here it is for you guys. 1. On the phone with customer service probably 4 - 6 times a month. This is from reporting / dashboard issues, POS issues. Reporting issues: about 2 times a month we have to call about some kind of labor reporting issue and takes the engineers around 1 to 4 days to fix. Note - same issue occurs, another day or so for engineers to fix. Dozens of times we will be on the phone with a customer service rep, and both them and I will be having issues loading the reports to examine them. One time we were literally both waiting over 25 minutes for it to load. As a restaurant one of the best reports you could have is when the system literally tells you the cost of EVERYTHING. Ya, you won't be getting this with cake. Sure, you can add the cost of a single item to you (why even have this feature if it doesn't deduct it for you) but it wont deduct it for you at the end of the day. You'll have to do this on your own to figure out what it actually cost you. Cake takes into account on recommendation that their customers give them, I think and thats at least what they say except their features are almost non-existent. No marketing, No rewards, very basic reporting. Their hardware is super expensive, our kitchen printer stopped working and they quoted us like $450, I found it on amazon for $115. Just remember the 2.50% + $.10 a swipe, will actually really be costing you 3.50%. I could go on but I'm limited on characte

I used Cake at a previous restaurant when I moved the sent to Maliek Walkins in customer service. Great rep for Cake he walked me through a few things and was actually helpful. Didn’t act like he wanted to rush me and explained everything to me.I have used some of the other POS systems this is by far the easiest I have dealt with I did my own menu and installed everything myself.

Pros

I really like being able to input items on the POS.And not having to use my laptop every time I want to run a special or change a price.I really like that you can actually call customer service when you need help and someone actually answers quickly!

Cons

There is much I don’t like about the POS.

Not being able to have the rewards portion without upgrading my old units. Once I got the new units I will have to start with the rewards again.

The doordash integration is a bit clunky. Really need the ability to set pricing specifically for DoorDash and different than the Cake Online ordering(compassionless). I hear it is coming, and can't wait!

Cake is a perfectly adequate system that has served our needs but as we grow we feel like we need to search for a more robust system with all of the features that we need. Customer service has always been responsive, even if to tell us that the features we requested aren't available.

Pros

This system is user friendly and has all of the BASIC features you need to get going. The customer facing hardware is attractive and functional. Back end programming is fairly easy to use once you are familiar with it. Online ordering has been fairly easy to implement and has all of the BASIC functions you need.

Cons

After working with this system in multiple locations for a few years, we have come to learn of some shortcomings - reporting with the system in difficult to navigate and hard to generate more detailed sales reports. It is not an intuitive reporting system. The basic snapshot functions are great, but digging deeper to get more detailed reports is cumbersome. Also some basic functionality on the restaurant side is still missing. Tickets in the kitchen print up items in random order and there is no way to address this in the system. Most other systems have the basis functions to group and prioritize items on tickets for the kitchen and bar printers. You don't realize how important this is until you don't have it on a POS system. There is still no way to offer discounts or accept gift cards online either.

Very solid, they have earned my respect and trust. I have appreciated the help getting everything going and the simplicity that the software provides.

Pros

Cake is an easy software to understand and use. Compared to Toast or Square the setup is straightforward, the interface is clean and the POS equipment is very high quality. Reports are instantly available, customer service is top-notch, and transactions are smooth and hassle free.

Cons

Customizing the online ordering screen as well as the second screen for the POS. Both are very limited and don't allow me to alter font, or layout/style. I'd like to represent my image better and I can't do that if I can't alter the fonts and add graphics.

After hearing nightmare stories from others in the coffee industry with other POS systems, we wouldn’t change a thing. We are more than happy with the experience so far, and we are excited for the updates and changes we’ll see in the future.

Very easy to set up the menu; customer service has always been top notch; online reports include the information you need to run a business effectively; POS terminal is attractive and customer friendly.

Cons

Would love to see stamps integrated between POS and online ordering; accessing older reports is time consuming; some of the reports are buried within other reports and can be hard to find.

Very positive experience. Our sales rep \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] was incredibly thorough and did a great job with comparisons and pricing. We felt comfortable with our decision to go with CAKE. Our onboarding specialist \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] did a great job and walked us through any difficulties as we learned and installed. Our Customer Success Manager \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] has been awesome! Anytime there was a question with our billing he was in contact with us immediately and was patient as he walked us through items and handled them quickly.

Pros

System had the features we needed. It was easy to understand, implement and train staff on. Setup for menu, items and pricing as easy to understand and implement.

