### "Flexible and Powerful Backup Solution for Advanced Users"

April 30, 2025

4.0

MSP360 has been a dependable solution in our MSP toolkit. It's particularly great for customers who already have preferred cloud storage or want control over backup destinations. While not as "plug-and-play" as other options, the flexibility it provides is unmatched when tailored properly

Pros

MSP360 offers a flexible, powerful backup platform with support for local, cloud, and hybrid storage. It's highly customizable, supports a wide range of storage providers (AWS, Wasabi, Backblaze, etc.), and has detailed job logs and reporting. The granular restore options and image-based backup are also strong points.

Cons

The interface can feel outdated and overwhelming for new users. Remote management through the web console (especially in legacy versions) lacks polish. Some errors can be cryptic and require deep digging.

### "MSP360 5 Stars"

November 4, 2024

5.0

Overall has been huge success to our business. Has made our lives easier and ability to control backups from afar is great. Lots of room to adjust settings and adjust to what we need.

Pros

Ease of use and overall working. If something isn't working, their support is very respnosive and quick.

Cons

We've gone through some bugs on the Mac side but those are resolved after an update or so. Annoyances but something that may be expected.

### "MSP360 Free Backup is a great introduction to the ecosystem"

September 5, 2024

5.0

As with anybody who works in IT, I also support my family and extended family. The MSP360 Free Backup product is great for family members with simple backup needs who maybe don't have a ton of data.

Pros

MSP360 Free Backup has all the reliability of its paid counterparts and it's a great introduction to the MSP360 backup ecosystem. The free version is just enough to be useful and works great for parents/grandparents/in-laws whoever you are supporting that you'd like to keep their data safe.

Cons

It is quite limited but it's really hard for me to knock a free product on its limitations.

### "Geared for Managed Service Providers, but also great for SMBs"

August 13, 2024

5.0

I've been using MSP360 Managed Backup for a few years and it's been a simple way to achieve the 3-2-1-1-0 Backup rule. I like the fact that they are cloud storage agnostic which gives flexibility, plus you can utilize onsite NAS storage. The web-based centralized management of your backups is very easy and you don't have to worry about building / upgrading a server to run central management of your backups.

Pros

Flexibility in choosing storage (local and a variety of cloud options). No on-prem centralized backup server to maintain and update. It's very rare I have backup errors...it just works

Cons

Deleting Microsoft 365 user account data is unintuitive and some of the Microsoft 365 integrations in general can take awhile to get a hang of.

### "It just works."

August 13, 2024

5.0

Very positive since implementation. No problems or complaints.

Pros

It just works, and I don't have to spend time figuring out why I am getting errors or warnings.

Cons

I'd like to see an easier method of on-demand file restoring without a restore plan.

### "My experiencie"

August 20, 2024

4.0

Overall, MSP360 Managed Backup delivers a technically robust solution with extensive multi-platform compatibility and flexible cloud storage integration. It supports advanced features like block-level backup, AES-256 encryption, and granular file versioning, providing strong data protection. Despite its steep learning curve during initial deployment and somewhat limited reporting capabilities, the software excels in scalability and efficiency. Its pay-as-you-go model, while potentially complex, offers cost-effective scalability, making it a reliable tool for managed service providers and businesses with diverse IT environments.

Pros

Compatible with various cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

The initial configuration can be challenging for new users

### "MSP360 reseller point of view"

November 14, 2023

5.0

It is a reliable, versatile, manageable backup system. Therefore, I am very happy with it.

Pros

I like the centralized monitoring. I can look in one place to quickly see the status of all. The green circle on the dashboard is perfect. Of course, if there is an issue, I can usually address it right from the dashboard

Cons

Restoring files from an image backup is confusing. I don't do it a lot, but I have to look it up every time, and even then it is confusing. I also configuring the retention times is confusing. I wish there was more detail on the impact of each choice. The setup on the Dashboard for a new customer is very confusing at first. I made a list of instructions when I first did it so now I breeze through. However, it was rough at first requiring one to jump around the interface a lot.

Reason for choosing MSP360 Backup

I did not consider other products. MSP360 (Cloudberry at the time) was the first alternative I looked at.

Switched from

[CrashPlan](https://www.capterra.com/p/145112/CrashPlan/)

Crashplan used to be great, but they have slowly gotten worse and worse for customer support. I also like the fact the MSP360 is a whole server restore solution instead of just data. However, I found the Crashplan interface to restore individual files much easier to use than MSP 360.

### "One of the best backup product for SMB and IT providers"

September 7, 2022

5.0

Very satisfied, have been using many backup products in past 20 years and now I am happy and satisfied user, re-seller and admin of MSP360 for almost 10 years and have no plans to switch to anything else. Quite a lot of times I use it to restore some files, which users deleted accidentally or overwrote unintentionally, and process of finding right version of the file is much, much easier than with many other products.

Pros

What we like most is product being in affordable price range even for resale to lower budget end-users, while at the same time having all enterprise options and, as shown during years of use, enterprise reliability.

Cons

It is minor, but WEB user interface is a bit odd to me, as I was more used to some on-premises backup solutions. But it just needs some time to get used to, far beyond it being deal breaker.

