### "The free plan on Buffer works great! "

October 26, 2023

5.0

Pros

We use the free plan and it has been beneficial. They have different calendar layouts so you can see what you have scheduled, where, and when. Very user-friendly, It has other features that you can pay for but if you just need a platform where you can schedule posts to 3 different social media platforms at once, Buffer is a great resource.

Cons

Occasionally, there is an issue connecting to Facebook and the scheduled post is not posted. That being said, when this does happen Buffer will send an email notifying us so we can quickly go and post separately just on that one platform.

### "By far, one of the best tools to manage your accounts"

December 16, 2023

4.0

It spared me time and effort and increased my workflow by just being able to access everything and anything across my social media all at once, scheduling is a deal breaker for me and they made it so easy that it actually saved me hours of scheduling.

Pros

The ease of scheduling across all platforms at once is a win for me, and also being able to see live data and data that needs to be handed in as a report

Cons

The pricing mostly, i think for a tool like this it has to be a little bit cheaper

### "A must have for social media sanity "

August 18, 2022

5.0

Would highly recommend for anyone, from casual poster, to social media addicts. Business or personal. This can help you make sure your feed is well spaced out, and at a decent price if you upgrade..

Pros

Love to be able to schedule posts in advance. Buffer makes it easy and painless. It will remind you when your queue is empty, so you never run dry. There's really no learning curve, it is that easy to do. You can have different accounts, which is nice, and it always does it's job. I've never had it fail.

Cons

It used to have more on the free side, then it upped the price. Understandabe, but still a bummer.

### "Free plan isn't anything special"

December 19, 2019

3.0

Overall, I'm unimpressed with the free. While the "suggested media" feature is helpful and I enjoy the uncomplicated user interface, the lack of analytics and random default posting schedule doesn't differentiate it from other social media management software. I'm unwilling to spend money to upgrade to the next level because I already have access to limited analytics and I can use IFTTT and Google Calendar to schedule my Pinterest posts for free.

Pros

I think that Buffer's "suggested media" feature is incredibly intuitive. Rather than having to upload an image for a social media post, Buffer pulls images from the post and prompts me to attach one of the images. Buffer's user interface is uncomplicated and easy to navigate, and I've never had a problem with Instagram posts that I've scheduled not being posted because my Buffer account disconnected from my Instagram account.

Cons

The default posting schedule that Buffer comes up with is random, even for premium users, it has nothing to do with engagement or views of past social media posts. With the free version, there aren't any analytics. To counter that, I ended up using other analytics software and a different link shortener.

Alternatives considered

[Hootsuite](https://www.capterra.com/p/121701/HootSuite/)

Reason for choosing Buffer

I didn't choose Buffer over Hootsuite. I used Buffer in conjunction with Hootsuite to determine which software was better. In the end, I chose Hootsuite because its default posting schedule and analytics were better than what Buffer had to offer.

### "Handy and Flexible Social Media Scheduling Tool"

February 24, 2021

5.0

My overall experience with Buffer has been great. I started using it a few months ago when my client invited me to help manage her social media posts. Prior to that I had heard about Buffer frequently but never used it. Familiarizing myself with the basics of the platform was pretty straightforward. Digging a bit deeper, I was amazed at the flexibility Buffer offers for scheduling content across multiple platforms.

Pros

I love Buffer's flexibility for scheduling posts to multiple platforms. You can use a pre-determined posting schedule or you can schedule a custom time. The posting schedule is a set of pre-selected time slots for each social media account. When you create a post and add it to the queue, Buffer will automatically assign the post to the next available time slot. If you want the post to go to the top of the queue, just choose the share next option. You can also set an entirely custom time that is not one of the existing time slots. Finally, you can choose to share your post immediately. Just choose the option that fits your needs. Another Buffer feature I love is the ability to share the same post to multiple platforms with the appropriate variations. You start with the basic post and select which of your connected social platforms you want to share it to. Then you can customize content for each platform. For instance, tweets need to be shorter but LinkedIn posts can be longer. You would only use one or two hashtags per tweet, but for Instagram you can use up to 30. In fact, common practice is to put these hashtag clouds in the first comment of your Instagram post - and Buffer has a space for that! When you're all done, you can just let Buffer automatically assign the posts to the next time slot for each platform. You can always view past and future posts by the Day, Week, or Month.