Cons

As a small coffee shop, we dont have the need for some of the items within the bundle. CAKE University is great. Only drawback was it can't always breakdown some questions. Inventory management section could use a better training piece but since every business is different this may not be doable.

Reason for choosing CAKE POS

The others seemed to have fees attached, monthly software fees were all over the place, implementation fees were higher, processing fees varied considerably, upfront fees were way higher with others.

Customer service is always great and has answers quickly. I have had little interruption with service at all. It's the 3rd POS I have used within my business, and it is by far my favorite.

Pros

The reporting system is great. I appreciate being able to access information in real time from an off site location.

Cons

Not in love with the organization of my screen. Seems for some items there is a lot of buttons to push. Would like a "best sellers" screen as a home screen, would also like the extra fee features to be able to default to off and have employees use it as needed.

The rep that installed the system and trained us was helpful and informative. The system is easy to use and customer service is excellent. We have had no issues with the system, but if there is something you don't know how to to do- call them and they will walk you through it. Hold times for customer service are short or non-existent. Also, they update the system frequently, so if there is a feature you would like to change or add just submit a suggestion to them. As I said before, they are extremely helpful and accommodating.

Pros

Extremely user friendly. Easy to change user permissions, access reports, and update menu from system, back office, and from any computer or mobile device even offsite. Reporting is clear and easy to use as well.

Cons

No major issues. Easy to access reports- could have added features to make it easier, such as the payroll hourly reporting feature- it would be better if it had an option to click the employee name to see all of the daily hours listed for each instead of having only the timesheets function to see the list. Also, on the item sales- listing the add-ons or upcharges for side options would be extremely helpful- could be a drop down similar to the categories. Otherwise, reporting is great and as easy to use as the rest of the system functions.

We have just added the gift card feature, pleasantly surprised at how well they are selling in just a few days of offering them. we are getting ready to implement the loyalty rewards, as we are getting many requests for that feature. And we are taking a leap and implementing the online ordering feature. As we are getting many requests for that option.

Pros

The ease of use. The ability to edit the menu, to make it more user friendly. Our employees have told us, this is the easiest system they have ever used. And they have come from other food establishments.

Cons

At this point in time, we are fairly new users and new to running a coffee shop. We do not have any cons to list.

The platform, hardware, software After comparing several other products, we settled on Cake for the ease of use. The Cake system just seemed to fit better for what we were imagining. The other systems seemed like overkill and were more for chain operations.

We are very happy with CAKE, it saves me time bookkeeping, helps with inventory and is easy for our employees. The support is wonderful and I can not say enough how nice it is to use CAKE payments for credit card processing and have everything under one system with easy to use reports!

Pros

The thing that I like the most is being able to connect to the POS with my computer or phone. It makes life as an owner easier, I can make buttons for items or change prices even if I am not at the tavern. Also being able to pull reports up on my computer is much better than working only with the close cash slip. The support is wonderful, I always get an answer to my question or the help I need. It is just so easy to use that even employees who have never used a POS can learn to use it easily and fairly quickly.

Cons

There are only a few features that we would change such as, if you set hours for happy hour, after it is over, items cannot be cashed out if they are already on an open order so you would have to have everyone pay as you go or cash out before a certain time. The other feature that doesn't really work for our tavern is that if a refund is performed, the whole amount doesn't show as a refund, part does and the other part is refunded on the employee's tips. We would love to see the ability to close cash and assign drawers from the website as well. Other than that, we are totally happy with this system!

This is a tough question, as it is always being updated, but the one thing that would help a business owner is to be able to log into the mobile account and be able to see not just what the current sales are, but how many open orders and the dollar amount tagged to that.

Reason for choosing CAKE POS

When I sat through a 45 minute webinar and was shown how user friendly and cost effective it was, I was sold. Every question I had about the system during the webinar was easily answered by the representitave.

### "They Give You Choices....Who Doesn't Like Choices?"

The highest grade i will ever give a POS system is a 9/10 because there is always something new and innovative that you will be chasing, no matter which system you have. Therefore there is no '10' system. These guys got the 9. They have a nice system, but what i like best, is that they survey their CURRENT customers to find out what they can do better, then make it better. And they give you choices.....who doesn't like choices?!

