It has significantly reduced my average time of day-to-day AD administrative activities such as provisioning, password resets, group management, or any other bulk changes. Some of these procedures that previously required multiple steps now can be done in one flow. Additionally, I find it helpful that I can access all relevant information in the form of reports instead of having to check every specific AD object. It was totally worth the while to get familiar with this software, which now serves me well in terms of having an efficient platform to organize and store user data. Pros I liked most is that it simplifies day-to-day management of Active Directory users. You can create users, update their information, change passwords, manage groups, and perform other routine operations from one place, not various consoles. Performing the same actions in bulk is also possible. It reduces the number of repetitive tasks in AD management, and predefined reports and automation scenarios help to achieve it. Everything is easy and intuitive once you get to know the interface. Cons The initial learning curve is a bit of a challenge because there are a lot of settings and options to get used to. On the positive side, it really cuts down the time spent on everyday AD tasks, bulk updates, user management, and password resets are way easier compared to doing them manually. The reporting features also give good visibility into permissions and activity, which makes audits less painful. That said, the interface feels outdated and clunky, and there’s definitely a learning curve when you’re first getting started. Some of the advanced features take extra effort to set up, and the whole experience doesn’t feel as smooth or modern as it could. Still, once you get past those hurdles, it’s a reliable tool that makes AD management more manageable. It is well suited for on-boarding teams and intial-tier support teams that will help support users. Pros We use ManageEngine ADManager Plus to automate all operations that involve Active Directory within our environment. We use it from the very beginning in our onboarding process. It is simple to set up different types of profiles for different types of employees. ADManager Plus automatically configures everything from their display name, email configuration, group lists, and licensing. After setup, ADManager Plus allows my team to manage users in any way we wish, making account changes a thing of simplicity. Cons The program itself is somewhat clunky. It doesn't have as modern a feel as some other programs. This doesn't detract from the usage of the program, which is still very effective. However, when things are a bit more modern it makes it a joy to use. Easy setup, reports work prefect. Once i had the application setup, besides updates to the software, i never have to do anything unless i am looking for a new report. Software just works. Pros The ease of initial setup and the reports that can be generated from it are what drove me to want to use it initially. It has so many features that can be used and the setup can be very complex if you really want to dive in, but the nice thing is that it can be done over time. The initial setup to get it reporting and allowing you to make changes from it are very easy and quick. I have had very few issues with it and when I did have to reach out to support, they were very helpful. Quick to respond and answered all my questions. One of the best features of this product is the cost. The ease of initial setup and the reports that can be generated from it are what drove me to want to use it initially. We bought if for a very specific use case - to clean up our AD after years of neglect, and to help with the conversion from Windows 10 to Windows 11 machines. It has been very helpful Pros We use it to identify machines that need to be cleaned out of AD and to monitor user changes in AD. We have automated reports for both and that is the best feature! ADManager Plus fills all the gaps that Microsoft left. Simple mass imports with automatic OU assignments, mass changes to existing accounts, etc. Some of this can be done through PowerShell, sure, but this makes it easy. Pros The interface has really improved and modernized over the year. It integrates perfectly with Active Directory and can do just about anything you can imagine. It's speedy, too—large tasks don't take long at all. I've used this product for many, many years (over a decade) and have rarely needed support, but on the rare occasion I have reached out for assistance, they've been helpful. The price is fantastic for what you get. It can seem like a one-trick pony at first, but the more you use it the more you realize what else you can do with it. Pros i really have great time when using ManageEngine Ad manager since it has a very interactive interface and powerful automation features that streamline the Active directory management tasks. The ability to handle bulk user operations, Automate user deactivation and activations, generate reports that help in compliance and auditing. It also integrates with ms365 and hybrid environments effectively. Cons In a large environment which has a lot of Ad object count, Ad manager is always slow to load. Really like the user provisioning functions and the compliance with GDPR and HIPAA is of great value to us. Highly recommended. Pros We do a lot of reporting for our customers so the automation of admin tasks and repetitive processes with no scripting is really good providing time savings.
