It has significantly reduced my average time of day-to-day AD administrative activities such as provisioning, password resets, group management, or any other bulk changes. Some of these procedures that previously required multiple steps now can be done in one flow. Additionally, I find it helpful that I can access all relevant information in the form of reports instead of having to check every specific AD object. It was totally worth the while to get familiar with this software, which now serves me well in terms of having an efficient platform to organize and store user data. Pros I liked most is that it simplifies day-to-day management of Active Directory users. You can create users, update their information, change passwords, manage groups, and perform other routine operations from one place, not various consoles. Performing the same actions in bulk is also possible. It reduces the number of repetitive tasks in AD management, and predefined reports and automation scenarios help to achieve it. Everything is easy and intuitive once you get to know the interface. Cons The initial learning curve is a bit of a challenge because there are a lot of settings and options to get used to. It is well suited for on-boarding teams and intial-tier support teams that will help support users. Pros We use ManageEngine ADManager Plus to automate all operations that involve Active Directory within our environment. We use it from the very beginning in our onboarding process. It is simple to set up different types of profiles for different types of employees. ADManager Plus automatically configures everything from their display name, email configuration, group lists, and licensing. After setup, ADManager Plus allows my team to manage users in any way we wish, making account changes a thing of simplicity. Cons The program itself is somewhat clunky. It doesn't have as modern a feel as some other programs. This doesn't detract from the usage of the program, which is still very effective. However, when things are a bit more modern it makes it a joy to use. Pros I like the ease of being able to bulk modify and create entities in AD using ADManager Plus, along with the automation that it can do. Cons Something I don't like about ADManager is that it doesn't seem as adaptive, such as if you create a large amount of custom reports, they can overflow from the container and it can then be hard to select the report you want. It has been very helpful Pros We use it to identify machines that need to be cleaned out of AD and to monitor user changes in AD. We have automated reports for both and that is the best feature! ADManager Plus fills all the gaps that Microsoft left. Simple mass imports with automatic OU assignments, mass changes to existing accounts, etc. Some of this can be done through PowerShell, sure, but this makes it easy. Pros The interface has really improved and modernized over the year. It integrates perfectly with Active Directory and can do just about anything you can imagine. It's speedy, too—large tasks don't take long at all. I've used this product for many, many years (over a decade) and have rarely needed support, but on the rare occasion I have reached out for assistance, they've been helpful. The price is fantastic for what you get. It can seem like a one-trick pony at first, but the more you use it the more you realize what else you can do with it. Having on-prem AD and M365 tasks in a single interface keeps things simple for a small team. Cons Upgrades need a maintenance window and some homework, because the upgrade path runs through intermediate builds. Anomaly alerts are judged against the server's time zone, which produced false 'weekend activity' flags for us until we understood why. Pros ADManager provides a visual interface for advanced reporting and AD actions through a web console - a lot of functions that might otherwise require some scripting competency and delegating administrative and access rights to users that you mightn't otherwise allow in more secure environments. It combines the functionality of active directory, 365 and powershell modules for AD and task scheduler to achieve advanced reporting & management from a central, easy to navigate place - also allowing for delegation and distribution of admin rights across certain groups/OUs without having to expose underlying infrastructure and services to regional administrators or more technical users, ensuring that everything stays secure and within compliancy rulesets. Cons Some functions can be difficult to find and might require searching through sub-menu's. The product also provides an SMTP reporting/notification feature which can leave a lot to be desired. The in built reporting function produces legible and customisable excel sheets/PDFs however this functionality doesn't seem to exist in the same vein when dealing with the email notifications and as such trying to backtrack through these notifications to understand what takes may or may not have run successfully can be quite difficult, especially if like us you have configured many automated jobs to run each night and end up with a bulk set of emails to try and digest the following morning. I was also able to connect Active Directory with Microsoft 365 to make sure that the process of provisioning was linked so that I did not have to use PowerShell. Cons One of the problems that I faced was the schedulling of the inactive accounts report. The detailed reports available regarding the usage and access that the users had were highly advantageous to our security measures. Cons I faced some challenges with some of the HR management systems implementing some of the systems. May 4, 2018 4.0 AD Management through the web! Pros ADMP is quick and simple to set-up. The ability to make AD-related change through a web portal has brought convenience to IT. ADMP makes generating reports and collecting information through forms convenient and simple. For our small IT department, ADMP allows for many different IT backgrounds to participate fully in supporting AD-related management operations without having to be well versed in Windows, or to know Powershell. ADMP has also made synchronizing our cloud and on-premise environments through automation simple and organized. Their support staff has been very courteous in resolving our issues. Issues that are brought to their attention are genuinely acted on with importance. On more complex issues, they actively reach out to us update us on the status of the problem until it's resolved. Cons The UI is outdated, and the mobile app is a underwhelming. There are some arbitrary limitations that seemingly pop up out of nowhere, but generally there are ways to work around them, but they leave you scratching your head why? In some parts of the UI you can use %substitute% variables, but then in others you can not for seemingly no reason. I really wish they would go "all in" on making their template system even more robust. AD and on-prem services aren't the only thing we have to worry about updating, and many cloud services don't have native LDAP/AD integrations, being able to collect information in templates to provide information through scripts for these services would make this product AAA. Currently, you can collect some information, but the customization options for the fields is limited to only a single line, whereas you should be able to pick many different field types (dropdown, radio button, etc) for making changes. ADManager Plus was the first tool I purchased from them, and I now have 4 other tools that are in use within my organization. The support staff gets back to you quickly when you have questions and are very helpful, and the pricing is very reasonable for what is offered. Pros This has made complicated AD reports a thing of the past. Once I got the hang of creating automated reports, this quickly became my favorite AD tool. I also use it for user and group management, which is also much easier than doing from a Domain Controller. Cons There is a bit of a learning curve, and the little bit of documentation that there is leaves a lot to be desired. I often have to call support for more complicated inquiries.