Cons

I have not encountered any cons with Buffer. It just takes a bit of time to explore all the options and discover what works for you.

### "The Perfect Alternative to Hootsuite"

April 6, 2022

5.0

When searching for a social media scheduling platform that permits more than 5 scheduled posts at a time, I'm so glad a colleague recommended Buffer. Buffer has been a life saver for me to be able to schedule posts in advance on a variety of platforms for my clients.

Pros

Buffer permits me to schedule up to 10 posts at a time for my clients across up to 3 linked platforms. I can also create a schedule on the site of what days and times each week I prefer to schedule, and those specific dates/times appear when opening the site. I can then just click on that to schedule my post for that time.

Cons

Early on I experienced some connection issues with Buffer as it unlinked the Instagram account. Sometimes uploading a photo goes awry for no particular reason and I have to reupload.

### "Almost everything I want"

May 29, 2019

4.0

As someone who schedules social media posts daily, both for my day job and for side projects, I need to be able to get posts written and scheduled quickly, and preferably in an app that I can enjoy using. Buffer fits the bill. It's the app I suggest the most to users who need something that works well for posting, thanks largely to its ease of use and pleasant UI and UX. I hesitate to recommend it for corporate functions (and indeed don't get to use it as often as I would like in my day job), however, because of the lack of analytics capability built in. Hoping this is something that gets changed soon.

Pros

Buffer is beautiful and it works really well for what it does. For those reasons alone, I'm a big fan. UI and UX are big deals for me when it comes to choosing software; I really believe that the best tools are the ones that you enjoy using, and I really do enjoy using Buffer. The process of making social posts is, in my opinion, simpler than with competing apps, and you just get the sense that you're using something that the development team actually thought through from a user's perspective. That's great.

Cons

Minor gripe, in a sense, but the continued lack of social analytics features makes Buffer a tough sell for some companies. Hootsuite is, frankly, less enjoyable to use, but its additional functionality gives it the edge in some data-driven capacities. Buffer has been working on analytics features to make up for this gap, but it's been a long while and nothing has come.

### "Great Social Media Scheduler, Needs UI Improvements "

July 25, 2019

5.0

I am able to schedule our client's social media posts quickly, and add 'filler content', retweets and tweet responses to pre-determined queues. It keeps all of our client's social media active and also engaging.

Pros

What I love most about Buffer is that they're constantly improving. They find ways to update their software and are always seeking ways to be more compliant yet at the same time, cutting edge.

Cons

I really dislike the UI very much. As part of my job, I need to test different software suites to see what makes sense. We manage 50 different social media channels, and having them all populate at the same time when I'm getting ready to schedule a single post is visually cluttered. However, Buffer recently introduced the ability to create groups of networks, so that a group can be selected instead of having to scroll through them all.

Hootsuite's recent update made creating posts cumbersome. There are 2 additional steps needed in order to schedule a single post. Very frustrating!

### "Buffer is great"

March 13, 2022

5.0

Overall I have had a great experience with Buffer, especially since their pricing adjustment allowing for unlimited post scheduling. The customer service is also excellent.

Pros

One of the greatest (and newest features) is the calendar view that allows for multiple posts to be scheduled simultaneously. This has been an extreme time saver and is a great improvement to the queue that requires a scroll through each day. I was extremely satisfied with this update.

Cons

I don't like that only the Twitter platform allows for you to write in the alt text. I would really appreciate that the Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn buffer scheduling connections allowed for this as well. It is annoying to have to go back into the platform to then type in the alt text for those platforms after the schedule post went live. I would appreciate consistency across the platforms particularly for this feature.

### "Social media scheduling that just works (if you don't have sophisticated needs)"

April 23, 2021

4.0

Buffer is a great choice to start with social media scheduling. But as the competition grows, you can choose anything you want.

Pros

It's dead simple and easy to understand how it works. It does what it should do, and can integrate with other services. It's well designed, so you exactly know what to do next.

Cons

It's simple, but sometimes too simple. There was a moment they implemented a new feature - a post library. It was terrific but didn't move from beta to production. Compared to other tools, it's intentionally limited.

### "Buffer is a bare-bones alternative to it's competitors"

April 20, 2021

3.0

Buffer is great for posting directly to social media without having to log into each platform to manage your accounts. IT has a very reasonable price point for the services that it provides.