### "Extremely customisable and reliable"

September 7, 2022

5.0

We have been using it for 5+ years and would have stayed if it wasn't good enough for our clients. It's also great to be able to brand the installation client for a professional look.

Pros

It is very easy to use and offers a wide range of configuration options. Initial setup is quick and the costs are reasonable. It's also especially good to be able to pick multiple Cloud storage providers as well as having a local backup to NAS as an option.

Cons

Some of the monitoring reports could be expanded upon, and also some of the Restore filters to enable to browse/search certain archived files could be improved.

### "MSP360 a backup solution for MSPs and Corporations"

December 20, 2022

5.0

Very happy overall. MSP360 allows us to manage a centralized SaaS backup and recovery platform. All jobs are managed from a central console. We can use multiple storage providers for redundancy and can manage our own encryption keys.

Pros

For us, MSP360 checks all the boxes. One of the few providers that support connecting to third-party storage providers like BackBlaze B2, Amazon S3, MS Azure, Drive E2, etc. They offer storage, but it is not required. They allow customers to create and manage their encryption keys. Multiple backups options, retentions, and schedules are supported. Additionally, support is very responsive.

Cons

The licensing was convoluted to get volume discounts in the past, but they have fixed those issues. The recent addition of FFI backups requires support to enable it on some third-party S3 buckets.

### "Do not use MSP360"

September 6, 2022

1.0

Sometimes I can be a cheapskate. Sometimes being a cheapskate leads me to choose the wrong software. I made that mistake with MSP 360. I have it installed on many client devices and migrating to another software is going to cost me a lot of time. Someday I will find that time and I will be so glad to be off this platform.

Pros

When I moved to MSP360 it was called Cloudberry Backup and it was not bad. They changed their name and pricing and made everything worse. So I guess the best thing about MSP360 is that it was not always as bad as it is now.

Cons

The web interface is terrible. It is very difficult to figure out how to navigate the interface to find backup history, restore data, even managing licenses is difficult. The only thing worse than their web interface is the new backup wizard. There are too many ways to mess it up and no easy way to clone configurations accoss multiple devices much less sites.

### "The MSP360 (Was Cloudberry) is funcional but not up to expectations"

September 10, 2022

4.0

Backups are consistent and easy to troubleshoot when everything is working. Getting to there was a bigger then expected training effort. Likewise the navigation to make a desired change required touching every one of 8 or more set-up screens. There's lots to come to grips with.

Pros

In my opinion the 'Backup History' report might be the best reason to use the software. The report is well though out with good links present to learn more about the details of individual backup jobs.

Cons

MSP360 has a local installable client that communicates with it's web portal. We use the software for local backups to USB drives and I was shocked to realize that backups would not proceed unless an working Internet connection is present. Another surprise is that the software has no settings that we've been able to figure out to do a full backup. It does do incremental backups which unsurprisingly are useful. Aspects of the administrative portal are not as intuitive as expected. In the case of updating software the notation "Backup for Windows - Public v7.5.3.3 - Get Sandbox Latest v..." and then pressing a \[Make Public\] button are the required steps to allow the already configured auto-updating of software. To take place, 'who knew?'. If you don't figure it out and keep up you'll find the software no longer functioning and no links that we found to easily explain the steps that we finally discovered deep in documentation. We suggested some simple interface updates to make it simple but no response so far.

Reason for choosing MSP360 Backup

As above

### "Server Backup: The best and most flexible option despite some issues"

November 25, 2017

5.0

Pros

I'm focusing this review on the Server Backup edition of CB backup. It's incredibly flexible in terms of configuration and storage options. It will work with just about any cloud provider that you might need, including Backblaze B2. The interface is pretty good , at least compared to the competition. It's got some quirky elements, but I've been able to figure out how to do most things pretty easily. Basically, if you want to choose your storage provider separately and are looking for a tool to access that storage, that can work with different providers and offers multiple backup sets, it seems like the best choice, at least in this price range. The server backup edition offers OS backup, system state backup and bare metal backup restore, which is really nice. I'm using it on WHS2011, where I've previously had to cobble together a mix of Windows server backup and 3rd party options. So far it looks like I'll be able to do it all with Cloudberry which is great, and in addition, combine local and cloud backup flexibly.

Cons

Backup version control could be improved. I've used crashplan in the past, which has abandoned its consumer market - but crashplan had excellent control of version saving so you could save more recent versions and less older versions - while always retaining some older backups in case you need to do a restore from an older period. Hopefully, CB will improve version control. Another issue for me is the business model. I'm not thrilled that I need a license for every single machine I want to backup - but the real kicker is that there is a 1TB limit on cloud storage with all the editions except the very expensive Ultimate edition. This is surprising at first because Cloudberry is not providing the storage! It is a purely arbitrary limitation that has nothing to do with software capabilities. These days, with large media files, 1 TB is not so large. You really have to search the website to even find this out - it's not described in the product specs. So $29 for the basic desktop version - but if you want to backup all those movies and music and home videos - the price goes up by 10x. On the other hand, they seem to be willing to release that limitation in exchange for a review, so that's okay. The progress bars are not very helpful - you can't really see how much is waiting to be backed up and it's difficult to see how much is currently in the backup storage. Beyond that major issue, I've run into some glitches - but nothing that keeps me from using the software.
