PingPlotter

## What is PingPlotter?

PingPlotter is a network monitoring and troubleshooting tool that goes beyond basic ping tests. Unlike speed tests, it continuously tracks metrics like latency, jitter, and packet loss, offering a detailed view of network health over time. Users can visualize the network path between a device and an endpoint, pinpointing issues at the router, ISP, or further along. The intuitive charts and diagnostics help quickly identify and resolve problems. Features include performance alerts, data sharing with technical teams, and connection quality assessments for VoIP, remote desktop, and video calls. PingPlotter can monitor a single computer or be deployed across multiple locations via PingPlotter Cloud, providing centralized reporting. By delivering actionable insights, PingPlotter helps troubleshoot efficiently, reduce downtime, and optimize network performance.

It was really a good tool for monitoring. It was simple, and has good customization options, like set the interval, which helps to avoid problems with some firewalls for security reasons.

Pros

It's quite simple to configure and use. In a few minutes you have already setled all the hosts you want to monitor.

Cons

The free option only covers a single host, which is a little frustrating, you can't monitor your internal and external connection at the same time.

I enjoy using PingPlotter when the need arises for it, I always find it an insightful product and the data it gives us is always very valuable.

Pros

PingPlotter is an incredibly powerful and valuable tool that has helped us monitor and diagnose connectivity issues for clients for many years. We have hardly ever experienced any bugs and issues. Furthermore, it's manage network management much easier now that we can see exactly where problems lie along our connection routes. Customer support from PingPlotter has never been an issue and I would say that as far as security and value for money is concerned, the product is well worth it.

Cons

The interface has a very small learning curve, but once you get used to it after playing around a bit you quickly find your feet and it becomes easier.

As mentioned earlier, I had been having dropouts with Internet at our business for a couple of weeks. We had checked everything on site. Nothing in our router or equipment had changed except our VOIP phones were having daily drops. When the ISP checked, their throughput was fine. It was the very minute complete packet loss drops that was causing all kind of h\*\*\* with our business phones. PingPlotter really came through to help nail down the culprit.

Pros

PingPlotter had the ability not only to show the problem but write a screenshot of the packet loss to a folder which made it easier to prove to the ISP that there indeed WAS a problem with the feed. I had chased this problem and argued with the ISP for that their system was dropping packets for two weeks with no avail. With the proof from PP, they finally sent a technician out and amazingly found they had a problem!

Cons

Not really applicable. There is a bit of a learning curve but you have that with any piece of technology that has this kind of depth of information.