Pros

Buffer is easy to use for scheduling and posting to social media. It has saved us a lot of time compared to posting directly to each social media platform. The pricing structure for Buffer is great, and they honor legacy pricing while still passing along the upgrades that normally come with price hikes.

Cons

The tracking and analytics are a bit lackluster when compared to Hootsuite. I would like to see the ability to monitor and respond to replies and comments directly from the app, too.

### "Social media marketing gets a whole lot easier with Buffer"

October 22, 2018

5.0

Love using Buffer. A great tool that will save your time, money, and more.

Pros

I mainly use Buffer (free version) to schedule tweets and it works great. I switched to Buffer from HootSuite and it immediately impressed me. HootSuite is a bit difficult to use, but Buffer is spot on. It is easy as hell. I use Buffer on my phone to schedule posts and it works like a charm. Its Chrome extension is indeed a life-saver. With Chrome extension, you can select any text on any web page and add it to your Buffer queue. I just love this feature.

Cons

With free version, you can queue 10 tweets and when you are using Buffer on your mobile, it doesn't give you any alert when your queued is all filled. So when I have created a nice tweet and my queue is all filled up and I will add the 11th tweet to my queue, I will then get a message that my queue is filled (after all the hard work on my part has been done). This is kind of irritating. This alert should be sent when the queue is filled instead of when the 11th tweet is prepared and added to queue.

### "Great Social Media Management Tool!"

June 14, 2018

5.0

Buffer makes my life easier. I go in on Monday mornings and schedule my clients' posts for the week. In one hour, I've got enough content scheduled to make my clients look smart and active. Buffer also gives you great guidelines by keeping you top of changes in policy and by showing you which posts have been most sucsessful in the past. It's a great \*BASIC\* social media management tool.

Pros

Buffer is so easy to use, and it has great features like post analytics, the ability to add images, and post scheduling. I've used competitor products in the past, and Buffer is the hands-down winner when it comes to easy of use. It's "sister" product, Pablo, allows me to create images with text that I can post via Buffer, which is a nice addition. Overall Buffer is a great way to manage multiple social accounts on behalf of my clients at a very affordable price point.

Cons

The only downside of Buffer is that it doesn't have the ability to respond to social - so if you want to really build your following, you do have actually go into the social channels to retweet, repost or reply.

### "An effective way to keep your social media consistent."

September 16, 2018

3.0

I've used Buffer to handle all of my major social media updates; whenever I have an important piece of news that I want to bring to my followers, regardless of where they engage with my content, Buffer is the obvious choice. I can't even imagine how many cumulative hours I've saved using Buffer to schedule one post where I would have otherwise needed to schedule 3 or more separate updates, all with the same information. Because of that, I'd argue it's almost essential for anyone that needs to update multiple accounts frequently.

Pros

Buffer does exactly what it claims to do - allow you to more easily manage your social media accounts and spend less time updating them individually. It's a simple premise for a service, but one that's very useful and helps save a ton of time. Buffer not only makes this painless, but gives you a ton of scheduling features and options on top of that.

Cons

The pricing on Buffer premium is pretty high. I can see it being worth the investment for bigger social media presences, but for low to mid-tier personalities, small business, or just individual users, I don't see a need to spend so much on Buffer when the basic features would do just fine. Also, if you're scheduling a post for multiple services at once and include Twitter, you will be subject to Twitter's character limit. Similar restrictions also apply for other services. While understandable, I still wish there was some kind of solution for this.

Overall is good. I use it every week and not so much. but it saves me the hassle of having to write and edit content directly on the social media channel.

### "Great product "

December 3, 2023

4.0

I enjoy Buffer's simplicity and user friendly website and app. It makes schedule ahead a breeze and the amount of times I can schedule a post is great for the free version.

Pros

I enjoy that Buffer's interface is simple and user friendly. I didn't need a guide to go through setting up and scheduling my social media. The app works really great as well and is required if you want to post your Instagram posts because it doesn't do it automatically for you. The app will remind you it's time to post for Instagram and have the post ready for you, you just have to submit.

Cons

I'd prefer to not have to manually submit my Instagram posts, but not sure if that's only a feature required for the free plan. Never the less it's not the biggest con for me, just minor inconvenience if I'm busy living life.