Pros

Look: Unlike many of the Micros and Aloha-type companies out there, the machine looks modern and even futuristic with the customer touch screen. We demo'd with Revel and their multi-screen set up looks out of place and almost alien-like. What is that? Ease of Use: It has many features that make training a breeze. Training mode, quick search bar for menu items, global modifiers, etc. The screen is organized, and not cluttered with a bazillion different colors like a fireworks display. i always hated that with other systems. Price: They give you what you NEED, whether it is included with the system or a 3rd party add on. This helps keep the cost down for folks like me who don't need a robust inventory system or scheduling software....if i did need it, I could add that on. They don't include, and charge you for everything, when you may not use everything. Sysco: How can you not feel comfortable doing business with a POS company owned by this food distribution giant? This was part of why we went with them.

Cons

i must say, the name sounds a bit silly, but does Apple sell Apples? The Support was a bit shaky for a minute but i was told they just added an additional Support department in Texas. Since then, it has been great! I would like to see more from their loyalty program. Support told me this is being upgraded and will be included in an upcoming software update!

Conversation Summary/Sample Review: Before we started with CAKE, everything was done by hand so we had to write stuff down which posed a challenge because now you had to know what went on everything and how much things were to charge for extra. There was also no way for us to track anything, really. Now we can track sales of items in general as well as hourly, and there is even an option to track by 15-minute period, which is even greater. Changing the menu is easy and I don't have to have meetings to tell people about new prices and things, I just give a heads up and then it just shows up on the machine. Customization is super easy, so even if the customer wants something we don't have in there it's super easy to enter. And then my favorite part is that I can have different printers that send information where it needs to go, so I can send the fryer exactly what they need and the grill what they need which has helped us out a lot. Instead of looking at an order with a ton of information that makes it hard to see what needs to be done, each person can see exactly what they need to do for their part and then have it come together with better accuracy.

Cons

It would be great if customers could order online and pay with PayPal. An app for remote access to the system would be amazing.

Cake saves us time with customers and employee training. It is very user friendly and the support team is very friendly and helpful.

Pros

We switched to CAKE because we were launching a bigger location and with an expanded menu, this was the better option for us. We were previously using Square which didn't have a lot of the functions we needed as a bigger business. It's much easier for employees to work now because CAKE allows them to do clocking in and out in one convenient location, all the menu options can be put in the system which saves their time entering and hunting, and overall it's much more organized. We can also easily change the menu from our laptops on a regular basis because we've been adding a bunch of stuff, and it's much easier from our computers. The reports help us keep records of what sells the best during each season and we can decide then to bring it back or not. A lot of our customers are really impressed as well, it's very easy for them to use and they tell us on a regular basis. It's really user friendly and it all comes down to the ease of use. We just have no complaints, and whenever I need support it's easy to get to.

Cons

The screen will freeze from time to time but it is easily fixed by restarting the machine. I also wish we could find receipts by card holders last name, it would be easier to go back if we need to find a receipt for different purposes.

When we can pull a report to tell us the last time a "Tuna Sandwich" sold, that explains why the container as aged out....reports like this help us make menu decisions based on numbers and not just we thinks.

Pros

The overall CAKE experience has been great from day 1 of asking questions to now 2+ years in business and using it daily. "Patience and care" that we knew what we were getting and the knowledge to work it was the deciding factor for our choosing CAKE.

Cons

I miss some of the features from the reports prior to the most recent updates but I like a lot, like the date range being as long or short a time frame as I want, of the new reports. I like the original "Employee Clock-Out Report". I still use it because the new "Payroll" report prints to lightly and is too busy with un-needed columns for my payroll purposes.

Reason for choosing CAKE POS

CUSTOMER SERVICE along with an integrated merchant reader/processor with very detailed explanations of charges are the main reasons we choose CAKE and are choosing to continue to use it even though the "other guys" come calling.

### "Streamline and solid POS employee facing screen"

Remote reports I can download or pdf a copy. Menu changes that is remote along with daily emails on sales summary. Easy to setup menu also.

Pros

I liked the system because it had a customer facing screen. I also didn't want to buy my own POS system so I could get updates from the software holder instead of getting stuck with outdated software. I like how they do send us updates and try to improve the system, constantly trying to make it better. I do everything remotely so there are a lot of new features that help with that too. I can pull reports quarterly and sales reports, look at tips and do all the payroll without a different system. Everything can be forwarded directly to my CPA. Even though there are things to improve on, I do recommend the system and like it a lot. I was very careful to pick the right one for the flow of the business, it feels right and after 2 years using it, it still feels great.

Cons

More frequent updates to remote manage since I usually work off site. Already does a good job, but lets keep the updates coming. I want to able to edit employee incorrect login times since I am always getting a text from an employee to help them fix it and be able to make discount changes remotely as well.