### "Time saving tool... mostly."

September 19, 2022

4.0

Overall, Buffer is useful depending on what social media platforms you use. If you're not uploading a ton of content, you can use the free version! However, I did recently move away from Buffer to use Canva's social media scheduling feature and I prefer it.

Pros

I've been using Buffer for a few years now. It's been a time saving little tool for our non-profit and my personal business. I appreciate the scheduling feature coordinated with many platforms for uploading. It's been a go-to tool for a long time until we started using Canva's social media instant upload and scheduling.

Cons

I've navigated around the limitations of the free plan the whole time I've used this platform. You can only have 10 posts in the queue if you're not paying. Annoying, but understandable. What my biggest hang up is with Buffer is the Instagram uploads. It's frustrating to have to download a different size and reupload new sizes for each platform. Plus, you can't upload videos or carousels. So I don't use Buffer for Instagram uploads. If you need to edit a post, you have to go back into each platform section individually to edit even though you created them together.

### "Save time and post better content with Buffer"

September 19, 2019

5.0

Ive been a Buffer paid customer for a few years now. Ive dabbled with other software of the same genre but Buffer integrations, the interface, the value for money with the amount of accounts available, and now the new functionality of CRM and better publishing features makes it a no brainier choice over something way more expensive. Buffer get it done at a basic and expert level.

Pros

The integrations with every page and app I use. The iOS functionality makes it so easy to share brilliant content and keep an eye on the interactions that post gets. Its also brilliant if there are more than a couple of posts shared per day.

Cons

Sometimes its difficult to pull the image from the website or post Im sharing and if I share in Safari it means I cant go back and open up another Safari window to look up info to better help me write the post copy. Im sure its a browser issue or something but on mobile its a tiny bit harder to manage.

Reason for choosing Buffer

They were all quite expensive. Later was one option I was dabbling with over the last few months but it still cant keep up with Buffer and the mobile integration is not great. I mostly post from mobile and it is pretty bad. Buffer and Pocket integration and Feedly integration is the bulk of my usage. Great app!

### "Buffer makes easy to mange and control Social media and public engagement."

May 20, 2019

5.0

I like how this simplifies and helped me plan all my social engagements. I can now see when all the news and updates are publishing and I can make changes regarding the situation. Buffer helps me to get more time to create engaging media content other than wasting time on social media. Buffer saves me a lot of time and hassle.

Pros

Buffer helps me to manage public engagement and news publication on social media very easy. It is easy to set up and configure with social profile. I also can add my personal as well as a company profile for the automatic news update. I can set up periodic time setup for week or month. I can check all the analytics inside buffer application. The schedule is simple and easy to create and manage. I can add my team member and set their role inside the application. With free 10 schedule post gives me to plan for 2-3 day in advance.

Cons

When set-up the default date-time is different, and no option to set up when registering. There is no quick share option, I have to go to the main menu to create/schedule posts. I found other competitors are using a free and open source image service, which comes handy sometimes. Else I have to download and then upload to post.

### "Social Media Marketers Needs Buffer to Grow businesses"

April 3, 2019

Automating social media posting by scheduling posts on Social media and publishing across various all medias.

Pros

As a social media user in my digital marketing company, I have explored Buffer to manage all my social media accounts including my clients own. Buffer makes it easier to make a single post automatically published on your various social media platforms with a single click. With Buffer, I can also schedule my post for any time to be automatically published so I can automate my social media accounts and go to other activities and see it published at the time I made it be published.

Cons

It's Analytics isn't as detailed as it could. Buffer Needs to improve in offering analytics for engagement on the social media but I know this might attract more cost but it's find and can be available in another plan for those that needs it.

### "Buffer was good at first, but after first unpublished post, I started looking elsewhere."

September 22, 2018

I find it useful for startups that are in the beginning and don't have a lot of content. After some time, you might start looking for a higher price service.

Pros

I like that it's easy to use, navigate and I liked using it for a couple of my clients as I work as a Social Media Manager and I've used it for many clients because it was cheap and it worked pretty good.

Cons

After using this software for over a year or so, I noticed that a few times, my post didn't get published and the software didn't even send notification to my email or phone and I didn't post anything to social media when I needed to. This started happening more often later on, and that is the reason I went looking for services that will not let me down in these situations.
